Grand Hyatt Melbourne

I particularly liked the spa, steam room, sauna and pool facilities.

Valet parking was easily accessible with the large undercover driveway, and plenty of staff on hand to assist.

Amazing service, club lounge service and snacks worth it. Bathrooms a little outdated and mould spots. Room itself and bed is clean and confmy. Pool is very outdated. Checkin and check out and staff very friendly.

This was so much better than I anticipated. Despite it being around for a while, it feels brand new. Gym is best hotel gym and probably just the best gym in the city. Views over the park incredible and Flinders lane shops and cafes on doorstep. This is Melbourne’s best hotel for sure.

Lovely hotel, great location, comfy larger beds, lots to like with a luxury feel, very deluxe ( expensive)breakfast, cute outdoor tennis court and cute small marble steam room in the lovely change rooms. Few things to improve: the pool area compared to the hotel is so daggy, dark, literally grey and frankly dirty. The pool/spa itself okay, great sized spa with weak jets, bit small pool and both need a good clean ( reguarly!!!). But the areas awful, no natural light, like an office frosted windows to the gym area, cheap grey furniture and old daggy couch, grit in the spa and nasty ring around it, rusty fittings, water stained tiles and mirrors, nasty matts and don't look in the grates around the pool...Needs some very serious care, upgrading and 5 star love, a mural of plants and colour and white furniture, would really brighten it up. The change rooms are much nicer than the pool area that also closes at 8 which is so stingy and early!!!! Seriously, how do you have such a high end deluxe 5 star hotel with a 2 star dark crusty grey outdated yuck pool area? Stingy on coffee pods but happily gave us more, in summer a top sheet would be good not just a quilt in 36 degrees but housekeeping accommodated well. And bathroom had no working fan or way to cover poo smells, staying in a room together doesn't mean you want to smell each other's poo.

Pool is dated and completely indoors with no outdoor flow or windows. Needs cleaning and maintenance. The sauna and steam is overcrowded due to thier annual membership programmes for external non staying guests. Gym is big which can take the amount of people but the sauna and steam and showers are overused and deteriorating. As a guest you don’t feel special

Fantastic stay! The room was clean and the bed was comfortable with great pillows. Great view of the city! The gym is fully equipped. 5 star hotel!

Normally we love the Grand however this time we were met with a dirty and bloody doona cover on the bed. And maybe the rooms need some extra insulation… wasn’t overly happy. It being able to sleep due to the neighbours. A little overpriced for the breakfast and mini bar too

The staff are lovely and very helpful. It’s a stunning hotel with large rooms, so you’re not constantly bumping into your luggage. However, the cleaning staff need more training as on two separate occasions the rooms were not cleaned well at all. Which they ended up sending someone to re-clean the room. But it’s disappointing to have to ask for this, as a premium hotel with premium prices I expect 10/10 for cleanliness.

Clean and comfortable room; good location; quiet stay.

We were very disappointed with the room, it was very tired and had a lot of things broken in the room. The bathroom was quite unclean. We expected better. The hotel is in an excellent location, great food offerings nearby and close to all the shopping.

Great staff, clean room with great amenities

The hotel is rather drab and dated, but mostly clean and comfortable. We had a twin room on level 14, which was quite small. Some of the promised toiletries were not provided. The grout in the shower was filthy. Everything else was clean. Beds and pillows very comfortable. We could hear the lifts and other guests using their showers and toilets. The buffet breakfast was amazing, and in room meals very good. Location is great. The staff are well trained.

Rooms aren’t sound proof and we had a sleepless night. Pillow cases were very dirty with black marks on them.

I am very shocked to find this hotel room pretty old and smells musty after looking at the raved reviews. The doors are so heavy and all I can hear is slamming all day and night, plus people talking outside my room - woke me many times even with the ear plugs I have been given after I have made a complaint about the noise. This hotel room is meant to be sound proof but it isn’t. My privacy sign is on but I still get loud knocking on my door from housekeeping while trying to rest since I’ve not had much sleep since I checked into this room. The last straw was when I have requested for full fat cream for my coffee because I can’t take milk, I waited around 45mins and called again and when it arrived, it was actually full fat milk. I called and was advised they don’t have cream. I was so disappointed and frustrated. This hotel isn’t worth it and I wished I had stayed with Sofitel again this trip.

We were placed in a well appointed room on the 31st floor but all night you could hear the mechanical sound of the lift; the hydraulics of it going up and down. We had to put music on to drown out the noise to sleep.

Nice rooms and very clean. However hallway door closures are very loud in rooms, so light sleepers may need to consider ear plugs.

The rooms are really noisy. Sound proofing between rooms is terrible so you hear every movement of people in adjacent room bathrooms. Not ideal hearing every shower, toilet flush and tap running next door and above

Lovely spacious room, beautiful marble bathroom with separate bath and all the extra touches to make a pleasant stay. Staff were lovely and helpful and the view from our room was amazing! The location was also ideal. Easy to get around town with a tram stop out the front or an easy walk to restaurants and shopping. We ordered room service for breakfast and it was delicious.

We had a great stay. The hotel is beautiful. Our view of the city and river was fantastic. The room was very comfortable and the hotel staff were all very friendly and helpful. The area is centrally located in the CBD, very easy to get to things and close to the tram.

Need acoustic proof as the lift noise of up and down were very noticeable throughout the day and night.

Lovely views staff and amenities. Just seems a little out dated - hopefully they upgrade soon if given the opportunity.

Hotel has lost a little of its lustre since I last stayed. Service isn’t what it used to be. It took over 15 minutes for security to get raging party goers to turn off their music at 2am. It took over 20 minutes & 2 phone calls to get a replacement ironing board as the one in my room was broken.

Nice hotel, very strategically located. Good breakfast spread. Only bitter feeling is front desk check out staff unprofessional attitude. After having settling my bill at the time of check out, the hotel over charged me on my credit card, this is quite dangerous intention of the hotel. When a customer checks out - all accounts should be settled upfront.

Staff and facilities were excellent. We were there for a reception at one of the banquet halls. It was elegant and reception staff was top tier.

I always stay at the Grand Hyatt when I visit Melbourne. Unfortunately this stay wasn’t as I remembered it. The staff member who checked me in was dry I didn't get a nice welcome. He said Hello and then proceeded to check me in. I noticed the lady next to him checked in someone and asked about their day and their stay. The gentleman then gave me my cards and said bye without telling me where the lifts are (I know where they are, but assuming he didn't know that I had been here before). The bar in the lobby was also disappointing. The waiter was flustered, rude and overwhelmed. Unfortunate experience

After visiting for the first time in more than 30 years I came away disappointed. Lovely hotel, lovely room, great location. But..... You could hear what was going on in adjacent rooms - sound proofing not very good. Who wants to hear people showering at 1am? Also, I left the room on my 2nd day at about 930am. Flipped the "make up my room" switch which I checked illuminated the indicator outside my room. I returned to room just after 1pm and it had not been made up. I then left for lunch and saw one of the housekeeping staff in the room 2 doors down - I asked her to get my room made up while I was out to lunch. I returned and all sign of the housekeeper had disappeared and my room not made up. I then went out for dinner at 630pm and flipped the switch again - room not made up when I returned after midnight. Not acceptable.

Would not recommend based on customer service we received. I’m 6 months pregnant and was very sick at check in, I explained this. I was desperately trying to hold back vomiting. Asked for cold water to be delivered to the room but received zero care or sympathy from the front desk staff who told me to call room service when I got to the room. Then it was too difficult a request for the room service. Was happy to pay the exorbitant $20 for a glass of cold water but it took so long, 3 phone calls by which time it too late so we cancelled it. No information given at check in regarding breakfast options or easily accessible information in the room. I made a complaint (which in itself took getting through two AI robots and two remote staff giving me incorrect email addresses) and received a sincere apology from the manager on duty who as recompense told me the breakfast times. I was then ignored the next morning at the buffet breakfast who served the person behind me even though I was next in line and tried to give me someone a man’s order. There was difficulty with the machine when being charged at check in and then at check out they were going to charge us a second time for the room. The room was nice, but I’d have received more care any sympathy from a stranger on the street than most of the staff I interacted with here. Not what you expect or pay for.

Service was excellent! We had no idea how formal and helpful the staff would be. The functionality was awesome as we crammed lots into the short 3 night stay. We definitely recommend the Grand Hyatt Melbourne :)

Good location for downtown meetings. Very clean and nice rooms.

Highly recommend. Great location with a 1 min walk to 101 Collins st tram or 2mins to Flinders tram or 5min walk to Flinders train station.

The hotel is in a pretty decent location with most things nearby and at a walking distance. The area has good shopping options too with all sorts of brands in and around the area. Even Chinatown is not far from the place. Free Tram Zone nearby is an icing on the cake.

A perfect hotel and location for a few nights in the cbd

Excellent service, beautiful hotel. Fantastic restaurants right beside the hotel and the hotel restaurant is lovely. Right in the CBD, walking distance to Flinders station, Fed square, the Yarra river, Arts precinct, and Southbank.

Great city location

Dining is an awesome experience. Great food and top service. Awesome wine list. Comfortable bed. Plenty of space in a king room. Great shower!

I have stayed at the Grand Hyatt before and absolutely loved it, so I was excited to stay here once again. The hotel is beautiful, and right in central Melbourne CBD. It is close to trams, trains, and walkable to a lot of the sights. The buffet breakfast is one of the biggest and most extensive I've ever experienced, and the in room dining options are actually delicious. We stayed for about a week here, but this time around we had driven the car, whereas last time we flew. Having a car with you is difficult with the hotels in the CBD as none of them have on site self parking. They had a vallet parking option which was about $90 a day (which adds up as all the CBD parking is paid also throughout the day). We ended up trying to find parking at one of the near by lots each day with the ACDC parking garage around the corner being the most affordable. My only reason for giving a slightly lower score on cleanliness was because of the morning buffet breakfast. Every morning when we went to get a plate for breakfast all of the plates were somehow dirty. Like bits of egg stuck on or something. The plates obviously get washed in some big industrial dish washer, and this little bits and pieces don't fully come off. It wasn't enough to ruin my breakfast, but I was just surprised that with the absolute amazing standards of the rest of the hotel that they would miss something like this. Having said that, the staff at the hotel are all amazing and treat everyone like they are VIP guests.

My stay at the Grand Hyatt was absolutely perfect from start to finish. The service was exceptional, the staff were professional, and always attentive, and the room was beautifully designed. Every detail reflected luxury and comfort, making the experience truly memorable. Plus the food at Collins kitchen was delicious including the breakfast. Overall this hotel matches a modern 5 star experience with excellent service and comfort, and high quality dining.

This was our first time staying here and it did not disappoint. Staff great, conveniently located to all shopping areas, close to tram and trains. Room perfect. The buffet breakfast is great, so many choices.
