Outside of the hotel looked okay but the rooms were a bit basic and tired. The portaloo style of the bathroom was off putting. $25 for on site parking seemed a little excessive too.

My accommodation was good and I would recommend. The only problem I had was I paid for a car park that was full . They are giving me a refund. My suggestion would be if you only have 30 car parks only sell 30 car parks

Clear lack of maintenance starting at the reception with a leaking roof air con system that already had mold showing up around it. That is in front of the reception counter where guests check-in into the property. Room cleanliness could be better with a good centimeter worth of dust inside the bed side lights and bedhead, and lots of dust in the bathroom roof exhaust fan which makes it harder for the fan to work properly. Location is pretty good within walking distance to key places of interest. Not having access to an undercover car park on site was a setback considering latest whether events including hailstones. There is also no covered pathway between car park and reception, meaning if it rains, you will get wet getting your luggage out of the car. I would try to find another place to stay in case I visit Newcastle again.

Not suitable if you are planning to stay more then 1 night as there are no appliances, no cutlery,absolute bare minimum, also a surprise fee of $25 per night on top of your stay just to park your car there which was not mentioned in my booking, the overall property was relatively clean on the plus side and is relatively central to everything

Bang average hotel. Good location in Newcastle West end, easy walk to transport and waterfront. Rooms adequate, although modular bathroom is pokey. Staff service was generally very good. Parking costs extra $25. Breakfast $20 was terrible - bad options, little choice, struggling to keep up even with minimal patronage. Better going to a cafe down the road.

Fortunately, my room was on the ground floor when the only lift stopped working and the bed seemed to instantly become unmade when I pulled the sheet down. The real downside however was the buffet breakfast, which was horrible, the best element of which was the DIY toast. The scrambled egg on my first morning looked like it had been scrambled, then unscrambled into a collection of solid unappetizing blobs. It and the bacon were cool, not warm and certainly not hot. On my second morning, the scrambled egg looked more like a chicken curry, the quiche and bacon were cold and absolutely well below the necessary 60 degrees required to be safe. Yes, the breakfast is included but it should be safe to consume.

Very well located to the trains .The whole Hotel NEEDS a massive thorough CLEANup of dirty walls and floors and smudges all over the Lift area . The fridge area in our room 301 was water damaged I'd say ages ago and is in a bad state . The Hotel needs a maintenance effort to lift the IBIS standard .

The Ibis Newcastle is just grubby. From the entrance to the elevator to the corridors and the room I was in. The bed was comfy, but that is all I can say that is redeeming. Housekeeping needs to pick up their game. Property maintenance should be looked at overall.

Unfortunately the toilet was not cleaned and there were hairs on it. The fridge was also not cleaned and still had previous people food in it The fridge made a loud noise all night The entire place did not feel clean Also need to bring your own pillows as pillows felt as though no cushion in them Lucky I am short as the towels only just covered my body to dry me also It was cheap for the night so I guess I got what I paid for

The staff were average. The hotel was like a rundown halfway house. I have stayed in cleaner and better looking backpackers. The hotel smells of cigarettes and stale beer, the lift had a urinal cake quality and the room itself had so many paint chips, warped and cracked furniture and my sheets had holes in them. It feels like a place that you would stay if yiu just wanted a place to pass out after a bucks night.

The bed was high which I really liked, however the pillows are way too thin, plus there’s only 1 extra pillow so no good when 2 people want 2 pillows. I used the spare blanket under my pillow to try and raise it up a bit. The cupboard the fridge was in is old and tacky. You can see water damage. No big deal but looks old cheap and nasty. Shower was good. Some of the outside of the room doors were pretty filthy. Great location and no fuss with check in or out. Plenty of food options around . Really loved some of the decorations around the place, like the silverchair album cover and Aboriginal history stuff. Will stay again if I need to be in Newcastle.

Everything about the motel was fine, we were out during the night returning at midnight, sadly there were no parking spaces available, I assume that part of the costing is for parking? A minor problem there were no spoons in the room for making coffee.

Front staff is very friendly and helpful but the room is not good at all. Lift, corridor and room is so old looks like a backpacker hotel. Ibis is well known company we didn’t expect hotel will be that bad, bathroom door very hard to lock, bed condition was horrible and so tiny room not enough space. Blanket was so old and that came from the cover make mess our clothes from the wool.

A typical Ibis facility, if you have stayed in one before you know what to expect. Smallish room and bathroom, fridge, TV, Kettle, etc. OK for a couple of nights when travelling. Can get paid breakfast downstairs.

It's pretty basic. For the price I would expect something a little better. Rooms are small, bathroom looks like it belongs on a ship, soap only from a dispenser and there aren't even proper spoons for the coffee cups! BUT it was very quiet, darker than most when the curtains were closed and I slept well on the comfortable bed. In the end, that's all you need! It's close enough to the Newcastle tram to get into town, and fine for a night or two, but I wouldn't recommend for a family or a holiday.

Service at check-in was slow due to the receptionist being busy serving beers. No room cleaning even though I was there for 3 nights. The manager apologized and assure me it would be done after night 2, but it wasn’t Breakfast on morning 1 was a shambles. Lights weren’t even on and staff still setting up the breakfast after the scheduled open time Breakfast on morning 2 and 3 was great Lift was grotty. 3 nights worth of rubbish in my bin was difficult to deal with Overall a very disappointing experience

This is what you expect of an Ibis property, clean, compact and perfectly suited to my needs for an overnight stay. The staff were extremely responsive, when there was a problem with the first room they sent me to, the problem was rectified immediately and they added some complimentary wine and parking. There is transport into the centre of Newcastle if needed, though its not far to walk to Pubs, Clubs and shopping centres.

The receptionist was unprofessional, on arrival she served other guests who arrived after me before me. My key wouldn’t work I had to return to the main desk 4 times before I could access the room I had booked a queen and stayed in a double. There was no soap dispensers in my bathroom and no towels. On my second night I was once again locked out of the room to be told sometimes the system automatically and at random will check guests out. Room doesn’t provide cutlery or anything to use when eating in the room

The young gentleman on the desk on the evening we arrived late was able to assist us by finding us a nearby room at another establishment, when our booking from Expedia, did not process through to the Ibis system. Very impressed with his service as he was able to manage us, whilst helping others as well. Thank you

The bed was high which I really liked, however the pillows are way too thin, plus there’s only 1 extra pillow so no good when 2 people want 2 pillows. I used the spare blanket under my pillow to try and raise it up a bit. The cupboard the fridge was in is old and tacky. You can see water damage. No big deal but looks old cheap and nasty. Shower was good. Some of the outside of the room doors were pretty filthy. Great location and no fuss with check in or out. Plenty of food options around . Really loved some of the decorations around the place, like the silverchair album cover and Aboriginal history stuff. Will stay again if I need to be in Newcastle.

Hotel location & room quality were good. Breakfast day 1 open until 10:30am we got there 9:45am very limited crockery & glasses most hot food had ran out. Tables had not been cleaned. Day 2 we tuned up at 8:50am to be told there was no hot food as the chef had not turned up. We did recieve a refund of $36 but paid €20 per person per night so €80 in total.

Hotel full of concert goers. Ibis formula of providing all you need - comfy bed, good shower and no frills. Just good value. Breakfast was good and parking at $15 per day less than local price. A suggestion to get additional lighting (a standard lamp would do) would be desirable. Excellent location. Would stay again.

The Ibis Newcastle is a nice hotel and while not in easy walking distance of eateries , it is located near to the light rail. The breakfast at the hotel was very good. It is in close proximity to the Family Hotel , a nice pub with good meals.

Budget friendly accommodation with great staff, close to the wonderful beaches and Nobbys lighthouse. Pizza hut and KFC next door if you need a quick feed. Woolies, maccas, big w are within walking distance. Great location to stay if exploring Newcastle.

The Ibis Newcastle never greatly excites me. I stay there because it suits my needs. However I must say it is always very clean and tidy. This time I partook of Dinner and Breakfast there and both very very plentiful and tasty. I will be back.

The property was perfect for a quick night away. easy walk to restaurants & civic theatre. bathroom was clean and compact and the room the same. Breakfast was lacking in choice & the 1 coffee allowed for $18 pp was okay.

Bang average hotel. Good location in Newcastle West end, easy walk to transport and waterfront. Rooms adequate, although modular bathroom is pokey. Staff service was generally very good. Parking costs extra $25. Breakfast $20 was terrible - bad options, little choice, struggling to keep up even with minimal patronage. Better going to a cafe down the road.

Fortunately, my room was on the ground floor when the only lift stopped working and the bed seemed to instantly become unmade when I pulled the sheet down. The real downside however was the buffet breakfast, which was horrible, the best element of which was the DIY toast. The scrambled egg on my first morning looked like it had been scrambled, then unscrambled into a collection of solid unappetizing blobs. It and the bacon were cool, not warm and certainly not hot. On my second morning, the scrambled egg looked more like a chicken curry, the quiche and bacon were cold and absolutely well below the necessary 60 degrees required to be safe. Yes, the breakfast is included but it should be safe to consume.

Room stunk of mildew and also had a smell from the air- conditioning. Room cupboard structures falling apart probably from a leaking fridge . Shower very small as was the room. Bed was good and comfortable. Cleaner gave us a few extra coffees which was nice but that's the only good comment. As we had to leave early on our last day we were told that we could get a free coffee and muffin at the breakfast area. When we went there on the last morning they told us we would have to pay for it. Best option would be to knock it down and build a new facility especially before the lift breaks. Not a good experience unfortunately.
