Although the location and the view remain spectacular, the overall upkeep of the hotel and quality of staff and amenities have gone down considerably. We’ve stayed here many many times over many decades to compare. First, the housekeeping is almost non existent. Our room was not clean upon arrival. There was trash on the floor in multiple spots. Trash can left on toilet seat. Years ago there was a woman who followed housekeeping staff and inspected the rooms. Front desk used to always greet you with a smile and glass of champagne. Now you get neither. He claimed they ran out of champagne after we asked since nobody offered any. The breakfast used to be bountiful and delicious and was included with your stay. Now it’s an extra charge and not nearly as good. No value. The complimentary coffee sign was literally hidden as if they were trying to prevent you from locating the free coffee. Lots of rotting wood on the porch and peeling paint. No longer well maintained. Only 2 outlets in room and one didn’t work. Need to revamp electrical and add charging ports. Beautiful old historic hotel that needs better care and improved management.

The room was clean. Staff was okay. The rooms were so noisy! The room reminded me of my room growing up in a 100 year old house which was cool but not when you can hear everything in the hallway. I was woke up many times because of it and I was at the end of the hallway. No TVor clock in the room either. The locks didn't make me feel all that secure in the room. They need to do updates to the door to help with security and noise.
