Comfort Inn Lakeside

Was nice lakeside view, but elevator was in the a different building, and if you take the stairs, there’s a lot of did bugs on the windows sill, the stairs were not clean, a cigarette butt was there for 2 days and still not removed.of course no room service, not even picking up th garbage. I give it 2-3 stars.

We stayed four nights. Location was great! Carpet seemed dirty otherwise room was ok. Pool and hot tub were dirty, did not use. Adjacent beach was littered and furniture was unkempt. Breakfast buffet had extremely limited options and was the same everyday.

Hotel was connected to another property making entry to rooms somewhat inconvenient.

This hotel is nicely located right in the beach. The only issue we had was their "elevator" was in the next connecting hotel as well as the free breakfast-on the third floor.

Close to downtown. Has a nice beach right behind it. The one pool ladder had a broken ring that spun around and it felt quite hazardous to use. Otherwise the pool area was clean and the whirlpool worked well. Access to the beach was through a short enclosed corridor that was dirty and scary.. Room was dark and air conditioner was loud!

Hot tub was tepid and pool was cool.

The room was clean, but i was disappointed because lights weren't working room to dark....the bathrub function was terrible werent able to use it, and thats one of the things i was looking forward since i might not have the oportunity to get in the pool. The pool was closed 😫 and no one paying attention to it ..it was just a place to sleep and thats alll

Property was clean could use some updates lots of cobwebs everywhere. The property has a walkway to the beach which was a disaster, dirty and abandoned. It looked like it was a place maybe they use to serve continental breakfast but they did nothing with it. They could clean it up take the doors off and make it a breezeway or something. We didn’t like that the lobby was closed and no one was there till 7am and we had to go to next hotel for coffee and breakfast The private beach could use some maintenance and organizing the tables and chairs as well as the little picnic area (deck) with tables was full of spiders and cobwebs. All in all was a convenient place to stay for the downtown area quick walk to everywhere the staff (cleaning people) were very pleasant and helpful when we needed supplies

The hotel was nice and in a great location. Loved sitting out on the balcony overlooking the water. Beds were super comfortable. The only negatives were the lack of an elevator, you had to go to the hotel next door to use their elevator, and with neuropathy, it was hard doing the stairs. Also, when we were down to the last couple of towels, I pulled one and there was an old pizza napkin in between the clean towels, so apparently, they hadn't been changed out when the room was previously cleaned. Otherwise, our stay was pleasant.

The room we got looks like it hasn’t been occupied in a long time and never been cleaned again since. Corners are dirty, carpet is dusty and has a musty smell.

The hotel is in a great location on Lake Huron. The rooms were fairly clean and quiet, however the lobby, exterior and beach area were not clean.

Check in was great but the room was not clean, jacuzzi tub was broke, there was a spider in the tub, change still on the floor and the blacket had blood stains. We had our own blankets from home luckily that we were able to use. Very disappointed and complete waste of our money, just sad as it was a trip with my child that had to stay in this room too.

Staff at check-in was great! Surfaces in room were sticky and there was visible dust in the AC unit. Carpets in the room were stained. Room was noisy. Water temperature in shower fluctuated between hot and cold with no adjustment. Staff at checkout was rude.

The instant I walked into the room I was disappointed. I was overwhelmed by a musty smell. It was obvious that the cleaning that had been done is bare minimum. It was very grimy. The pool was very hazy as well. There was continental breakfast but we had to go next door to another hotel to get it.

Although the staff and lakeside view were awesome the rooms and bathrooms were not clean enough. There was a lot of insects like mosquitos and spiders inside the frame of the pictures hanging on the wall, rugs were dirty, bathrooms had hair left.

Room was nasty! There was bloody stains on the sheets. The bathroom was disgusting.

Clean, comfortable, good amenities

Very clean, right on the beach. Close to the ferry to Mackinac Island. Lots of restaurants and souvenir shops near by.

Was disappointed that the room had many bugs in it as well as cobwebs in the bathroom. One of the bath towels had stains all over it. Perhaps it should be thrown out if stains don’t come out. The lighting was dim. Light fixture over sink was missing a bulb and one was dull.

The room was nice with a lovely little balcony that overlooked the lake. Reasonably priced with lots of dining and shopping options within walking distance. The one area needing improvement was the breakfast which was mediocre at best. The eggs were awful! Absolutely no flavor and the pancakes were tough.

For the most part staff was excellent. Room was decent. Coffee maker in our room was faulty. Had to hold cord just right or it didn't work. Coffee was tasteless like tea. The rest of our stay was fine other than ignorant guests. Left a day early because I couldn't enjoy my balcony (that you pay extra for) because of the ignorance of other guests. Throwing rocks at birds and our balcony (ground floor). My 84 year old mother was uncomfortable. I do understand it's not the motels fault but no matter what we said the father wouldn't stop them, he actually encouraged the 2 teenage girls. Shouldn't always rate the staff, something needs to be done about ignorant guests!!

Although not my usual lodging, I have stayed at some other Choice Hotels at other vacation destinations and found them acceptable to good. I kept my dislike for this property to myself, but other guests I would encounter in the parking lot volunteered issues like noisy rooms (you could hear people talking and their televisions in the adjacent rooms), wonky wi-fi, bizarre situation where the adjacent hotel (Hamilton Inn) connected to this property and you needed to drive through the common parking lot to use the elevator if you were on the second or third floor and use a common floor connection to transport luggage (unless you wanted to carry luggage up stairwells). The other guests complained that the front office staff were not helpful. I can personally confirm that. When I went to the office to ask for help to use the wi-fi the staff woman told me to use another wi-fi option. She was defensive and said they tell all the guests that at registration, but we weren't told that, and she wasn't there at the time. All the staff we encountered were from Jamaica - friendly but possibly the source of some misunderstandings. Ditto for the policy not to do room service unless requested. That is becoming standard for many hotels, but other properties have the information in the room. Instead, they have a sign on the counter, that is easily missed (and we did). The free breakfast options were very limited and not appealing so we chose to eat at nearby restaurants. Overpriced property!

Room was dark & needed updating. The toilet seat wasn’t fastened properly. It was fixed the next day. Shampoo bottles were too small.

This property and rooms need maintenance. In our room the tv did not work well, a lightbulb was out over the bathroom vanity, the peephole in the door was stuffed with paper, there was no microwave, and so on. The lake area needed cleaning, raking, removal of some large rocks. The rooms were noisy - kids running in the halls, plumbing from neighboring rooms and voices were easily heard. And guests in another room were feeding the gulls, which was noisy and dirty.

Outstanding location with comfortable beds, ok breakfast, and ok service.

Loved the view

The water temperature in the shower rotated between freezing cold and scalding hot. It could not be regulated. The sink faucet was very hard to turn off. The room definitely needs updated, if not, then a good cleaning.

The property was great. It could have been cleaner. No place to hang clothes and remote for TV did not work .

Good rooms and great view in the lakeside rooms. poor service and cleanliness around the property. Borderline rude staff at the front desk. Apparently, there are only a couple of people operating the property at the same time. Save yourself some embarrassment and go to the nearby Hamilton Inn or Best Western

The front desk staff was exceptional. We came in late and he was cordial and friendly. Bery clean rooms, great view. Will definately be back.

Older motel that isn’t cared for. No house keeping! When I asked about the room not being cleaned, was told “we don’t do that anymore more.” Breakfast was bad in every way. Skip it .Nothing good to say.

Who ever works at the front disk They r so rude U can’t even ask any questions or for any help And the charge me twice for the room

Property was close to town and had a nice view. One thing I did not like- our smoke alarm started beeping in the early morning because the battery was dead. I had to get up and disconnect it and then pull the battery out. Very annoying. When I checked out later that day, I brought the smoke alarm to the front desk and explained what happened. No apology, no nothing. Just took the alarm from me and said "Thanks!" The property could certainly use some maintenance. The room was clean as well as the linens.

We stayed for 3 nights at this property with a large group and reserved two separate rooms. Our stay was “fine” the rooms were generally clean, albeit dated as mentioned in other reviews. This property, is in pretty rough shape. We had torrential rain while we were there and the gutters were all overflowing signaling a drainage problem. This was later confirmed when water came into one of the rooms that we were staying in. The front desk staff quickly dispatched the handyman to fix the ceiling and tried to get us to keep the same room which we refused. Clearly the water problem would not be fixed with a patch on the ceiling, and we did not want to risk getting hurt when the “fix” got wet again. The front desk staff was not apologetic for the situation, in fact they were upset that we asked to switch rooms and had a pretty bad attitude about the whole situation. Overall, if you’re looking for a conveniently located place to lay your head, this place may suffice, but I personally won’t be staying here again.

Great value. Great spot, easy and walking distance from town. Decent beds and pillows. Staff was friendly, efficient, and virtually unseen.

Great beach front property. We watched the fireworks from our balcony off the water!

A very nice hotel, walkable to the downtown area shops and restaurants. Nearby hiking was easily accessible.

Only difficulty was information on the layout of the property. Direction on getting to elevators was vague. They are actually located in the a joining hotel. The breakfast buffet (if you can call it that) is also in the other hotel. Buffet was pretty mediocre at best. Also couldn’t find any luggage cart, might be a problem for older guest

It’s a nice hotel. The room was very clean. I could smell the cleaning products when I opened the door. The Lakeview room was nice. The one thing I didn’t like was the breakfast area. It’s self serve and people had kids in there touching the food etc. I ended up not eating. I went across to a restaurant to eat. I’d suggest having staff serve the food. I was grossed out by someone’s kid touching the pancakes and licking their hand

While this property needs updating, it is convenient, comfortable, safe, and a very friendly staff. This property is close to everything in Mackinaw City. Breakfast is included in the hotel next door. Pool was a plus. Would stay there again.

We didn’t like that they have combined 2 hotels now during breakfast time , which is from 7:30am to 9:0am It’s so overcrowded and you have to stay in long lines to wait to get coffee or food. They used to have it downstairs on the first floor and it was an easy access to the beach , so you can sit outside and have your breakfast . It is located on the third floor and we had to go the other hotel building every morning just to have that breakfast .
