Wyndham Garden Ann Arbor

The hot tub was out of order. Beds were small and pillows absolutely horrible. The bathroom was so small, a larger person wouldn’t even be able to shut the door. The manager opened our door to go into our room before 9 am on check out day and woke us up.

Staff at front desk were helpful. Hotel was dirty throughout, especially the pool and spa area. The bottom of the pool was visibly dirty from the upper balcony. There were trash cans spread out through the atrium, likely to catch water from a leaky roof. Floor trim pieces were broken and presented trip hazards in the walkways. The parking lot was also very dark due to the lights not being on at night. The room was small but comfortable. However, the shower handle was leaky and the drain backed up immediately. An open bottle of shampoo was evidence of a lack of cleaning from the previous stay. This hotel needs to staff up to increase maintenance and cleaning. Lots of potential, but seems to be just scraping by. I give it two and a half stars out of five. Stayable, but not desirable.

Pool looked disgusting, too many steps in and out of food area

I had to leave this place and cancel the reservation. I hope I get a refund. I waited 30 min to check in, very confusing to find room. I had a window into hallway at the remote back of the hotel. I was approached by people asking where I was going. I went to front desk when I couldn’t find my room and stepped in vomit by front entry. Hot tub broken.

The hotel is architecturally nice but not maintained. The hot tub wasn't operational. Carpet edging was missing or pulled away. The ice machines weren't working. There was water leaking from the roof and dripping into small buckets from the rain. The direct TV wasnt getting local channels but not a huge deal. However, The room was nice and I enjoyed the free breakfast.

Common areas such as carpet were dirty. Pool was in poor condition, spa was closed. Breakfast was barely lukewarm. No room cleaning during the four days. A/C in my room was filthy dirty which was only noticed on my last night when I got sick because of it. Manager seems incompetent

Our stay was good. The hotel is very, very spacious. When we arrived we were told there was a restaurant or some kind of area to eat dinner within the hotel and that it closes at 9:30pm. We asked if we could see a menu and she said it was at the bar, also inside the hotel. We searched for this restaurant or eating area...there was an area with tables, but it wasn't a restaurant and whatever it was, was closed. We went to the bar and there was no one working behind it and there wasn't a menu to be found for "dinner." The whole hotel, besides our room smells very strongly of chlorine because there is an indoor pool and hot tub. We did get in the hot tub. The pool and hot tub both need a really big deep clean. The building is very old. They really need to do a ton of updating/upgrading/deep cleaning. The exercise room is very small and in a weird location, which was hard to find. It also smelled really bad in there. So bad that we couldn't stand to be in there but a few minutes. On the good side of things, the breakfast in the morning in that eating area was wonderful. Great food! I would say top notch. It was really great to have in the morning. I was thankful for it. Our king sized bedroom was fine. The bed was clean and comfortable. Big tv, mini refrigerator, keurig and microwave. AC worked in our room. The shower had great water pressure, but the shower curtain is way too short, so water goes all over the floor. It was fine for a one night stay.

The open pool atrium. Didn’t like having a room without a window to the outside. The gym had 3 machines, mat and resist a ball which was a bummer. For that large of a facility! Staff nice, clean, reasonable otherwise.

Property is pretty run down. The pullout couch in the suite had a bloody napkin stuffed in the cushions, the cushions very clearly hadn’t been lifted and cleaned under in some time. Air conditioning did not work, phone to desk didn’t work. Pool needed to be cleaned and hot tub was out of order. Breakfast and Joseph the bartender are the reasons for not rating this stay lower.

The breakfast was decent and the staff was nice. The pool and jacuzzi were among the dirtiest and smelliest that I've ever encountered and the jacuzzi didn't work. I called in advance before I booked the room to ensure that it did, but the jets didn't work and it was disgusting inside. I will not stay at the Wyndham Garden Ann Arbor ever again. The wingate in Brighton was much nicer both room cleanliness and everything else. The floor was sticky in my room and so were the tops of the surfaces.

The hotel had poor renovations with wall paper peaking away, ceilings peeling and patched, tile wall of the shower pulling away from the tub itself, cracked tile etc. However, the worst part was that it was not clean. There was hair in every corner of the floor.

Room was dirty. Dirt, debris and bottle of ky on the floor. Bathroom had mold, dirty tub. Handles falling of doors, general upkeep of hotel was terrible. The place is falling apart. Would never stay there again.

There were bugs in the room and the toilet water bowl did not automatically refill after each flush.

My husband woke up in the middle of the night with a bug on his head

Didn't seem very clean and I am by far not a hotel snob but saw hair on the top comforter. The heater was blowing air. Just seemed not too clean.

Dirty dirty dirty. Couch should be burned. Nevermind crumbs and bugs throughout the room.

Took over an hour for us to get checked in and keys that worked. Greeted by huge roach getting on elevator. Hair wads, lint, dust all over floors. Dust caked on vent of a/c, heating unit. Pubic hair in tub. Spills noticebly in bathroom not cleaned up. Staff clearly frustrated, unprofessional and unaccomadating. Outside was dirty as well with cigarette butts everywhere and what appeared to be maybe locals just hanging out. Since we didnt get checked in til almost 11pm, we stayed and were checked by 630am. We requested to cancel the following evening in afvance and then at check out which was never relayed apparently. Had to wait for someone to come around the front desk in the morning only to say put your keys in the box with no further communication just staring at me. Clearly not interested in being helpful or even being there. Hotels.com has been trying to reach manager to follow up on a refund and continues to not receive any response.

Immediately after entering my bedroom, I noticed that the sheets were dirty ( I took the pictures). Even worse, the next day when I went to shower and pulled out the shower curtain there was a plastic dental floss and tissue in the tub…. I have never been in such an unhygienic hotel!

The sheets on the bed had huge stains and there were flies in the bathroom. My room was very old and run down.

We had issue with our AC. We called someone and they sent maintenance up at 9 pm. He juggled a few things and said ok. It was a miserable nights sleep we had a race we were running the next morning so after the race when we came back the room was miserable so we called yet again and they said we will send someone up when they get to work. We asked for another room and after an hour of complaining we were switched to another room

Old out dated rooms. You could hear and see the outside of the room from the vent at the top of door. The pool did not look very clean or inviting. Breakfast buffet was sub par typical food. I will most likely not stay there again.

tv remote didn't work right, noisy air conditioner, and had to use bathroom plug to charge phones

Room was nice and clean but the shower had some issues draining.

Terrible experience! The air conditioning in our room was not working so we complained at the front desk. The lady said she is sending someone to fix it, but no one came. We couldn’t sleep all night due to this. Next day when I told them during checkout that no one came to fix it, the lady just said ‘OK’. No apologies whatsoever. The toilet was broken and kept wobbling and the washroom was dirty too.

Beds & pillows were comfortable. Walls & doors seemed thin, so was loud.

The property is outdated, in disrepair, and staff is inattentive. Room airconditioner was very noisy. Arrangement of room and bath are inconvenient.

Room was older. Looked cleaned but when we opened drawers, there was food in one of them. The creepiest thing is the curtain (that looks into the hallway) doesnt close all the way. When you sit on the bed and look in the mirror, you can see into the hallway. We went into the hallway and looked in and if you look in the mirror you can look right onto the bed. We had had to use hair clips and push our luggage up against the curtain so now one can see in.

We stay here often. This time, there was a mistake on the manager's end. The gentleman at the front dest was extreme patient, kind, prficient and knowledgeable. He handled a couple of approximately 8 guests, some of whom were not kind or patient in a very friendly, professional manner & had extremely good multi-tasking, organizational and customet service skills. We ultimately had hotels.com transfer our booking to another hotelas we could've wait due to medical issues with one of our party. Front desk gentlemen was AMAZING!

TV's didn't work. When we went to the front desk to inquire, we were told we could go home if we didn't like it. Toilet also leaked across the bathroom floor every time it was flushed.

Dave and the check in desk was great, Mike running bar and restaurant was super friendly!! Definitely will be returning!!

Pretty good value. They offer the longest timeframe for breakfast I've experienced. Most places only allow for 2-3 hrs, they allow for 4. They send a text right away after check-in for communicating issues/questions. I did have a small issue, but I was never acknowledged, so the whole thing was moot. Don't bother with the text if you're not going to respond. Otherwise, good amenities in the room: fridge, microwave, iron, hair dryer, good tv shows

If I could give no stars I would. Waited for over 20 minutes for the front reception. Once he finally arrived at desk he was EXTREMELY rude, we ended up having to contact Expedia, get refunded & find another hotel. He lied about his name and was extremely condescending and disrespectful.

First, let me say that the staff was nice, but it pretty much goes downhill from there. Honestly I get it if you aren’t going to wash the sheets for 3 days, but they don’t make the beds, empty the garbage, or replenish towels and supplies? We were there to move a kid into college. We were gone alll day. When we got back I had to ask for toilet paper, tissue (lots of crying involved) towels so we could shower after long sweaty days of move in. Thank god we brought shampoo and shower gel because a 1 oz bottle of each was good for two showers max. It was not replenished. There were three of us staying plus the kid moving in hanging for last minute quality time. Also, the air conditioning didn’t work. After the first night I asked if they could try to fix it, and it was fixed for a couple of hours, but by the next day it was hot in the room again. This wouldn’t even be that horrible except for the fact that our room had no window to the outside, only the hall way. We all slept horribly. No natural light, no fresh air. I had to come back one day to do some work, and I couldn’t even stay in the room, it was too hot and stale. I made the reservation month ago, so it was about $500 for three nights, but I would have expected a more comfortable stay for $99 a night. I’m sick of getting taken advantage of for having to stay in college towns for high volume weekends. Let’s normalize service for payment no matter when you’re staying.

I had to ask several times about dining, room location, etc. Then when i got to my room it had only 1 king when i booked 2 queens for my son, husband, and I. Front desk said thats all they had and I MIGHT be able to get compensation on check out tomorrow. I decided to just deal with it but then tried to settle in the room and it was HOT. I tried to turn down the AC and it was already down as far as it went (dial only, no thermostat). I immediatly askes for a refund and booked elsewhere.

Front desk clerk almost rude

The hotel offered advance check in to save time on arrival where if you checked in in advance all you needed to do was pick up your keys. The person at the desk was not familiar or trained on this process. I arrived at midnight after a long day and it took them 20 minutes to figure it out and give me my keys. Then I finally get to the room and it is muggy with an AC unit that didn’t work properly, fun on the floor and a leaky tiny toilet. The bed was comfortable though.

Good spot close to shopping and UofM and entrance to hughway.

Proximity to downtown

The property itself was very retro but clean. Breakfast was yummy and staff was really great. The problem we had was the property had a car show going on for the weekend and the people with the show literally took ALL of the parking...then what they didn't use they blocked off with rope. Very rude. They told us we could park down the road. We paid for our room, we had every right to park on the property....esp. since these obnoxious car show people were taking up much more space than they needed. We ended up moving their ropes to park...When I said something to the front desk they were nice but basically lamented there was nothing they could do. Next time give the show a designated area and let the other paying customers park in the hotel parking lot.

Love location

Great location. Close to University of Michigan. Convenient to Weber's Restaurant.

Our stay was good. Location was very convenient. The staff were very friendly. It’s a little outdated. Our room was right by the highway, so the traffic was a bit loud. Our sink was very slowly draining the bathroom. There was only one working ice machine on the opposite side of the hotel. A good spread for the continental breakfast and you can’t beat the price. Will stay again.

This is an aging property from a time when cavernous indoor spaces could be heated. I can't imagine what their energy bill is when it's -10F as it was when I stayed there. The place is a little beat up, but was perfectly adequate for my purposes, and the staff was very friendly and competent. I was able to walk to a variety of very good restaurants. Rooms on the north side have quite a bit of traffic noise from I-94; rooms on the south side were very quiet.

Immediately adjacent to I-94. Hotel itself was clean & quiet.

Friendly staff and good breakfast

This is Ann Arbor, yet the property is a shambles. No dinner at all available, even on Fri or Sat night in their cafe. Bar not open until after 7 on a Friday night. It was closed from Tues until Thurs. that we experienced. The hot tub looked nasty, greenish water. Things in the room were so dated, I don't know where to start. Bathroom from the 50's, cracks and all.

We’ve stayed here twice for Michigan games. First time was excellent. Second time was just okay. Free breakfast isn’t anything great but good for a bagel and a banana or something. Not our favorite but the price vs other hotels on game day weekends makes it a good spot

Online check in and check out was super convenient. Staff was extremely friendly and bed comfortable. Breakfast was really nice and had a huge amount of offerings. Area was convenient for our football game stay. Heating unit was a bit old and noisy and bathroom ceilings had some peeling paint and mold stains. But overall for the price it was a good stay and I'd stay here again.

Was not impressed with the facility. Ran out of food Sat and Sun, did not have coffee available through the day, had 16 channels of sports 6 of news no local news, no nbc, abc, cbs few other channels, internet bad, weak,had to pay for extra coffee for the room. Coffee pot broke Sunday. . Our first room the air conditioning would not stay on, put us in a new room same-thing happened, it needed to be reset. Staff was good place was clean, we were there for 3 days, nothing around the area to do. Would not stay there again.

The pool and hot tub were clean and temperatures were perfect! Breakfast was very fresh and hot (and we arrived at 10am). The staff that we did interact with was friendly and helpful.

Restaurant and bar were not open during our stay. Hot tub was out of service. Room was nice. Front desk was polite.

The property feels dated, perhaps a Holiday Inn of years gone by, but the staff were lovely and we really enjoyed our stay. Our room was clean as could be. Housekeeping checked to see if we needed towels, shampoo, etc. The breakfast buffet was above average - hot sauce for my eggs, tater tots, waffle iron and yogurts. I was happy with the value for the price we paid.
