Hawthorn Extended Stay by Wyndham Bloomington

After previously staying at the property for business a few years ago, we booked a room after attending a family wedding. The desk was not staffed and we had to wait and call the 800 looking for someone to check us in. The sofa and chair were in poor condition and I wouldn't sit on the sofa. The kitchen sink was dirty, the bathroom sink wouldn't drain and the bed and pillows are very firm and uncomfortable. The bar was closed indefinitely, as is the gaming room. For the price, the room and property overall need attention and upkeep. The breakfast was ok.

The elevator quit working.

Hotel breakfast and room were both nice. However, the pool was FREEZING. It was not swimmable due to the extremely cold temp for an indoor pool. Very disappointing for my kids.

Great hotel for the price! The room was spacious, the beds were comfortable, and the staff was very helpful. The only complaint was that the pool was closed.

Pool was closed for maintenance, wish we would have known beforehand.

Room/service/bed/breakfast= good. Dust on the bathroom exhaust was thick, no soap in the shower pump bottle (wasn’t hard to get more,) tv could have been a little bigger and most the machines in the fitness room were broken.

The rooms were dirty , the bar was closed down until further notice. Weeds growing up on the landscaping. Half of the keypads to the building did not work.(meaning you don’t need a key to get in. The lobby cooler for drinks was hot.

The hotel was okay but major reservation issues. Ice machine broken. Room was freezing upon arrival and took a while to warm up.

What I didn't like was we chose this place because they had a pool and we couldn't go swimming. If there was prper notification on the site of the hotel about pool not in use we would not have chosen this place.

The place was nice clean and cozy good customer service nice friendly only thing bad was the ac was broken in the pool room and the bar wasnt open but you can get pass those things cause of everyone that works that

Overall, the condition of the hotel was very poor and dirty. Will not recommend or stay here again.

Hawthorn Suites is a nice place to stay. Staff is friendly and rooms are clean and comfortable.

The floors were sticky feeling. My room had drawings all over the floor. Ny bathroom had hair all over the toilet and tub, with standing water in the tub still. There was mold/mildew around the edge of the tub and around the faucet of the tub. There was food still in the cupboards and frosting on the couch.

We would expect much better for a Wyndham hotel. This hotel is rundown, and in need of serious improvements all around. We stayed in room 222. Surfaces were dirty, and my kids feet were black after a couple hours of walking around on the floors. No carpeting, which I can understand but the floors were sticky. Couch was gross and had dried food and stains on it. Beds were comfortable, but the mattresses had stains all over showing through the white sheets. We found two dead cockroaches in one of our bags, which was left open on the floor. My kids did enjoy the pool. We would never consider this hotel again!

Room was not cleaned properly...trash was left and floor was greasy. But the rest was fine.

Our room was dirty. There was stains on the bedding, bugs crawling on the bed and garbage left in the nightstand. We actually never stayed in the room as I requested a refund and we went to a different hotel. Plus, there was no manager on duty, just one front desk worker running the entire hotel! I can’t believe Wyndham actually has their name on this place.

The rooms are not clean, the couches are filthy, hair in the shower, mold and mildew in the bathroom and kitchen sink.

My tv in my room did not work, they brought me another one that also did not work. Then, they said that they could not do anything else.

You get what you pay for; it was a fair price for an overnight but the rooms are old and worn out. 1970s style, sparce furniture, water damage bathroom, obvious wear, underequipped/capable A/C unit, etc. That said, the bed was comfortable for an overnight stop.

The bathroom in the room was in rough shape—missing drywall, only one bedside table, several lights that didn’t work, moldy looking caulk in the bathroom.

Friendly staff, big rooms, clean and comfortable

Television did not work. Water faucet in kitchen area, shakes and makes load noises. Bathroom fan very noisy. Have stayed here before, disappointed this stay.

Bed was comfortable but cant say much for the rest. The couch had a couple nasty stains and a picture was missing the glass and it looked like people were picking it apart. Can definitely use some upgrades and tlc.

Made a quick stop here before continuing on to our destination. Our room was very spacious and I could see how it would be nice for longer stays. It was located right off of 55 so easy access. Looked like a nice area with food options close. We appreciated that breakfast opened at 6am on weekdays so we could eat early and get on the road. Great breakfast options with eggs, sausage- both pork and turkey, potatoes, biscuits and gravy, cereal, pastries, yogurt, waffle maker, and juices. We enjoyed our stay and would stay here again.

This hotel has large rooms, nice clean lobby and hallways. Although the furniture is a bit worn, it is good quality. The staff was helpful and friendly. The breakfast included hot food as well as fruit, bagels, muffins, cereal, etc. The coffee was better than many hotels. I'd stay again if visiting Bloomington.

Staff was very nice and tried to be accommodating. There were a few mishaps during the trip but they all were addressed and compensation was given

Nice, spacious, convenient location, clean, excellent service. When the tv in our room wasn’t working, the desk receptionist, Rusty, came up to try and fix it and when that didn’t work, she promptly moved us to another identical room and made sure that the tv was working. We appreciate how quickly Rusty was able to rectify the situation. Well done!

They made a copy of my CC, that is a violation of PCI CC guidelines and then asked for a $100 cash deposit. Ridiculous

Booked the room a week prior. Traveled 3.5 hours only to arrive and be told there was no rooms available. The lady at check in was NOT sympathetic even and even refused to refund the money so we rent a room at a different hotel. So we were without a room and the money we paid at 11pm. She claimed they had no way of knowing who books rooms! This is completely unacceptable!

Kim at the property refused to let me check-in on Sunday & called the police to force me to leave. I submitted a request to extend my stay via the Hawthorn Suites direct website. Kim refused to accept my 1p & 3p check-out request for my prior stay. First, Kim called my room#, didnt know my name, & rudely stated that she will not extend my stay at all, no way. She said the Hawthorn Suites website had nothing to do with their property (false advertising about room amenities). When i came to the front desk to speak with her she was about 4ft outside the front door smoking a cigarette and looking at her phone. I asked if she was the person that talked to me 'like that' & she said yes, with an attitude. I walked away. When I came back in the building i noted to her thst she's smoking too close to the front door. I clarified my earlier conversation with Kim & she further stated thst i could stay if i paid another full nights fee. Hef coworker pulked up while we were talking & asked Kim what was going on. Kim told the coworker, with am attitude, "it's nothing". I said it wad something & proceeded to pay the cost for another night for approx. 4 more hours stay. Kim/Jamie called the police on me & told them that her name was Jamie, the alleged GM. Kim made no effort to accommodate my need to stay a few more hours. She even refused to let me sit in the lobby b4 she called the police on me. She was nasty, unprofessional and prior reviews speak for themselves. A valued Whyndam member

Clean, spacious room. Great water pressure. Nice breakfast, kind staff!

The staff was wonderful. They tried in every way to make you comfortable.

After we were given our room and asleep, our room was checked out to another family. They tried to get in at 4:45am. Woke everyone up. Nothing was done. In the morning none of our keys worked.

Front desk was not very welcoming. Got there 15 min prior to check in and was told the system would not allow check ins until after 3. Come back later. I understand and appreciate that but was not relayed in a friendly manner. Came back at 3:30 and was checked in but was very basic. Was not given any information about the hotel amenities such as breakfast, wi-if, pool or anything. Room was beautiful, large and very comfortable but would have liked to have felt more welcomed.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. Enjoyed the location next to restaurants and shopping.

Easy access from interstate.

Close to Cracker Barrel - easy to get a quick dinner.

The hotel itself is fine, and what you'd expect from a Hawthorn Extended Stay. But the area around it...geesh. Guards at the very substandard Love's Travel Stop, a closed Circle K nearby, a homeless man rambling and flailing at the light, and replaced the next morning by new homeless people...if you stay here it's to save money. Even then, I drove to the other side of I-74 for anything I needed. If prices in that area are anywhere comparable, go there.

I did like breakfast

Had issues during checkin with rude staff member at front desk. Then had issues with shower equipment. However, the next morning the staff was wonderful to get us into a better room with no issues. The breakfast was very limited and the cereral and pastries were old and stale.

The beds were comfortable, and the water pressure in the shower was amazing. The breakfast food was good, but there were a couple days where it was like they gave up on breakfast with an hour to go until it closed. They ran out of a lot of items, and when I asked the front desk about a couple of items, his response was “yeah, she’s in the kitchen somewhere. Just knock and she should be around. The room had water damage on the ceiling. When I brought it up to the clerk after first checking in, I was told they knew about it and to come back and let them know if there’s any new moisture. The tv didn’t work from the moment we got there. I messaged through the app about the issue, and the hotel never got back to me. I had young children with me, so I went to the front desk about it, but their solution was to move us to another room because they had no idea how to fix it. There was a patch of black mold above the mirror in the bathroom that we didn’t notice until the last of three nights. Based on their responses to everything else, we didn’t report that to the front desk. The fitness center machines were missing pieces, so the amount of weight couldn’t be adjusted, and some machines didn’t work at all. The size of the room was very nice, and it did have a really nice fridge. The A/C unit worked very well also.

Shower pressure was great. Bed sheets very clean. Continental breakfast was spectacular. Lady attending the continental breakfast was friendly and attentive.

Our room was dirty, poor remodeling job, cabinets uneven, paint all over, poor ventilation in pool. Husband for food poisoning from breakfast.
