Parking included at no extra cost, close to the university, reasonably priced, clean, quiet.

There is no elevator! Dont bring your elderly parents that use a walker there! Not ADA compliant at all. Very rude people running the hotel. Not a fan! Won’t be back.

Save your money and find another place to stay!!!! Hotel was not as pictured on the website. Rooms were recently remodeled but the rest was very beat up. Hallways had multiple patches of paint samples along with many ding and scratch marks. Room doors were very chipped and dinged up. Our room ac unit didn’t work. Manager entered our room without telling us and “fixed” it. Blew air but barely cold. We got more cold air from opening the window. Family in the room next door had ac that blew you out of the room. No elevator and multiple flights of stairs not noted on web sight. Free breakfast advertised but none available. Man and woman running the hotel were rude and uncooperative. Male manager was extremely rude whenever talked to and yelled at you when you questioned him. Handicap parking was only available if a handicap room was booked at a much higher rate than a regular room. Even when no one was using them. Have to carry everything you bring, no luggage assistance (cart etc) available. Pictures made it appear right next to the beach but actually in the middle of houses and businesses. Beach 2 blocks down the road. Parking is a very tight underground 39 space garage. Full flight of stairs to ground level and “Lobby”. Hallway with a desk behind plexiglass Very loud tv behind closed door so there is a bell to ring to get staff out of back room. Do not recommend

The location is great and the room was recently remodeled. It was very clean. The one major thing to know is that they only allow one car per room. I met my wife there and we drove separately. This was a problem!

First time booking this hotel, the Customer Service is horrible with an attitude, the room i got smell like it hasnt been clean for weeks. There were a spider in the bathroom. The room is not sound proof, heard a women scream and crying all night on the 2nd floor.

The first room we were put in was dirty. It had obviously not been cleaned prior to our arrival. We found a pin in the bed and dirt all over the bathroom floor. The surfaces were sticky. I told the front desk and they gave us a new room. This one was slightly cleaner, the beds at least looked like they had been made. The bottle of shampoo and lotion had been previously used and again all the surfaces were sticky. Nothing seemed to be clean. Honestly I feel like I should have been charged far less than I was for the stay here.

The room wasn't very clean. Everything felt sticky and there was a used condom under the mattress. Wouldn't go back

Pictures on website looks beautiful. Real life looks dirty, couple bugs flying around, and smells bad. Especially the bathroom. Even sprayed down with half a can of air freshener still smells after 10mins. Thin walls/ceilings, waking up around 1am to people/kids running around in the upstairs unit for an hour was nice. Owner/receptionist RUDE. Never staying again.

If you need a one night stay with no frills this is the place. It was fine for one night and located in a quiet area with restaurants, the zoo and beach nearby. Parking onsite was convenient however cramped. Check in was straightforward although the clerk wasn’t much for personality. The room was located off the first floor, next to the office and parking with parking lot lights on all night. Lots of loud noises at night, banging doors, stomping, etc. Someone tried to check in at midnight and was making a racket so I got first row seats for that. The window was unlocked when I peeked through the blinds. As a solo traveler those things make me uneasy. The tv was old and didn’t have streaming ability. The soap and shampoo was lacking. The coffee was gross. Overall impression.. meh. Will I stay again.. if the price was lower.

In my room there was a window that looked into parking with a car about 3’ outside window. It had shutters that stayed shut. It is about 4 or 5 blocks from the ocean so if there was a window doubt the view is anything special. Checking in was a difficult wait and was met with being yelled at by the way I was persistent with the bell. I didn’t think it worked. I rang just once… waited 3 minutes later pressed once waited… after 15 minutes pressed 3 times and different person came out and instead of answering my question he kept repeating credit card and license plate… after that no communication. Seems preference would be to have money sent in without guests. I was given a room for disabled and did enjoy the larger shower and bathroom. Would not go back.

The room 213 fridge was to noisy making sounds all night barely slept

Staff was friendly, parking was plentiful and room was clean and comfortable. We couldn’t get the WIFI to work-maybe a better router is needed or our room was too far away.

Pros** Close to the beach, public transportation, and the zoo. Cons** You have to let the hot water faucet run for 4-5 minutes to get hot water, not an energy saver. Parking slots are very tight; if the garage is full, your car will get dented by the next door. Poor WiFi connection. Communication with the managers/owners is not so easy. When you bring up a simple question or concerns, they will raise their voice and yell at you; this may not be personal, but cultural. In some cultures, raising one's voice and yelling is a sign of victory and being correct, but this is not a way to run a business.

Room was great: comfortable and spacious with lots off electrical outlets. It is right on Sloat Ave, a busy enough street so there was a lot of road noise. Was good for one night.

Rooms are clean and well maintained. Air conditioning is a bit loud for that unit. Walking distance to the beach and zoo.

There is barely any air flow in the hotel and all the rooms and halls smell weird. It’s cheap but as you walk up the stairs the chipped paint, scratches on the walls and hard to open doors make it apparent how badly it needs to be repainted and redone. We booked the same room we always do, but we were booked into a tiny room compared to what we have received before. I asked we be moved to a bigger room as we paid for deluxe, and they obliged which was nice. We were only given one key.

We enjoyed our stay at the Mirage. Located next to a delicious pizza place . Market with you my sandwiches and a cute coffee shop. Staff was nice. The parking is tight but convenient and free. Our room was great with a view of the ocean. The room had a fridge and cooktop but no dishes and the microwave did not work. Newly renovated and comfortable beds. Ac worked great I would definitely recommend the Mirage for a stay in the sunset . Definitely quite even though we were right in the road.

Rooms were nice but the property itself is small. Our room was right next to the custodian room and there was a lot of noise starting early in the morning. Someone also set off the fire alarm during our stay. I booked this room after doing some research in the area because I was going to a concert near by, I was told I had to check in before 10pm the day of my reservation, if I would’ve known this I wouldn’t have booked it and wasn’t able to cancel it to book somewhere else. I tried calling the hotel to see if there was anything they could do to accommodate a later check in and the guy who took my call was so rude about it. I understand policy and if there was nothing he could do but to immediately just be a snob was not okay. I wouldn’t book here again. Rooms are all down a small hallway and you can hear all the noise everyone makes like crying babies and staff loudly talking.

The people that run this establishment are simply mean people. It is truly sad as they could conduct an honorable business by treating their fellow human beings with respect and honor. Instead, they chose to be nasty at every single turn. When I checked-in, I killed the man with kindness as I just feel life is better if we are friendly to one another. He was decent. Certainly not "friendly" but not terribly rude. Yet. Then, I lost my room keys before I had even entered the room. (They fell out of my pocket at the restaurant next door and I found them an hour later.) When I went to replace my room keys, I was met with the wife. Well, holy cow was this woman as nasty as possible. And for what? Because I accidentally lost my keys? She was mean, rude, dismissive and just a plain ol' jerk. Again, I killed her with kindness. Then, when I found the room keys I returned them to her husband and he had his turn to be slightly rude but not a big deal. Then, on my final day of three days (a Sunday and not a 3-day weekend) I asked for a late check out. Their check out is at 11am and it was 10:30am when I asked. I had gone to breakfast and got back a bit later than I hoped. However, they flat out lied to me and told me the room was already booked and they refused to give me a late check out. I can not remember that ever happening. Finally, their parking garage is ridiculous. It is impossible to fit a car in there without damaging it and that is exactly what happened. I might sue.

The manager stayed late, past the 10 pm check in time, as my train was late. He said he wouldn’t leave an old lady out on the street. I really appreciated it.

Don’t stay here! I ended up sleeping in my car. I didn’t see it in the fine print that there would be no one to check me in after 10 PM. When I arrived, there was no answer, or even an automated message, explaining how I could get into my room. The next morning, I went to the room to shower and get ready, and that’s all I used it for. When I requested a refund, I was simply told that it was my fault for not checking in within their timeframe. Horrible experience with a hotel that clearly does not cater to business travelers, who often arrive later in the evening.

I called that my fight was running behind that I will be there at 4:00pm and when I arrived there was only 1 car parked in the underground parking and still proceeded to check in walk up the stairs to check in no one was at the front desk to check us in waited no one came had no choice but to book another hotel as Iam checking in to the other hotel I get notification that they are still trying to charge my credit card I had to call them to explain that I came no one was there and to stop attempting to charge my card so be aware with this hotel

The service and people that works there was extremely rude. I ask why the refrigerator does not work and they yell at me and told me to leave. Very bad customer service. The parking space are very small. The hotel smell real bad right when I walked in to lobby. I would not recommend to stay there. And, I never will booked a room there again. What a bad experience I ever had on a vacation.

I really don’t want to leave a negative review but the owners of this property seriously deserve it. Look at all the responses by the management of this property to all negative feedback. They do not care one bit. The owners are rude as hell. No hello, no thank you… Just a terrible condescending attitude and poor manners. To the owners: If you do not enjoy being in the hospitality industry then get out of it. And learn some manners and learn to adapt to the local culture otherwise don’t complain when people badmouth Indians. You are one of the many out there giving Indians a bad rap in foreign countries. You guys seriously need to learn some manners, because some day someone crazy enough will punch your faces with that bad attitude.

Very friendly staff! They made reserving, check in, and check out smooth and easy! Very close to the beach and zoo but not much else. The Mirage is about 20 minutes from the pier and the airport.

Location is good for zoo. The beach that is close you cannot swim. Not too bad for price. The George's zoo store next door has good sandwiches.

This is one of the only hotel options in the Sunset neighborhood. Things you should know about this neighborhood, it is VERY residential, you will not be close to any of the typical SF tourist attractions, other than the zoo across the street. Java Beach on the corner is good for light meals and coffee. I didn't try the pizza place next door. I stayed here because my son is a student at SFSU and this is the closest hotel to his apartment. About this hotel: It is an older building that appears to be family owned and operated. The room wasn't fancy and I had zero view from my one window, but the room was very clean and I could tell it had been recently updated. The only thing that bothered me, was there was a gap under the door and I could see light coming in from the hallway, so I had to block it with a towel. It was very quiet at night, I didn't hear any noise from hallway or other rooms. I read other reviews that were not good, so I was a bit worried, but prepared myself. I brought my own tissues and throw blanket for my comfort. I also requested no housekeeping service during my 3 night stay and but I was offered towels if I needed them. When I checked in a friendly and polite young man named Matt assisted me. The parking is free and underground, it was clean and well lit. They did put a $250 hold on my credit card when I checked in, but I feel like that is standard at many hotels nowadays. I would definitely stay here again.

The front desk guy is a little cranky, and they have rules about checking in before 10pm, which is not ideal, and the TV’s are weirdly small. That said, the room was clean, the bed was comfortable, the water pressure was good, and the location is sneaky-great. Java Beach next door is a great local coffee spot, and Pasquale’s Pizza is an SF institution. Staying outside of the tourist areas in SF is a great way to experience the City that the locals do. There are tons of under the radar places to eat in the Sunset on Taraval, Judah, Noriega, and Irving. West Portal is also an unsung hero for food and local vibes. Also, the beach is down the street…

Nice people! Good hotel. No restaurant but good neighbour George's Zoo where you can get good breakfast. Save area. Close to the ocean!
