Howard Johnson by Wyndham Vero Beach / Downtown

I was very disappointed with this property. Outdated, dirty bathroom, floor tiles filthy, no ports for phones, pool was full of leaves until we asked that it be cleaned, not to mention only a few lounge chairs. The shower curtain rod was hung wrong so the curtain just slipped to the center and water got everywhere… terrible water pressure. The sliding doors lock by a bar… which wasn’t in place when we arrived. I would never go to another Howard Johnson. Funny thing is I read reviews which seemed good… who is writing them?! The only redeeming thing about this property was the bed. It was decent.

Amazingly comfortable beds. Cleaner than my house. Wonderful AC. Ample parking. Multiple convenience eateries within a couple of minutes walking. Fair price. Will be here again when attending fair events.

The hotel was clean but pool was freezing cold. No ice bucket and not enough towels. That said, the staff was nice

This is a nice hotel. It's conveniently located, has a pool and is quiet.

Clean and adequate room. Quiet property. Pool area could use more seating. But overall a pleasant stay.

Absolutely Disgusting – Do NOT Stay Here! If I could give this place zero stars, I would. This is by far the most vile, disgusting motel I have ever had the misfortune of staying in. From the moment I walked in, I was hit with an unbearable stench—a mix of mildew, cigarette smoke, and something rotting. It was so bad I had to cover my nose just to check in. The room itself was absolutely revolting. The carpet was sticky and stained, the walls were covered in grime, and the sheets looked like they hadn’t been washed in weeks. I pulled back the covers and found hair and stains on the bed—beyond unacceptable. The furniture was old, scratched up, and covered in dust, and I wouldn’t even sit on the chair because it looked like it was crawling with bacteria. The bathroom was even worse. Mold and mildew covered the shower walls, the drain was clogged, and the water pressure was non-existent. The smell of sewage lingered in the air, making it impossible to breathe. The towels were thin, stained, and smelled just as bad as the rest of the room. The shower curtain had black mold growing on it, and the toilet barely flushed. I couldn’t even sleep because of the constant noise from outside and the uncomfortable, filthy bed. The walls are paper thin, so I heard everything from the next room, including what sounded like a domestic dispute and some extremely shady activity. This place is a health hazard and should be shut down immediately. Do yourself a favor—STAY FAR AWAY

The room had a very strong bleach smell when i turned the AC on it smelled like mold.

Good experience just a lot outdated. Shower was full hair and just dirty.

There were cockroaches in the bathroom (yes multiple). The carpet in the room turned the bottoms of our feet black within seconds of getting out of the shower. Multiple light fixtures didn’t work. Worst of all neither the hotel or Expedia would refund us anything despite the terrible experience.

The carpets were so disgusting. We couldn’t take our shoes off.

This is a very safe and clean hotel. I stay here regularly.

Fire alarms all night. Other customers counting, babies crying, pets freaking out for an hour and a half. After that, 3am - a couple fighting in the hallway. I only picked this place to get a good nights sleep as a midway point of a long long drive. Last thing I got was a good night sleep.

The room we stayed in the bed was very uncomfortable. It was like sleeping on a hard floor. The shower didn't drain properly. So youre standing in a flooded tub.

The room didn’t have any comfortable sitting chair. Just hard plastic chairs. Bed was comfortable, but nothing else. TV was very difficult to operate.

They had no internet all weekend and I needed to get work done

Expedia was the only problem in regards to this particular booking. The application changed the booking date and it took me one hour to get them to correct the problem and reschedule my booking with the manager at the front desk. Saved $7 and lost 2 hours of our time to include the time of the location manager who had to work with us and Expedia to Create a new reservation. Expedia is never worth the aggravation.

The desk person gave me a key and said the room could already have someone in it. The room was indeed occupied. Ugh.

Overall, the hotel was fine but I was very disappointed that the website stated free breakfast - free coffee, juice and granola bars should not be considered breakfast. We were also surprised that there was no housekeeping during our stay and we were told that has to be requested - before 9am! The women that worked the desk were very friendly, the men were not!

Showed up to the property late at night, (let staff know prior to the day of arrival it was a late flight) front desk gave me a key card, went to my room only to wake 4 people up at 230 am, who were sleeping in my room. They gave me a key to an occupied room. Gave me a second key to a new room and it was filthy. I originally booked for the entire week. We left and found a hotel for the remainder of our stay. I couldn’t be paid to stay here. Do not go by the Expedia reviews for this place it’s awful.

April was so rude. When I checked out and got to my car I noticed I didn’t have my car keys. I went back to the front office and asked April can I go back to the room and get my car keys. SHE LITERALLY SAID NO. I was very confused almost like she was joking but I knew she wasn’t because she has an attitude and uses her facial expressions to get under your skin. I asked a second time… APRIL SAID NO LEAVE. I Left sat on the trunk of vehicle for almost an hour until room service went in the room and I asked her to grab them. Besides the people around there being homeless sleeping by the dumpster and asking you to buy drugs and walking around ALL NIGHT I did find a roach ONLY ONE But still unacceptable. I’ve never been treated or experienced such an experience before. That lady is mentally ill and needs to learn customer service adequate.

Guys outside selling drugs all night and was trying to sell me and my husband drugs and they wasn't pet friendly will not stay there again

This is a nice Howard Johnsons on US 1, conveniently located to shopping and dining.

It is well located with in walking distance to stores. The hotel was quiet and felt safe at all times. The staff was very polite.

Not continental breakfast that was offered

Breakfast is only a granola bar, orange juice and coffee. There are some unsavory characters that may be hanging out around this hotel. The people in the room next to me were noisy, awake and talking loudly outside at midnight, 2am, 4am…etc. The mattress needs to be replaced, it’s horrible. It sags so much on the sides that you can’t even sit on it.

We had a nice stay. Room lacked a printed tv guide & had only plastic chairs to sit. Continentil breakfast was adequate. Location is convenient to restaurants and downtown.

Everything was great. But, YOU NEED A COFFEE MAKER IN THE ROOMS

No breakfast

A few things I was disappointed with. First - no coffee maker. Thank God Dunkin Donuts was right next door. I put the coffee in the refrig. In the morning, the coffee was froze solid. Thank God there was a microwave. Lastly, I was very disappointed in the shower. Evidently two things had fallen off the wall and were never replaced. Also no grab bars and the tub/shower was slippery.

I stay here regularly. They serve coffee in the lobby in the morning only, but the hotel is next to Dunkin Donuts anyway. I like this hotel and would recommend it.

The sliding door was inoperable and breakfast was a granola bar and horrible coffee.
