It is an updated hotel with modern facilities in a good area with a lot of attractions within walking distance. I can't find anything wrong with it. The area is very busy, so it is hard to hail taxis at good rate (they all decline Uber & Bitaksi rates and tell you astronomically high rates). But the front desk can arrange taxis for a very reasonable rates. I urge everyone to take taxis arranged by them instead of doing it on your own.

Great experience at Carina Gold. The area is safe and close to the tramway station, the staff are very friendly and helpful, the facilities are excellent, the rooms are very clean, and the smell is exceptional. We will definitely come back again when in Sultanahmet.

Lovely hotel right in the heart of the old city. Very friendly staff and clean comfortable rooms. Walkable to the Blue Mosque and Spice Market. Breakfast was a delicious Turkish spread. Only downside is very limited parking and it takes a while to get there from the airport as the roads are narrow so plan accordingly with your taxi driver. Lovely stay and plan to return for longer!

Stay was overall okay . First day we arrived check in was great . We felt welcomed . We had booked five rooms for 4 days . The only thing I noticed is housekeeping doesn’t really clean bathroom just stocks items and air freshens room . Linen can be changed upon request . Breakfast is average . Not bad for family stay .

We loved our stay at this hotel. It was very clean and spacious. The breakfast was great and the location was excellent, just a short walk from the main attractions and the tram stop is very close. What made is extra special was the staff! They were all very professional, had excellent recommendations and went out of their way to assist us with whatever we needed. We will definitely be returning.

Ideal location to explore the city. Friendly, efficient service from booking to check out. Hotel contacted us immediately after booking to offer airport transfer and booking of tours etc. Room was clean and spacious, view of a wall so kept the light curtain drawn. Very firm mattress which might not suit all. Shower was efficient, sadly towels were changed every day so not very eco friendly. A reasonable choice for breakfast, not necessarily to out taste but good selection and presented nicely. Return airport transfer was 110 euros

I would have rated a 5 star except for pillows that are too hard and internet that kept logging out. The room was very clean and the staff was very helpful and friendly. The location was awesome with a lot in walking distance.

The location was excellent and staff helpful. The ‘superior’ room allocated for our 4 night stay (211) was very small with room for only 1 armchair. After the first night we questioned the room category and were moved to a ‘more superior’ room (315) which matched the photos listed and was as we expected when we booked. Bathroom noises can be heard from next room but we have no hesitation recommending and would not hesitate to stay again.

Recently stayed for 4 nights with my family. Location is amazing in the heart of sultanhamet. Rooms were squeaky clean, and staff were always pleasant and courteous. A downside was I had a brick wall outside my window and the walls are not so soundproof, for me it wasnt much of an issue as we spent the whole day out and only came back to sleep and rest. The staff and their customer service really makes up for any shortfalls. A special Thank You to Burhan, amazing customer service skills I felt like I was in a 5* environment from check in to check out, he was extremely attentive and made us feel welcomed. Will definitely stay at carina gold again.

The room was clean and the bed was comfortable (although the waterproof mattress pad was not comfortable!). Great staff, very helpful. Very nice breakfast, and housekeeping was also good. I thought it would be more quiet at night but if you’re on the street side, there is noisy traffic all night so I recommend asking for a room on the side of the hotel away from the street.

Location is great! The rooms were a good value. A/C, plenty of hot water and good pressure. Our mattress was on the firm side, pillows could be better. The hotel caters mostly to a national clientele and other than at the front desk, communication with the staff can be interesting. They are very nice though. The breakfast was excellent. I would recommend it as a good value hotel.

Amenities in room were nice but no bar soap. Could not get AC to work so I slept 2 nights with window open. Front desk booked half day tour for a Friday and cancelled/moved reservation from morning to afternoon. Messed up my tight two day schedule.

We stayed at Carina Gold Hotel. We had 2 rooms for 8 people. Room 109 & 309 We were greeted by reception staff with the most welcoming smiles. Halil was so funny and gave us so much information about how we could spend our time in Istanbul. Staff took us to our rooms and signed us into hotel WI-FI, which was a nice touch. In the morning, Halil was kind enough to give us a IstanbulKart to use during our stay. One card could be used for 8 of us. This was very much appreciated by us all. Breakfast was lovely with a nice variety of items, if you would like omelette, you just need to ask staff who will happily provide this. The hotel was very clean and room cleaning was done everyday, staff smiling always. Location of hotel is perfect, near Tram line T1 (Cemberlitas) 2 min walk. 5 min walk to Grand Bazaar 5 min walk to Blue mosque and Hagia Sofia Mosque Fast food restaurant, good for kids. On our last day, we were able to keep 1 room with late check out 8pm at a small fee. On our last day, our taxi was running late. Enis Atis came up to me and requested I call taxi firm and he would speak in Turkish and ensured there was no language barriers. This helped ease my anxiety. He then helped our group of 8 to get all luggages onto the taxi. Carina staff went above and beyond, we are so grateful to everyone at this amazing hotel. InshaAllah we will soon be back.

The Carina Gold Hotel is a treasure; what a wonderful experience we had while staying there for five nights. Excellent is an understatement; superb, exceptional, beyond expectation is a better description. However, three gentlemen we had the most contact with, we even know by their names. Enes, who checked us in, and Halil, also working at the Reception, who explained to us the best way to get around in this beautiful city. One person at the Carina Gold Hotel definitely deserves a gold medal, so to speak, and this gentleman is Mr. Salih Nasan, the Front Office Manager. Salih for sure is the best of the best; highly intelligent, knowledgeable, experienced, efficient, and, naturally, very friendly and helpful. For everything Salih has done for us we are grateful, all his help is very much appreciated. For anyone interested in travelling to Istanbul, we would like to recommend to book a room at the Carina Gold Hotel; and we too, no doubt about that, will return to this lovely place, to once again get treated so well. I booked this hotel for a week. In the morning when we were supposed to fly to Istanbul, my husband all over sudden got so ill. He vomited many times and couldn’t stand still. Around that time, we were already at the airport. BA had to pull off our luggage from the flight. Later, the doctor issued ‘not fit to fly’ note and requested my husband to isolate himself for 3 days. My husband was diagnosed with gastroenteritis which is an infectious disease. I contacted BA and the Carina hotel on the same day. BA didn’t give me any hard time and rescheduled our flights free of charge. I contacted the Carina hotel and explained my husband’s condition and specifically told the hotel front office manager that if my husband got on the flight, he could make other passengers sick. I asked the hotel manager if she could give us a year to reschedule and she refused. We have travelled over 70 countries and we know for a fact that under this circumstance, hotels usually give guests a year to reschedule. No, not this hotel. The hotel manager just simply told me to speak to Expedia. I contacted Expedia, Expedia agents agreed that under this circumstance, We should be able to get full refund or at least reschedule. Expedia agents contacted the hotel many times on our behalf, the hotel is being evasive and not responding to expedia's emails and phone calls. Expedia agents told me that they put "unreachable" in this hotel's file after numerous attempts to contact this hotel.

Hotel was clean, was in a wonderful location, and the staff was helpful (although English challenged). Hotel was quiet and very clean. Surrounded by wonderful restaurants. Breakfast was extensive and although not to OUR tastes was well liked by all other guests. Had a heating problem with our room which was fixed by the next night. Would certainly stay again. Suggestion: Do NOT book the night dinner cruise on the Bospherous. Bad food but good entertainment. Expensive. Take a day cruise instead. We booked an official Turkish guide through the hotel and were very satisfied with him and official Turkish guides are highly regulated and VERY knowledgable. In all of our travels on the Med. we liked Istanbul the best over Rome, Barcelona, Lisbon (although all of those are world class cities). NOTE: Change money in Turkey. Evidently everybody does and the exchange rates are MUCH better than we got with our bank and there appear to be currency exchange kiosks with 4 on every block. Almost everybody LOVES dollars or Euros but carefully note the exchange rate that merchants are giving. Turkey appears to be a bargaining culture and tips are appreciated although not expected. We found Turkish merchants to be persistent but NOT objectionable. Turkey is NOT a touching culture. Arrange airport pickup through the hotel. Fantastic find in a prime location between Sultanahmet Square and the Grand Bazaar! Easy walking distance to major tourist attractions on the historic peninsula. Staff were very friendly and helpful … special thanks to Halil and Burak in particular. Great dining options close by. The bed was very comfortable and despite the mosques and traffic in the area, our room was very soundproof!

Superb stay here on our trip to Istanbul.Clean quiet hotel right in the centre of Istanbul Sultanahmet area,lots of good eateries nearby and all the major tourist attractions 5-10minute walking distance.Step out of the hotel you are straight into the city vibe!Breakfast buffet was great and the Bosphorus cruise the hotel advised with a fish dinner and 14 traditional dances on board was a highlight with the Sufi Dervish dance especially hypnotic!

Me gustó mucho la ubicación del Hotel y el estado de las instalaciónes, al parecer están recién renovadas o por lo menos así lo parece. Las habitaciones están amplias y amuebladas con buen gusto, la iluminación es muy agradable. En cuanto al desayuno me gustaría destacar que los platillos calientes están muy buenos y todos los días son distintos, todos me parecieron deliciosos, también hay algunas opciones de dulces típicos y frutos secos muy ricos. I was early in Istanbul and staying elsewhere so when I booked this location, I went there to check out the room before my cancellation date and I was told the room type had booked was full and I could not see any room. In my 30 years of travel no hotel has ever given me this excuse. If I had seen the room and the amenities and size of the room for what I was paying for, (and let me emphasize what I was paying for the room) I would have cancelled it. I think the location is close to main attractions and breakfast was good. But definitely not in the class of $450 hotels.

The staff were amazing. My husband fell on the way into the hotel and they took such good care of him. They got him a seat, water and bandaged a cut with such care. We are very grateful to them for this then they gave us a coffee until our room was ready (which was only 10 mins) and took him up to our room in a wheelchair The room was spotless and spacious and very nice. Outside the hotel we were only a couple of minutes walk from shops, restaurants and the trams so it is in a perfect location. Breakfast had plenty choice and the restaurant served a delicious chicken kebab. When it came time to leave they had booked our taxi which arrived on time A perfect choice and if we return to Istanbul we will certainly go back. Many thanks to all the staff.

Carina Gold Hotel is absolutely wonderful! It is perfectly located near the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Grand Bazaar, and other major sites. The staff members are wonderfully helpful and attentive.
