Hotel Dega

We liked that our view was facing the water & we had a balcony. We also liked that we had a refrigerator & a microwave. One thing that was disappointing was that the spa wasn't available & we didn't know that ahead of time.

Nice waterfront hotel newly remodeled. Has limited front desk/ concierge from 12-8 pm and very limited amenities. No room service and limited housekeeping (24 hr. advance request) Room was very spacious, modern, with a balcony facing the ocean, fireplace (very needed as it was very chilly outside) and very clean. It comes with a Keurig coffee maker, microwave and mini fridge which offset the lack of a buffet breakfast area, so common this days. Units are spread around the property common grounds with only stairs to access. NO elevators but there are some ground units for ADA compliance. In general was a nice quiet stay.

The hot tub jets did not work.

Location was great. But the hot tub was not usable (one reason we booked here) and there was no wifi which really was a necessity given service on the area is almost none. Online booking also showed check in was 3pm but hotel made it clear when messaging me and on the summary email that check in is 4-6:30. Never had a hard stop to check in. Makes it challenging on a Friday when leaving after work and with SF traffic.

Parking was easy. I checked in late due to a flight delay and struggled because the front desk was closed. Someone did respond via text very quickly though and they gave me a map which was nice. The room was decent and you could tell that it was remodeled. The bathroom, however, was disgusting. It smelled really bad and the floors were clearly not redone as they were very old vinyl-looking tile dots that were dirty and moldy. One walk into the bathroom left us with really dirty socks. Yuck! None of the pictures have that room’s bathroom which would lead me to believe that only some of them are done being remodeled. Overall, the bathroom experience overtook any other positive experience.

The property has been completely renovated and continues on the putsode. The rooms are super spacious with views of Bodega Bay. Big hot tub renovation is in the works currently and should be open soon.

The property is pretty. The hot tub didnt work. Wifi didnt work, which meant tv didnt work. The sheets were dirty on one of the beds.

The shower door was a half door and on the wrong side so you had to try to shower in the back corner and clean up water on the bathroom floor after the shower. They are trying to run this like an ARB and B and there was a very limited time window where there was staff at the front desk. The hot tub was not running and full of dirt.

The property has been updated, staff and service is excellent, the rooms are clean with a large flat screen TV, refrigerator, Keurig, microwave and many opportunities to plug in devices/charge. I loved the hot tub/jacuzzi. Plus we have a bay view and an outside sitting area. It’s also pet friendly!

1st, they charged my room weeks early even though it clearly stated I would not be charged until arrival. 1st room had dead ants and hair on the linens, live ants in room. 2nd room really dirty linen with long hair and what appeared to be used sheets, no functioning TV, dried milk on coffee bar. 3rd room no screen door, chair, stains on linen and a couple hairs. Patio floor was 1/3 rotten, definitely a safety hazard and door was difficult to close and lock. There is no staff after 4 except the manager who is there for check in. Hot tub was out of commission We spent 2 hours waiting for a semi clean room and were provided 4 clean pillow cases for 8 pillows. While initially the manager was apologetic, by the third room she told us this was it, she could offer nothing else and some hair on linens was acceptable and part of having a linen service, and yes I do have pictures of it all. I have stayed at dozens of hotels through Expedia and have never been charged outside of the timeline promised, had an active bug issue, needed to change rooms due to cleanliness not once, let alone three times. Not an enjoyable experience at all.

The self check-in system is flawed at best. I will say the manager, Lisa is polite and welcoming. You have a great view of the bay from your room. 10/10 Here’s the problems I had: Our bedsheets seemed unchanged. There was dust and some hair on our blankets. It wasn’t that dirtiest thing I’ve ever slept in, but it definitely wasn’t freshly cleaned. 2/10 The rooms look like they were recently renovated, but it was very lipstick on a pig vibes For example, the shower door was on the wrong side so when you take a shower, the water just splatters all over the bathroom floor. The sink had no caulking around it. You could see the old wallpaper print through the paint on the wall. Etc. However, it is what it is that didn’t bother me too much. We had some snacks in our room and I guess because we brought food in our hotel — we woke up to a crazy amount of ants. In our bed on the floor all over the desk on the walls everywhere. And no, not food sitting out, not sugary Gummies just some regular snacks in packaging. And some leftover food in our trashcan. I did text the manager about that upon checkout she said she would get back to me, but never did. 0/10 I was under the impression that we would have access to a hot tub, and that was part of the reason for booking my stay however it was under construction, completely emptied and roped off with caution tape—-which killed the vibe of the view from my room, not gonna lie. 1/10 I don’t recommend for the price it is.

An old foam mattress with big dips on either side and a hump in the middle. Very uncomfortable. No soap in the bathroom. Front desk blew me off when I went and ask for some. Told me they would bring me some later. They never did. The sink was slow and backed up. Very difficult to get to room with a heavy suitcase. Had to get it up 3 flights of outdoor cement stairs. Was afraid I'd brake my wheels. No soda machines. Bathroom towels smelled like they were washed with greasy kitchen towels. Smelly like greese. One of the most expensive rooms on our trip but worst experiences.

Room wasn’t clean. Staff wasn’t helpful. I paid for two nights and left after the first night. The room had an overpowering smell of some type of Febreeze like odor. Even though I would lose money, or pay for a room and not use it,I left. I went to the Bodega Lodge and had a great experience. I only wish I had picked that first.

Property was awesome!! Only complaint is that the room floors turned our feet black. Mopping is definitely needed. Other than that, property was perfect! We will be back.

Bed had sand in it. Bathroom not swept.

property is in transition / being remodeled, room was nice, however it had an Ant problem. surrounding grounds were dirt, spa area in total disassembly / construction not usable for the near future. Has potential to be very nice but not at this time or in the near future. If we knew what state it was in would not have booked..

Check-in was a breeze, and the front desk gal was an absolute delight—charming, efficient, and clearly winning at hospitality. First impressions of the king suite were great: stylish, modern, and freshly updated. Unfortunately, it also came with a side of “Eau de Pine-Sol” so intense it could qualify as a third guest. We opened every window and door in a desperate attempt to air it out, but the scent stood its ground like a pine-scented fog of war. By bedtime, my sinuses were staging a protest, and the birthday getaway vibe had definitely taken a hit. The silver lining? By morning, we could breathe like humans again. Now, about those windows: charming in theory, but none of them had screens. The bedroom window opened right onto a sidewalk, which meant a parade of passing strangers just a few feet away. With no A/C and a security risk that felt more “live stage performance” than “private suite,” we ended up sweating it out with the windows closed. The bed also had... character. The headboard was completely detached from the wall, and according to my husband, his side of the bed offered a gentle downhill slope—ideal for sledding, not so much for sleeping. All that said, I actually really like this place. It has great bones and a lot of potential. I’d absolutely come back, but next time I’ll book a second or third-floor room, and I’ll be calling ahead to make sure it doesn’t smell like a pine forest exploded indoors.

This is an excellent hotel! When we arrived, we were greeted by Lisa and she gave us a great restaurant recommendation that was dog friendly. The room was really spacious and so was the bathroom!! The TV was huge and right above an electric fireplace that put out a ton of heat! The room had a small patio off the sliding glass door and the view was of the bay! Not only would I stay there again, I'd recommend this hotel to anyone who is planning a trip to Bodega Bay!!

I had a room that had no shower door and I was not told of this. And there were people walking all night long you could hear footsteps until 3:00 in the morning. I could not sleep at all

Would be only slightly better if they had a fan or AC or a screen on the door so you can open up and cool off

The only negative. No air conditioner and we had the bottom level so we couldn’t open windows.

The only thing we didnt enjoy was the inconsistency with the WiFi. We thought maybe the issue was that the hotel had a full house and many users on the WiFi network at the same time. But in the mid day hours there wasn’t one cart the hotel leading us to think there was an empty house. Other than the WiFi, place is quiet clean a was great. I’d return again

The room was spacious and the added feature of the fireplace made it very inviting. Our room overlooked the water and we enjoyed watching the boats while drinking our coffee in the morning. Definitely a highlight on our trip. Convenient location and easy parking. We’ll be back!

My wife and I had been to this property before. The staff is wonderful and friendly the property has been renovated since our last stay. We learned the property is under new ownership. They took out the fireplaces and replaced them with gas fireplaces which are the only heat source. The only true complaint we had was the WiFi. It worked very poorly at best. It’s not important but without cable at the property we wanted to stream our shows and half way through a program the WiFi would go out. Sooo probably will try a different property next time.

This property is a gem with balconies for each room overlooking the bay with beautiful views. It’s completely renovated except the windows and sliders. We had a bottom floor with only a sliding door but no screen so we could not sleep with the slider open missing out on the breeze and sounds of the ocean. This might not be an issue in winter, but it would’ve been a nice option on the summer days we stayed. We loved the new style and decor. Having a fridge and microwave was very convenient. We will stay again for sure but hoping for a room with a screen on the window.

Rooms were newly remodeled with a more modern decor style. Rooms had plenty of space, but there was no seating, so your choice was really only to sit on the bed. Outside seating area was nice. Beds were conformable. No traditional cable, tv was app based, and the WiFi was a bit spotty at times, but it was only really an issue in the evening as you were winding down. Staff was amazing and super helpful. Would absolutely stay here again

The hotel was ok. There are no people there working at night so the check in was a little tricky, but they were responsive at the number provided. Def some work going on to update the hotel. It is in a nice area with a good view of the bay.

Extremely Disappointing Experience – Not As Advertised We booked our stay at Bodega Bay Coast Inn and Suites, only to arrive and find it had been rebranded as Hotel Dega — with no prior notice. To make matters worse, the directions we were given were completely inaccurate, causing a two-hour delay and forcing us to search for a gas station just to make a call, as the service was patchy and we couldn’t reach anyone reliably. While the woman at the front desk was kind and apologetic, promising a refund toward our stay, that refund was never issued — and follow-up calls were eventually ignored. We tried calling three separate times to check in and were essentially ghosted. The room itself left much to be desired. The door didn’t open properly with the code and didn’t close securely. There were no phones in the room, and the front desk is only available from 12pm–8pm, which left us without any support when we needed it. That night, the TV had no internet connection, and we had to call a third-party line in another country just to get the internet turned on. The next morning, there was no hot water — and once again, we had to contact a third party for assistance. The photos on the website are misleading. The actual experience did not reflect the quality we expected. We’ve never left a negative review before, but this experience was incredibly frustrating and disappointing. We would not recommend staying here.

Fireplace makes it feel even more cozy. Appreciated Kureg coffee maker, fridge, and microwave. Hot water is awesome (very hot) so showering was very nice. No key cards all by code. Pet friendly. The only downside from visiting Bodega Bay was there wasn’t many breakfast areas to eat. Dega Hotel needs to remove breakfast included off the website.

Different way of checking in for a hotel. It's all via text and mobile. You receive constant IMs from the host -- many helpful, but some not so much. (e.g., their online system for providing a credit card for incidentals never worked after three texts about it.) The host is very responsive to IMs. Check-in was very pleasant and efficient. It's all keyless entry. The rooms appeared to be recently renovated, probably in line with the name change (from Bodega Coast Inn and Suites.) The shower stalls are odd, as there is only a half glass door on the furthest portion, so water pools on the handle side on the floor! It takes one bath towel to soak it all up! But, at least you know the floors are clean. No bar/hand soap, so bring your own or use the body wash supplied. Also, since we're on the coast, there is no A/C. However, there should be a screen door on the slider to get fresh air in and to keep critters out, no? Odd. Parking is adequate for the size of the property.

Very clean room, staff were able to accommodate an early and easy check in and were responsive with a quick reply when questions came up about TV access.

I appreciate the speedy check in , friendly staff , clean room , good views , close to everything , and quit it was a very comfortable stay , will be booking again thank you for everything !

Although the hotel room itself was fine, the check-in experience was unsatisfactory. When we first tried to check in, the hotel employee requested I come back in 10 minutes. We used the time to go nearby and get coffee but when we came back the door was locked with a sign that we had to call a number to check in. That involved an unpleasant experience and in fact required help from the hotel cleaning crew to finally get access to the room. The room code to enter we were assigned did not work and we needed a new one. Other than the cleaning crew individuals we worked with, who were very nice, the customer service was poor.

Staff were helpful and friendly. Fixed my sliding door immediately after I couldn’t lock it. Comfortable bed. The tv needs directions. I could not adjust the volume. It would be nice to have a few utensils: spoon, fork, wine glass. Thanks for welcoming my dog. I would definitely return.

After a long day drive from San Jose to Bodega, we reached the hotel at 5PM and the room was not ready for my family. I was truly disappointed as we were tired and wanted to rest. Lisa was a great help. She apologized made sure the room gets cleaned asap. I feel, they should keep some coffee at front desk for the guests who are waiting. Anyways, overall, our stay was good after that, the balcony opened to the bay view. They do not have any in-house kitchen but there are good restaurants at a walking distance and an early morning coffee/ice cream shop adjacent. For the inconvenience caused to us on the first day due to delay in preparing of our room, we were compensated with $100 off per night. We may opt for another place next time.

Property is in a great location in Bodega Bay. It’s walking distance to the bird walk, beach and restaurants. Our check in was smooth but there was an issue in the room we were assigned. Lisa at the front desk was so helpful and went above and beyond to upgrade us to a new room. We had an issue with the electric fireplace not working but that was eventually fixed. Beds were comfortable. Must go to the Fishetarian. We also had a lovely dinner at Drakes. It’s worth the 5 minute drive to Sea Flower Cafe for a breakfast burrito and espresso.

The location of the property is perfect, just outside of town and all rooms face the ocean. The sunset is stunning. Amy gave us an upgrade and was really great at check in. The rooms are very comfortable, huge bed, giant TV and a fireplace underneath. The balconies are the perfect spot to watch the sunset. I wish I could have stayed longer

Room was newly renovated and lovely. The road to food is very tricky, no shoulder or sidewalk for walking so recommend driving to Dinner options. Excellent view, lovely balcony - all we could hear was water and birds!

Beautiful spot overlooking the bay. Rooms were clean comfortable and modern. Staff was extremely friendly and convenient dining option a block away at the marina.

Restaurants are located within walking distance. The room was perfect for my quick getaway. It is such a beautiful place with wonderful staff, i recommend this property.

The location is great. We were very disappointed having been misled that breakfast was included. (Coffee in room was it). We also were looking forward to the hot tub. It was padlocked closed. Beds are comfortable. I strongly recommend changing the website so as to not to continue false advertising re: breakfast and hot tub.
