Pet friendly hotel with convenient courtyard. The gentleman at the front desk in the morning was very helpful at the breakfast room, and assisted us with confirming Grapevine closures (none today!). Friendly staff for both check in and out.

We stayed the night on our roadtrip up the coast. This was by far the dirtiest hotels we've stayed at thus far. The lady who checked us in was nice but thats about the highlight. The room was pretty gross and in disrepair. The floor left our feet dirty and the shower/sink were so dirty we didn't use it. Plus the room smelt really weird. The only redeeming factor is the sheets we're clean when checked with a flashlight. So i guess thats good. The breakfast was very disappointing. Not a buffet like we saw in other pictures. The room smelt really gross so we didnt trust eating anything. Pool was shut down a couple months ago and for good reason. Looks like its been abandoned for years. The only time we told somewhere where we were staying the night just to be safe. We probably should have just slept in the car

Rooms were nice! We had a nice mini fridge and a good working microwave nice tv and a big bath tub. this one is starred on my favorite list, plus the gentleman who checked us in and out were very friendly and personable.

The National 9 is a motor lodge, that we basically always stay at between San Francisco and Las Vegas or vice versa. If you stay, you can avoid going into Bakersfield. The property is immaculate, there is a Starbucks in the parking lot. The pool is great, the staff is wonderful, a fine, safe, pleasant stay always.

Clean room, friendly staff, some snacks in morning and decent coffee, worth it. I pulled back the sheets to check the bed it was perfectly white looks like new mattress.

I've always liked this hotel compared to others in Buttonwillow, and it was cleaner this time, with significant upgrades - new matress, nice floral sheets, spiffy red microwave, and very clean. This aging facility is well-managed and on its way to better days. I was grateful, and at the price point had reasonable expectations.

You will notice upon arrival that the property is run down. The front door was dirty and it only got worse from there. Floors so dirty my husband went and asked for a broom and dust pan along with Lysol and cleaning clothes. They offered to move us to another room, but he said I don’t expect another room will be any better. The sink would fill upon normal use then slowly drain. The toilet stopped up. The sheets and bedding were old. Cob webs on the ceiling, bugs in the light fixtures, heavy dirt in corners of bathroom. Killed several silverfish. When the AC came on it smelled up the room as if the filter had never been changed. The refrigerator froze our food so we had to throw a lot of it away. All I can say was the beds were not to hard. Traveler beware!

No phone in room. Shower head broken off. No light in shower. Towels were old and worn-out. Bugs. Refrigerator was so off balance, it would fall over if i didn't hold it up while opening it. Temperature control in fridge broken. When i tried to open a drawer in dresser, the handle came right off in my hand. All together I would rank it as one of the worst hotels we have stayed in on this trip.

Do not watch the pictures they post on their booking profile. The room is not clean. The windowsills are dirty. The small ac units blow out air that smells funky. There was a dead roach under the sink in one of the rooms. They should not be charging a premium price for this place. There were no eggs for breakfast. Just a few bagels and some cereal flakes. That was it!

Very noisy. Walls are paper thin so you can hear conversations in the adjoining rooms. Hotel is located right next to the freeway so you also have road noise. Best part of the experience was the friendly girl that checked me in.

The room they gave me at first, the A/C was broken and it was 90 F outside after sunset. Staff switched me to another room, no quibbles, with working A/C. While it is convenient to I-5, it was far enough away the room was reasonably quiet. Nice basic place, lots of restaurant options within walking distance.

There were no problems during my one night stay but the conditions were not 7.2 (the rating at the time I booked). The motel met my needs so it was adequate. There was a strong odor in the air around the motel. It smelled like fertilizer or a backed up sewer line. It was strongest between the two buildings where my room was at. The other thing that bothered me was the clientele. There were half a dozen individuals (separately) smoking and/or drinking alcohol in the parking lot or in the grassy area between buildings. I assume they were guests. They didn't harass anyone as far as I witnessed. However, the look of men smoking and drinking is unsavory. I imagine women traveling alone or in groups would have been leery. The room itself was clean but definitely shabby. Peeling paint, the flimsy shower curtain was too narrow for the length of the rod, etc. Interestingly, they didn't ask me for a security deposit. Location is convenient. It is right next to the I-5 onramp/offramp. I didn't hear any highway noises from my room. It is conveniently located on the interstate highway between SF and LA. When I search for hotels/motels, I filter on 7.0 ratings and higher. I would rate this one 6 or 6.5. Maybe I'll start filtering on 8.0 and above to leave some cushion for score inflation and subjectivity.

Typical motel, ample parking. Rooms were kinda retro with bedspreads and microwave. Decent property and Overall quiet. Cons...had to click toilet handle a few times to stop it from running. Breakfast was ok coffee and cookies,cupcake,twinkies, apples,cereal. More appropriate would have also preferred cinnamin rolls or danish. Seems motel is struggling after pandemic. Checkin was quick, friendly and easy. Of note, not that we ever use it. Rooms have no phones. Cable tv was a bit fuzzy.

Don't opt for the double room suite. Nothing sweet about it. Outdated. No tv's in room and a little living room with one recliner and a big kitchen table that a tv is on that only gets analog static channels. Just get two cheap rooms next to each other.

Everything is old (70s) but clean. Except for the chairs, they are very stained. Definitely recommended for overnight rest. I stayed as a mid point from Chula Vista to Berkeley.

Steer clear of this place. Im sure there are better options in the area. The guy at the counter gave me the wrong room number on the card and I walked into someone else’s room. When I got home the next day, i found that they never handed me back my drivers license. I called and asked if they could overnight it, but they couldnt. I said i would pick it up and i drove two hours to pick it up, then they said “i can offer you 50% off if you stay here tonight”. When i picked it up, the guy at the next shift who i picked up my license from wouldnt let me use their restroom, after i had driven two hours one way to pick it up. He said “guests only” and i said “i stayed here last night and drove two hours to pickup my license, which you guys forgot to hand back.” He gave me a blank stare like deer in headlights. These people are incompetent and the rooms were noisy, especially if you have a freeway facing room. I was up all night from the freeway noise during my stay.

It was astounding to be treated with gracious hospitality both checking in and, especially, by the fine young man who gave us our coffee even though we missed breakfast! I've never seen such kindness. What a guy.

Got stuck in a winter storm along our trip and had to find a place to crash for the night and National 9 Inn had a room for us. Alisa @ the front desk did amazing, she was helpful and witty at 3 am as we just needed sleep.

This is not my first time staying here, and it will not be my last! Staff is so friendly and always happy to accommodate your needs.

The room they gave me at first, the A/C was broken and it was 90 F outside after sunset. Staff switched me to another room, no quibbles, with working A/C. While it is convenient to I-5, it was far enough away the room was reasonably quiet. Nice basic place, lots of restaurant options within walking distance.

Very clean hotel. Its right off I5 & perfect as a waypoint stop heading North or South. Buttonwillow is about half way between SF/Sac & San Diego

Quite close to the I-5, so you get a lot of freeway noise. However, you can't beat the price and the hotel, though dated, seems well cared for. The breakfast choices are minimal, but there is a Starbucks next door, as well as electric vehicle chargers.

Very good customer service. Safe place to park with a loaded car. Room was not super nice or fancy but had all needed to enjoy a restful sleep. And free breakfast included.

Staff was awesome, room was clean, bed & pillows pretty comfy. The fridge in the room was not super mini style which we appreciated. Very good value for our brief overnight stay while traveling. They even gave us bottled water when checking out! And I loved the Keurig coffee options during free breakfast window. Thanks for a good stay. Tip: the Indian restaurant next door has great food!

Check-in was pleasant and Ted was friendly and considerate. I asked for a quiet room and was given one. The room was clean and included the proper amount of towels. Walking distance for a variety of places to eat. Breakfast that was included at National 9 Inn was great. Good bagels and coffee. All in all I had a wonderful stay.

Very good value for the money. Staff is notably pleasant and welcoming. Nice, simple continental breakfast offerings. Close to freeway, yet quiet. I have stayed several times and consistently good experiences.

I had mixed feelings when I arrived as I started reading the reviews AFTER I booked. The room was a bit dated but super clean! Adorable hotel with a great area for dogs. It was perfect for a night's stay.The front desk staff was so friendly! They totally helped me get checked in and gave me recommendations for where I can get some food. I got a great night's rest. Nice & simple continental breakfast. If you're stopping through, I would definitely stay here!

Typical motel, ample parking. Rooms were kinda retro with bedspreads and microwave. Decent property and Overall quiet. Cons...had to click toilet handle a few times to stop it from running. Breakfast was ok coffee and cookies,cupcake,twinkies, apples,cereal. More appropriate would have also preferred cinnamin rolls or danish. Seems motel is struggling after pandemic. Checkin was quick, friendly and easy. Of note, not that we ever use it. Rooms have no phones. Cable tv was a bit fuzzy.

Overall, for what you pay, you get a very good room and service. Even free breakfast! Friendly staff sure want you to feel at home.

The price of the rooms definitely match the quality in terms of amenities. With that being said, the room I stayed in was clean and comfortable which is all I needed! Staff was very polite. Breakfast was basic but again, for the price, I was surprised any sort of food was offered. Definitely recommend for a budget friendly option for those needing a spot to take the night. Also had a great great great food truck at the end of the property.

My initial room was upstairs but the AC was broken, The clerk told me, "I have a downstairs room, is that ok ?" Why wouldn't it be ok ? Well, I found out. The full-timers are on the first floor. You can tell by the drying clothes draped over the chair just outside their room. There was also a large dog barking periodically in the next room as well as noises in the middle of the night. The hotel is cheap and it shows. Bring a white noise sound machine for whatever floor you sleep on.

We have been dedicated customers for five years staying a couple of weeks out of most months but this last trip they lost us the weather report said 105-110 for two weeks and we do t have air conditioning so I rang Peter the manager told him were checking in for the air conditioning well go home when the temperature gets normal he said no problem we're always cool here we checked into room 106 the third day there it was going to be 107 in Buttonwillow they turned the air conditioning offfor five hours we confronted them they blamed the power company we rang the company they said it's a voluntary power saver program not for commercial buildings he pled ignorance the next day it was 105 they turned it off for five hours again two days later the temps were 102-105 they did it twice more Now as for cleanliness we've been telling them for two years the carpet squares are so ingrained with filth if you walk bare foot your feet get black nothing has been done the water tap in the shower regularly shoots off and in one room they duct taped a hole in the bathtub and in our room the tub feels like it's giving way and the tv constantly freezes or flickering non stop we've asked nicely that they fix these things but nothing is ever done properly and the pool has green mould growing Peter and Ted we've spent thousands with you we've asked you time and time again and you did nothing so now we're taking our money down the road your loss

Check-in was easy. The hotel was almost empty. The man at the desk was very friendly. The beds were comfortable. There was a minimal amount of amenities - small packets of shampoo and soap. The beds were comfortable. The bathroom and shower were a bit old. I would probably not stay there again.

This is a nice older property. The rooms were clean and the staff were excellent. We had a small issue with the remote for the TV. The issue was handled right away.
