Best Western Beacon Inn

We stayed for 1 night. Experience was ok. We would probably stay again. Only issues we had were the toilet in our bathroom seemed to leak water, the hvac unit in room was nearly broken, but main issue was the amount of chlorine used for the pool. As soon as you walk into lobby it hits you in face and was very unpleasant to eat breakfast with the smell. Kids wanted to swim so we tried going but our eyes were burning within minutes of entering pool.

The best thing I have to say about this hotel is although it seems old and outdated it was clean. We were put in a side building unattached from the hotel so use of the pool and hot tub were inconvenient. The biggest issue I had was with the service. I checked in request connected rooms. I was told there are no connecting rooms but he would put us next to each other. I checked in about 5:15 (check in starts at 4). We went to dinner and came back to realize our rooms were 509 and 610 but on the opposite side of the building of each other. When I inquired and asked for a room change or solution no apology was given. I was told I should have checked in earlier and said that we have kids. Which I had been told our rooms were next to each other and he had asked if we had kids I said yes. He proceeded to tell me no he knows his words he didn’t say that. A simple apology and we are booked up at the very least would have been nice. And if he said I requested no such things why would we have rooms 609-610 in numerical order? Obviously he made a mistake not knowing 610 is on the other side of the building. Very poor customer service and not only to myself but I witnessed it of other guests. This may be an employee issue but also the inconvenience of being in a separate building makes my choice to never stay here again. There should be apologies or resolutions to valid guest complaints.

Great location however not a lot of parking in front of the hotel. We didn’t have hot water and had to change rooms 3 times to take showers.

Overall was a good experience. The tv in the rooms weren’t really user friendly. We couldn’t use YouTube on the tv and using regular tv wasn’t great. We used the pool and it was freezing cold. Our room was clean but the bed was very very uncomfortable. The next time we come to Grand Haven probably will stay somewhere else.

Staff was excellent. Beds were very comfortable. I did not realize we would be in a building not attached to the hotel. So when the kids wanted to swim, we had to walk (in the cold & rain) to and from the main building to get to the pool. Same with breakfast.

Room is very spacious and very clean. Breakfast in the morning was sufficient. There is a motel connected to the property and the guests at the motel took many of the available parking spaces for the hotel guests.

The pool and hot tub were both nice. The pool seemed large for a hotel, with maximum occupancy of 25 and the hot tub had a maximum occupancy of 9. Children could stay in the pool until 10pm and from 10-11pm it was reserved for adults only.

Ive stayed at the Baymont for over 10 years, and after being disappointed time after time, we statted going to Best Western. The lady that runs the front desk is there all the time, and its just a nice feeling to go back to the same person who recognizes you. The rooms are nice, bed and pillows were comfy. Breakfast was decent: eggs, bagels, waffles, and thenusual breakfast stuff. Pool and hot tub were clean and working properly. My only minor conplain was how strong rhe chlorine smell was in the pool area. It burned my daughters eyes just sitting in the room so we had to prop open the door. I will continue to come back here and stay! Oh and you are literally right behind McDonalds when you stay here. BK, Panera Bread, Russ's, Taco Bell.. are all within walking distance.

I was expecting a hotel, not a motel room. I was happy with the room, it was sufficient for what i needed. Not the most comfortable bed. The shower curtain was dirty, so they obviously do not change those out between people staying there. Had to contact front desk for hand soap for the sink, went to pick it up. The pool was nice. Clean area and actually had a warm pool. I do not use the hot tub, but it was quite busy when i was in the pool. The location was good.

Very nice pool hotel. Breakfast was quite nice. We had a separate building from pool and breakfast but we didn’t mind at all. Convenient to restaurants and a Meijer. 2 miles from beach

Previous guests left food in refrigerator so it’s questionable how clean room was. A/C didn’t work consistently. Will not stay here again.

The room smelled, the shower curtain was broken, the freezer was dirty with what appeared to be black mold. Very disappointing considering the cost. Window was dirty. Indoor pool was nice but the water was freezing.

The room was very clean and comfortable. I especially appreciated that the in-room heating unit was quiet and efficient. The room as a whole was peaceful. Although the hotel is on a very busy street, I didn't hear the traffic noise at all.

Room was very damp and smelled like there was a mold issue.

Cleanliness. First room was handicapped and it stunk like it hadn't been used and there were dead bugs on bathroom floor. When we switched rooms. room 405 Behind the beds was filthy with dust and small items like plastic cutlery and rubber bands., screen door was ripped so we could not have door open or bugs get in, ceiling in bathroom full of mold splotches in corners. Two out of three lamps had only one light bulb where there was supposed to be two and one lamp and outlet in room didn't work at all, had no bulb. TV guide was not correct for channels so we had to guess. pool and hot tub areas were ok. Beds only had mattress no box spring and were lumpy. slept poorly due to that. Crud in my nose due to all the dust flying around room as had to use air conditioner on fourth of july weekend. I will consider holiday inn next time. Not one staff member apologized for inconvenience of switching rooms, only said no problem when i thanked them for the switch. Not impressed with this place for the price i paid. Plus sides were one level rooms and private entrance. The showers were hot and had good water pressure. I did appreciate the courtyard area, the sitting area outside the pool with loungers and chairs. lightening around the building was adequate, as was parking.

Nice employees, pool and breakfast. My room, 511, had highly visible mildew all over the ironing board and so did bottom half of bathroom door. Carpet needs a serious deep clean. Overall decent, just needs more attention to detail on keeping it clean.

I think they forgot to clean the bathroom.:(

The room was wonderful!! Sparkling bathroom, clean shower curtain, fresh beds and your staff was amazing!! The thing that i suggest improvement on is the carpet. It was clean but shows some wear. Again, your people were amazing! Thank you.

The room was not very clean. I found a used plastic fork behind the nightstand while trying to locate an outlet. The room needs updates for additional outlets. There was a limited number next to the bed, making it difficult to charge a phone and plug in a CPAP. The carpet was dirty and stained. The paint in the bathroom was peeling. The showerhead was gross and needed serious attention to clean all the build up off. I do not recommend this place.

Room was very large and clean. But the walls were very thin. I could hear the neighbours TV. Overall a very nice stay.

Terrible experience with noisy neighbors in next room. Walls are paper thin. Screaming parents and children still continuing and it is almost 1a.m. Room was in an “annex” building - not the main hotel area. Very misleading and super overpriced for what it is. We would definitely not return.

I like that is was convenient and close to everything we wanted to do . I didn’t like the fact that there was constant issues with WiFi. I could not get an internet connection. Also, there was constant dripping coming from the faucet in the bathtub.

Rooms had a weird smell. The TV also was confusing since the paper did not have the correct channels that matches up to the guide. So we struggled to find something to watch. Was convenient and close to all the Grand Haven activities. The rooms were clean.

There is a hotel on the property, but they are advertising "motel" rooms as the hotel as well. I don't want to go outside to get to the lobby. The website was very misleading.

The accommodation was easy to find, and the room was spacious and clean, which was great. It had two queen-size beds, both in excellent condition. I would definitely consider staying here again if I visit this area in the future.

The gentleman at the front desk was super kind. Wish I got his name he was working 8/22. Anyway just a great experience and the courtyard rooms are amazing! Thank you again

Property clean and orderly, professional staff

We arrived and the wifi was not working and they could not/would not check us in. We were forced to leave, find a restaurant and come back. This despite filling out their “online easy registration” checkin from a text, completed BEFORE arrival. They were not willing to alter their protocols and had no solution, even though I could show them my confirmation on my phone. When we returned from dinner we had to wait 10 minutes to check in because the attendant was in the back room looking for shampoo for another guest. When we finally were allowed to check in, the card reader malfunctioned, which took another 10 minutes. I asked if they would accommodate us by allowing my 15 year old to swim before they closed the pool to minors. Not surprisingly, I was told “no”, they do not make accommodations. No kidding…interestingly enough, when my girlfriend and I got out of the pool, a family was at the front desk trying to check in and had been ringing the service bell for 20 minutes, with no response. Our room had a large dresser which had a cabinet that housed the fridge, 3 large drawers and the TV sat on top. One of the drawers would not stay shut and continued to open right into the walkway. After struggling to keep it shut, I called the front desk and explained that I was concerned someone was going to walk into it and asked for a piece of tape to secure it. The front desk knew of the problem and said to be patient and someone would tape. They never came. Poor service!

I decided on this hotel because I didn't want an exterior door to my room, seeing I was traveling by myself. When I got there, the lady at the desk (who was rude and unapproachable) said my room was in "The Annex building". Not only did I end up with an exterior door, the parking lot was dimmly lit and secluded by trees. I did not feel safe at all! You could hear the people upstairs walking, they were not being loud, they were just walking! So, I got little sleep that night. On a positive note, the room was very clean and the bed was comforable. It just was not worth what I payed for, spending 65 more for safety reasons, only to end up feeling unsafe.

Staff very friendly, helpful and courteous in all our conversations. Everything in and around the hotel is clean and well kept. Complementary breakfast was fresh, delicious and of very good variety.

While this hotel was convenient to activities and clean overall, the service and staff were poor. We asked twice for housekeeping on our room and watched them put it into the computer. We came back late that night to no housekeeping. When we questioned it the front desk girl rolled her eyes and said yeah that happens. We asked for clean towels and wash clothes and were told yes but then she gave us a bag and told us we had to bring down the dirt towels for her as well as change our own garbage out. Very rude bas ridiculous. We won't stay here again.

Hostess at front desk was cold to me, spoke to soft, never smiled, was not willing to say anything except the rules over and over. She finally called the manager who was off duty. She was wonderful. The other girl is not a people friendly person.

We wanted to book a last minute trip but didn’t have a lot of options since it was a holiday weekend and we were traveling with our dog. We were happy to find this place. They were pet friendly and the hotel was a 10 minute drive to the dog beach at Kirk park and a 5 minute drive to downtown.

It was a nice quiet place. Close to so many food options. Close to lake access. Staff was friendly and helpful. Clean pool and hot tub.

This hotel was perfect for what we needed...somewhere to crash after a busy day! The room was clean and the location was close to the beach.

Just a quick in and out. Property was easy to locate and in a good location for our visit.

The traffic patterns required by the highway design near the motel made entry and departure inconvenient

The bathroom was not very clean. My husband had to repair the toilet Breakfast was served until 9:30 but they were out of items before 9:00.

Great location to town we have plenty of space for our small boat too! Breakfast nice options also.

No soap in container in shower! Water in shower lukewarm! Breakfast was limited to say the least. Would not recommend this hotel.

Property was well kept. The breakfast left a little to be desired. Food was not warm, and not always available.

Great place to stay if you are looking for a convenient and comfortable inn at a reasonable price. Free breakfast was great!

Great breakfast bar and the staff was very kind and responsive. Great experience!

The staff were very courteous and helpful. We were disappointed in the complimentary breakfast. Very limited warm items that were institutional and not replenished timely. No bread for toasting, only bagels.

Very clean with updated room. Bed was very comfortable. Typical breakfast, could have been better if refreshed more, and tables were cleaned.
