Carlsbad Inn Beach Resort

Spent one night while visiting family. Relaxed in the pool and hot tub. Easy access to beach down some steps. Able to borrow beach toys and chairs from the hotel kiosk at the bottom of the stairs. Great visit.

Centrally located. Pool area is a bit small with too few lounge chairs.

Carlsbad Inn is great. We noticed this time around a lot of focus on time share folks. Cleanliness seemed a little lax from last time. Example: same empty plastic water cup on a table that we passed a few times. Pretty strict on bike rentals (you need a drivers license) so teenage sons didn’t love that. Towels were also not convenient to get. Rooms did not get housekeeping everyday. We love this place though… great pool, open area, walk to beach and cool spots for food, farmers market, coffee, etc.

Just checked out today and we can’t say enough about this resort. It was so clean, lots of space in the condo unit for our family of 4, and the pool/hot tub area are amazing. The staff is kind and helpful, there are so many restaurants and shops within walking distance that you never run out of things to do or sight see. There is a weekly schedule of activities that changes daily. Covered parking was a bonus too. The drive to Disney and the San Diego Zoo were reasonable. We are so happy we booked here and will absolutely be back. Thanks for a great stay!

Great Location 1 block from the beach. Patio/courtyard is nice to hang out. pool is a bit small for the size of the resort. lots of kids so you need to be prepared for what comes with that. nice restaurants nearby and great to have free parking at a resort for once. 7 out of 10. Nice amenities for family vacations.

Adult jacuzzi was wonderful with excellent views. We used the complimentary beach chairs. The large grass area with lounge chairs was very comfortable but needs more shade.

Great location near Carlsbad Village and the beach. Friendly, helpful staff. Clean, well-appointed room. Nice amenities—fitness center, bikes, beach equipment. Attractive landscaping and outdoor seating in central courtyard by pool, hot tub, fire pits, and entertainment area. We would like to stay here again when visiting Carlsbad.

The photos of the property are not accurate. I was disappointed with the quality and cleanliness of the room. The whole property needed maintenance, and the same for the room specifically. From paint chipping off the walls and every piece of furniture to the mold in every corner of the bathroom. I was not happy for the price. For the price, I expected higher standards of cleanliness. Everything just looked run down and in need of repairs. I only stayed 2 nights so I powered through, but I wouldn’t stay again.

This place is awesome! The room was spacious and super clean and the service was wonderful! Our view was over the center on the 3rd floor, overlooking the fire pit area, but you could see both the pool and Jacuzzi area. Was a little noisy when the family and kids were out playing, but when the door was closed was insulated well. (which is a drawback, cus you want to have the fresh air coming in). Overall, we would definitely stay here again! So close to everything!

This place needs a major renovation, and a deep cleaning in the meantime. As an example, the doors to the bathroom were dirty, the walls had dirt spots, the baseboards and corners of the floors looked like they hand't been cleaned in over a year. The toilet seat was broken, etc. I have no idea why this place gets good reviews, and no idea how they get away with charging so much. Avoid!

Great location and accessible to beach and local shops/restaurants. WiFi did not work in our room (150), brought it to the attention of staff but was not fixed during our stay. The condition of the bathroom was not great—red stains on white tile floor, rust on door hinges and vent fan did not work.

Pillows smelt like dirty hair. 1 bath towel smelled dirty as well with stains on it.

Let me first say, if you want a great location this is hard to beat. The ocean is on the back door step, parking was easy and across the street from some great food options. The pool was warm and the leisure area was great but that’s where it stops. The room itself was disgusting. The floor was soaking wet and sticky, the bathroom was falling apart. Cracked tile, smelled terrible, the shower/tub was chipped and caulking and door jams were rotting. The toilet seat had gashes in it and you could hear everything from the cars on the street driving by to the people walking around upstairs with every step. Yes, I mentioned these things to the person up front. It was just too late to really do anything about it. I informed the desk about the condition of the bathroom and wet floor so they would know, in case there hadn’t been a report, but I was peppered with texts and my final one was trying to get me to inquire about owning a time share at this property. Really? I’m not sure I would stay again because the view and location just wasn’t worth the rest of the experience. If it weren’t for the location this would be a 2/10 star review.

It was very noisy, and there was no internet in the rooms, only in the lobby. That was very inconvenient.

The location was great! So close to the beach and lots of restaurants. Proximity to the beach was 5 stars. The staff was friendly and willing to help with restaurant recommendations. The common areas of the hotel were wonderful. The fire pits and lounge areas outside were great. Parking was free.The room was fine. It obviously hadn't been updated in some time. The shower area seemed very old and showed lots of wear. Our room location did not help the rating. We were adjacent to an entrance on the first floor that also housed vending and ice machine. Every time the doors closed, it was quite loud. I would definitely try to avoid room 157.

Spacious rooms and beautiful outdoor area. Walking distance to restaurants and shops

This is our second time staying at Carlsbad Inn at one of the King Suites and we love this property because it is very family-friendly with a fully stocked kitchenette and clean, accessible pools/firepits/BBQs. You are in the middle of Carlsbad Village and can walk to a large number of restaurants, stores, and bars, as well as having walkable access to the beach. Parking is by permit only so it is very easy. I took off one star because both times that we stayed here we’ve had trouble with noise. The property does have a strict 9pm quiet policy, but you will hear people talking in the hallway or heavy-footed neighbors if you’re unlucky. We had a room of young guests (teenagers) without their parents (we heard them say to someone that their parents stayed in a different room) above us during the second half of our stay and they jumped/stomped around so much that our ceiling fan shook like there was an earthquake. Before they checked in, it was great though! And to be fair, we do sleep earlier than most (9:30) because we have a small kiddo. The minus one star was also because there was a dark short hair on the toilet seat when we first got to the room. The microwave also had some food residue on the glass plate, so their cleaning could use some attention, but nothing that will prevent us from book here again at our next trip.

Great location, clean room, well-appointed and stocked room. But the room (ground floor) was very noisy from foot traffic and noises from the room above. The sound insulation was sub-par.

We came down for business meetings nearby. Never stayed here before. Very clean, plenty of restaurants walking distance. And the beach is 100 yards away. One caveat; the Wi-Fi in the room did not work at all. Might be because our room was on the end and far from the units. That was only the drawback of Stan otherwise excellent all around.

The front desk person and customer service were not very welcoming. They told us they would text when our room was ready and so we left the resort and waited. They never contacted us. We went back to the hotel and found out our room had been ready for a while. Several times myself and other guests went to the front desk and there was nobody there. We had a weeklong reservation and found when we called for coffee for the coffee pot in our room ( 2 packets were provided) that you had to pay extra for coffee. I would hope when you’re staying and paying resort fees for a week you could at least have complimentary coffee in your room. That’s how other resorts/hotels are that we spend time at. I understand it’s a small thing, but when I contacted customer service they had no desire to accommodate or work with us. So it wasn’t about the coffee at this point. It was the principle of the thing, and the fact that they were rude and not accommodating. We were actually looking into a timeshare at this resort as we spend time in that area, we have now chosen to move on to a different one because if you can’t get decent customer service for small things like coffee, what are the big things going be like? They need a happier reception staff and customer service revamp to bring this resort back to what it used to be.

I paid in full two months prior to my stay for a one bedroom condo unit. I picked this property due to it being walking distance to the beach & all the restaurants and shops in Carlsbad village; the unit I paid for had a king bed with separate sleeping space in the living room for our two kids, a kitchen, and a balcony. Imagine my surprise when I received a phone call from the resort's home office management *the day of our paid reservation check in* telling me we were being relocated to a property that's a ten minute drive away from the beach & Carlsbad village. No apology, reason, or offer of refund was given for the relocation. When I called the resort property itself, I was told they have no control over this when it happens & that it was because management had overbooked their condos. The local resort staff was very apologetic at least. The only option I had to stay on the property that I researched months ahead of time was to stay in a double queen standard hotel room instead. All the room features that I paid to have were non-existent: no king bed, no kitchen, no balcony, no separate sleeping space for my kids. I will be speaking with the home office re: refund options, and again this is not the fault of the local staff. I have never had this happen before with any type of hotel reservation & feel like Expedia needs to know that this is how this management company does business.

As a VIP Expedia member, I expect a certain level of respect and good service. I was traveling alone with my child and we were approached several times in a demeaning manner by a hefty, threatening looking security guard regarding our legitimacy as guests (even when we were wearing or carrying their mandatory ink-leaking-paper thin-Disneyland bracelets). I also observed that NO ONE at the pool or in the lobby or elsewhere was wearing bracelets and we seemed to be targeted by security personnel which made me feel very uncomfortable since he kept asking for our room number. The manager on staff seemed very inexperienced and on the contrary, escalated the situation by indicating that security had a right to patrol the guests. She said she would inform his boss, but the next day, he came back and harassed us again. She also said she would credit me for the resort fee (there was NO internet or working television the whole week we were there) but she did not. I had to get my credit the next day when we checked out. And finally, I don\'t know what the pool guys do to chemicalize the pool, but two bathing suits (swim shirt, and bathing suit) were destroyed by it. Overall, the management and security really cheapened my impression of this 2.5 star "resort". It did not feel like a resort experience at all.

Hotel cancelled our stay the day of our trip. They overbooked. Ruined the entire weekend I booked 2 months in advance.

Got to the hotel and they didn’t have my information in the system. The guy said it would take a few minutes and that turned into hours. I then was checking in with everyone else and there goes the day.

We love staying here as the property is well maintained and in a beautiful spot. The customer service was horrible. We booked this trip months in advance, made several calls to let them know this was a trip for our 92 yr old mother. We were well aware that they could not promise a certain room but when we arrived we asked for a room with an ocean view. They were very rude and said we dont promise rooms and proceded to get us a room that faced a busy street. The room next door had kids that screamed and yelled the entire stay and we asked to be moved and they said no. Horrible customer service as they told us as we left that a lot of people have special occassions and stay there but they cant accomadate everyone. Not once did they apologize or even "act" like they cared. We will never be back and this was a place we stayed at yearly for the past 6-7 years

The location is convenient. We were finally given our keys at 4:20pm and arrived to find the cleaning staff still in there. I asked to put our perishables into the fridge and they were not done until 5pm. We waited outside the room with luggage for 40 minutes. The resort was replacing tvs so elevators were not available and we had made two trips to carry our luggage up three flights of stairs. Even though we weren't in our room from 10 to almost 5pm everyday, housekeeping never serviced our room. It is not an inexpensive place to stay so I expected better.

The property is nice and close to beach. Did not like how they continually ask to see your wrist band when you are on the property lounging or in pool area and fire place area.

Beautiful property! Situated just behind the oceanfront homes with a path to the beach. In walkable Carlsbad Village - really no need to leave the property but the rest of Carlsbad including Legoland is an easy drive. Lovely large outdoor area facing the beach with pool, hot tub, plenty of seating. Our room had a balcony with partial ocean view & we loved the farmers market on Wednesday. Will def stay here again.

First time visiting Carlsbad. Our stay surpassed our expectations- the service, amenities, and overall ”guest” experience was great. A beautiful family-friendly community in Carlsbad Village. Staff were courteous, parking was great, and check-in/out was fast and easy. The food at Norte Mexican restaurant was tasty and loved that it’s located inside the hotel. The local shops and restaurants that are around just minutes away walking distance were a plus. Loved walking to the beach and seeing it’s natural beauty. Would love to come back one day.

The location was perfect across the street from the beach. Ple ty of areas to hang out. Within walking distance of many great shops and restuarants. The restuarants on the premises were both very good with great ambiance. We would definately cone back.

The property is starting to show its age, but I believe a refresh is in the works. No bar onsite. We had to go to the restaurant next door. A little odd in a bathing suit.

Carlsbad Beach resort is AMAZING!!! The grounds outside are so inviting for families, with pool access, hot tub, open grounds for play and a short walk down stairs to the beach! The bed and room was very comfortable. Had a king hotel room for this visit. Coffee was great each morning. Norte next door was delicious! Would definitely say to find a different breakfast spot besides the small cafe on property, Daily News. Biscuits and gravy were horrible!!! This hotel is walking distance to so much you never have to move your car! Can’t wait to return!!!

Natasha at the front desk was excellent. The room was spacious and clean. Jacuzzi is big and comfortable.Location you can't beat ocean, restaurants are all within walking distance. If they had complimentary breakfast it would be awesome.

Great hotel, steps from the beach. Also close to so many food options, especially healthy ones. Just wish the room was more updated but oh well
