Red Roof Inn Raleigh Northeast - Downtown

Good deal for the money. Pretty sketchy across the street though. But they have plenty of security cameras

i had a frig, microwave, cold a/c, and hot water which set me off to a good start. i understand the some rooms were under reno, and other older ones, such as mine were in need of. still, better than some other places ive stayed or seen. i noticed 2 small bugs in the room, but that was it. the attendant on duty, was very very laidback, but managed to issue a room key everytime needed when i had issues with the door lock. location is great for food. mcdonalds, subway, dominoes, burger king, gas stations (with alcohol) just feet from the hotel. there were transient people walking around, loitering on/off property engaging in transient people things, some also were staying at the hotel. no problems though. they kept to themselves and were no bother, esp with me being from dc. for proximity to the city, and convenience, i give it a solid 3.5 stay.

I don’t have anything nice to say about this place. There were vagrants and prostitutes hanging out right by the parking lot. One of them even followed me to my room. Fortunately I was able to get inside and lock the door in time. The elevator smelled like urine. Each room has a no smoking sign on the door, but it’s obvious that the previous guest (or guests) was smoking in the room anyway. I haven’t smoked a cigarette in years, and yet and when I got home, it took a few days for my suitcase to lose the cigarette smell. That’s how strong it was. In fact, as I was packing to leave, I noticed that somebody had burned the bedspread with a cigarette. And, in the bathtub, I noticed a half inch gap between the faucet and the wall. That’s a mold problem waiting to happen, if there isn’t mold already. Bottom line is, I do not recommend this place at all.

The room was clean and the staff was very nice. However, the sheets and bedspread had cigarette burned holes in them. The ice bucket also had cigarette burns in the bottom of it. There was no remote to change the TV, you had to do it by hand. The phone that was on the bedside table had no cord so you could not call the front desk or God forbid 911. They only had 1 ice machine working and the other ones were unplugged. It was the same for the vending machines. I'm just grateful that there was no bedbugs or roaches there. We slept well and the staff were so kind.

The website pictures looked completely different than it looked in person! It was just awful. The parking was limited on one side. Just not enough spaces. And the people hanging out around the place (they probably had rooms) were very unnerving. The place was very run down and way overdue for upgrades. I can’t believe they charge what they do!! I would not have paid $10, let alone $70!!! I barely slept as I was really uncomfortable. The hotel room itself was seriously in need of repairs and upgrades. There was an ice machine that was busted and dirty in the walkway to the stairs and a pop machine that looked like it hasn’t worked in 20 years!! Why they are still sitting there is anybody’s guess! The ONE AND ONLY GOOD THING I can say about the place is the African American woman behind the counter was so incredibly nice, helpful and kind!!! She was the highlight of my one night stay. I would NEVER stay there again, even if the place was FREE!!!

The staff was friendly, helpful and patient. However, the area is definitely not a safe environment. There was a drug addict passed out in the parking lot of the hotel and his girlfriend was yelling at no one. They also have an elevator but it was dirty and smelled. Not to mention the corridor smelled of marijuana. The room was decent but I was missing a vanity mirror, the TV had 8 dots in the led screen and the door was questionable. I wouldn’t stay there again.

The check in was easy.. I still have yet to receive my deposit back. One of the beds had dirty stained sheets, I couldn’t get any fresh ones until the next day. We stayed Thursday night - Monday morning and no one came to clean. We got towels and fresh blankets after asking multiple times. Parking was convenient for our visit and it was close to where we had to go so it was an easy pick but will not be staying here again.

I got a kitchen, but I would’ve had to buy an induction pot set for $80 so I ended up just cooking my eggs in the microwave. There was a sheet & a very thin sheet, like bed covering nothing like a blanket.( I had read that)The bed was very comfy The pillows were very comfortable. They were clean enough. One did have a cigarette burn, but I don’t expect that they catch that all the time the room itself was clean. The bathroom was renovated. You can tell that the walls were still the old ones. They did not redo, It had a fridge or microwave working sink and odd layout where there was no mirror anywhere in the bathroom just a large mirror in the corner of the room, there was a table with two chairs. The TV had some bright lights bulbs coming out of it. It may have been slightly broken. I overlooked that The elevator looked a little old and dirty. You need a key card to go up. There were people smoking marijuana at different times and I suspect that people are either living there long-term or possibly staying there. You could see people hanging out at night during the work week. Mon-Thur there were a lot of work vans. I had a 6 day stay and I checked out a day early because I had alternative lodging as a woman by myself the room s was in the back of the hotel, although they do have cameras. I did not feel calm going up Cheap but not again. I am not sure how anyone gave this place a 10!

So, when me and my friend originally checked in they were nice. The room though had cigarette burns in the sheets, there were roaches, they ran out of towels, none of the ice machines worked either. When we were working on getting our the stuff out of the room one of the staff stopped us and made us go back to our room and wanted to pull everything out of our room. They were complaining rude and not understanding us or even listening to us. They were rude and inconsiderate claiming that they need the room for other people when there were rooms that were already empty. Not only that you literally had to use your whole just to shut the door. Also, it was clear that the most of the staff were illegal's.

The outdoor elevators smell strongly of urine. The room has no chest of drawers. The entrance way to the motel is populated by unsavory characters. The police we at the hotel 3 times, enforce, during my 4 day stay.

It was roaches everywhere!!. Could not sit your food down or they will attack it. And the worst part was they were also in the bed...😡😡😡

Roaches, torn bed sheets and curtains, ROACHES, burn marks on the bath tub and just overall DIRTY. I went right back to the lobby for a refund. The manager was not there at the time since I checked in at night. The next morning I called and the Hispanic/Indian receptionist was very rude and claimed the manager was not there. The day after that, same thing and she told me to call the police and hung up in my face. & I did just that. When the police and I got there the manager was magically there and the lady was not popping it like she was on the phone and I got my refund back. The officer said he was at the same hotel multiple times that day.

The price should say it all, but even if you think it’s a good deal, it’s not. The area is dirty and dingy. There’s homeless all around, the rooms reeked of smoke and the sheets had cigarette burns. just pay the extra money and stay at a nicer hotel.

I had a horrible stay. There were roaches and other bugs. I did not feel safe staying there at all there were a bunch of homeless people outside. Also the phone in the room did not have buttons nor was plugged up or connected at all. The bathroom was obviously not cleaned either because there was hair.

I will caveat this review by saying, I knew I was paying a very low price for these accommodations. I wasn't expecting luxury, just a simple place to rest my head at the end of the day. That being said, I walked into my room to a cockroach scurrying across the floor which I promptly had to kill. The whole room smelled like cigarettes and weed, and there were burn marks on EVERYTHING (bed sheets, bathtub, furniture). Small point, but there were no toiletries provided - I had to buy my own shampoo conditioner, and hand soap. I never felt unsafe (though there did appear to be a homeless encampment across the street), but if I had the choice to stay here again, I would pay the extra money to stay at a different hotel.

The room was spotless, modern, and very comfortable. The bed was cozy, the bathroom was well-maintained, and everything felt fresh and inviting

Good value for the price. Recently remodeled rooms look great and feel comfortable. Location is convenient—within walking distance to food spots. Check-in area can get a bit crowded. Felt safe, and traffic wasn’t bad. Bonus: USB outlets came in handy when I forgot my charger.

Absolutely do not recommend staying here. We booked a stay 6/20/25, checking out 6/23/25 through Expedia.The morning of 6/21/25, we called the front desk and let them know the door was extremely difficult to open and close, and they said they would let maintenance know(we have two young children and this was not just a inconvenience but a safety issue). We also requested housekeeping and was told they do housekeeping everyday so we were all set. Also requested extra towels and washcloths,as there wasn't enough for the 4 people (all were on the reservation) in the room. When we came back the night of 6/21, we discovered that none of the issues brought up to the front desk were taken care of. The door was still extremely hard to open and close, room wasn't clean, no clean towels. Went to front desk and the woman at the front desk said there was no maintenance, no housekeeping but she could give us a few towels after we bring the dirty ones( one of the clean ones she gave was dirty). We left and went to another hotel because of the door issue, and only stayed 1 of the 3 nights. Requested a refund for the 2 nights we didn't stay and they refused because they claimed we didn't bring up issues(this is a lie, as we brought up the morning of 6/21). Then they tried say ok then it's denied because they offered another room(another lie, we were not).

have stayed a total of about 4 times, since being renovated as well. decent room. fridge and microwave. door was a lil hard to close. would have been a 5 if it wasnt for this.

There was a lot of people sitting outside of their room, in the corridor. That sorta gives off the wrong vibe. No elevator.. & the TV didn't even work in my room #439

I’ve stayed at this Red Roof Inn several times, and it’s always a great experience. The staff are super friendly and always willing to help with whatever you need. The rooms are consistently clean, and now they’re doing some renovations that look amazing. The new color schemes are really nice, and they’re switching out the old carpets for hardwood-style vinyl flooring—no more gross carpets, which is a big win. On our last visit, the AC wasn’t working too well the first night. I called the front desk, and maintenance came right away. Turns out it was freezing up, so the guy went and grabbed a new unit and replaced it right then and there. Problem solved. Highly recommend this spot—it’s easily one of the best Red Roof Inns I’ve stayed at.

Staff is excellent in meeting your needs

The room and facilities were very clean, and the front desk service was excellent. I had a food delivery arrive before I got there, and the staff kindly held it for me until I checked in. Really appreciated the helpful and accommodating service!

I booked this hotel over a month in advance and was told 3 hours before check in that my reservation was cancelled due to not putting down a deposit despite my contract stating that no payment was due until arrival at the property. Unreliable, rude, and inconsiderate

Unsafe hotel. We booked without knowing how the area looks like. We just turned around and booked another hotel. We need to rest and not be worried the whole night if we will have our truck parked outside or not.

This place was so bad we decided to lose our money and go somewhere else. Homeless camps on 2 sides of the property, drug deals going on in the back, and prostitutes/drug addicts hanging around on the steps & common ares. Very scary and unsafe.

The area is not safe. As soon as I walked in to check in there was a crackhead at the front desk. I did not feel comfortable staying there as a woman traveling alone with my child

Upon arrival the lady at the front desk was nice for the most part. The outside of the hotel is very scary at night! Zombies & and Prostitutes everywhere! I booked this hotel by mistake, I wanted to stay at the Red Roof in on S. Saunders St. The inside of the room was surprisingly DECENT. Very clean and comfortable. Will I book again? NO 😃

This was a horrible property! I didn’t even stay here and they wouldn't refund my trip and I never even checked in because there was prostitution and drug dealing going on right outside of the hotel! Gun shots on the doors! I didn’t even feel comfortable pulling up to the property!

The lication has safety issues. Its old and the pictures are from at least 20 years ago. The rooms had torn linen on the bed and there were bugs on the bedding and all around the room. Thisbis mot a place for single womens especially because thebsurroundings are unsafe.

The room was nothing like the pictures posted online. Rundown. Holes patched all over. Toilet seat broken. Non smoking room was def a smoking room. Burn marks all over bathtub. Cockroaches! Elevator smelled of strong urine and when I asked why..stated the homeless come in the elevators and urinate! Homeless people and prostitutes all over the yard and across the street. Very filthy surroundings. No breakfast. Barely could get towels. Asked for a credit due to the disgusting motel.. manager literally said well you ARE only paying $50 per night. He was extremely rude and disrespectful. Oh and dirty needles near the walkways!!! Health dept needs to be contacted and NO ONE should be residibthere.

Had a great 7-day stay during a business trip to Sanford Friendly staff, clean and spacious rooms, and a great location near restaurant. Highly recommend!
