The rooms were nice and well decorated, only detriment was the lack of a door to separate the toilet from the wash basin. The worst thing was the valet parking. The staff was great and helpful but once I had to wait 1 and 1/2 hours and it made us miss the performances at the clef jazz club.

Nice hotel. Close to restaurants and sights in Philly. Great workout room and the staff was nice and helpful. Rooms were big and clean. A lot nicer than a turn key Marriott.

Upon late night arrival, front desk was grumpy and not helpful. We were not notified of $15/day credit for cafe, so how were we supposed to use it. Seems shady. No work area for printing or scan documents. There was an email provided for this, yet front desk was never able to print the documents. We were sent to neighboring Marriott, who also could not help us. That should be a standard amenity for this type of hotel. Hotel was clean, daytime desk staff was kind and helpful, and location was good

Valet parking needs attention. At 6:45 AM on Sunday it was a 20 minute wait. Friends of ours who tried to leave at 10:30 were held hostage for 1 hour to get their car. That is a massive flaw and will make me not return there.

I will start with something nice - The hotel is pretty. On the night of our arrival, it was hosting a prom. There were 20 cars waiting to be parked. The students were loud and overwhelming. We could not get a valet to take our car, even though we were overnight guests. We finally had to pay a $50 tip to the valet to get our car parked. Thereafter, when we wanted to use our car, the valet(s) told us the wait was an hour. When I spoke with the front desk, I was told that the hotel warns its guests (on the parking ticket for your car) that it can take 20-30 minutes for the valet to retrieve your vehicle. In our case, it was even longer. If I had known this, I would not have stayed at the hotel and/or rented a car. Throughout the weekend, in order to get our car, we had to bribe the valets with very generous tips (it still took between 30-45 minutes to get our car). This is a racket! I am so disappointed. P.S. The hotel charges $65.00 for parking. I emailed the hotel manager about my concerns. He did not respond.

Great location and lovely room with nice view or the square. Friendly staff at check in and at the bar. Where I went wrong was valet parking. It took a full hour from when I requested my car to when it arrived at the front. They warn it takes 30 minutes so if staying here just park your car yourself.

Very very nice ! Thank you front desk and bar staff. The valet service was subpar at best. Car was parked on the street overnight and wasn't pulled up. To top it off certain articles in the car were moved for no reason.

The building and the theme is beautiful, and the staff was super helpful and nice. I just was not impressed by the room at all. There were stains all over the bathroom walls, some looked permanent and others looked like grease, and my white socks turned brown walking on the carpet. I honestly blame the fact that it is a corporate owned property, not the housekeeping staff - they are very lovely and helpful. Just wanted more for how expensive it can be!

Three night stay over a weekend, family trip. Two adults and two teens. The hotel was packed due to multiple events in town (Club World Cup, New Balance Outdoor Track Nationals, Lacrosse tournament, Phillies home game, and summer vacations). Room was mostly comfortable to be in over the stay. The beds left something to be desired with mildly uncomfortable spring mattresses. Bathroom was nice size but cleaning crew missed cleaning the shower area thoroughly (a bit of hair still on shower wall). Nothing to ruin the trip. Location is perfect and right in the middle of center city with public transportation across the street and most historical attractions within a short walk.

A wonderful hotel in the middle of downtown Philadelphia. Rooms were clean and spacious. The bathroom was also large, with a nice multi function showerhead/wand combo. Housekeeping was attentive without being intrusive. The valet can get busy/backed up certain times of the day, so plan in advance and give them a heads up if you are checking out. The hotel has a great ambiance and is uniquely decorated consistent with the building's original use, with sculptures made of books and library reading tables in the lobby. The rooms are very comfortable. The neighborhood is very walkable, though a little sketchy at night. The staff is very helpful and pleasant. I do agree with another reviewer that ther rooms could be better insulated from noise. We would stay here again.

The Notary is an absolutely stunning hotel. It’s right across the street from the Philadelphia City Hall. This is my second time staying at this hotel and I keep coming back for a reason. It’s safe, beautiful, and cozy.

The Notary Hotel was super conveniently located, and just a really wonderful stay. Reading Market is right around the corner for a large variety of food, drink, and provisions. The historic property is beautiful, and the rooms are well appointed, with no shortage of comfort. View of City Hall was a plus!

The property is very clean and nice and neat but the bed is not good at all. We couldn’t even rest because it is like a hot dog, you make a hole in the middle of it.

I loved our stay here. I was amazed that we were able to do check in as early as 8:30 am. This saved us so much time and energy. Definitely appreciated! Staff were helpful. Location is very convenient for us. Room is very clean and nice. Bathroom is very clean and spacious! Mirror locations were perfect. I would prefer additional lighting from the ceiling since natural lighting is lacking due to large buildings surrounding the rooms. An extra outlet near the TV where the coffee maker would be nice too.

The bathroom door is a “barn” door style and therefore doesn’t give enough privacy when closed. Also there is no door between the sink area and the shower area which makes it difficult when 2 people are trying to get ready at the same time. Finally it took over an hour to get our car from the valet. For the cost of this hotel I would expect much more.

Disappointed. The staff needs training. Valet was "on a break" we were told when we arrived. Waited for 10 minutes to have our car parked. The porter never moved to help us with our luggage, so we managed ourselves. Check-in was fine, but we were not told how to access the elevator-which is confusing. After not stopping on or floor, a passenger we picked-up explained the procedure and commented they were not told by check-in staff, either. We then went to the restaurant and again although it was fine, it was not professional. We were seated with no menus. We then realized there was a QR code on the table. We couldn't get it t download. Had to search for a server. When they brought over the menu, it was filthy--covered.in food! After having a look at it, we decided what to order. Ordered with server, who then informed us the paper menu is probably not up to date, so they may not have what we want. Crazy. The staff needs to be tried in etiquette and service. Really lacking in any type of professionalism especially at a hotel which deems itself 4.4 stars.

Disappointed. The staff needs training. Valet was "on a break" we were told when we arrived. Waited for 10 minutes to have our car parked. The porter never moved to help us with our luggage, so we managed ourselves. Check-in was fine, but we were not told how to access the elevator-which is confusing. After not stopping on or floor, a passenger we picked-up explained the procedure and commented they were not told by check-in staff, either. We then went to the restaurant and again although it was fine, it was not professional. We were seated with no menus. We then realized there was a QR code on the table. We couldn't get it t download. Had to search for a server. When they brought over the menu, it was filthy--covered.in food! After having a look at it, we decided what to order. Ordered with server, who then informed us the paper menu is probably not up to date, so they may not have what we want. Crazy. The staff needs to be tried in etiquette and service. Really lacking in any type of professionalism especially at a hotel which deems itself 4.4 stars.

The location was super convenient. One thing I want to note was some unprofessional front desk staff. The lady did not tell us anything about the food and beverage credit, nor did she mention about the uber credit. We found out through the message sent from Expedia. We later asked another staff about the uber credit and left our email. I waited over 6 hours to get the uber voucher. This was not acceptable. The next day, I asked about the second uber voucher. This time the front desk lady Ming was extremely efficient and kind. I received the voucher right away. Please train the other staffs as this was such a simple thing.

Staff went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. When we realized my wife needed a phone charger. The front desk staff found one for us to use. The valet was great and accommodating to our needs. The restaurant staff provided great advice about travel within the city that saved us significant time and money. Can’t say enough good things about our 2 night stay.

I will start with something nice - The hotel is pretty. On the night of our arrival, it was hosting a prom. There were 20 cars waiting to be parked. The students were loud and overwhelming. We could not get a valet to take our car, even though we were overnight guests. We finally had to pay a $50 tip to the valet to get our car parked. Thereafter, when we wanted to use our car, the valet(s) told us the wait was an hour. When I spoke with the front desk, I was told that the hotel warns its guests (on the parking ticket for your car) that it can take 20-30 minutes for the valet to retrieve your vehicle. In our case, it was even longer. If I had known this, I would not have stayed at the hotel and/or rented a car. Throughout the weekend, in order to get our car, we had to bribe the valets with very generous tips (it still took between 30-45 minutes to get our car). This is a racket! I am so disappointed. P.S. The hotel charges $65.00 for parking. I emailed the hotel manager about my concerns. He did not respond.

The Notary Hotel was super conveniently located, and just a really wonderful stay. Reading Market is right around the corner for a large variety of food, drink, and provisions. The historic property is beautiful, and the rooms are well appointed, with no shortage of comfort. View of City Hall was a plus!

I liked the art work, the room was comfortable, the furnishings were unique and the location was perfect. We never went to the restaurant but looked at the menu and we were not impressed. With the Terminal Reading Market so close with such incredible food choices you have to do better. The staff were OK.

We loved the Notary! The room was clean and modern. The one thing I would say its the toiletries were outdated. However the convenience, location and the quietness in the room is perfect. Valet parking is an option but you can self park and its much cheaper. The breakfast options were limited and the espresso machine was broken the time we went but the regular coffee was delicious. Their cocktails were amazing! Bathrooms were clean and great customers service.

The location of The Notary is excellent and convenient. The staff was mostly excellent; the only exception being the valet was somewhat rude to my husband when we checked out. Unfortunate since we are normally excellent tippers. The coffee maker in the room didn't work very well but we just got our coffee downstairs at the wonderful coffee shop. The bar was great and had friendly bartenders. The restaurant was decent. The staff was super helpful with local info and how to get around.

Very nice hotel. I was a bit annoyed that there is a mandatory $30 fee which in turn gives you a $30 credit to buy things at the hotel - seems like they are just looking for more ways to add extra charges. Otherwise great place to stay right near Redding market.

Gorgeous architecture, clean lobby, elevators and rooms. Friendly staff and valets. Comfy beds with layers of linens. Temperature control was excellent within the room. Our TV didn’t work (not that we needed it to but it would have been useful to keep the kids busy while packing or getting ready) nor did the safety box. Bathroom was compact with roomy shower with rainwater style shower head or handheld shower unit. Shampoo, conditioner, soap, lotion and makeup wipes were provided. The hotel is very conveniently located to explore sightseeing area within Philadelphia. Would stay here again.
