This place was absolutely disgusting. The couch in the room looked like it had come from the dump. It was broken down, stained, and had cigarette burns on it. The bathtub was peeling and the paint and hair was stuck in the drain. The bedsheets had stains and there was a pubic hair on the bed. Drawers didn’t close. The dishwasher was broken and just fell open. The walkway to our room was so icy it was dangerous. The offices closed at 7 pm so we couldn’t ask for a refund or new room until Saturday morning. The lady at the front desk was amazing! However when she called her manager to approve our refund, her response was “I don’t work on weekends”. Then she proceeded to tell me we had to get a hold of hotels.com to get our refund even though we paid onsite at check in. I have NEVER dealt with a hotel manager that was so rude! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!

Rough Property, Understanding Management 1) The Affordable Suites were more like ghetto housing projects than a half decent Inn. 2) The Management was very understanding and refunded our bill We booked a weeklong stay for "Affordable Suites of America Grand Rapids" six months in advance. The pictures online seemed nice and the reviews were okay. We arrived last week, the check in was fine, but as soon as we pulled away from the office, it was clear something was very wrong. The landscaping was neglected, the outside facilities were dirty and some rubbish was laying around. The other vehicles parked were all worn-out jalopies. We parked, and found a intravenous needle on the parking lot. The smell of waste, pot, trash, and human body odor was unmistakable in the air. The inside of the suite we booked was sticky everywhere. The floor was dirty and sticky, the shower was broken, the microwave was broken. There were patched and unpainted holes and dings everywhere on the walls. The front desk management was very understanding when we pointed these things out and we received a full refund. Thank you for that!

Our stay was ok and doabke for ehat we were there for, one night for a volleyball tournament. First thing I called yhe day before and asked for an early check in because we wouldnt make it within the feont desk office hours. I was told no problem and that a note would be left o. My reservation. When we got to the hotel around 1pm the ladies working the front desk told me check in was 4pm and they dony have any rooms ready and no one left them any note or confirmation. After some back and forth they got a room ready for us. We get to our room and immediately walimh around looks like thungs in the window were broken, room was dirty, the floor was disgusting, the slider had writing all over and didnt look safe. Then hadnt even been 10min there was a knock on the door for housekeeping checking if the room was occupied??? So im assuming our room wasnt even cleaned properly. We didnt feel very safe. It was just myslef, my daughter and my friend. (All girls) When we returned for the evening after 10pm. We were trying to go to bed. We pulled out the sofa bed and sheets were dirty and stained, the bed felt like there was sand/dirt inside on the sheets, towels were dirty and stained. Like I said for one nite it is what it is. It was busy weekend a lot of events going on and nit much left for hotel stays. But for future U would not stay here or reccomend it. It seemed very sketchy, dirty, and unprofessional staff and abotjer guest was complaing about a couple fighting loudly

The first thing we noticed was the dirty couch with the spots and a tear in it (it felt greasy and we didn't sit on it). Then the dog-chewed end table, the baseboard trim held on with painter's tape, the loose electric outlets missing their covers and the complete lack of any utensil or dish in the kitchenette. However, the place was clean which is a tribute to the housecleaning staff, and the bed was comfortable. BUT the artwork over the bed did fall on us at 6:AM narrowly missing my wife's face. It seems the anchors in the wall had been ripped out and just pushed back in. The front desk did call us the morning before check-in to warn us that they had very limited hours, which we thought was a courtesy, but really just meant that we had to be there or be locked out. When we left, the desk wasn't open so we left the key and couldn't report the artwork incident. I've heard the place is changing hands, I hope it gets the care it needs, it could be charming with a little maintenance and money

The room was disgusting, the floor was so sticky your shoes stayed when you moved, there was black hair on the walls of the shower, there was God knows what in the freezer and fridge and the couch made you cringe and I sure wouldn't use a black light in the room. The front desk clerk was rude and refused to switch rooms or have housekeeping come and clean the room. Her response was well I can give you a refund and you can find someplace else to go. Apparently they don't like being called out on what needs to be cleaned or that they have nasty rooms

This place is like a mini apartment with kitchenette located in busy location with mall restaurants stores so everything is near and walking distance. Like any older type of motel/hotel there’s always the need for updating rooms outside fix this and that. If I was in the area again and needed a place I would stay again. Fresh paint, modern look, full kitchen, good heat (has only furnace) and big suite. A friendly man called me while I was on my way down state. He was friendly. I was shocked to learn that the front desk closes at 3 PM on a Saturday. Issues: Smoke Detector chirping for a new battery for the entire stay. Called the "emergency" number when we arrived about it. Told couldn't do anything about it then. Would send someone in the AM--they didn't. It chirped until we left at 10:45 am. No stop for the sink. How do you wash your dishes??? No plates, silverware, or cookware for the kitchen, which is okay if the description told you that. I come prepared for that, but noting that would help other travelers. The sliding closet doors are not on their railing, so they are just for looks, I guess? There isn't a single garbage can or garbage bage in the place. AND you have to take your garbage out to a dumpster by another building. WHO TRAVELS WITH GARGES BAGS/CANS??? Who books a room and does garbage detail?? I had high hopes when I entered the room. From the first chirp on, it was downhill from there.

This hotel seems sketchy. It is old and not well maintained. Many of the units are long term rentals. It was somewhat clean. Did not smell. But the furniture was horrendous. I couldn’t even bring myself to sit in it. There was minimal cutlery and plates. Two of things. Nothing to cook it serve with. The hot water sometimes worked, sometimes went ice cold, sometimes scalding. The toilet did not flush. I would not have started here at that price. I wanted a suite with a kitchen but did not feel comfortable cooking here. In the end I only slept here and it was ok. But couldn’t gotten far cheaper, cleaner and well maintained at many other hotels.

Very spacious, but no pots, dishes or anything to be able to cook in the kitchen. No coffee machine, no toaster. The bed is not queen size it is full size which is smaller. There were not extra linens or a thicker blanket. Also no hair drier, neither tissues. Basic things that hotels or even motels have, they didn't have. But t was a very spacious studio apartment.

For some reason our room was overbooked! Reservation was made weeks in advance, yet they didn't inform me of this situation until I was 1 hour away. I had to find other accommodations from my phone, on the side of the road. This was very inconvenient, and troubling. I will never book this establishment again!

We were almost there and our reservation was canceled. And we had to last min find another hotel for our anniversary. So heads up sat and Sunday you cant check in until one or AFTER 2. They close lobby. He said its on the website I looked everywhere its not. Poor customer service and my account was charged 2x so still waiting for 2 refunds, and had to pay for another place to stay. We were almost there and our reservation was canceled. And we had to last min find another hotel for our anniversary. So heads up sat and Sunday you cant check in until one or AFTER 2. They close lobby. He said its on the website I looked everywhere its not. Poor customer service and my account was charged 2x so still waiting for 2 refunds, and had to pay for another place to stay. Got a call that they canceled my reservation because my card didn’t go through. Called my bank and they said a charge was never even attempted. So I was left scrambling to find a hotel to stay at when I was half way there! There was a wait list and they had already given my room away. Who does that?

I chose the property because of it's proximity to shops/restaurants and the airport. It's very average and not worth the price I paid compared to other hotels I stayed at in the area. I had a few issues and the staff were accomodating and friendly, but not accessible other than by phone.

The property doesn’t have a 24 hour front desk. There is a number on the door that I called for check in - lady told me ‘she tried calling me many times’ and then just went ahead and canceled by reservation!!-( funny because I didn’t get any calls ). Multiple activities happening in town and I had to call many many hotels till finally I found a place. Travelled with young kids and almost was forced to turn around and drive all the way back because I did t want to spend the night on the street with kids . Awful .

I would not recommend as the property has VERY limited hours for check-in. Details on Expedia DOES NOT explain that the property is only open from 9am to 3-5pm. I would strongly advise against reserving this property for travelers with a schedule.

The room was great, however they close at 2:00 pm and have the keys in a lock box with a code that I never received, luckily there was a staff member that was still there and able to help me get it figured out

Wow. I guess the price is right, but this was the sketchiest place I've ever stayed. It was very clean, but that is the only plus. Rules given out upon arrival. That was a first. Not to worry, they weren't enforced. No blankets on the bed. 2 sheets. No plastic cup for the bathroom. I did not feel safe at all. There was a deadbolt but nothing for it to go into on the door jamb. There was a safety latch for what thats worth. First night I could smell 4 different types of pot. Second night it sounded like gunshots, but no sirens, so im not sure. I have never been in a place like this. The grounds were mowed, but weeds have overtaken the landscape, and everything else is crumbling. My recommendation is a hard pass. It was very clean though.

This place is like a mini apartment with kitchenette located in busy location with mall restaurants stores so everything is near and walking distance. Like any older type of motel/hotel there’s always the need for updating rooms outside fix this and that. If I was in the area again and needed a place I would stay again. Staff at front were pleasant

Honestly, I can’t believe that this facility is still in business. I was in their area for one night and did not realize that this is primarily an extended stay property. I did not feel safe where they put me which felt like it was back in an alley. The exterior of the facility is absolutely terrible. Rocks falling off the wall, overgrown broken fences rickety stairs. In the room, there was no soap. When I tried to call to ask about it, the phone didn’t work. The light in the bathroom didn’t work, there wasn’t a trashcan, the walls were chipped and filthy, and the curtain had clearly been torn apart by a cat. I used the facilities, grabbed my key and went back to the front desk. I told them I would not stay in that room given its condition. When I asked about the soap, I was told that because they are an extended stay facility they don’t provide soap! Perhaps they could put in a little 50 Cent bar of soap rooms for those customers who are clearly only staying one night! I had an appointment to get to so I couldn’t stay and talk with them, and was hoping that they wouldn’t charge me. But they did. Please see the pictures below. Absolutely the worst hotel experience I have ever had and I travel a lot.

We needed a place that would sleep 4 adults and 2 big dogs. Real close to places to eat and walk to Starbucks in the morning. Not a 5 star place but really fit our needs for a place to sleep while visiting the hospital for a protracted stay.

This hotel seems sketchy. It is old and not well maintained. Many of the units are long term rentals. It was somewhat clean. Did not smell. But the furniture was horrendous. I couldn’t even bring myself to sit in it. There was minimal cutlery and plates. Two of things. Nothing to cook it serve with. The hot water sometimes worked, sometimes went ice cold, sometimes scalding. The toilet did not flush. I would not have started here at that price. I wanted a suite with a kitchen but did not feel comfortable cooking here. In the end I only slept here and it was ok. But couldn’t gotten far cheaper, cleaner and well maintained at many other hotels.

Rough Property, Understanding Management 1) The Affordable Suites were more like ghetto housing projects than a half decent Inn. 2) The Management was very understanding and refunded our bill We booked a weeklong stay for "Affordable Suites of America Grand Rapids" six months in advance. The pictures online seemed nice and the reviews were okay. We arrived last week, the check in was fine, but as soon as we pulled away from the office, it was clear something was very wrong. The landscaping was neglected, the outside facilities were dirty and some rubbish was laying around. The other vehicles parked were all worn-out jalopies. We parked, and found a intravenous needle on the parking lot. The smell of waste, pot, trash, and human body odor was unmistakable in the air. The inside of the suite we booked was sticky everywhere. The floor was dirty and sticky, the shower was broken, the microwave was broken. There were patched and unpainted holes and dings everywhere on the walls. The front desk management was very understanding when we pointed these things out and we received a full refund. Thank you for that!

Suburban neighborhood with convenient gas, shops, and aromatic restaurants nearby. The price was right, only affordable lodging open in town that weekend, Not noisy; we slept well.

We stayed for 5 days but we ended early checkout at 4th day, because our tasks to our son done, unfortunately we did not get our refund but Angeline one of the front desk told me that next time we checked in, I will get a good deal, I will hold that message in future. During checking in, it was smooth as per Randy the general sales manager who personally assist us, he was knowledgeable and experienced. The place was nice and clean, we stayed in first floor that is okay but the second floor tenant was disturbing, marching hard and first night there is a family fighting like yelling. They really need a serious renovation with a good sound proof and new furniture. The place is old but still can gave a shelter to transient people or family for a short stay. Can be recommended, YES, it is very closed to all amenities - walking distance to two mall's and traders Joe and the hotel is along the highway. They have a good parking lot and great staff's. They have a pool but cannot be used, hopefully next time can be use. Randy said there is a plan for renovations that is good asset to the place, hoping they banned to smoke a marijuana in the place, some tenants didn't follow the rules that NO SMOKING IN FRONT OF ROOM but some still smoking. Hoping they will have 24 hours people walking around the facility. Plus hoping they will upgrade their card keys. Overall, we have stayed smooth although there is some floss but it is okay. My husband live the place and definitely we will .

Room smelled of Marijuana, fridge was leaking water all over the floor, our key cards kept messing up, we got locked out of our room due to key cars not working stood outside with our kids over 2 hours just to have someone let us in was ridiculous never have I ever had so much problems getting a hold of someone just to let us in or have as much trouble with key cards. Pool was closed off couldn't use that. Not worth the money. Staff and emergency staff very unfriendly definitely would not recommend!
