In a good location between Port Arthur and other sites such as Tasman Arch. Restaurant on site was good. We had a nice room with parking outside the door and a nice view of the end of Stingaree Bay.

Loved the look/presentation of the hotel on a whole. Staff were great. Check-in/out was a breeze. Room was clean and well presented. Service at the bar/dining area was great. The meals we had were excellent (I would come back just for the Guinness pie). Had meals on both nights of our stay, trying different foods for each. All we tried were beautifully presented, cooked fresh and very tasty.

The room was quite dated, generally dirty and the facilities were average at best. No vanity in the bathroom. Coffee machine did not work and could not get it replaced. Room generally dirty. Stained bed doona, floors seem like they have never been cleaned, very dusty.

Our room was dirty with many dead bugs on the window sill. The floor in the bathroom was grubby and the floors could have done with a sweep. There was no TV according to the owner that was our fault so he sent the waitress to set it up. Insinuating that we were idiots. The restaurant table we sat at had built up grim and needed a serious scrub.

Property had lovely views of the lake at the rear. Room was tidy but ants on the counter top. Very dated and in need of an update. Staff not adequately trained and told us and others that they were open for breakfast at 7.30 when they weren't. Luckily the service station was open as not a lot of options in Port Arthur

Clean bedding the only good thing sadly. Rooms need a good clean and update. Limited menu and poor quality foods. Sorry to say that even if the food was free it wouldn’t help. Hate to complain but something needs doing to change this place. Don’t get me started on the brown water, bleach is a good cleaner

I stayed at this property for one night. The view from the room was nice, and I appreciated that. However, the cleanliness of the room was disappointing. The water quality was terrible – the tap water was brown and very untidy. While they provided drinking water, it was frustrating not being able to use clean water for basic needs like hand wash, face wash . This issue made my stay quite unpleasant and left me feeling irritated.

The room we stayed in was dirty, had lots of cobwebs in the bathroom/kitchenette, the toilet leaked causing the floor to become wet if left over a couple of hours and the shower drain was blocked causing water to build up in shower.

Nice quiet room with a view of the inlet with reasonable adequate amenities except face washers. We were notified at check-in not to open windows as midgets could get in, as well as non potable water issue. Wifi never worked. Tea colour water can be off putting but that's what country areas may faced. OK for an overnight stay.

Location was great and we chose this place for its look of a country pub. However the dining area was closed and we would have appreciated a bit of notice about this as we would have looked to stay elsewhere. This caused us to have to drive to a different location for dinner. I also think they need to upgrade the TV channels as if we're restricted to sit in our room a few more channels (more than 4) or the ability to sign in to Netflix etc... would be nice.

The staff is lovely here, no problems there. We were upgraded which was great, but the room we were given had an adjoining door which didn’t give any sound proofing against our noisy neighbours. The light shone under the door and they may as well have been in the room. The view was amazing, but that door needs to be replaced.

We were given a chalet type room, thst could do with a face lift. Saying that it had a lovely view and had a realy comfy bed , i had a good nights sleep.

The room size is good but it is certainly at the budget end of the accomodation scale The heating was poor and the non town water quite disconcerting but they did provide free bottled water to drink I didn't eat there bit the dinning area was quite good. The heater struggled to heat the room all night

Great place, close to the historic site. We we upgraded when we checked in. A nice gesture without us even asking. They also were very accommodating when we realised we booked the wrong checkin date. Great PR and customer service.

We arrived a few minutes before the reception closed (about 8ish) and they told us that they had sent us a code to a lock box outside to collect our key. As my phone was dead I didn’t receive this message. We were given our key and went to drop our stuff off in our room but the room we were given had not been cleaned/serviced from the previous night and there was some rubbish left. The overhead lights in the main bedroom were also broken. We went back to reception but they had left for the evening. We were exhausted from the drive and had to wait for them to find a room that had been cleaned and was available for the night before moving all of our stuff to the new allocated room. We were then asked to drop our old rooms key in the drop box because they were closing up for the night. Once in our cleaner room we found that the beds were on rollers and the that the headboard was not attached so if you wanted to sit up in bed you couldn’t without rolling away from the wall and the headboard falling down on you. The bathroom also had dead bugs in it. Had we arrived 5 minutes later we would have been stuck either without a room or if we managed to unlock the lock box for our key with a room that was filthy from the previous guests.

The reception was shut (1400) when we arrived. The reception staff were rude and the payment system didn't work (repeatedly). Dinner was very very slow and 2 of our 4 meals were wrong and I had to ask at the bar twice for mine after waiting 40mins since the others were brought. The room was very hot, air condition did not cool properly and it stank. The windows could not be opened (advised from reception) as the midge (mosquitos) would flood the room. The water was undrinkable and brown, reception also advised us not to drink it. The shower water stank and was brown.

I cannot say enough good things about my experience here. The facility was beautiful with astounding nature, the food was 5 star, the staff were very friendly, and the prices were very reasonable. My initial stay was for 3 days and I ended up staying 9!! One and if not the best holidays of my lifetime. I hope to return even though it is the opposite side of the world from me.

The restaurant offered a good range of food though a long wait after ordering. Ease of dining with accommodation metres away. Bottled water offered to compensate for tannin coloured water.

We liked the location of the Fox and Hound’s. it was very handy for visiting Port Arthur historical site. Cosy restaurant for dinner with fire. Lovely view from room. Only negative was bathroom could do with an upgrade.

The Fox and Hounds is a great place to stay to explore Port Arthur. The hotel is warm and welcoming, the rooms clean and comfortable. The view from our window was lovely and we were able to watch the sun rise in the morning from the comfort of our bed! Having a bar and restaurant attached was a bonus.

In a good location between Port Arthur and other sites such as Tasman Arch. Restaurant on site was good. We had a nice room with parking outside the door and a nice view of the end of Stingaree Bay.

Charming look and feel. Close to Port Arthur and the rest of the Peninsula. The room was large and clean with a great lake view. Staff were young and friendly.

Location was great and we chose this place for its look of a country pub. However the dining area was closed and we would have appreciated a bit of notice about this as we would have looked to stay elsewhere. This caused us to have to drive to a different location for dinner. I also think they need to upgrade the TV channels as if we're restricted to sit in our room a few more channels (more than 4) or the ability to sign in to Netflix etc... would be nice.

Clean bedding the only good thing sadly. Rooms need a good clean and update. Limited menu and poor quality foods. Sorry to say that even if the food was free it wouldn’t help. Hate to complain but something needs doing to change this place. Don’t get me started on the brown water, bleach is a good cleaner

We had a nice stay. The main building was not what I expected but overall it was ok. No breakfasts available which was a pain since there is not much around.

The restaurant offered a good range of food though a long wait after ordering. Ease of dining with accommodation metres away. Bottled water offered to compensate for tannin coloured water.

Loved the look/presentation of the hotel on a whole. Staff were great. Check-in/out was a breeze. Room was clean and well presented. Service at the bar/dining area was great. The meals we had were excellent (I would come back just for the Guinness pie). Had meals on both nights of our stay, trying different foods for each. All we tried were beautifully presented, cooked fresh and very tasty.

Stunning view from the room and lovely to stay in. Would have given a better rating if not for the substandard meal we received on one night. We ate two nights at the attached restaurant and the first night was wonderful. The second we had sent to our room and it was terrible. I wouldn't have thought they came from the same kitchen. Oh well, I'd definitely stay again, but not necessarily eat at the restaurant.

Average inn. Bed was not super comfy. Split system in the room, small TV with a couple channels. Shower is okay good water pressure. The water is not drinkable but they provide bottled water. Lots of bugs. Food was nice at the pub but little/no vegetarian options. Staff were lovely.

In one of the annexes. It was very tired and needed a refit. Initial impression was poor: up some narrow outside stairs, with a torn carpet, which obviously hadn't been vacuumed for many a day. Key kept jamming in lock, and was very difficult to open door. Inside the room every effort had been made by the staff, and the room was clean and tidy. However, all was dated and tired. Did not use the resturant. The receptionist was very helpful, and did agree the rooms needed refurbishment. It served us OK for one night; but what can you expect for the (cheap) price we paid?

Bedroom and bathroom were very tired and in need of some deep cleaning and redecoration. The bed was very comfortable and the view was exceptional. The restaurant was somewhat disappointing with its limited and somewhat overpriced menu. However the food was good and Owen behind the bar provided excellent service.
