Nice place. Pool and hot tub were great and the tiki bar off the pool had really good food and drinks

The rooms could use a little updating, microwaves should be in every room. Pool was beautiful and clean. Great hot tub. Overall enjoyed our stay.

I was traveling and needed a place to stay and exercise since I'd be on the road all day. I looked at many hotels in the area and chose this one because the gym looked decent. Most hotels don't have much exercise equipment. The gym was terrible. All the cardio equipment was broken. It was carpeted and smelled like it had never been vacuumed. The ice machine was in the room, so it generated heat and the smell of ozone. I understand that most people don't care about the gym, but that's why I chose this place. I could've gone to a Super 8. And that's all this place is. It's a dumpy motel. Don't let the tiki stuff fool you. I'm sure it's fun when it's packed, and people are partying at the pool, but there are better and cheaper places to stay in Palm Springs if you only want a room. My experience with the big attractions, the heated pool and hot tub, wasn’t much better. I walked to them to find a drunk guy mumbling to himself. He could barely walk. Was he over-served? Did anyone check on him? He laid there, feet dangling in the hot tub, saddling talking to himself. The manager was supposed to call me and never did. Oh and mattress felt like it was purchased in the mid century. I have a bad back and this place did everything it could to prevent from doing my physical therapy and getting a good nights sleep.

Best part……pool is open until 12 midnight

This hotel is cheap in many ways but it’s doubles down on the Tiki Theme in ways only seen at them parks. The attention to detail spent on making every rock, every pillar, every post have a tiki idol on it could have been spared for better mattresses or to replacing the shower handles. Pros: Great on site bar (The Reef) with heavy pours. Great pool and hot tub! Tiki theme on MAX, AC worked great! Cons: cheapest mattress ever, thin walls, had to get pool towels from the front desk, microwaves are rented from front office. Would I return? Yes. Would I also bring a mattress pad, my own microwave, and pool towels? Also yes. Bottom line: if your plan is to visit Palm Springs and indulge in enough tiki themed cocktails to render yourself unconscious each night, it’s perfect. If you’re expecting a luxury stay, it’s not for you.

The room was extremely hot when we arrived and took 1 day to cool down to a comfortable temperature. Bed comforter was old and torn. Carpet was old, worn and had stains. Shower tub did not drain properly and filled while showering. Ice machine was far away in the workout room. Pool was clean and open late which was nice.

Friendly hotel clerks, A/C was amazing, bed was comfy, lots of pillows, felt very safe, pool was perfect temp, not crowded, relaxing music, friendly people, cocktails from the bar/restaurant accessible from the pool, just overall a very nice place to stay. The property is older, so the rooms aren’t perfection, but it’s very well maintained and we will definitely stay here again in the future.

Always have a blast here and the amenities are great. Pool, bar and food and a great Mexican restaurant. One of our go to for Palm Springs trips.

I've stayed here many times & it's always positive. This past weekend, I had a one night stay. I hadn't seen the bathroom well after checking in, and found there was blood on the wall, the tub, by the bathroom trash can & the shower curtian. I also found a speck of blood on the lampshade in the room. I know I should have reported it immediately, but I didn't want to make a big deal as it was late & was just one night. I cleaned up the areas myself, except the curtain & lampshade because I was not gonna use it as is. There was no way you could miss the blood if you cleaned the room. Little drops, very visible and obvious. I just want staff to know that room 203 was not cleaned at all & this is very unsanitary. Please throw the shower curtain away and look into this.

We arrived around midnight due to travel time. The carpet smelled like mold. The bed sheets had blood stains. The shower knob did not work so I was not able to shower. Went to talk to front desk she was not help. She finally said I will just refund your stay and you can look for another hotel. We left in morning. She refunded room.

The staff was amazing and very helpful. The restaurants and pool were very good. The room needed significant maintenance and had black mold in the bathroom. Wifi was sketchy.

Super cute pool area/tiki bar. Very conveniently located and the most reasonably priced spot in the area. The room is a little outdated which is no big deal but it was filthy. Long strands of black hair in several spots and a breathe right nose strip on the carpet. Overall, for the price - it’s a great option & ya can’t be too picky!

The property was dirty and rundown. Stains were on the furniture.

The negative: my first room smelled like urine (was offered a new room) and the towels were stained; carpet was old and stained to the point I did not feel safe walking barefoot on it; plaster had clear signs of water damage and peeling in some areas; furniture was broken; A/C unit was iffy; television did not work in my second room. The room interiors are in desperate need of an update- the carpets have to go! Positive: the exterior grounds seemed well maintained; staff were helpful and pleasant; two dining options conveniently on site; parking; I felt safe despite only a single lock.

Just one night & fine stay. The room was very roomy, really nice to have the sitting area/TV room. Beds were very comfortable! Check in was quick & easy, nice people running office 😁the only thing was if walking around barefoot, which I do, the floor could be cleaner. Would stay again.

When my Wife and l arrived to the property check in was fine. We made ourselves to the pool which was nice. We returned to our room to shower. My Wife told me she had a slight strughle with the shower. She did manage to shower , she lndicated that it was hard to work before l got in. I did manage to get it to work and showered after all. The shower control was sticking in the closed postion which was a little bit of a struggle. I called to request an additional half to 1 hr stay due to over sleeping. I called at 11:23 a.m. , the desk clerk mentioned it would be an additional 40.00 . I declined to accept the offer and proceeded to leave on time. No sooner than l hung up the phone with the desk the cleaning lady showed up to ask if we were leaving at 12 pm. I said we were leaving by 12 pm. I found this odd considering this has never been the case in our 21 yrs of staying there. Call it strange of all times. I went to the front desk and returned the keys. I mentioned the shower control in the room to make someone aware of the problem. The clerk told me that l neededto send an email with pics. My reply was lm just lnforming you . Her reply was it was not her responseability ,after l mentioned that it was to just make somebody aware. She continued to carry on about it. I refused to continue the conversation and walked out. My Wife went in to explain what she experienced in the shower as well. The desk clerk decided to give my wife a hard time about it as well . My Wife

Bed was terrible need new beds folks!!

The room was clean but weathered. The tub didn't drain and there wasn't hot water. The bed was fairly comfortable for a hotel. Wouldn't stay there again.

Obvious wear and tear on property/furniture/etc. But compared to nearby properties, it was a great affordable option. Water running sometimes was quite loud, water didn't drain properly in the shower. Conveniently walkable to nearby bars/restaurants (we went to Seymours for drinks and the ACE hotel for a wedding and for the swim/beach club) 5 min walk to each. Good atmosphere with lots of kids/families around. Island vibes during the day. Tiki bar was as advertised, kitschy, fun and cool. Zombies are strong. Pool area seemed like a good spot to hang out but didn't have time. Overall, Palm Springs accommodations are expensive. This hotel is a little pricey but comparatively cheap compared to other properties in the area, so still a good deal.

At check in staff provided an extension for front desk if we had questions. Our room didn’t come with a phone. I would prefer if our restroom window had a screen. All sorts of bugs come in without a screen. Shower had spider webs. It took me a bit to understand how to turn on the shower knob. Hot water wasn’t consistent. All staff were professional and friendly. Bed and pillows were super comfortable.

Old rooms and a freezing cold pool. Mattresses are vintage. Been staying here for over a decade and might have to switch it up next time.

The atmosphere was really great with onsite restaurant and tiki bar. No extra locks on the interior side of the door was a bummer and the water temperature was inconsistant.

Rooms could use refreshing. Bed was creaky and I could feel the mattress coils…also noisy because if location to the main road. Not really walkable to downtown. Don’t think I’d stay here again.

Air conditioner wasn’t working they switched us rooms the next day.Mind you the temperature that day was 102 deg Second room smelled like cigarettes. I had asked if they could atleast accommodate me a late checkout for the bad a/c because of the the first night and female clerk at front desk refused and charged me anyway. Showers need upgrading, toilets flush slow, and the a/c units are extremely outdated. Also they have only 1 ice maker and it’s hidden in the gym area. Not a very good location in such a hot environment. Also there should be more. Will not be staying here again.

Hotel is outdated and the air conditioning wasn’t great. I understand that central air isn’t an option in a property this old. Overall, I enjoyed my stay.

The receptionist at check in was wonderful. She accommodated my last minute changes and was very helpful and professional.

Front desk staff was rude. Didn’t even say hello when we walked in the door.

Another great stay at Caliente Tropics, our hotel of choice when visiting Palm Springs. Friendly, welcoming staff, comfortable clean room and the topper for us every visit, the amazing staff at The Reef tiki bar. They always treat us well, great food and drinks. Special shout out to Richie, Cameron and Trasae (sp?) for the 5 star service. If I was going to give one area for improvement, it would be to install more umbrellas as the PS sun can be brutal. The small number of metal umbrellas at tables don’t cut it. The lounge chairs need them as well.

This place was absolutely awful, don’t be fooled by the fake high rating, the staff is unpleasant and is not helpful at all. When checking in it was never told to us that towels for the pool were in the lobby, or that they had to be checked out and brought back as if they were on lock down. The ice machine is in a dark gym room far from any other rooms. The pool is dirty and the old woman who works at the tiki bar made us throw out our ‘outside sources’ (drinks) even though others had beverages of their own. No one was accommodating, in fact they seemed almost happy to be unhelpful. The shower took a full 30 minutes before it gave out anything but freezing water. The phone doesn’t work, so plan to use your cellphone to get ahold of the front desk. The tv didn’t have any channels to watch, just a guide screen. When going to return our keys and towels the receptionist was telling the guest ahead of us that “the language we speak here is different”, not helpful and super disrespectful. It was SO bad, we made the best of it but honestly I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone. A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT!

The main reason for my rating is not something that happened to us personally but rather something I witnessed. I was in line behind two other guests who were checking in line ahead of me. It was 4:05 pm (check-in time is a rather late 4 pm as it is) and they were told that their rooms would not be ready until after 4:30 pm because the room didn't have pool towels. Both guests said that they didn't care about the pool towels; that they just wanted to check in. One told the staff person that he just needed to change clothes before he met friends for dinner. The staff person said: "I can cancel your reservation." She said this at least three times. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Two different guests denied their rooms due to housekeeping being late with pool towels. The attitude of the staff person was shocking - no apology; the only recourse offered being cancellation of their reservations. I thought that I was going to be told the same thing, but our room was ready. Nonetheless, the experience of the two guests before me sullied our stay as well; I would not stay there again do to the shockingly rude staff. I seriously have never witnessed a worse staff member. Having said that, the pool area is pleasant; the rooms are decent but in need of some repair (our bathroom had some peeling paint), parking was convenient and the location a short drive to town. With some maintenance and staff who actually cared about their guests, this could be a nice place.

We booked a room for March 13 to 16th as we have done every time we'd visit Palm Springs. We always enjoyed our stays here in the past but this time was a completely different experience. It first started with check in which took about 20 min because there was only one person checking in a huge line. No biggie, but wouldve been helpful for the poor woman working solo. I requested a room on the second floor but it was pretty packed so we were assigned a room on the first floor that was unfortunately right next to a room that was being renovated. So no chance to relax after check in with construction noise happening all afternoon. Cable wasnt working so we couldnt turn the volume up to help drown out that noise. The room was very worn down, dirty, holes in the walls and missing or broken outlet plates. Grout missing in the tile bath floor, broken/chipped laminate flooring that they tried to fix with glue. The worse part was the bed which bowed and sank toward the middle. I threw out my back after 1 night of sleep here that we decided to just leave. The manager Jose called me the next morning to ask where we had gone, i explained everything and how unhappy we were. He was apologetic and offered a refund for the two nights we werent staying. I told him i really appreciated that offer. He said we'd get a refund within 3 to 5 business days. Well its been over 6 weeks now and still no refund. I think thats pretty messed up to offer that and then rescind it. We will not be returning.

All I can say is the people at the REEF, are very rude, insulting and I cannot believe that you have people working there behaving the way they behave. There’s an older woman that works there that is very rude and I was sitting out by the pool and there was a woman in the pool and she told me she’s been there twice and that lady, is always very very rude to her and I went to the front desk and I talked to the desk clerk and wanted the manager‘s name because this is not the way to be treated. We’ve been going there for over 10 years and the Man at the front desk told me that they get numerous reports on her about her behavior so I don’t understand why she continues to insult people and be rude, yell at people and at this point, my husband and myself we don’t ever want to go back there and we’ve been going there, for over 10 years but because of the way we’re treated and the service we get …..We’re looking for another hotel. Also, just want to add that the gentleman at the front desk would not give me the owners name and my husband and myself have met the owner and he’s taken us to the other restaurant that’s there, but the gentleman at the front desk told me that he has never seen the owner, no info from him… There wasn’t any further. I could really go with this. 😩

Although this is an older hotel, and despite the many times we've stayed here before, we've never encountered any issues. If you’re fortunate enough to relax at the pool, I want to give a special shoutout to an employee named Richie, who provided outstanding customer service. Thank you, Richie, for your exceptional service.

All went well until this morning when I was putting my personal items in my car and the door to my room slammed shut. That would have not been a big deal normally, but there was no one on site to help me. There was a note on the lobby door that they would be unavailable from 7 a.m. until 9 a.m. It was not 9:30 and I had a 10 appointment. So, I climbed in the window because I had to get to my appointment. I'm 78 years old.

This hotel was fine for our purposes. We just needed a place to stay overnight. It was a nice place for a price we were willing to spend. We had a great dinner at Melvyn's nearby and a great breakfast at Elmer's nearby andthen went to the Indian Wells tennis tournament.

We had a great time at the Caliente! Super convenient. It has restaurants in the hotel and a ton more that are walking distance. The pool are is cute with a pretty view.

I don’t have a whole lot to say, we only stayed for one night and got in late afternoon early evening left to go to a dinner party came back to sleep and checked out. However, it was a nice place, a little dated, but clean. The pool area was kind of hopping though and looked pretty fun, we went to the bar and had some really good tiki drinks. I would probably stay there again if I just needed a place to stay, it’s not really around a whole lot so you would have to drive to the strip if you wanted to walk around and shop. Overall, I would recommend it if you need a place to stay.

We truly enjoyed our stay. The pool was perfect and relaxing (though the server was crabby). We had a king suite which was very spacious but the shower was a constant surprise. It would be hot then randomly cold and vise versa. It was very close and convenient to the main part of town with a lot of restaurants and shops near by.

This place sucks! For the price you would think they would let you bring your own food or drinks to the pool area. They are super rude when they tell you that you can’t have food or drinks in the pool area and I even heard them threatening someone with the police all because they had a bag of chips. The pool is connected to a restaurant which they try to force you to buy alcohol drink there that are close to $20 a drink! The room was ok other than the toilet leaking at the bottom and the shower floor seemed to be cracked. Pay a little extra and get a better hotel cause this place is garbage and for the price you should be able to get something better.

I love this hotel! Super cool tiki retro vibe. The pool is clean and large. Very quiet, no doors opening and closing. The food is great and drinks superb!

Great retro hotel and a MUST stay for tiki enthusiasts. The Reef bar attached to the hotel is fantastic and everything a tiki fan could want with kitschy decor/vibe and good drinks! Rooms were comfy and the AC was high powered. Highly recommend.
