Pub next door, good pool.

Good stay although the hotel is a little run down. Dinner was in the pub next door who had not football on, didn’t take a tab and the barman was a little abrupt. Breakfast was good and morning/reception staff were friendly. Parking was easy. However my clean car was cover in bird poo and tree sap in the morning which was very annoying

Very decent hotel. Extensive set of buildings with an excellent swimming pool and sauna. Pub next door was good with great food.

Looked great on the photos and I would stay there again,on arrival while hotel and rooms need a makeover as they looked tired and run down. Ramble wood restaurant on site was very good food,went to use the gym in the morning and there’s only 2 cross trainers and 2 running machines and no weights which was frustrating,not blaming the hotel I would of just wanted to know,maybe it needs taking off the gym included filter on hotels.com?

Relaxing stay with my colleagues over two days midweek. We chose this hotel because it was in the middle for three of us to meet and it had good reviews. We were not disapointed with our choice as the staff and their service was excellent, the option to have a meeting while having afternoon tea was also a cherry on the cake. The breakfast was really good with good selection, hot buffet was delicious. Cannot fault it at all. The food in both the pub and the hotel restaurant were equally very good, we were not disapointed. The accommodation was also very good, large room even on the standard option for B&B, really great value for money. We have to forgive the somewhat older looking interior, in a conference hotel, it it not uncommon, and this is the only reason why I would not score it as amazing, but as good on the overall apperaance. But i must point out, the room was clean, the staff were superb. We visited the pool, while they were doing renovations to the saunas, so we were not able to use the facilities to the full, but this doesn't mean that I will score them down for that reason. I'm just not able to comment fully on the full spa facilities. All areas were clean with easy access. Overall, really good value for accommodation, as well as food. If I were to visit the area again, I would not hesitate to stay. The staff and their service would definitely make me consider staying in the future again.

Lovely building and grounds with great facilities onsite . Especially the spa

Plenty of free parking, (no nasty ANPR cameras), reception friendly, room clean and spacious, nice pub on the side for food and drinks, pool for a swim, no road noise, breakfast in a lovely grand room and all staff polite.

why does the swimming pool not open until 8:00am? Too late for me I'm afraid

Generally a great stay - staff were lovely and helpful. Room was clean - bed was very comfortable. My only criticisms would be that the spa is very aged looking - the steam room had backed up and black water coming up through it and there was a lot of rust - it just looked a bit shabby. There was also a lot of Christmas parties near my room which meant things were quite noisey until midnight and really drunk women sort of shouting around the place.

Not as good as it could have been, a bit misleading photos on website. Everything was a bit tired and worn, Spa area was grubby and had flaking paint and rust in the pool area.

On 04/02/2024 Breakfast staff was very rude,we booked 1 family room for 3 and and one room for two,she accused my of coming back my kids twice to eat when I was waiting for them to get ready downstairs, my kids after refused to eat any food...no tea or coffee was offered....I was thinking breakfast was included in price!.....I requested nice windows view...was in cemetery, room was full of dust and mosquitos, furniture damaged, behind the bed I found receipt from 05/01/2024.for family of 3 for 2nights a had only 2 toilet rolls,on the windows I found many spiders web and dry spiders ,as a disable person I was given room upstairs, which make me difficulties to get in there.all other staff really nice and friendly,in the dinner restaurant I wasn't offered dinner table due to no space when was dinning area been busy,and wasn't clean.

Lovely property with a very spacious room and comfortable bed. Bathroom was very clean with bath and shower. Some of the furnishings seemed a little dated and stained but overall the room was lovely. All the staff were very processional and friendly. Breakfast was very good. Also had an evening meal at the restaurant next door which was really good.

The room I was initially placed in was not clean / bedding had stains, hairs in bathroom & floor not hoovered. The receptionist swiftly changed my room, to one that was satisfactory, however the bed was not a King Size as advertised. The spa is lovely. Very relaxing and great amenities. The gym however is just a tiny room with a few treadmills. So don’t be fooled. I also ordered room service several times and the consistency of portion sizes, quality of ingredients etc differed every time. I left on my last day with food poisoning - over all a bad experience.

Lovely staff. Great service. Very clean, but well used. The carpets and fixtures are all well worn. Its in need of painting and decorating. The spa facilities are small for the amount of people using them. Good value for what we paid and had a nice stay. Again lovely staff.

Very dated , infestation of flies in the bathroom due to drainage issue. Curtains didn’t close properly , paint off walls , bathroom unfit to use. Was advertised as 4 star , certainly not 4 star at all . Spoke with the hotel complained and left photos

The hotel is faded (think 1980s) but clean. The manager told me that the redecoration is is in process.The staff were lovely, as was the swimming pool and steam room. The weather was dreadful so we couldn't explore the grounds but if the price is right, we will probably go back, so may have another opportunity!

The location, grounds and building are all amazing. It was lovely having a walk around the building in the evening and looking at all the interesting parts. The pool was also really nice with a jacuzzi and steam room. All the staff were super friendly and helpful. Breakfast was nice. Only downside was the room could do with a spruce up. A bit dated and some stains on the floor but nothing that ruined our experience.

Thin walls and noisy rooms. Very friendly wait staff in restaurant but extremely slow to get the food. Overall the hotel looks dirty.

We had the windows wide open and fan on all night. Problem is there's a brick wall outside the window which stops any breeze, so room just didn't cool down.

Massive rooms but very dated. Uncomfortable night because room was so hot. Surprising as the walls are so thick, windows open and fan on max! Definitely in need of air conditioning. Staff were not very friendly or engaging. Nothing really said on check on other than here's your room key. When leaving not asked about experience. Felt unwelcome at spa, almost as though we were intruding. Ok stay but could be so much better with not a lot of effort!

Rooms are showing their age and could do with an update. Grounds are pleasant but our room overlooked the graveyard which wasn't ideal

Stayed one night for a business trip. Staff were great. Beautiful building and grounds, good breakfast selection with decent coffee. The only downside was how loud and echoing the staircases and fire doors are.

Breakfast was good Room was up in the eaves No lift Decor is so dated and old. Room hot and stuffy but they gave us a fan Hairdryer was tiny and yellowed and sounded like a 2-stroke, advices you take your own Paint chipped in areas and they have fire doors on the bathroom and cupboard so they won’t stay open. So much unnecessary furniture in the room. Huge chest of drawers plus another one under the tv.

Great hotel in a fantastic location. Parking plentiful and free. Free WiFi. Warm and quiet accommodation. Very spacious room and ensuite. Staff very friendly and accommodating. If I'm being picky...The one tiny thing that let it down was the room was a bit dated and worn out. It could do with a refresh and a tiny bit of TLC. However, that's a very minor point in what was a very comfortable and easy overnight stay.

Old classic building, a little too warm for me no air conditioning but great food, service and clean and comfortable rooms.

Stayed with our dog, was the most stress free stay. Can’t recommend highly enough. All staff were friendly, helpful and professional.

I enjoyed my stay until an unexpected issue arose. I wasn’t informed about a loud Halloween party happening directly below my room (118) in the garden. Upon returning to the hotel at 5:00 PM, the noise was overwhelming, especially given the lack of double glazing, and made it impossible to relax or work, as I had planned. I understand that events like this can be part of the hotel’s offerings, but as a guest booking a 4-star hotel surrounded by parks, I did not expect such extreme noise disturbance, especially late afternoon! When I approached the front desk, I was told that the event would end at 9:30 PM. I felt that my request for assistance was not met, and no consideration was given. I ended up leaving the hotel in search of peace and quiet, despite having paid for the room. When I returned later that evening, and the noise was still on; I spoke to the manager, who informed me that the event finish at 9:45 PM and that it was only an extra 15 minutes... I was also told that my room was the closest to the event and that notes about such disturbances are usually sent in advance—however, this did not happen in my case. Had I known about the potential noise, I would have likely booked elsewhere. I was offered no alternative arrangements or compensation for the disruption. Overall, I’m disappointed by the lack of proactive communication and the way my concerns were handled. It did not meet the standard of service I expect from a 4-star hotel, particularly in a tranquil setting

The property is good in general, a good place for chilling and relaxing. However, the lady in the reception’s attitude is bad to me. She arranged the room to me which is too far away which poor (almost nothing) WiFi access, and she said I have to find the router by myself and reset it (which I don’t think it’s my responsibility to do so). Also the room has no laundry bag and she insisted there is one in the cabinet. One of the lamp was not workable in the room too. Eventually I insisted I do not accept the room facility and she changed another room to me. This is the only thing that I am not satisfied!

Nice place, odd set up with internal restaurant and pub that you walk outside 50m to get to. Reception staff lovely, pub staff good too, but breakfast crew rather disorganised, no-one asked if I wanted a cup of tea in 15-20mins, but the breakfast itself was good. (Yes I know I could have flagged down a staff member if I'd wanted a drink, but no-one noticed so I drank OJ.) Car park is large but no bays are marked so there was some terrible space wasting going on!

Room was ok tho dirty cushions on bed,room very cold but staff offered mobile radiators....but in thecend not needed as radiayor fixedcwhen we came back to room. Inhouse pub was lovely,spa pool was lovely if a little tired but jacuzzi ,steam room and pool all very good Breakfast which we paid for separately was very disappointing. My wife has gluten intolerance which we stated twice and yet they gave her breakfast with hashbrowns and black pudding - both of which were not gluten free. My breakfast,though large had inedible sausages and black pudding which were both rock hard solid. For this reason we will not consider this beautiful looking but tired setting. Very reasonable value for money but very let down by lack of attention to detail on dietary requirement which could of led to serious illness and my breakfast being largely inedible..... A very big disappointment

Whilst only a one-night stay, everything was perfect. All staff friendly and clearly properly trained. I particularly appreciated the spontaneous mini-tour of this historic building and brief summary of its history

Nice place. Had a massive room, dated but that's in keeping with the place. Breakfast is good, and some staff friendly at breakfast. Evening meal on site not that great for the money. Didn't use the spa, so can't comment, looked ok when walked past it. My TV in the room was broken. If within budget worth going again. Parking is free which is a bonus. Fairly quiet area.

We didn't have a hotel breakfast. It was too expensive.
