The property has an excellent whiskey bar in the basement with a pool table and games. You can order bar food also. Great place. There is a washer, dryer, pool and table and chairs situated around the property that are cleaned daily. Across the street from the Village. We felt very safe during our stay. Staff very friendly and knowledgeable. Internet access no problems. BTW the burger restaurant one door down from the hotel is the best. I have one major complaint. The bed was the worst. It was hard as a rock. Very uncomfortable. Woke up all through the night. Maybe it was just the bed in Room 402. A new hotel is being built across the parking lot and it is noisy during the day but since we weren't there during the day it didn't bother us. Construction starts around 8am and stops around 3:30pm. Quiet a night. I would stay there again. The price was right. Maybe they will replace the beds by the fall.

Updated large room with a comfortable king bed and large bathroom. Because of the altitude there’s no a/c, just a vertical fan. Limited food options in hotel but a nice sunken bar and game area. There are several food options nearby that are easily walkable.

Property was acceptable. Staff was appropriately polite but not overly so- no better than average. Room was clean, but could use a vacuum. Outdoor spa had hot water but there was an “Out of Order” label on the timer for the jets. Other guests didn’t mind being noisy, but maybe that’s a Mammoth in the Summer thing. This property is across the street from The Village, which has a small general store, lots of dining options, some shops and a few bus stops. More dining, liquor and shop options are with easy walking distance.

I had the perfect day at this establishment. The staff is super friendly and the rooms are very comfortable! They have a nice hot tub and pool. The rooms have a fridge and a coffee maker. The microwave is shared in the lowest floor.

A quaint old-time village atmosphere close to the Village Gondola and a few shops and restaurants. Plenty of parking with attached bar. Only downsides were a very small jacuzzi/hot tub and lack of full service restaurant (thre Cellar bar serves food, and the former restaurant, now closed, was WAY overpriced, so...).

Staff at the Alpenhof are always terrific. Enjoyed the jacuzzi and sauna after a day on the mountain. We had a minor issue with the bathroom door, not a huge deal. Will definitely stay again!

Oh my gosh! It was such a quaint stay and the front desk was so pleasant and nice! They really make you feel at home! The gondola is right across the street and downstairs of the hotel they have laundry machines, a sauna and hot tub, and the bar/restaurant can be accessed that way as well as from the outside entrance. We really enjoyed our stay so much! Definitely 10/10 recommended!

Simply, for a skier, it's location, location, location: Easiest access to the slopes at Mammoth. Just park the car, and everything is within walking distance. And there's a great hot tub for after all the skiing!

Enjoyed staying here one night in July. Seems a little old but well kept and clean. Nice separate sitting area. Sink, mini fridge, micro. The town is a zoo, but the motel was a quiet, comfortable stay.

The property was very close to Mammoth Village, so it felt like we were within walking distance to almost everything. The property itself was also very clean, and the front desk employees were very attentive. Our only complaint was that our first room was not clean upon arrival (the toilet was used/dirty, the shower was also used with toiletries opened and out, the bed sheets were used/dirty, and the floor was dirty). However, they quickly moved us to a new room, which exceeded our expectations! Will be staying here again!

I stayed for five days. The room was comfortable and clean. The staff was very friendly. Plenty of parking for my Jeep and kayak trailer. The best thing about this hotel is its location. Very walkable to attractions. I would highly recommend the Alpenhof

We enjoyed the character of this hotel, which stands out in a town full of sludge green modern buildings. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Mammoth is very expensive in general so this is a good budget option. Rooms are small but plenty of hooks to hang coats, good shower. Quiet, small fridge was a bonus. The Clocktower Cellar Bar was fantastic, popular with the locals, great range of beer, and fab pub food.

The bathroom is too cramped to where you end up banging your elbows against walls and door frames all the time. The walls are so thin and lack sound insulation that you hear conversations in the next room clearly, and the creaking of the ceiling from people on the upper floor is a constant annoyance. The shower has a weak water flow and gets scalding hot and freezing cold while you are using it. The TV quality is really low. It discourages you from watching any movies or shows. I just used it for news. It is not worth the rate they charge.

The location and room were nice but the walls are paper thin. People next door just talking felt like they were in the same room. They woke me up several times. For 300-400 a night during ski season, with a minimum 4 nights stay, it’s an extreme rip off! They take advantage of the great location by the village and over charge for a pathetically built building.

Most of the basics are met though this is a dated facility. It’s rough around the edges but provides a night’s rest in a clean environment. WiFi was substandard. Slow one night and constantly cutting out the second. Nowhere to plug in devices close to the bed so instead of laying in bed, catching up on things after long days of hiking, picture me soon the floor, back against the wall. And finally, the mattress was one of those that sags on the edges where years if people sitting on the edge has taken a toll. One person can sleep fine in the middle. Two might not be so happy. I wasn’t overly unhappy given that to get better facilities in Mammoth is going to cost far more.

This lodge is decent. It’s clean. They don’t have AC, luckily it didn’t get too hot. The manager was very nice and let us check in early. Staff is courteous. The best thing about this lodge is the location. It’s conveniently within walking distance from the village where all the shops and restaurants are. Make sure you are not in room 100. It was noisy and smell of food from the restaurant bellow wan unpleasant.

Staff at the Alpenhof are always terrific. Enjoyed the jacuzzi and sauna after a day on the mountain. We had a minor issue with the bathroom door, not a huge deal. Will definitely stay again!

Stay was ok. The dude that checked us in was by far the rudest clerk i have ever encountered. The property is quite old, and the walls are very thin, so be prepared to wake up early with everyone around you. The property is old, but clean. The best part about it is proximity to the village.

This lodge is beautiful and well kept. Our room was cozy, it had all the amenities and it was clean. Great warm shower that looked new, nice towels and toiletries, a refrigerator and a safe. Unfortunately the front desk personnel need to improve their manners. They were rude and asking them a question like (is the restaurant open for breakfast?) meant a condescending answer showing how much they didn’t like dealing with people. I also had the feeling they didn’t like the fact that we booked with Expedia as the checkout person, in a very condescending way and out of the blue said, if you have complaints or need a receipt go to Expedia, we can’t help you, I was just turning in my key. I hope they were just on a bad day because it was really disappointing.

The front desk team was amazing!!! I had to stay one night at a different hotel who would not allow me store my luggage prior to checkin and Alphenhoff stored it for me even the night I didn’t stay there and then brought my ski bag to my room for me when I checked in there. The staff is incredible (and the location is excellent).

A quaint old-time village atmosphere close to the Village Gondola and a few shops and restaurants. Plenty of parking with attached bar. Only downsides were a very small jacuzzi/hot tub and lack of full service restaurant (thre Cellar bar serves food, and the former restaurant, now closed, was WAY overpriced, so...).

We had a great two night stay! The lodge is definitely dated and old-school but you can't beat the location and price!! You can get your ski boots on in the room and walk to gondola! We had a room on the 1st floor and it was noisy from the restaurant below but luckily not too late. Would stay there again for the perfect location alone!

Simply, for a skier, it's location, location, location: Easiest access to the slopes at Mammoth. Just park the car, and everything is within walking distance. And there's a great hot tub for after all the skiing!

The property has an excellent whiskey bar in the basement with a pool table and games. You can order bar food also. Great place. There is a washer, dryer, pool and table and chairs situated around the property that are cleaned daily. Across the street from the Village. We felt very safe during our stay. Staff very friendly and knowledgeable. Internet access no problems. BTW the burger restaurant one door down from the hotel is the best. I have one major complaint. The bed was the worst. It was hard as a rock. Very uncomfortable. Woke up all through the night. Maybe it was just the bed in Room 402. A new hotel is being built across the parking lot and it is noisy during the day but since we weren't there during the day it didn't bother us. Construction starts around 8am and stops around 3:30pm. Quiet a night. I would stay there again. The price was right. Maybe they will replace the beds by the fall.

We enjoyed the character of this hotel, which stands out in a town full of sludge green modern buildings. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Mammoth is very expensive in general so this is a good budget option. Rooms are small but plenty of hooks to hang coats, good shower. Quiet, small fridge was a bonus. The Clocktower Cellar Bar was fantastic, popular with the locals, great range of beer, and fab pub food.

Unfortunately this property has gone downhill as the years have passed. They used to provide an above-average breakfast, but now none is offered at all, "a casualty of Covid" as we were told, which seems an outdated excuse at this point. The room we were in had paper-thin walls where we could hear the music, TV and voices of our neighbors very clearly. The room was also old and dingy, though they had updated the bed's headboard but nothing else. The Alpenhof used to be a gem amidst dreary hotel options in Mammoth, but now it's just like the rest of them, only with a better location.

It’s an old cozy place to spend a few nights and the location is great! There are a number of eateries including Petra’s and it’s a walk to the Gondola that takes you to Canyon Lodge and access to the snow!

The check-in and check-out process was extremely smooth, and the front desk staff were very nice and helpful (even though it was 1 or 2am when we arrived!). It had a very cute themed aesthetic but also had many modern upgrades like a very large TV, brand new furniture, and an extremely large 'mini' fridge. There were plenty of plugins and USB ports to charge all of our electronics. Many places to hang up wet clothes if you swam that day or went skiing in the snow. It seems they really paid attention to the little details and conveniences! The sheets, bathroom, and room in general were very clean. The only con is that there is no air conditioning, which now that I look back was made clear in the description, so that is not their fault. We went in peak summer so it was a little warm, but not unbearable, a nice rotating floor fan was provided in the room. Plenty of parking. The bar was very popular the night we tried to go, so we opted out...but that's not a bad thing. Overall a very great and affordable experience, 10/10 will book here again next time we visit Mammoth!!

The staff was nice, the room was clean but very warm. The room was in back on the first floor which has an enclosed hallway that did not have airflow at all. They have a fan in the room but it just moved warm stale air around. I checked out of the hotel after a few hours and slept in my truck due to the heat. I'm sure this hotel would be nice in the winter but it's definitely not worth the 200 a night during the summer months. The owners might think about putting some type of air circulation system in the enclosed hallway to keep guests a bit more comfortable during the summer.
