While there were many positive aspects of the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa-nice facilities, great pool area for kids, and clean rooms; the entire experience was a bit stressful, particularly parking being extremely hard to find. On two occasions I had to park in the remote lot as the main parking lot (and the overflow lot were full). It’s worth mentioning Traverse City was recieving heavy snowfall on this particular weekend. The kids liked the pool area but it was often very crowded, likely due to multiple youth sports tournaments taking place on site and in the area. My kids wished the lifeguards could be more proactive in keeping kids moving across the rope walk on the lily pads (similar to what Great Wolf Lodge does). Others would just sit or stand on the lily pads making this feature hard to use. All in all we liked the place, and I’d stay again, but might think twice on such a busy weekend.

Sporting options are excellent from pools to gyms, tennis courts, golf facilities and more. Dining options were also fine. We dined at the Aerie restaurant which offered decent value and fantastic views over the Bay. We also enjoyed the Sunday Buffet plus an evening refreshment at the Aerie bar with views over the golf courses.

Perfect last minute book for a family Fourth of July trip! Just a short 15 minute drive to front street in Traverse city and awesome onsite pool options, dining, shopping, arcade and more. We took advantage of the free shuttle over to the resorts private beach where there is also another pool! We swam for a couple hours then grabbed some food at the poolside bar before walking down to the private beach which is just right outside of the gate. The kids enjoyed the arcade and getting ice cream to finish the day. Sleeping bear national lakeshore is also just a short 25/30 minute drive which we highly recommend checking out! All in all it is a short drive to get to the action but it is still a great location and definitely packed full of great amenities! Will definitely stay again next year!

This place was amazing. Property is huge. Every part of our experience at GTRS was top shelf. Our room was in the tower on the 8th floor and had a wonderful view. The complex had everything, shopping, pools, bars, casual and formal dining. Very comfortable for either a casual or upscale getaway. We never felt the need to leave. The recreational area had workout facilities, a studio for fitness training, 2 indoor pools, a splash pad, 3 hot tubs and a seasonal pool area with a pool house.

I found a cockroach in my room! It was small, and we saw as we were in the room for about an hour crawling on the wall! I told front desk and all they did was move us to the room next door. It was room 337 and were moved to 338. As a guest at a hotel I wanted more then just a swap out. I left the dead roach in a napkin so they could see it. I will never come back to this hotel!!!

I had high expectations for this resort but it fell short in a few areas. There was a fingernail in the sheets which makes me feel like they were not cleaned. The AC didn’t work so we had to open the windows up. That was fine the first night but the second night music was blaring until I called the front desk at 1AM. The staff was nice.

We had a great time at the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa! We only spent one night here, unfortunately, but it is a wonderful resort! It was exceptionally clean and comfortable and I room was incredibly spacious.

This is the second time we stayed at your Resort the first time we stayed in the units by the water that the deck out side was very dirty dried ketchup and trash on the table and the room was not clean. We thought we would try staying at the tower over the 4th of July Despite the problems we had our first stay at your resort. The room we were in was clean but we had many things in our room that we not good i'll start in the bathroom the shower drain would not drain properly so there was standing water in shower all the time the grout floor in the shower and bathroom floor was black the fan in bathroom did not work the hair dryer switch would not work so you always had to unplug I will sent you pictures of the black mold in all the vents in our room and in the hall way very bad for the money we pay to stay at your resort we are very disappointed of the cleanest my wife and I both had a cough most likely do to the hvac system not clean We think it would be good for your company to address the problems and compensate us us for this mater. We arrived earlier than check in. The front desk people told me and another family member (we had two rooms booked under different names) that they would notify us when the rooms became available. They never did text us even though our rooms were ready. The male front desk reception was not very friendly overall, just seemed short and didn't provide any information about amenities, shuttles etc, where the other front desk ladies did provide it to my family member. The deck with the hot tubs is severally warped, one of the hot tubs would not turn on bubbles. Cleanliness was questionable. Mold growing in the internal hot tub tile grout. Definitely needs attention.

Very clean rooms and attentive housekeeping staff. However, rooms that aren’t in the tower have extremely small bathrooms and very little drawer space to unpack into. Tower rooms are very spacious and newly remodeled. Property was well maintained. Pools, hot tubs and spa were clean and in working order. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Golf courses are beautiful and easy to get to. Overall a great vacation.

We had an overall good stay. The hotel is older and certain areas are dated. The pool area is run down and needs a good cleaning. Staff are friendly and helpful. Our room was clean but did have hair on the floor which is minor but grossed me out!

I enjoyed my 2 night stay. The golf was great and the health club had many options for activities. My room was clean and spacious with a nice bay view. I will definitely stay here again!

Wonderful view from the room. We stayed in the tower. Pool area is nice but in need of some updates. Lots on of site amenities. Great for a family stay. Pillows were quite uncomfortable. All in all good for a couple night stay.

We were put into the 200 hallway next to Jack's Tavern. There is NO soundproofing. The small door in the hall that closes does not block the noise. It was loud every night until well after midnight with people drinking, screaming and being loud. We booked 4 days with resort this trip. Overall disappointed in the ability to relax at night.

First time staying here, expected it to be nicer based on the price. Room was decent size but bland, we could hear everything in the room next door. View was nothing special, mostly of buildings. Fairly disappointing overall, probably stay closer to town next time.

Great views, and golf courses. Clean air! The room was ok. Bed and pillows were NOT comfortable. The AC in the room was very loud. There wasn’t a closet or a safety box. The fridge was very small.

This is a beautiful hotel! The room that we stayed in was large enough for 2 people, although the bathroom was very small with no towel racks, only hooks in the shower and on the door. Water pressure was a little low. Would have liked a quicker shower. Beds were comfortable, and our floor was very, very quiet, which is a huge deal for me. Very satisfied with this. The one thing I was very disappointed in was the lack of maid service. The hotel is very clear that no maid service is provided, whether you stay 2 nights or 2 weeks. However, when they charge a $20 resort fee per night, and they don't provide anything else (other than parking, I guess), I expect for there to be maid service. I should have to go to the front desk and ask for more towels and soap. I shouldn't have to make my own bed for the price of the room that we paid. The maids that we saw didn't look busy. They were sitting down in the room across from ours. It would have been nice to have a clean room every night when we returned to the hotel. It's just one of those little things that really makes a difference.

I was told by front desk my room was almost ready for check in and would recieve a text message. After hours, i had to go back to the front deskto get my room keys. I also recieved the wrong room,I paid for a golf view room and was given a room with a terrible view of a industrial roof. Room 352 has a terrible smell and awful view outside the window. For paying the price of a resort with resort fees I would expect better. The hotel staff told me there was nothing they could do because I booked on a 3rd party sight.

If you're considering this hotel, be warned: flexibility and hospitality are not part of the package. I arrived early, hoping to check in after a long trip, but was met with a curt, unapologetic “no early check-in under any circumstances.” Not even a willingness to check availability or offer alternatives. Just a hard line and a cold shoulder. What made it worse? I had booked through a third-party site and reserved a room with a golf course view. Not only was that request ignored, but when I asked about it, staff brushed it off like it didn’t matter. It was clear from their tone and treatment that third-party guests are second-tier—if not outright dismissed. The implication was loud and clear: book direct or expect to be treated like an afterthought. The room I eventually received was fine, but the experience left a sour taste. Hospitality is supposed to be about care, not control. This hotel seems to have forgotten that. I won’t be back—and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone who values being treated with basic respect.

Loved the place, but we arrived at 3:00, put our name in for our room and sat in the lobby till 5:45 when they FINALLY gave us a room. (Four times to the desk to check says 4:00 check in) Really disappointing when we were on a tight schedule and wanted to spend those two hours enjoying the pool and facilities.

We arrived earlier than check in. The front desk people told me and another family member (we had two rooms booked under different names) that they would notify us when the rooms became available. They never did text us even though our rooms were ready. The male front desk reception was not very friendly overall, just seemed short and didn't provide any information about amenities, shuttles etc, where the other front desk ladies did provide it to my family member. The deck with the hot tubs is severally warped, one of the hot tubs would not turn on bubbles. Cleanliness was questionable. Mold growing in the internal hot tub tile grout. Definitely needs attention.

Several staff members could use a refresher course in hospitality. I have never experienced such rudeness at a hotel of this caliber. From check in to bartenders and waitresses. Given the choice I would not stay here again.

While there were many positive aspects of the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa-nice facilities, great pool area for kids, and clean rooms; the entire experience was a bit stressful, particularly parking being extremely hard to find. On two occasions I had to park in the remote lot as the main parking lot (and the overflow lot were full). It’s worth mentioning Traverse City was recieving heavy snowfall on this particular weekend. The kids liked the pool area but it was often very crowded, likely due to multiple youth sports tournaments taking place on site and in the area. My kids wished the lifeguards could be more proactive in keeping kids moving across the rope walk on the lily pads (similar to what Great Wolf Lodge does). Others would just sit or stand on the lily pads making this feature hard to use. All in all we liked the place, and I’d stay again, but might think twice on such a busy weekend.

I traveled alone and felt safe. Outside the property was beautiful and the golf course was immaculate. Inside the property was clean and had ample things to do with good food selections. The transportation service was very convenient and quick. I enjoyed access to the private beach with transportation by the hotel and the activities scheduled. I also enjoyed the convenient transportation service to the casino. The location is nice because it’s close enough to the action in Traverse City, but far enough away to enjoy peace and quiet without the noise of the traffic.

Perfect last minute book for a family Fourth of July trip! Just a short 15 minute drive to front street in Traverse city and awesome onsite pool options, dining, shopping, arcade and more. We took advantage of the free shuttle over to the resorts private beach where there is also another pool! We swam for a couple hours then grabbed some food at the poolside bar before walking down to the private beach which is just right outside of the gate. The kids enjoyed the arcade and getting ice cream to finish the day. Sleeping bear national lakeshore is also just a short 25/30 minute drive which we highly recommend checking out! All in all it is a short drive to get to the action but it is still a great location and definitely packed full of great amenities! Will definitely stay again next year!

Aerie restaurant has a great view, and service is excellent. Menu is very limited. The prices are very over priced. The $86 dollar steak I had compared to that of a Texas Road House steak for $26 dollars. The vegetables that accompanied the steak was that of two half forkful’s. My girlfriends Caesar salad came with anchovies in the house dressing which was not specified in the menu which left a terrible taste in her mouth the rest of the night. She did not eat her salad after one bite. We were very disappointed with the food at Aerie and not recommend this place to anyone. If you want to check out the view, order drinks only. It’s a shame because this place has a lot of potential, just a terrible greatly overpriced menu.

Sporting options are excellent from pools to gyms, tennis courts, golf facilities and more. Dining options were also fine. We dined at the Aerie restaurant which offered decent value and fantastic views over the Bay. We also enjoyed the Sunday Buffet plus an evening refreshment at the Aerie bar with views over the golf courses.

The only thing they could improve on is the food, the 2 restaurants we went to were both very bland so we just stuck to the coffee shop in the mornings. Everything else was great!

Great stay. 2 thumbs up! The hotel is a bit worn in spots and it is starting to show its age, but still clean and clearly effort is being put in to do some updates. On the labor day weekend it was very, very busy (couldn't get a reservation at the restaurants), but generally welcoming and clean.

This property is not accommodating and beyond over priced for what you get. The walls are paper thin. Most of the shops and dining close early, unless you want to pay $100 per person for dinner. There is a charge for everything they offer plus they charge a resort fee. The marketplace for snacks closes early so no late night snacks or drinks. The bar in the lobby was never open. The shuttle doesn’t take you to the airport if your flight is the first one out. That’s not mentioned on the website. The Den for kids is a small room and their prices are outrageous. No room service for dinner except Wednesday- Friday. This establishment calls themselves a resort because they are on a golf course. Save your money, the golf course is open to the public. Stay down the road and travel here, but not by Uber or Lyft unless you want to spend $30 for a 2 mile ride. Absolute disappointment.

Grand Traverse Resort is a great place to stay if you’re visiting the Traverse City area for golf. The location is very convenient—about 20 minutes from downtown Traverse City and roughly 30 minutes from the wineries. The resort itself is a little outdated, but the rooms are very spacious. Unfortunately, our room had a noticeable musty smell, especially the pillows, which took away from the overall comfort. The bathroom was also surprisingly small—really only comfortable for one person at a time—and the shower had very low water pressure. Considering how large the room is, there seems to be a lot of wasted space. I would much rather have had a larger, more comfortable bathroom than so much unused space in the bedroom area. Overall, it’s a good choice for a golf getaway because of the location, amenities, and large rooms. However, the guest rooms and bathrooms could definitely use some updating and attention. While we enjoyed the golf and the convenient location, next time I’ll probably try another hotel or an Airbnb for a little more comfort.
