The Normandy Hotel

No parking within a mile. It was not mentioned on the site there is no parking. It said there is construction, but if you need to park on the street, forget it. I had to park a mile away, after looking for a parking spot for an hour, and then take an uber to the place. This after a ling trip at 9 pm, was not fun.

This is a really neat hotel that offers modern amenities. The building is older and parts of it (like the elevator) give off creepy vibes lol but I liked it. The front desk staff was extremely friendly. I saw reviews complaining about the room size but it did not seem any smaller than most other hotel rooms. The hotel is very pet friendly, with no extra fee and even had treats for them in the lobby. We did not pay for Valet parking but had no issue finding parking on the street.

The hotel is actually very nice. I took some stars off because nowhere was it disclosed that there are renovations going on which have closed off the main entrance and the driveway. Not only do they not have valet parking, which is mentioned in the description, they literally have NO place to park your car to check in and they tell you to find street parking when you call. I ended up getting one of the closer garages because I have lots of stuff in my car, and it was an $8 Lyft or 22 minute walk. I am not mad that they are making the facility better, but I am put off by their nondiscloure if the situation and the attitude of some of the employees regarding the problems caused for customers. The room was great for the price, though.

The location was perfect for our needs (one night in DC for dinner with family). There was no parking on site. You had to bring the car down the hill to the Hilton lot. This was not what was on the website. The hotel is being renovated in the front, which was not a major concern, but there was no place to even park the car as you were loading/unloading. The room was nice. The bathroom spacious and the shower good. The bed was, as advertised, comfortable. The staff was very accommodating to the point of lending us an umbrella for our walk to breakfast. All in all, I would stay there again but be more prepared for the walk to park.

Out of the way and quiet, yet close to everything. Best if you're not driving as the garage cannot guarantee spots.

This gem of a hotel was a perfect landing spot for seeing friends and family in DC and for enjoying easy access to all the sites and good dining options. It was nice and quiet and the common spaces made you feel at home and gave you room to relax outside your hotel room.

The Normandy was fantastic - - booked on a Sat night in Jan 2023 for only $130. Incredible considering other options. Hotel is super clean and my room was very clean, neat, well-setup with very comfortable bed. The staff is also both friendly and helpful. On top of this all, they don't charge for pets - - you hardly ever see this. Only downside is lack of free parking in area BUT you can park for free in front of hotel from 8pm Fri night until 7am Mon morning, so it would be free for a weekend booking if you can find a spot.

Such a great find at a GREAT price. Very nice property. Very cool double doors overlooking the courtyard. Very comfortable bed. Very clean room. Awesome bathroom. We ABSOLUTELY will stay here again. The only thing I did not like was the lack of parking, so we paid $60 to valet park in their garage. I guess thats the big city, though. We loved our stay here.

Whole building extremely hot. AC doesn't work properly. Shower not excited, no pressure Of wather. A room smells bad.

Pictures are deceiving. Our first room had an awful smell and during the night we heard a rodent of some kind crawling in the ceiling. We changed rooms and that floor smelled awful as well. The elevator didn’t work and we were on the 6th floor. Outdated. Prime location but we will not stay here again. Only positive is the staff was amazing!!!

Everything was perfect but 2 things. 1. I found a live cockroach crawling around the bathroom like he owned it. 2. Bathroom had a very funk smell. Smell was constant even when I left the door open. Smelt right when I got there. Other than that An amazing hotel! The staff that i worked with were so nice and helpful!

I would not recommend. Poorly staffed, unable to provide adequate response to requests. Dead insects found in room.

This hotel is very clean and constantly maintained. Yo will get a nice service, and welcoming staff.

I love the hotel & the people who work there. This stay we experienced beautiful Christmas decorations in the lobby. The wine and cheese hour is very lovely . The bathrooms are lux, the only thing is …the lighting is sort of low level. Overall great , the courtyard is a lux bonus too. Gorgeous neighborhood & easy to walk to Dupont Circle.

Had a pleasant 3 night stay as a couple. The room was small but had the features I like that are sometimes missing in hotels: enough lighting and outlets; a great mattress and pillows. Lobby areas were very nice for sitting. Staff was helpful too. A 10 minute walk to the shops and restaurants near Dupont circle. Adam’s Morgan- 15 minute walk.

The blackout shades in the room did not work. When I went to bed and turned off the lamp, the lights from across the alleyway shined down around the shades and onto the upper half of the 2 beds. I was unable to shift the shades left or right to get rid of the light shining on the bed. In the end, I had to sleep on the right edge of the bed next to the window so that I could sleep. The room was also dusty. Staff apologized and said they'd never heard of that happening before.

The room I stayed in was a bit dated and dark. The entry light did not work and the blinds were not functioning. Also, the last time I stayed here, they put me in the same room. It wasn't a welcomed surprise.

Great bed, tv and bathroom. Very comfortable.

The A/C was not working well. My room didn't go below 77 degrees on very warm days in DC. I asked the staff to address the problem and they brought me a box fan instead of repairing the unit. It seems like the hotel needs to upgrade their HVAC system.

We had a great stay at The Normandy. Some low-rated reviews mentioned the age of the rooms, decor etc and wallpaper peeling etc and while that may be somewhat true, it certainly wasn't that bad and absolutely no worse than any other hotel of this age, available at Normandy's prices... so we felt it was quite comfortable and nice for the price vs other boutiques we have stayed in. 5-stars for the bedding & mattress, which is where you spend most of your hotel time. One thing that DID seem true was that the room was really warm (in February) and the thermostat didn't seem to do much to adjust the temperature. Since it was cold outside, we just cracked the window and it was fine (another reason to love hotels where you can still open the windows, by the way). Your mileage may vary based on the time of year you visit and how they've set the building HVAC. ALL the staff we encountered were wonderful. On our way out, a gentleman from housekeeping was making the rounds in the hallway. He cheerfully said hello and wished us a good day and we let him know we were checking out of our room. We had parked down the street out front and as I was loading the last bag, the young man from the front desk ran up holding my wife's hairbrush, which we had left in the room. The return of that $2 brush took the coordinated care and flat-out hustle of several staff members and proves that "guest service" is still alive and well, at least at the Normandy. We will happily stay again.

The issue I had about the Hotel is the the wifi service was terrible slow ass WiFi and it kept turning off ugh. Other then that the hotel was nice and clean

The AC was too loud and the room darkening curtains weren’t large enough to cover the windows.

If you have a room in the 6th floor there is a constant loud humming / machine noise throughout the floor. They gave someone else a key to our room and they walked in on us. Both our rooms A/c didn’t work. One wouldn’t switch off and one wouldn’t switch on. Valet is pretty much the only option and it’s expensive. The breakfast not worth $15

Check in was a problem. First given room that was not cleaned, then given key to a room and opened the door to find a guest very surprised coming out of their shower to have someone else opening their door. Experience after that was uneventful, but definitely not a good first impression.

I’ve stayed at this hotel many times. When I arrived last night, the receptionist completely ignored me and didn’t even acknowledge my presence. I waited about five minutes and finally ask her if I could check in. Only then, did she stop doing what she was doing and told me to “wait a minute“. I continued to wait until finally she rudely asked me for my drivers license and a credit card. She finally checked me in, gave me my key card and told me about the breakfast options. The rest of the stay was uneventful. The receptionist certainly needs some customer service skills.

When I first arrived it had been a long and taxing ride and I wasn't in the best mood. At first I was told there was no room for parking and I had some difficulty opening the door to my room. However, the evening manager quickly smoothed my ruffled feathers. She offered to move HER car to make room for mine, gave me a glass of wine, allowed me to chill out while she took care of everything. THAT'S customer service! This was my fourth stay and I will be back!

Large room. Staff were excellent and so helpful. We really enjoyed the smaller hotel size than many corporate hotels, and individual attention from staff during the stay was really good. The room was great and provided all we needed Darnell on evening reception was fabulous and very helpful

The customer service was excellent. They texted several times to ask what they could do to make the stay better. Initially the Air Conditioner seemed to not be working great. They assigned an engineer and fixed it almost instantly. And followed up via text several times to make sure that the AC was still working well. Kudos to the staff at Normandy Hotel.

The staff was friendly and competent. The available morning breakfast was convenient and the evening wine and crackers was a nice intimate touch.

We couldn’t have picked a better place. Aniça was so sweet and helpful to us. We had to come in very late/early morning and she made this so easy for us. She was very welcoming, and just so helpful throughout the trip. Breakfast was great and the room was amazing. The bed was beyond comfortable. Definitely making this my go to next time I’m in DC.

The hotel is in a great location, very quiet, great shower. It's easy walking distance to many good restaurants. The red line Metro is about 10 minutes away at DuPont Circle and there's a bus 4 minutes away to the Zoo. The Kalorama Market on California is a short walk and known for its cappuccino, daily sandwiches, and weekend pizzas. The afternoon wine and cheese reception is a nice touch, but paying $8 for a reusable water bottle was a bit much. The hotel difffuses some kind of spicy scent into the air system. In some common areas I found it overpowering and it made me cough. Shut off my AC, which helped. My room had a Juliet balcony but couldn't easily open the patio swing doors because the cornice was too low. Staff was always welcoming and helpful.

As first time visitors to DC, this was a perfect stay for us. The room and amenities were great and we felt very welcome. A short walk to metro stops made getting around easy and less hectic than we anticipated.

The staff was exceptional, the room and public areas very clean, the bed wonderfully comfortable! BEAUTIFUL area! Just slightly off the main hub. One of the highlights of our visit! Economical as well!!!

Nice hotel in a good location in Georgetown area. Comfortable and clean. It is an older building as would be expected in that area, but it is well maintained, and teh staff are very friendly and helpful.

A nice touch to offer free wine at 5:00, but we weren't able to indulge. In a way we would far rather pay for a glass of wine & have a more reasonably priced breakfast. It is really overpriced for the horrible quality of what's offered. For the same price, we walked out every morning & found delicious cafe breakfasts, but would have preferred to eat in the hotel!

I regularly stay at the Normandy and it's everything you need: great location just north of Dupont Circle, clean and quiet rooms, friendly staff, even a nice cozy breakfast / reading room on the ground floor with free wine & cheese every evening.

What a perfect boutique hotel experience. Tucked away in a quaint quet neighborhood, The Normandy Hotel offers the most amazing customer service, comfort and ammenities. A lovely breakfast and a wine and cheese hour in the evening. Upon checking out, they held my bags for the entire rest of the day till my flight time. Just a perfect little hotel.

Helpful, considerate staff and good room with king size bed. Very pleasant late afternoon complimentary wine and cheese after a day’s sightseeing! Breakfast satisfying but no hot dishes. Wifi not always what one might expect; frequent need to login. Rather strange room cleaning policy; no change of towels or bins emptied. $50 room deposit.

The location between downtown and Georgetown was quite convenient. Dining options were within walking distance. The price was reasonable for the location in DC. Onsite valet parking for a separate fee. The hotel lobby is stylish minimalist, and while the halls and rooms have a similar vibe they show some age. The bed was comfortable with bedside reading lights. The TV channels are mostly sports and one kids channel; no news channel. Toiletries are standard: soap, lotion, shampoo, conditioner. GTK: Housekeeping is by request only (in our case, this was unfortunately neither stated in the room nor conveyed at check-in). Coffee and tea are free during breakfast hours. Breakfast fare includes grocery-store breads, sliced ham, cheese, boiled eggs, flavored yogurts, cereals at fifteen $. There is a lobby HH wine and cheese from about 5-6 pm.

Reasonably priced and good area. A bit run down, they needed to reset the elevator 3 times over the 3 days we were there…that we know of. Breakfast, for $18pp was very basic and not worth that price but no other options nearby…

Great boutique hotel, very comfortable bed, spacious room and very quiet. The only negative is there is no bar, restaurant or store to buy water or food/snacks.
