SurfSide Stay Morro Bay

The parking lot was hard to get out of. The hot water took a long time to get warm.

My family stayed here for an event we had . First of all, the description is deceiving and inaccurate. It said 3 queen beds for this suite . When we arrived, there was two queen beds and one couch that pulled into a bed . They make you think you are getting a normal bed when it’s a dirty drained spring pull out couch . Then , when we went to ask front desk for more sheets and blankets for that pull out , they refused st first. The woman in the front said they don’t give extra blankets and sheets and the beds already have them. The pull out couch had dirty stained sheets and they were extremely thin. I literally had to argue with her to get her to give me ONE extra sheet . How ridiculous is that!? Terrible service and they front desk was extremely rude and unprofessional. The parking was terrible , everything about this stay was bad . The room and bathroom were dirty, the bathroom door wouldn’t shut properly as it was broken, one of those old clunky doors and doorknobs that you and to slam closed to try to get it to shut . Just terrible overall . Will not be returning and not recommend. Oh, one last thing , NO AIR conditioning. No ac , just one fan . We all slept extremely uncomfortably and HOT!

For the price it was ok, the room and parking were way too small. The bed was hard and made noise when moved. Farther away from the beach than thought. But for the price it was fine.

Our go to place for trips to Morro Bay. Location is great and the hotel is nice and quiet. It is dog friendly which we love as well. Also like the fact that we canbl park in front of our room which is very convenient. Also close to some good places to eat.

I always appreciate a single story motel because it means I don't have to lug my bags up a flight of stairs. Check-in was prompt and parking was convenient and close to my room (a little tight though). The bed was okay, but the pillows seemed like they were due to be replaced. I liked that the bathroom had dispensers for the soap and shampoo, but the water pressure was on the low side. Consider putting a digital alarm clock in the room so people can see what time it is when they wake up in the middle of the night. It was quiet for the most part, except for the people in the room next to me, but I don't think I can pin that on the motel. I travel mostly to do nature photography and am usually looking for no frills places to sleep and recharge all my equipment -the room had lots of outlets and USB ports, which is a plus. I would stay here again.

Nice and cozy place to sleep, most of the day was spent at the beach and surrounding areas. Easy to park and the weather was fantastic. Room key didn't work at first but staff accompanied me back to the door to make sure the replacement worked.

People are nice but the floor was dirty, had a pair of white socks on for just a few minutes and the bottom of them were brown. and the bed was horrible; it is an old-style spring mattress. And would not say it is Pet Friendly, when you have to put up a $250 pet deposit.

Really large mini fridge in room which was nice for drinks & leftovers. Walking distance to Taco Temple and Spencer's Grocery market. Next to Spencer's market is a nice grassy area if you have pets who need to go potty. Only thing that wasn't great was that we had our three dogs and it cost an extra $25 per dog per night. I felt like that was a little steep seeing as how we were already paying the higher Saturday night rate. But none-the-less, dog friendly and close to the dog beach. We were able to get a couple extra pillows after asking.

Stay was good for the price we had a baseball tournament only thing is parking but other than that room was great !!

The hotel was very disappointing, one of the room tvs didnt work and the refrigerator had black mold. The bathroom was the cleaning area in the whole room, however it also had boxes full of sheets stacked in the bathroom. There were multiple cars with people outside smoking weed in the car and there was a random chair and refrigeraters outside of the side of the hotel and it seemed like people lived there. For paying almost $300 for one night in Morro Bay, we were extremely disappointed. We will never come here again.

Very Clean

Great location, great price .service was great .room was updated. Loved the wooden window. Slates. But After showering bottoms of my feet got black from walking around room barefoot.

The people at the front desk were amazing but then cleanliness was horrible. We couldn’t even walk barefoot in our room because the floor was so dirty putting the towel down after the shower and having the towel come out so dirty because of the floor was horrible for 250 a night Was not worth it at all

Room was filthy, I woke up with bites on me!! The fan in the room had 10 years of dust built up on it! Hair in the fridge, candy rapers on the floor behind the table, rust in the shower and bathroom, hair in the shower and on the door, flies flying around in our room! Smoke detectors covered with plastic! Non smoking but our room smelled like weed and cigarettes from people outside! Parking lot awful! Door was dented! Owner refuses to refund because I didn’t tell them in the first 10 mins after I checked in after midnight!! Calling health department and fire marshal of Moro bay!!

Room had a bad smell and the restroom was dirty

The room was very dirty. It hadn’t been swept . Found hair on the pillows and sheets. Room smelled bad. Won’t ever stay there again.

Everything was so clean ! They had shampoo and lotion n body wash I was like okaaaaayyyyyy I see yall! Very friendly receptionist over all great service , definitely will be back!!

The room was very clean and provided everything we could need. It felt very homey, and the staff was very kind.

People were laughing loudly outside until 1 AM. I only managed to catch a bit of sleep around 3 AM, and then a guy with a motorcycle spent forever revving and preparing to leave at 6 AM. We’re from LA, and after a 4-hour drive back home, we were completely exhausted. We hadn’t been able to rest properly for two nights and three days. There was no coffee maker in the room. When I asked the receptionist, she said someone might have taken it and handed me one from another room—it was covered in wet dust. Honestly, I wish I could give less than one star.

Great place to stay and great helpful staff. Our only issue was the air con was broken and it was too warm overnight

No air conditioning, ceiling fan turns itself off, shower tub is so slippery, had to hang on to the arm bar. Tight parking spaces

Close to the beach and food options at the pier, Staff was nice. Rooms need updates, Cleanliness rating #3 1/2. Bed was super hard. If you're a curvy person, the bathroom is not for you.

Pros: Good price, friendly staff, good location. Cons: Paper thin walls, next to highway, uncomfortable beds. Great place is your young or sleep isn't an issue.

This hotel did not have air conditioning in ANY ROOMS! I didn’t think that would be a concern when I booked. There was a ceiling fan that didn’t work. The person working there offered us a room north of this hotel, which had air conditioning. The Holland Inn and Suites should not be listed on Orbitz

Personnel was nice, location was ok, but no AC with a small old fan is not ok. Also the bathroom distribution was odd, a tall person wouldn’t fit between the toilet and wall right in front of it.

It’s needs a bit of upkeep and new beds for sure.

Only thing was no a/c in room 201. It was worth the money .. definitely will return

Our two beds are separated in two rooms. One of which is a suite. I like the convenience of the fridge and microwave provided. The rooms and bathroom are updated. I like the custom shower stall but the faucet is at full strength when I turn it to the hottest position. The water flow will drop when I turn it to the cold water direction. Some guests talked loudly before dusk but it’s not the hotel’s fault. It’s people’s lack of courtesy. I enjoyed the highly rated Mexican seafood restaurant next door. I also walked to the grocery store to buy some fresh fruit.

The room was very small. The bed would slide off the railing. The bed felt more like a air mattress. The shower stall was dark. But they accepted our dog. It was the biggest plus.

Put us initially in room very dirty and dusty.Paint peeling around bathroom sink. Hostess R. was very uncooperated and accusatory. We had a pet. We were in the room about about 45 minutes and she wanted to know if our dog damage the room.oh my Explained to her how dirty and paint peeling on bathroom walls. Asked to be moved and to cancel our 2nd day.Moved us to 2nd room the heater pilot had to be lit by Andy the Host Exposed wiring from heat to thermostat to make it work.@nd day he lit the pilot.R was very accusatory.2nd room was very dusty and shutter was vey badly damage fixed with heavy card board. lodging very inexpensive.I think they put us in the worse room. other people had pet dogs.One guy worked on his Mercedes Benz 1 day full brake job during the day. I believe it was a cultural issue.i retired law enforcement after 30 years.Also handicap

Came into town late and was on a tight budget. It was very economical for the area. The service was outstanding and staff was very friendly. I would definitely stay there again.

The nearby local restaurants like Mi Casa and Tacos El Viejon were a plus. The Avacado Shack a few blocks away also had a great selection of local fruit, honey, etc. If you stay on a Thursday make sure to visit the farmer’s market next door at Spencer’s.

Really pleased with the accommodation - better than the motel-style we were expecting. It’s a little way out from the centre of the town but pizza place market and petrol station nearby for essentials. Room well equipped with fridge, microwave, coffee maker etc.

easy access from hwy 1

My fave places to stay in Morro Bay were all booked out, so I booked this one. I wasn't expecting it to be super great, but ... hmm, some things bugged me. It's quite far from where you'd wanna be in Morro Bay, there were people talking loudly and smoking cigarettes right outside my door, there were full ashtrays sitting right on the doorstep, kinda gross if you're not a smoker. The parking lot didn't feel very safe. The room was OK, but as per normal with motels these days, only the bare minimum was provided, i e about 3 tissues left in the tissue box, one single paper cup, you know the drill. It was a place to lay my head and not much else.

Good price for an overnight stay. Located next to the freeway, earplugs solved the noise problem.
