After reading some horrendous reviews I was prepared to hate this place. First impressions from the outside were pretty depressing. Once in the lobby there was a strong feeling of ennui behind the counter but as I chatted with the desk person the mood lightened and it was ok. Check in went smoothly. I was asked if I wanted first or second floor. And then the surprise bummer: parking is $15.00 and is underground. Desk assured me it was patrolled regularly but I’ll tell you the garage is a confusing maze of compact car only spots or reserved for frequent users so by the time I parked I was on the opposite end from where my room was (eventually) located. I think in the dark it might be intimidating for solo female travelers. It’s a sketchy looking garage. Listen, this isn’t a deluxe hotel. It’s not a destination city. Free parking, especially given guests have to park underground, find the elevator and walk walk walk to find their room, isn’t too much to ask. My room however was great. Comfortable bed, neat as a pin, soundproof and miracle of miracles, no airport-quality lighting in the parking lot. I want the room DARK when I turn out the lights and the normal outdoor lighting was pleasant. I’m not landing a plane here, I don’t need lighting too bright. It was very nice. I’d stay there again.

place was clean and bright, and cleaning staff was friendly. front desk staff however didn’t know answers to questions. breakfast every morning was convenient and a nice touch. beds are uncomfortable and sunken in. walls are paper thin. the room next door had a plumbing problem but kept taking showers and kept us up all night. the elevator was broken the morning we had to take our suitcases downstairs (so fun). also NO ONE informed us of a parking fee despite my specifically asking at check in.

Nice hotel, clean rooms, standard but good hotel breakfast. Pretty pool. Next door to a Chik-Fil-A is nice. Room had a lot of lighting and usb plugs. The only real downside was the bathroom. The sink faucet was loose and rotated with the handle making it hard to use. And more critically, the shower was unbelievable strong. It felt like my skin was being peeled off by a pressure washer. The air blowing from the shower head felt like a hurricane. Water was flying all around the bathroom. 10/10 for cleaning purposes, but terrifying also.

It's fine. Clean, Secure, fairly priced ... The $10 parking fee should be included in the price - I don't like surprises when I check in. (It's mentioned deep in the amenities section.) ... The area is kind of strip-mally, light industrial, but seemed safe enough ... Many places to eat nearby ... Close to BART ... I'd stay again.

You get what you pay for. The carpeting throughout is in need of a deep cleaning. We were very concerned that the access door from the parking lot was not locked. Our room key was not necessary to open the door. Another guest mentioned it doesn’t lock. The bathtub in our room was not clean. The front desk accommodated us without question with a new room. In summary, the staff is courteous and responsive but the cleanliness and security were sorely lacking.

Carpet had multiple stains that appeared both fresh and old. Multiple items on the floor indicating hadn’t been vacuumed. Hair on the bathroom floor and shower in bad shape. Usually have a good experience with Holiday Inn but this one had seen better days.

Hotel was okay. Clean enough. Bathroom had mold in shower on ceiling. They don’t clean rooms while you’re there. Breakfast options were decent enough. Location not the best. No restaurant or bar in hotel. Pool was kind of heated - still pretty cold.

WiFi did not work at all, which was the biggest issue and unfortunately staff was not able to do anything about it because they just haven’t gotten around to fixing / upgrading the WiFi setup. Other than that the staff was responsive and helpful outside of the WiFi internet problems

I had a noisy room close to the freeway. The blinds didn't close so security lights outside shone into the window at night. Wish they disclosed parking fee upon booking $15/day. I liked that it was close to walking trail, restaurants, BART, & freeway. Their breakfast is good.

The property is starting to show it's age. The Wi-Fi was awful and I had to use my phone for my Zoom meeting because the Wi-Fi kept booting me off. The only solution was to move me to a different room closer to the lobby or have my 3 hour meeting in the lobby where I'd be competing with the loud music and other guests. I had multiple difficulties with my key card in the elevator and accessing my room. I used the stairs A LOT!

This property was exactly what I needed for a quick overnight in Walnut Creek—much better than the budget hotels nearby and a nice alternative to driving back into the city after a long day. Check-in was smooth, and they even let me check in at 11:00 since rooms were available. The room was spacious, clean, and well-laid out. I especially appreciated the fridge and microwave area right inside the door, with counter space perfect for setting down your belongings. The bed was on the firmer side for me, but still comfortable. The bathroom was a good size and stocked with nice Dove amenities. Parking is convenient, though at an extra cost. The property is very close to the freeway, which makes it easy to get around—though you can hear passing cars in the distance, but wasn't loud. Overall, if you want a budget-friendly stay without compromising on quality, this is a solid choice.

So this hotel is fine -- rooms are decent size, bathrooms are tiny. You can hear everything in the hallway from the room (people coming back, etc). Location is convenient to downtown WC and freeway. I was dismayed to be charged for parking as that charge was not made clear on the details page when I booked and wasn't presented to us when we checked in. Felt like a hidden fee and am going to reach out to ask that it be refunded.

Manager as accommodating when I asked for a room away from the fast food driveway speaker next to our window. She graciously upgraded us. Hotel is close enough to the crowded downtown area but far enough as well. The large toiletries amenities are so much better than the small ones in other hotels. I would stay at a HIX again.

I usually don't do reviews but the unfriendly guy at the front made me do so. It was my worst experience out of all Holiday Inn Expresses. The room was not clean having hairs on towels when we entered the room. I asked for housekeeping both at the unfriendly counter and by a voice message at the housekeeping number but wasn't done the next day. Our family was out during the daytime and returned to our room in the evening. We were out of towels and it was really difficult to get help. The counter had only one towel when we needed four. You have to park at the basement garage but they won't explain friendly during check-in and put a annoying paper on your car window if you park on the first floor even for a very short while. A lot of plastic covers of buttons and lights in the elevator was damaged and the door locks had poor maintenance.

Very solid service throughout our stay. Nice clean room (however the fridge in the room was very noisy throughout the night). Convenient location. However, our initial check-in experience was terrible. Thom checked us in at 7:20 PM on Nov 29th. It took over 20 minutes to receive our room keys. He kept repeatedly questioning if my girlfriend and I were married and specifically mentioned there would be legality issues to stay here if we weren’t. We felt extremely uncomfortable. He also ignored us in the middle of checking us in to help another guest. The main reason I am not giving this hotel 5 stars is because of this awful unprofessional check-in experience.

We stayed just one night during our trip from Orange County to Walnut Creek for a basketball tournament at Saint Mary’s in Moraga, and everything was excellent. The front desk staff was very kind and welcoming, and the housekeeping team was just as friendly and helpful. Great service all around—I definitely recommend staying here!

Overall, this is a great location to stay. Easy to get around to services, shopping, dining and BART. There’s a nice pool and hot tub as well as a fitness center. My issue was being in the north wing which is adjacent to local businesses- one being an auto body repair place. The noise from this place woke me up around 5am each morning; once I’m awake, I’m up. This was an annoyance- I did think about asking for a different room and decided to stay put.

We asked to be placed in a quiet room--away from the elevators and ice machines. That we got. We were however in a room that was exposed to freeway noise, a lot of back-up beeping from neighboring vehicles, and plumbing noise. Also, there was ample parking, but it cost us $15 for our one-night stay. The breakfast was ample and good.

Staff- a male staff at the counter checked me in. He assigned me to a room right next to a room that has a big sign says "electrical room," and it's adjacent to the staff room. Both of these rooms can be noisy and a lot of foot traffic. The electrical room is hazardous and threatening. I was not happy at all. I went back to the receptionist to complain. They gave me another room. With this room, after I showered and washed my hair with shower curtain closed off, water flooded the floor all the way outside the bathroom. I demanded to switch room again. With this 3rd room, the refrigerator hummed throughout the night. I had to lower the refrigerator power to lower the motor humming sound but the temperature was not cold enough for my food. But it's too late to switch room again because it's midnight. Therefore, my stay was not pleasant! I am very upset with the male counter receptionist who assigned me a room right next to the electrical room!!!

Hotel was nice and clean. Staff was very friendly but did not offer a lot of information at check in (about wifi, breakfast etc.) but this was all information that you could look up on your own. Ample parking. Area felt generally safe. Breakfast buffet was good, pretty standard hotel breakfast but no complaints. Bed was not the most comfortable, but honestly that is often the case with hotel beds. Water pressure in the shower was lacking, but again this seems like a common hotel issue. Room was spacious. TV channels were a little wonky and difficult to manuever.
