Comfort Inn Independence - Cleveland

My extended family & I booked this location back in February because it had a pool, When we arrived in July we were told that the pool was no longer available. Neither Expedia or the hotel itself contacted us to inform us of this change. When I asked if there was going to be compensation The clerk pretty much said no and to contact Expedia. While Expedia did compensate us for the rooms, I feel the hotel itself should have done a better job at informing Expedia of the changes and making our stay more comfortable considering it is July with 100° weather. Also, please review when booking a room because there standard room with two beds (room 220 )did not come with a refrigerator or a microwave & the TV did not work. Room 216 The phone and TV did not work . Of course we contacted the front desk and nothing was resolved. maintenance did not even came to the rooms. The furniture is old. There needs to be major renovation. Upon arriving I did check the bottom sheets which everything look good but I should have checked the top one too and come to find out in the morning I seen a blood smear. Room 221 was fine No complaints from family members in that room

Booked for the pool because i have 2 kids . Was not notified that pool had been out of service for awhile . Felt like their should have been some discount but was told no . So it was a bummer for the kids . Room was smelling of musty dirty water . Carpet seemed to be damp . Customer service was not good . Asked for clean towels and had to go get them myself . Lady who does breakfast was not so nice . Was not a good experience or stay .

The staff was helpful and friendly. The room was in good shape. Don't expect privacy if you need to use the "Business Center" for anything. The computer is on a desk in the lobby.

First their pool was shut down for a deck do over. My sisters a diabetic and had a drop in the sugar so i asked the breakfast person to if I could get a cup of OJ and she re refused me. So i had to take littery sugar packets to try to get it up when oj would have worked faster. Then their was a leak in my room that saturated the floor and for 2 days we didn't know what the problem was. So they got us a different room but i feel like for what i paid i didnt get my moneys worth.

Nice hotel. Not much to do around it. Pool was not u and running very disappointing.

We arrived at 3p and needed to check in early to go to a family member’s viewing 3-7pm. A short heavy man at the desk stated absolutely no checking before 4p. We changed our clothes for the viewing in the public restroom and came out to seeing another man (tall man) checking in another couple. We expressed out dissatisfaction with being told we couldn’t checkin but allowing others to checkin. He kindly checked us in but no apology. Elevator wasn’t working and repair person working on it, and kindly manually operated the elevator to take us up to 3rd floor and back down. There was no TV service and no explanation why. We were scheduled to stay 2 nights, but cancelled our 2nd night and stayed at another hotel for the 2nd night. Would not recommend staying at this hotel.

Customer service bad not friendly. Room smells bad. Bathroom dirty. Linen was stained. Carpet looks and feels sticky and nasty. Overall I didn’t not sleep.

Room was not clean, toilet has Urin/TP when I arrived, hair in the sink and non of the trash cans had bags in it. WiFi continue to disconnect. Used my phone has a hotspot in order to be online.

When I walked around the room in my socks they got very dirty. Bathroom could have been a little cleaner, and the exhaust fan, which was noisy & ran constantly, did not do a good job. Breakfast was really good & the person in charge kept everything clean & full. Otherwise, the place was quiet, and had restuarants within walking distance.

Not great , The room smelled like cigarettes and Mildew, sheets and comforter were very dirty and pee on the side of the toilet, that was never clean from the previous guest, the shower was dirty and the water pressure was awful

I traveled 2 nights for Bus. King Bed, decent and comfy pillows, bed and comforter. Spacious Room and Shower worked fine and very soft towels! However, I notice my socks were extremely dirty after walking in the room on the carpet. It really needs a good cleaning. The Breakfast was great and the server was constantly checking to restock items. Happy with my stay and Location, but not so happy about how dirty that carpet was in my room.

Great location. Stairway was filthy with garbage on the steps. Room was pretty clean just stains on curtains, floor and ceiling. Room was big and quiet. TV was really small and screen was blue and distorted. Overall it wasn’t bad for an overnight sleep.

The property looked nice and fairly well kept. We fell into bed and didn’t look too closely. I’m not sure if our room was cleaned, or not. The towels were stocked (not the case for another guest), and we had toilet paper ( also not the case for some others). We didn’t have hand soap, but made do with shampoo (which yet another guest was missing), and the bathroom floor was filthy. We were also missing coffee cups, coffee, the condiment packets and a working coffee maker (didn’t know till after I retrieved the other items). The bathroom cups we had were unwrapped and face down on the countertop, leaving me uncomfortable using them. (What if it hadn’t been washed?) I made another trip to the front desk for a liner for the ice bucket, only to discover the floor had no ice machine. I waited in line with people needing various basic supplies. I also overheard conversations in the breakfast area about missing basics. NOT ONE PERSON I ENCOUNTERED HAD A SEAMLESS EXPERIENCE! The breakfast was limited, but after everything else we were afraid to trust it. I did get coffee, which the very sweet desk attendant had made that morning. The staff at the desk were very nice. I felt horrible for them, and wonder how this Ramada is keeping employees, considering all the unhappy guests I am aware of during a one night stay. Definitely won’t be going back.

The room was very clean, as was the rest of the property. Very easy access from the highway and several restaurants nearby, including a good restaurant with a bar within walking distance. Our room had a view of the Downtown Cleveland skyline. All the staff were very friendly. My wife forgot her purse in the breakfast room and didn't realize till over an hour later. We called and confirmed it was there, drove back, and got it back with all the contents intact! Overall a good experience and great value for the price. We come to the Cleveland area often and plan to stay here again.

The pillows were lumpy, I could feel springs in the bed, the bathroom wall had mold on it, and there was a bug in the bathtub.

Room was damp - very damp - clothes and papers were damp to the touch during my stay. Carpet needs cleaned...my socks were black after an evening of walking in the room. I have stayed here for nearly 10 years. It was my greater-Cleveland go to. No longer...I will be finding somewhere else to stay when in Cleveland for business. Great staff - staff is always friendly and helpful!

Pool closed but didn't say that at the time of booking. Almost every tile on bathroom floor cracked. Toilet would keep running after being flushed. No electrical plug cover at coffee pot. One of the two outlets in the bathroom didn't work. Drain from sink has a minor leak. Appears to be missing wall art (hole in wall between 2 and you can see outline where it used to be at). Other than blonde lady at front desk, other 3 were either rude or acted like they didn't want to be there. Lady cleaning up breakfast was rude; tried to close down 8 minutes early and when I said I was using the waffle maker (someone just got off it so I was getting other things) she got all huffy, turned it back on and stormed off. Headboard is also loose.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Continently located and very clean. Hotel itself and furniture in need of updating but the staff make up for it by keeping it clean and neat. Breakfast is the typical hotel breakfast but the worker is very attentive and makes sure everything is above standard. Recommend asking for the top floor if you’re a light sleeper or want quiet because the floor squeaked above our room (213) extremely bad….

If your room was on the second floor you can hear people walking on the third floor. Incredibly squeaky and loud.

I love everything about the stay (the little breakfast buffet, the comfy beds & bedding, the bathroom size, the A/C in the room was turned on prior to our arrival and worked lovely), the ONLY downside was there was no mini-fridge in the room.

Good property. A little dated. Would’ve like to have seen a refrigerator and microwave in room. Comfy bed. Would return if necessary.

The staff were nice and quick. The room wasn't not great. The door to my room had broken pieces along the edge. The outlet the tv was plugged into did not work. The shower head was basically broken. There was a very bright light shinning from the parking lot directly at the building and the only curtains covering the window was a thin white veil so there was a spot light shining through my window

I was let down from the high expectations I had. This property needs updating and better beds.

The night staff at the front desk was very rude & unprofessional! I have stayed twice before & each time no one was there to check me in or the gentleman was visible sleeping! After I called Him out for waiting for about 30 minutes he refused to check me in & told me I was Lying.

The desk clerk was welcoming, friendly and helpful. He also switched my room to accommodate my 86 year old aunt with a walker. The housekeepers were also friendly.

Check in wasn't to bad. Nice room. Left to go get dinner and left do not disturb tag on our door. Upon return our tag was gone and key wouldn't work. They had given someone else our room while we were gone, and they had been able to get into our room with all of our belongings. Desk clerk was unsure how the mix up happened.

Not terrible but not great. Woman working front desk was incredibly rude and unhelpful. Room was clean and bed was comfortable. Breakfast was just okay. Room was very worn, needs new paint and carpet. Be warned to not show up before 4 and there’s no maintenance on property if something doesn’t work. I won’t be back due to the woman working the front desk.

The only negative I have is that there are no charging outlets in the room. I had my charging cord with me, but no charging block. It would be great if that was a feature added to the rooms. This was a great property at a good price. Close to the medical facility I had an appointment at. Would use this property again. Staff is so friendly and helpful.

At about 5:30pm on the day of check in, a lady from the hotel called me to confirm that I was still coming. I told her that I was on my way but coming from 4.5 hours away. She said they wanted to confirm I was coming because they had a lot of people in town for the concert. I informed her that I was also coming for the concert & would be there later this evening. Mind you, check in goes til midnight so I had plenty of time to get there. She seemed slightly annoyed that I hadn’t arrived yet & I was honestly worried they were going to give my room away. Upon check in, the gentleman at the front desk was nice enough to let us choose which floor we wanted to be on. Upon inspection of our room we discovered our shower did not work. We went to the front desk & the gentleman said that maintenance would be in at about 9:30am the next day. He added our name to the list for maintenance & told me to remind the front desk in the morning that our room needed maintenance. He also offered a discounted rate due to the inconvenience of the shower not working. The next morning I went to the front desk to remind staff & the lady there seemed inconvenienced by the fact that I was talking to her. We left the hotel around 11:30am that morning and didn’t return til 2am. Upon return, we got to our room & realized the was door cracked open. Maintenance came in at some point and fixed the shower but never ensured that the door was fully closed when they walked out. Luckily nothing was stolen.

Second time here. Wasn’t as good as the first time. Pros: Great location. Good breakfast. Decent amenities. Good price for stay. Cons: Saw hair on one of the wash clothes. TV could’ve been better. Limited housekeeping. Rude breakfast attendant.

Hotel smells like a wet basement. The person at desk was rude and the person who is in charge of breakfast is standing right behind you talking under her breath not a comfortable thing first thing in the morning. Whole hotel needs updated

Very convenient access to freeways.

Easy access to downtown attractions and Cuyahoga National Park. Area seemed to be safe. Lots of dining options nearby.

Good location, by Bob Evans, Winkin Lizard and many other restaurants. Room is good sized, great front desk people and breakfast is pretty good (eggs, sausage, pastries, waffles). Beds are ok but it's a hotel - so all good otherwise.

Excellent price /acommodation relationship. Great location to get to Cleveland Clinic.

Good choice for a budget location not far from Cleveland or Cuyahoga National Park. Close to major highways and plenty of choices for food. You can walk to the bar next door.

Great clean property…..excellent breakfast!!

was a decent one night stay. property was clean, but in dire needs of updating. Breakfast was the usual: waffles, scrambled egg, link sausage, breads, bagels, english muffins, sweet rolls, bananas, apples, juice

The hallway where the stairs are was dirty and did not get cleaned the whole time that I was there. The breakfast was really good and the staff was really nice.

They had a plain but good breakfast. Room was great and quiet.

When I realized I messed up my reservation on Expedia they called and the staff was super helpful. And kind. Only negative in our quick stay was the older lady manning the breakfast was so unpleasant. But overall a positive experience.

The property is dated, but clean. Our room was a non smoking room, but smelled badly of stale cigarette smoke. If we were there for more than one night, I would have asked to be moved. Breakfast was fine, but very packed with not enough seating. Staff did well to keep it stocked.
