The room was large and looked out on a lovely backyard. But, the room was a bit rough. There were lots of scuffs on the walls, fixtures/furniture were old/worn, and there was a strange, large open space that looked like it once held a couch. The hotel itself has some beautiful old common rooms/spaces. We came to town for a graduation and thought it would be fun to stay someplace more unique. We arrived at the hotel around 2:15 and were told that check-in was at 3pm, unless we wanted to pay a fee. So, we waited…as did other people who began showing up. Consequently, then, right at 3, there was a very long line of people that had to wait for one of the two clerks. The opposite of good customer service, in my opinion. The first room we were assigned smelled like cigarette smoke. So, then we had to take our luggage cart back downstairs and wait in the long line to be assigned an alternate room. No real apologies - and no dispensation. The location is convenient. But, stay in one of the newer hotels in town and go there to check out the cool rooms and stained glass.
