This is my go-to place whenever I visit my daughter in NYC. The hotel is not fancy but you will have everything you need. The location is excellent, right near a subway line that will get you almost anywhere in the city. The front desk staff and other employees are very friendly. There is a lovely garden with a sitting area in the back. But be prepared for your room to be on any floor-it is a walk up! The staff will help you up and down with your luggage if you request it. If you need a nice place to rest your head in NYC this is it!

I did not like the four story walk-up. The backyard patio was great for relaxing. All of Chelsea and West Village are steps away. Great choice.

5 floors, no elevator. Cute and not crowded, but no amenities, no coffee, no cable, no thermstat, no vendong machine - so if you like quaint and hip, its perfect and if you like Hyatt Express, stay at the chain.

Loved the efficiency of all of it, and the building was very quiet, but not for the faint of heart. There's no elevator and the stairs are very steep. Generally whole place was impressively clean but the filter on the sink faucet was filthy, and the TV very poor, but great location and I'd definitely stay there again.

Really friendly staff at Chelsea Pines Inn. Clean, comfortable room - average size by NYC standards but that means not cramped. WiFi signal good. Killer location in the heart of Chelsea; 1/2 block to the subway. Nice backyard garden with plenty of seating. Lacks some of the amenities I'd usually prefer (gym, pool, restaurant) and there's no elevator but if you can manage stairs it's a great price for a safe comfortable NYC hotel. Would stay there again.

We have stayed in Chelsea Pines before in April 2023 in a small double room. It was small but clean and there was a nice continental breakfast with seating on outside patio. Service was excellent then as it was on our last visit in Sep 2024. This time however, we rented the large apartment downstairs with its own private patio. When we arrived we found the kitchen very under stocked. One wine glass, one martini glass, 2 champagne glasses, 3 large beer mugs and some coffee cups. But no regular drinking glasses. I asked for some but was told they didn’t have any. There was no ice maker and no ice trays. The office let me borrow an ice tray from their kitchen. Coffee pot but no coffee filters. We went out and bought some coffee and again took some filters from the staff kitchen. Found out first morning that there was no longer any breakfast service. But the worst thing was I’m not sure when the floors were last mopped. Beautiful wood floors but our feet were filthy after walking around for a few minutes without shoes. Housekeeping came in daily but never mopped the floors. Very disappointed this time. We love NYC and will be back but will find new accommodations.

The staff was friendly. The rooms and common areas were extremely clean and quiet. The continental breakfast was fresh and plentiful, with plenty of hot and tasty coffee. We loved the location. Great neighborhood near an express subway.

The room was disappointing — it felt like an old basement apartment and was not clean. There was a back door leading to an outdoor area that did not lock, which raised safety concerns. After waiting for the hotel to address the issue without success, I ended up leaving and booking another room elsewhere. Management was not accommodating or willing to offer a refund. I book rooms weekly for travel, and this was one of the worst experiences I’ve had. I would not recommend staying here.

This is a cute little hotel! Like the Hollywood theming. Room was very clean and smelled fresh. Bed was super comfortable. Front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. Location was great as I was attending a show at City Winery. I had a room in the 5th floor and yes it’s a hike up the stairs but I wouldn’t let it stop you, just take a break between floors if you need to. My only improvement comment would be to have real half and half creamer. Will stay again!

Overall the stay was fine and the room was clean, close to the subways, food, etc. However there was no way to turn the air on as the remotes for both the mini split and the tv were gone and they never got them to us. So for 3 days we were sweltering because the heat isn't able to be controlled either. If the air worked and made it more comfortable I would rate higher. Overall, just okay.

Chelsea Pines was a fantastic find for us: our triple studio suite was remarkably spacious for Manhattan, well-designed, with pleasant public spaces (kitchen, sitting room, outdoor back patio) and 24/7 staff. We thought the price we paid for the unit was a bargain. We could hardly believe the size, comfort and quality of the (basement-level) triple studio suite, a 1200-square-foot room that easily housed three adults (could have held 4-5). Its full (and stocked) kitchen, tons of natural light and easy access to the back patio made it feel more like an AirBnB condo than like a hotel; we could have gone grocery shopping and stayed there for weeks. Ahead of our stay, staff answered our phone calls whenever we had a question about the facility. We liked that the Chelsea Pines had a secure entrance and 24/7 front-desk staff. Our only negative was that we had a difficult time controlling the hot water. Bathroom sinks and the shower would often go from cold to scalding hot; it took us awhile to get the right temperature. Otherwise, we loved everything else about our stay at Chelsea Pines Inn. An exceptional find in a terrific neighborhood! All three of our group would stay here again in an instant.

The hotel is a walk up so no elevator, this can be a little annoying if you’re on top floors but the location is top notch, staff are friendly, amenities are nice, and everything is very awesome. I would say not to go here in the summer though because there’s no working AC

Pretty convenient place in Chelsea. A lot of transportation options around, restaurants, pharmacies and famous neighborhoods from a short commute or walk. Staff was very friendly, room was good, but be careful if you got a front street room, street noise can get pretty loud, even in late hours. Room was cleaned daily, and they had coffee and tea in the common areas on the lobby. Overall a good place to stay, recommended.

Cold air blowing on your face all night. While dog friendly, they charge $50 per pet per night. I’m not sure why. They provide no services or amenities. They have a back patio that is in desperate need of attention. Coffee and tea in the morning was good.

A space around the air conditioner in the window was closed with paper and duct tape. My room had a window facing 14th Street, it was too noisy and I could not sleep a bit. A ceiling light was burned out, the other was about to burned out, it was flickering. The temperature control of the shower was broken. The staff was couteous. Conveniently located. Shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and soap were nice.

This is my go-to place whenever I visit my daughter in NYC. The hotel is not fancy but you will have everything you need. The location is excellent, right near a subway line that will get you almost anywhere in the city. The front desk staff and other employees are very friendly. Convenient location to an event we were attending, and the staff at front desk were really nice and welcoming. Clean, comfortable beds and a decent sized bathroom. Basic in amenities, but really just what we needed for a quick trip to the city. Enjoy the neighborhood. Would stay again.

Staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Outdoor patio was peaceful. Excellent dining options and an easy walk to beautiful views on the water. Half a block to the subway. I will come back my next time in NYC!

The room was disappointing — it felt like an old basement apartment and was not clean. There was a back door leading to an outdoor area that did not lock, which raised safety concerns. After waiting for the hotel to address the issue without success, I ended up leaving and booking another room elsewhere. Management was not accommodating or willing to offer a refund. I book rooms weekly for travel, and this was one of the worst experiences I’ve had. I would not recommend staying here.

This was our first time staying in this section of New York city. We absolutely loved the location - near public transport, walking distance to a lot of great cafes and restaurants, and quiet at night. The only issue we had was that our room was on the 5th floor and it was very hard going up the stairs multiple times a day. Next time we'll ask for a room on the lower floors.

For a NY hotel, to find one with a private bathroom, a bit of space, and coffee downstairs is a rare thing indeed! Rooms have a cool vibe and feel new and clean. You can’t get much closer to the metro or the Chelsea Market. Good neighborhood and friendly staff. I will stay again!

My college-aged niece and I I spent four days at the Chelsea Pines Inn, and we had a great time. The staff is lovely and very helpful. Our room was small, but it had one double and one single bed, a shower, and a toilet, so everything we needed. It’s not a luxury place but it’s funky and I liked it. it has five floors and no elevator so that might be an issue for some. The hotel tells you that before you book though, so it wasn’t an issue for us, even though we were on the fourth floor. The Chelsea location is excellent as well, and for Central New York City, it’s very affordable. We took the subway everywhere and it’s about 30 seconds frim the hotel.

We have stayed in Chelsea Pines before in April 2023 in a small double room. It was small but clean and there was a nice continental breakfast with seating on outside patio. Service was excellent then as it was on our last visit in Sep 2024. This time however, we rented the large apartment downstairs with its own private patio. When we arrived we found the kitchen very under stocked. One wine glass, one martini glass, 2 champagne glasses, 3 large beer mugs and some coffee cups. But no regular drinking glasses. I asked for some but was told they didn’t have any. There was no ice maker and no ice trays. The office let me borrow an ice tray from their kitchen. Coffee pot but no coffee filters. We went out and bought some coffee and again took some filters from the staff kitchen. Found out first morning that there was no longer any breakfast service. But the worst thing was I’m not sure when the floors were last mopped. Beautiful wood floors but our feet were filthy after walking around for a few minutes without shoes. Housekeeping came in daily but never mopped the floors. Very disappointed this time. We love NYC and will be back but will find new accommodations.

We had a great 4 nights at the Chelsea Pines!! The location was perfect for exploring all of NYC by foot and Metro. The complimentary breakfast much appreciated and the staff always helpful and friendly. The bed was very comfortable and the street was surprisingly quiet given the hotel is right on 14th! We look forward to returning again soon!

The garages near hotel are pricey and don't discount for Chelsea Pines Inn. The price was right, but will likely will seek out a different hotel for staying in this part of city.

I stayed in the Sophia Loren room (105) but nicely decorated with posters from the film star's career. This room is small but adequate for one person. Not really any view from it, the window looks out on a utility area in front of the back garden. The room is quiet despite sharing a wall with the kitchen/dining area. The split-ductless temperature control worked well. They serve a high quality continental breakfast with real food - fruit, yogurt, pastry and bread from local bakeries.

Breakfast is not much but it is not shrink wrapped, includes really good fresh bread and decent coffee, plus in good weather having it outside is very pleasant. Walking to the 4th floor wasn’t great, but it is not a very high 4th floor, and the guy at the reception carried my suitcase, so not a big problem. I didn’t like self-check in prior to the trip. It did save time on arrival but it was distracting while I was still busy at work and really didn’t have time for it, I was annoyed by it.

The location was close to subway, Chelsea market and the meatpacking district. The rooms were small but it served it purpose as we didn't stay in there long beside showers and sleeping. The person checking us in was very helpful in explaining the courtyard, amenities and guided us on how the buses and subway works.
