Clean & convenient. Had to pay to park unless a Meecure member which is free and easy so worth doing. Bar not particularly well stocked but room very nice, comfortable and clean. Slept very well, would rexcomend

No pool or spa as advertised. Bathroom had rust behind taps and mould in tile grout. Only one reception staff (there was another in the office who ignored the queue!), carpets were old and worn.

The room was very nice and comfortable. The buffet breakfast was excellent and the staff were very friendly. We weren't impressed with the restaurant and only ate in there on our first night. They didn't have the first couple of meals I chose, which was steak and salmon. I ended up having a chicken tika curry, which was very good. We also ended up waiting 20 minutes for our drinks for some reason. Everyone just seem to disappear. They were very apologetic when they realised what had happened. They also advertise on their web site that they a swimming pool, but apparently it's been closed for a while.

A bit surprised on arrival (many signs) that I had to pay £20 for parking for two nights. There was an 'option' to avoid this with a club membership, but considering I'd already fully paid and there were many parking places aplenty, erm...

The hotel suits our needs well and we use it frequently in order to see family in Tunbridge Wells but the fact is it is quite scruffy. The swimming pool has been closed for ages too.

Overall, an ok stay. However our room was not ready on arrival at 3pm and we were asked to wait in a lounge area which was operating as an overspill area for a wedding which was difficult to negotiate with our luggage. Receptionist was very apologetic and chased housekeeping to get room ready as quickly as possible - just not the start to our visit that we wanted after a 5 hour drive! Bedroom was fine - spacious with a comfortable bed , but shower a bit shabby. Breakfast on both days was good value at £12 but make sure you book the night before otherwise it costs a lot more! Our experience on sunday evening was not good. The bar had run out of several beers as a result of previous day's wedding and they had decided not to serve bar food that day due to a shortage of staff, which resulted in a 10 minute wait to order a drink at the bar, as staff were working elsewhere. Common sense did prevail with the help of one staff member, we were able to order pizza which was on the restaurant menu and eat in the bar. Overall a pleasant stay but merits an average rating rather than a good.

The property looks amazing from outside, the building is dated smells like cigarettes, the check in was unfriendly and the staff member was a little rude. The room was not clean, we were 3 people the towels were only for 2 people, there was long black hair on the toilet seat and in the bath. There were also soap stains in the shower from probably other previous clients in that room. I did not have breakfast so do not know what the restaurant area looked like.

Hotel is in poor musty smelling condition. Paintwork, carpets fixings is all very old and dirty. Musty smell is so strong in the back rooms 279. Curtains are dusty and smelly. Its in desperate need of an overhaul, definitely not a 4 star rating.

We received a warm welcome from Steve on reception, who explained where everything was, and made some helpful suggestions for our stay. Our room 132 was a comfortable, quiet, corner room on the ground floor, which was spotless, and had everything we could ask for. Comfortable beds/pillows, large TV, extra heaters and a welcome fan. We enjoyed a hearty afternoon tea in the restaurant, and later, tasty, quick, room service. After an excellent nights sleep, we enjoyed a buffet style breakfast in the restaurant. Plenty of choice, clean, well stocked. A perfect overnight stay! We usually choose to stay at a Premier Inn, as you know exactly what you're going to get, and the price is competitive. Going forward, we will now be looking to stay at a Mercure hotel, as the prices are comparable, but the quality and standard of stay are certainly higher.

The hotel looks rather tired inside & the room I was in was in need of some TLC. (Room 137) particularly the bathroom. There was mildew over the tiles. Very old bath with a shower curtain that attacked you when in shower! The sink had a crack in it. The extractor in bathroom was very noisy and permanently on but seemed to be blowing air out rather than extracting it! It also smelt very odd in the bathroom! I couldn’t see how to turn off the extractor fan. So it was on very loud all night. Seemed to get noisier when the person in the room had a shower!? I wondered if their extractor was actually extracting into my bathroom? Had I realised this extractor was faulty and would get worse through the night I would’ve contacted reception. However I was exhausted after a stressful day & in bed. Obviously I didn’t sleep at all well! Noise also from people talking loudly in corridors at 4.30 am. Then again noise from cleaners at 7 am! The radiator in the bedroom looked very old and rusty. The windows were dirty. Again upon check out I would have mentioned that the extractor was faulty and I didn’t have a particularly good nights sleep but the receptionist did not ask me how my stay was. Although she did ask the couple in front of me. Perhaps when she saw my room number she didn’t dare ask!! So a disappointing stay. I’ve stated in Mercure chain of hotels before & they are normally pretty good.

If you just want to get in sleep and get out then no issues. Unfortunately our stay had lots of little niggles that just turned this to a very average stay. Breakfast was the highlight and no issues there. Very dusty air vents, radiator and TV. Other issues included the TV remote control batteries were dead, no shower gel (because the linen cupboard key had got lost?!), no beer on tap, small holes in the bed linen (but clean) along with other small but annoying things.

The horel smells damp and congested. But I didn't mind at first. I the morning I noticed blood dots on the bed when I inspected the bed it was infested with multiple fat bedbugs. They were crawling all over the bed duvet. They were horrible. I couldn't stop itching since a saw them. This is not acceptable in uk. Totally unhygienic. God only know what infections I may have caught being bitten by them all night.

The hotel as a whole was ok and comparable to premier inn, the decor is quite old and could do with a freshen up. The room was well equipped, with tea and coffee, flat screen TV and plenty of toiletries.

Disappointed that there was no air con in the hotel and especially in our bedroom. Although a fan was provided it did absolutely nothing to lower the temperature in the room . I appreciate it was a very hot weekend _ but felt more could have been done before we arrived . Maybe the fan on beforehand or the door left open ? To be honest we did not get any sleep that night ....very disappointing ....making us very tired next day . On the plus side the staff were very helpful and polite . Especially the dinning room manager .. Hopefully if we stay again this might be addressed. Yours ...Eileen Dixon

Hotel is a little dated and tired looking and the corridors smell musty. The price isn't too bad for what you get. Room was ok but unfortunately we were on the ground floor which faced onto the courtyard, there was a wedding on that night and the guests use the courtyard until 10pm and the function room is opposite so my bedroom was a bit noisy. The bed was fairly comfortable, shower was hot and the bathroom clean. The carpark is a good size but if there is a function on it's much harder to find a space. A good location to drive into Maidstone and surrounding areas. I'd like to give a special mention to Tom who checked us in and the next day he remembered to ask how our first night was and due to the noise from the wedding he gave us 2 free drinks from the bar and complementary breakfast the next day. Tom went above and beyond to make sure we felt valued and looked after, thank you Tom.

Lights didn’t work in room, bathroom central light didn’t work (mirror lights did) tired bathroom decor and a shower head that wanted to part ways with its fixture when trying to alter water pattern. Bed was comfortable.

Property is tired, there is no air conditioning so makes it very hot as windows hardly open. Could do with a tidy up, stained tiles and wallpaper is starting to peel off. Check in was not wonderful. I was told I had not paid when I had, and then was just passed the keys. Not that welcoming.

Room was small and needed updating. Lots of noise down the corridor at all times of the night, very early wake up from staff being very loud outside the room. In the restaurant the server didn’t inform us of the set menu or the deals that were on offer, the table next to us were told about it by a different server. The soup of the day was different depending on what server you got. Staff were rude and too busy setting up breakfast to deal with any queries. There is no pool. Despite it being on the fire exit maps. Staff at front desk told us it didn’t exist. If it doesn’t exist, why is it on a map. Will not be staying again

The staff at this hotel are helpful and polite. I had a minor issue with my room, I reported this to reception and they had somebody at my room in five minutes to resolve the issue. Food was good and I especially enjoyed the breakfast with a wide selection of fruits, preserves and an excellent cooked breakfast choice. I would definitely visit this hotel again, for me, the mark of excellent customer service is when something goes wrong and how the staff deal with that. Highly recommend

We received a warm welcome from Steve on reception, who explained where everything was, and made some helpful suggestions for our stay. Our room 132 was a comfortable, quiet, corner room on the ground floor, which was spotless, and had everything we could ask for. Comfortable beds/pillows, large TV, extra heaters and a welcome fan. We enjoyed a hearty afternoon tea in the restaurant, and later, tasty, quick, room service. After an excellent nights sleep, we enjoyed a buffet style breakfast in the restaurant. Plenty of choice, clean, well stocked. A perfect overnight stay! We usually choose to stay at a Premier Inn, as you know exactly what you're going to get, and the price is competitive. Going forward, we will now be looking to stay at a Mercure hotel, as the prices are comparable, but the quality and standard of stay are certainly higher.

Pretty decent stay. However the staff are rude. We were standing at the bar for 20 minutes waiting to be served a drink. When we asked the manager she replied “this is how we operate around here.” I was shocked and so was nearby guests, they even commented on her rude manner. Shame when customer service should be paramount in a hotel.

Reception staff could not find our booking. They couldn't workout that with 2 rooms and 4 guests (2 other guests had arrived 10 minutes before us) had checked both rooms in at the same time. We were accused of being rude by the duty manager. Saying no we are not paying anymore money when asking if there was a room for us isn't beeing rude. Each time we pointed out (no raised voices or foul language) that it wasn't our fault we were told not to be rude. Being told that it is down to hotels.com and not the fault of Mercure suggests that there is a training issue for the front of house staff. Room was very tired. 2 extractor fans in bathroom didn't work. 1 was in the actual shower on the wall so not surprised it didn't work. Grout needed replacing in the shower. Side jets just leaked. Desk and drawer unit has laminate lifting and needs repairing. Light bulbs in the bedside lamps were blown. Breakfast was luke warm and not hot. Will not be staying there again and not likely to stay at a Mecure property in the future either.

I made a special request on the online form for a particular type of room. This was not reflected in the welcome email from the hotel, and we were allocated the wrong type of room. Problem sorted by very helpful receptionist but it took a while. I’ve been in touch with the reception manager.

We were incredibly well looked after by all the staff we met there. We had told them my husband had mobility issues and we had a room just nearby reception and the dining area, making access really easy. They had also given us a room with 2 comfy chairs which myself, and especially my husband, really appreciated after travelling. There was a great selection of choices at breakfast, with staff replacing items as soon as they were needed. The Mercure is a great base to explore the local area, we were able to really rest and relax. We will definitely be visiting again!

Nice comfortable overnight stay for a reasonable price. Good food in the restaurant, again at a good price. Only slight criticism was that on check in and a couple of times we needed to go to reception, it wasn't manned and had to go look for someone. Would definetly use again. y

I booked 6 rooms here for friends after a Christmas party. I even went into see them to ensure the rooms were all allocated correctly. 2 double rooms and 2 lots of 2 rooms adjoining as they were families with young children. Sadly that was a waste of time as the pre allocated rooms weren’t given to them on arrival! I spent half an hour with the receptionist over a week before the party who even showed me which rooms they’d all have. The man who then checked my friends in even argued the case with them saying you Can’t allocate rooms! When you book a hotel,(and give them quite some business paying for 6 rooms) and go out your way to ensure it’s correct you expect better service! I had a family split with children all under 10 not in adjoining rooms as promised!

The hotel is nice enough, and good value for money given the area. Not in Tunbridge Wells (centre is about a 10-15 minute drive away) but close enough to be convenient. The decor (particualrly the carpets) are outdated, and my room had a slight sewage smell at times. But it was a good place to stay for working purposes.

For car drivers a handy location for A21, M25, M20 etc. 5 minutes to Tunbridge Wells (not at rush hour). The hospital is virtually next door and a 5 minute walk to the fantastic Black Horse pub and restaurant in Pembury. The hotel room felt a little tired and could do with a freshen up.

The location of the hotel was great, close to all the local amenities, free parking as long as you register your car, which isn't to big an issue. Though the car park is poorly lit at the entrance and some parts of the car park. Cigarette butts, near the entrance of the hotel. Though NO blame on the hotel, just the disrespectful guests. The accommodation was lovely in most parts, everything in your room for your stay. The corridors were cold, was the only downside. All the staff were so lovely, they really went the extra mile. Especially Lisa and Ernest at breakfast were so informative and Just made the stay very enjoyable. My partner and I would recommend this hotel to stay in.

Very nice little hotel in the countryside which is with close proximity to the A21. Staff were all very helpful, polite and friendly. Facilities in the hotel were very good, although the room could do with a little modernization to include USB charging points and bedside cabinets on both sides of the bed. Also, the bathroom could do with being updated. Would stay here again though.

We are regular customers and we like this hotel (even though it’s a bit dated!). Good location for us to visit family in Tunbridge Wells, and close to major road network. Rooms are quite well equipped (much better than a Hilton we stayed in the previous night at twice the price!)

The room was very nice and comfortable. The buffet breakfast was excellent and the staff were very friendly. We weren't impressed with the restaurant and only ate in there on our first night. They didn't have the first couple of meals I chose, which was steak and salmon. I ended up having a chicken tika curry, which was very good. We also ended up waiting 20 minutes for our drinks for some reason. Everyone just seem to disappear. They were very apologetic when they realised what had happened. They also advertise on their web site that they a swimming pool, but apparently it's been closed for a while.

Overall, an ok stay. However our room was not ready on arrival at 3pm and we were asked to wait in a lounge area which was operating as an overspill area for a wedding which was difficult to negotiate with our luggage. Receptionist was very apologetic and chased housekeeping to get room ready as quickly as possible - just not the start to our visit that we wanted after a 5 hour drive! Bedroom was fine - spacious with a comfortable bed , but shower a bit shabby. Breakfast on both days was good value at £12 but make sure you book the night before otherwise it costs a lot more! Our experience on sunday evening was not good. The bar had run out of several beers as a result of previous day's wedding and they had decided not to serve bar food that day due to a shortage of staff, which resulted in a 10 minute wait to order a drink at the bar, as staff were working elsewhere. Common sense did prevail with the help of one staff member, we were able to order pizza which was on the restaurant menu and eat in the bar. Overall a pleasant stay but merits an average rating rather than a good.

Menu choice for dinner was very limited. Paid extra £10 a room to pay at hotel. When arrived to check in payment had already been taken! No mention of refunding the £10 for each room.

The stay was great and comfortable. Restaurant food seems warmed up and not fresh. The wifi is only good for emails and not good at all for anything else, downloads, streaming , apps have to refresh all the time.

Hotel was fine but the staff could have been better. Ignored at reception when trying to check in as he clearly had some important paperwork to do. I ordered a starter which came out on a hot plate but the food was cold in the middle. When l asked for it to be heated up which they did it felt like the staff were asking me sarcastically if it was hot enough for me given the number of times they asked. Overall not a great experience.

This was a clean hotel , bed was comfy. Breakfast was buffet style with hot and cold options. Parking was ample . I visited the restaurant in the evening. Service from waiting staff was good . The hotel decor was very in keeping with late 1990s hotels I used to stay in for work. I don't think there has been any refurbishment since then and the room looks tired and tatty. If I paid half the price I did, it would still be overpriced for what it is. Didn't have breakfast as I was eating else where. Finally there is a £10 parking charge per night, which is ridiculous. Wouldn't go back there again, once was enough for me.
The hotel decor was very in keeping with late 1990s hotels I used to stay in for work. I don't think there has been any refurbishment since then and the room looks tired and tatty. If I paid half the price I did, it would still be overpriced for what it is. Didn't have breakfast as I was eating else where. Finally there is a £10 parking charge per night, which is ridiculous. Wouldn't go back there again, once was enough for me.
