Room in town centre

I left before I even got settled, the room I was staying in was trashed when I got there. Then there was no key for the room I was staying in-door was open when I arrived. Then the landlord said “I am busy can you change your own bedding” then said “I kept this room for you, I had to kick people out” trying to use emotional blackmail. There was used bed sheets with stains on, door open (with no key) bedroom was left messy, rubbish on the floor and a horrible smell. The price matches the description and is non refundable. I hope people read this and DO NOT BOOK. As it isn’t safe and the landlord wants you to change the own bedding; when I suggested getting a maid he says “I cannot afford a maid” ended up going elsewhere within 30 minutes of arrival; DO NOT BOOK HERE

I was turned away at the door

I have been scammed. I have booked a room on the Hotel.com website at 71 Hall Street, Saint Helens, WA10 1EJ, UnitedKingdom. Next day I called the landlord to doublecheck if  my booking is confirmed, he was rude an said I should not book as the room is not available, however the website let me do the booking without any restrictions. On 12.06.2026 the landlord contacted me and confirmed that I can come and have a room as he didn't want to cancel the booking. On 14.06.2026 I have travelled 3 hours to the destination and found out that there is no landlord at home and no room available either. I tried to contact the landlord more than 5 times while his number was on  voicemail. After all the attempts I had to go and find a hotel nearby, which put a lot of stress at me as it was more expensive and not easy as was already past 11pm.

Viktor was welcoming & so very helpful. The location is walking distance to everything fun, like the World of Glass Museum & the Transportation museum. And not far from lovely strolls along the canal. Stellar place to stay. The room had a microwave, an electric kettle and a clothes stand to hang my clothes. Also one large chest of drawers as well as a small chest of drawers and a lovely mirror. Well recommended!
