We stayed here for one night which was fine as a stop off to san fran. Pool was really dirty and closed at 5pm when we arrived which was a shame as it was very hot. Room was run down, bedding had cigarette burns in sheet/blanket. Room was clean though. We paid minimal for it and was ok for a stop over. Staff were nice, breakfast was ok, 2 cereals, OJ and waffles - coffee available all day.

Rooms were clean ac worked good pool was not working and stinks like a dirty fish tank I asked before checking in if pool was open they stated that the pump has been broke for some time so they just don’t turn it on when we came back from dinner there was a father and son swimming in the nasty pool that was closed but not locked to prevent people from entering stay was good besides the pool and our room was right next to the pool so it constantly smelled if the pool was clean would rate it a 4 out of 5

Second stay here! When I return to an accommodation, its usually because of the staff! The Vagabond Buttonwillow is no exception! From the GM, Kathy and George and Stephanie- such an award winning and friendly team! A great location for me when working outside of LA, and such a pleasant and accommodating staff- why wouldnt anyone stay here. The free coffee and breakfast is not advertised on line, but is always a nice added touch. Some may say " its only waffles and cereal", I say " what are you complaining about its a free extra value built into the already low price! If you want bigger varierty, Starbucks is 2 blocks away. The pool is nice and clean and enjoyable too. Great place!

The most perfect pitstop to get back on the road. breakfast is at a very generous time laundry on site. The staff is very efficient and attentive. I had a very quiet and peaceful sleep.

Rust at bottom of outer tube. Bathroom door needs replacing. Wifi was fine. comfortable bed. Face cloth was too small (child size). Freezer in fridge did not freeze! Pool was closed due to chemical problem. Chemical should be checked minimum of 2X per day! May decide to stay elsewhere next time in Buttonwillow.

Our stay was terrible. Despite the low price and motel's nature, our experience was awful. The room smelled bad, there were cockroaches everywhere, the bedroom floor was dirty, and the fridge didn't work despite being plugged in. The mattress and pillows were uncomfortable, causing us neck and back pain. The breakfast was unappealing and served on a dirty counter. The toilet in our room was unflushed, and the swimming pool water was cloudy. The liner was dirty too. Overall, we wanted a quick and easy one-night stay on our way home, but we deeply regretted staying here. We don't recommend this place. The staff was friendly, but they wouldn't give us a refund since we booked through a third party. Beware and stay away!

We stayed here one night on our roadtrip from So. Cal to Seattle because it was convenient and inexpensive. The exterior looked nice enough and the lady at the front desk was friendly. Unfortunately, the room smelled like it had been sprayed with a ton of Febreze to cover up the fact that it was barely cleaned. There was human hair on the bedding and the floors were dirty. The lower part of the walls were brown and disintegrating in places (possible mold..?) There were kids stickers on the mirror. The bath towels were about as big as a hand towel, no hairdryer and no bedside lamps (just very bright spotlights). We would have left after seeing (smelling) the room but is was after 11pm at this point and we were exhausted. Don't stay here unless you're really on a budget and can overlook odor and filth.

The room smelled bad, the room was not very clean. The bed sheets had cigarette burns on them. The bathroom had what looked to be like mold and bath tub was very nasty and peeling. The water wouldn’t go down while showering. The blow dryer was broken didn’t work.

Stayed here last minute unfortunately. Room was disgusting, floors and walls were filthy I’m pretty sure there was semen on the wall that hadn’t been cleaned spider webs and dead bugs, smelled musty, curtains were falling off the window, bathroom light didn’t work. Shower head was broken and tub was slow to drain. The towels and the bed had hair on them. You only get 2 pillows and they’re dirty. Bed makes all kinds of noise. Place is run down,0/10 do not recommend staying here.

Old and run down. Shower if you don’t adjust just right it will burn you. Old old bath tub with rust stain. Bed was very comfortable though. At 2am office gave my room key, wrongly assigned and was trying to get in and woke me up. Left next day early cause of this. Very noisy cause it’s closest to HWY 5 than other hotels. But I did not feel unsafe there. Owner needs to give some TLC. I will pay little bit more and stay some other property for sure next time.

I was there with my 3 years old daughter and wife to sleep over after a long drive during our road trip. Here is my advice If you are staying to sleep for a night this works as cheapest option but be prepared for unpleasant surprises. Make sense since they are very affordable. In first room we were assigned the light wasn't working, in second locks were faulty but third room was perfect, has nice beds and clean bathrooms that's all I wanted for the night. They have free breakfast, waffle milk and orange juice and also coffee in morning from 6-9 AM

The property was clean but old and worn. Had a lot of flies in my room. The pillows were too small and there were only two of them. The noise from the highway was constant and it’s obvious they don’t have any noise suppression in their rooms. It was fine for an overnight stay, but I don’t think I’d want a longer stay. But the staff were pleasant and I do think they’re trying hard to make it a pleasant experience, but it just falls a little short.

Wifi service ended a few feet from the office and my non-smoking room smelled of smoke. The bathroom shower had a badly dripping faucet--dripping water splashed onto the 'fresh' towel and the bathroom door was so rusted and swollen that we couldn't close it. We reported it. Otherwise, the staff was friendly and the included breakfast was good.

The breakfast was marginally OK. Waffles with no butter or margarine. No fresh fruit. No bread, toast or muffins. No yogurt. No hot cereal and only sugar coated dry cereals. The hot drink options were, however, very good. The room was adequate, however the space was run down with lights that didn’t work or flickered, an outlet that didn’t work and paint peeling in the bathroom. Also the bathroom door was damaged, mended with tape and didn’t close correctly or lock.

Beds made lot of sound even if moved a bit. Shower doesn’t work and it leaks drop by drop. Fridge is dummy. As it is on the road side there is lot of vehicle sound. Breakfast has cereals, coffee, waffle.

The area was full of flies, and one of the ceiling lights did not work and was constant flickering. There did not seem to be wifi in the room. Overall the hotel was fine for overnight stay, but there are areas for improvement.

For the money that I paid for the room I got way more than expected. I just needed to sleep 2-3 hours to take a break while driving long distance and didn’t want to spend to much for unnecessary conditions, however I was pleased to be welcomed by a friendly staff, easy check in, clean place, fridge in the room, Wi-Fi, AC, and bed was pretty comfortable.
For the money that I paid for the room I got way more than expected. I just needed to sleep 2-3 hours to take a break while driving long distance and didn’t want to spend to much for unnecessary conditions, however I was pleased to be welcomed by a friendly staff, easy check in, clean place, fridge in the room, Wi-Fi, AC, and bed was pretty comfortable.

I reserved a room with 2 queen beds. When I arrived they said they didn’t have any. I was traveling with my husband and 2 children so I needed the 2 beds. I said I had to find another hotel and when I asked for a refund they said I would have to go through Expedia. Expedia contacted them to confirm this and they denied my refund. I’ve had to go through the HUGE inconvenience of finding a new hotel at the last minute and have now spent over an hour dealing with Expedia only for them to deny my refund

The hotel room itself was fine but after a 6 hour drive and being night time I go to check into my room and the lady at the desk said she was ending her shift in 15 minutes and would not be able to help me. That'd I'd have to wait outside until the next shift started. If ur shift doesn't end for another 15 minutes she should have helped me. If this is a thing there should be some sort of warning that check in times are not allowed 15 minutes prior to an employees shift ending. Not only did she have me but 3 other people trying to check in as well waiting. I've never heard of not being able to help a customer because ur shift ends in 15 minutes. My room was already paid for. She had a smile on her face and was obviously trying to leave to see her boyfriend who was hanging around. Because of this employee I will never be booking a room with this hotel again. She should be fired honestly. Late at night, after driving for hours all I wanted was to check in and go to sleep. Horrible service. The employee after her handled it well since she had angry customers to deal with. The employee that left even said good luck to her as she walked out the door.

I prepaid my reservation but when I arrived at the hotel they couldn’t find my reservation, thinking that the reservation didn’t go through. I went online and booked a second reservation for the same time - when they finally found my prepaid reservation (after three hours wait) and gave me my room then they double charged me And charged me again for the same room on the second reservation that I explained to them I only made because they told me they couldn’t find my original reservation. The car at the desk assured me that they wouldn’t not charge me on the second reservation however, when I called customer service, they told me that the hotel refused to refund the deposit that they charged me for not arriving on the second reservation, even though I was there.

Stayed here many times. The noise level from I-5 is high, but it is high at the other hotels here as well. Breakfast is limited. Staff is friendly. Ok for a quick overnight stop.

We stayed in a room facing the highway. Very loud. The breakfast area was out of most items that they normally have. We stay here regularly, but this time they disappointed us a little. Staff was great!

The hotel is very conveniently ppaced next to the 5. A few chain restsurants around and some decently priced gas. Being close to the 5 it is a bit noisy but the rooms do a decent job of blocking out the sound. Safe spot, lots of CHP rolling through at a pretty regular place. If youre just looking for a cheap spot to stay on a long road trip this place is perfect.

Perfect spot for traveling down California. Pretty much what you expect room wise. Bed was comfortable. Water pressure was fine. Great Value and convenient being next to the highway for travelers.

It was a motel 6 with a Vagabond sign. The tv didn’t work and sink/bathroom area needs Sheetrock repair and paint. The “breakfast “. Was a waffle maker, cereal (Frosted Flakes) and juice. But there was no butter….. zero protein options making only coffee for diabetics

The price was right. A paint brush and 2 hours in The room would make it look less shabby and cleaner, the bed was comfortable. Unfortunately when the room next to us was rented at 1:30am you would hear every noise! Breakfast was nasty

The breakfast was marginally OK. Waffles with no butter or margarine. No fresh fruit. No bread, toast or muffins. No yogurt. No hot cereal and only sugar coated dry cereals. The hot drink options were, however, very good. The room was adequate, however the space was run down with lights that didn’t work or flickered, an outlet that didn’t work and paint peeling in the bathroom. Also the bathroom door was damaged, mended with tape and didn’t close correctly or lock.

The staff was nice and informative, property was quiet and secure. Air conditioning worked well, beds were comfortable but the walls could use some cleaning and the outside could use some dusting of cobwebs and general dust. Breakfast was sad and consisted of a waffle maker, watery orange juice and weak coffee. I honestly wasn’t expecting much for Buttonwillow and the low price of the rooms but they could use some special attention or new coats of paint.

We arrived late however the person who greeted us was friendly. We did not get to use the pool but it looked refreshing and clean. Breakfast was available at 2am if you are departing early (cereal, waffles, juice and coffee) Considering that the hotel is right along the freeway it wasn’t too loud and the air condition worked well. Ample parking. No complaints. Good value definitely much more affordable than other surrounding towns. Gasoline prices are also lower in Buttonwillow than other towns off 5.

We made a reservation for a quick overnight stay. Bedding and towels were clean; however the floors had areas that were missed by housekeeping. The smoke detector in one of our rooms was disconnected and sitting on the window sill. We will not stay here again.

The room was in terrible condition. Dresser draws were damaged. Could not take shower or bath because completely deteriorated with no drain plug, cracks everywhere including the ceiling falling in. Only one chair to sit in and it was an office chairs with wheels that would not turn. Furniture lamination coming off. Bed was lumpy and made loud sounds as one got in and out. The room needs to be renovated.
