Would be negative stars if I could. I have never wrote a review and refused to stay somewhere so this is a first for me. I anm not one to complain anbout things. II want to warn people anbouy this property. I only ended up here because my VRBO canceled a few weeks from my reservation as the property was not longer going to be a VRBO. This was the only place that had a room. Now I know why. I did not feel safe here. The building was wide open to public and the key card access to the exterior doors were broken. This property is terrible and looks nothing like the pictures. It smells and is very run down. I refused to stay here and I have stayed at my share of sketchy places. I am pretty sure there was a prostitute standing outside. When I complained about the hotel the staff blew me off. I contacted Expedia and they said the hotel would refund 2 of my nights, but not the 3rd since I didn’t give 24 notice to cancel. Expedia did nothing to help me with the other nights compensation. Looks nice online but is terrible in real life. Do not stay here and use another app that will stand behind the consumer if a property is not as advertised. I could not find another place since it was Acceptance day at West Point so everything was booked. It was so bad, I would not stay there even though everything was booked. Do yourself a favor and do not stay here.

My stay was comfortable and I felt safe. I didn't like that the outside doors were not properly locked. They didn't close all the way so anyone could get in. The room was clean and quiet.

Broken lock of back door which is beside the window; needed a stick to keep it un-openable. Staffs were friendly.

This property needs an upgrade, looks like HoJo from the 70s. The staff is great but management should invest in capital upgrades.

Pros: location, staff was very friendly and helpful, room was clean and they had updated decor in room. Cons: not a welcoming approach as lobby entrance is in weird location, NOTE THERE IS NO ELEVATOR(but front desk asked if I’d prefer 1st or 2nd floor room), right next to highway so loud and the patio light is on all night with a curtain that didn’t completely block it. All in all, worth the convenience.

Dark and very dingy. Didn't even think it was open when we arrived. Not a single car out front in lot. Room was cleaner than I thought it was going to be after checking in. There was a hole in the glass slider from a BB or pellet gun. The slider (ground level) didn't even lock. Had to use the bar provided to secure it. Not sure how they are in business.

The facility was very run-down and outdated. There was no elevator. We are elderly disabled persons and were given a room on the second floor so no elevator was a definite problem . We had rented two rooms. In one room the door to the bathroom could not be closed. In the other room the toilet seat had fallen off. There were no cups or gasses in the room which is usually standard. We had to go to the desk to get some. There was no ice bucket. Again we had to go to the desk to get one. There were large visible patches on all the hallway walls. Very shabby. On a positive note - the desk manager who checked us in was very friendly and helpful.

The doors did not seem secure

Issues were that the rugs both inside and outside the room need to be torn up and incinerated. All new floors , to remove the stench of cigarette smoke

The curtains were probably last washed a century ago, and the carpet smelled horrible. Luckily, I had a balcony, so I opened it to refresh the air; otherwise, I would have suffocated in there.

There was no continental breakfast, mold in the hallways, cobwebs in the bathroom, overall not worth the price…. they really need to do work instead of just patching it up to make it look somewhat pretty.

Bugs, bedbugs all over in room

The outside looks totally run down and dilapidated. We thought it was abandoned when we pulled up. The front lobby and foyer smells like mold and cigarette smoke. The room was surprisingly decent. Investors must’ve dumped money into the rooms before the outside.

We left. The property was FILTHY. The room reeked of smoke. Burn marks on the bath tub in front of toilet. Bath tub was filthy. Pillows and all bed linen stank of stale smoke. It was the most disgusting place I’ve ever set foot into.

There were cobwebs in the corner of the bathtub so obviously the tub was not wiped down entirely. The room itself was clean but the hotel overall is in need of updates. Hallway carpet appears worn. All interactions with staff were excellent. They were helpful and pleasant. For the price of the room, the breakfast should have been more than a granola bar and bagel.

Older building. Looks dated / rough. But room was spotless. Staff nice

The hotel is very outdated and the continental breakfast was a joke granola bars etc. Hot water was cold first time and empty second time. The sliding door in our room, didn't work right and they said they would come and fix it never did. No extras in room like fridge microwave or coffee machine. Definitely not worth the price I paid!.

If you just want a bed to sleep this is the place Room was clean. Looked like they painted but everything else was old. Large room, no chair to sit in, no refrig or microwave as advertised. If I was paying $89 for room no problem but expected a little more for what I paid. Would not stay again

Crappy granola bar for breakfast pitiful. Heard traffic throughout the night. Tv was weird turning up the volume. How can you charge a high price and offer us granola bars for real?

It’s a very old building and not much maintenance on the exterior has been done. The room was nice and updated. The bed was very comfortable. An exterior floodlight outside of our room shown into our room all night so that kept me awake. Our room was very clean. The front desk person was very polite.

I just returned home from a 16 day trip to see family and friends. I stayed at 5 different motels along the way. Of all the locations this was the overall worst. There was a spoon used to cook drugs left in the room. There was no refrigerator, no coffee maker, no cups. The breakfast buffett had the least amount of items available in any buffet I've seen. And, on top of all this it had the highest room rate of all the motels I stayed in during this trip. I would never re-book this location.

Not that good. There was no ice container in my room. The morning I checked out I went to the desk at 5:00 am to check out, no one was there I waited an hour to check out.

Upon entering our room the door was very loose and not secure until we put the metal latch over the door. There was no dead bolt as it had been removed. When checking our balcony door it did not have a lock that worked and the safety bar fell down when one tried to open the door allowing complete access. I was told because I was on the second floor it was unlikely it would be an issue for me. I had expressed concerns of safety and was told curtly that there were no other rooms and he would have maintenance try to fix it in the morning and if they could not we would possibly be relocated if there was a cancellation. When I called the following afternoon (attended events at West Point Academy all day) the new manager working had no record that the room was to be looked into. It had not by 6PM yet, but was assured that the person working the front desk would take care of it. He did, and it was greatly appreciated. Also noted there was blood on the comforter on the bed so I had requested the sheets to be removed and replaced. I was told that he does not make beds well but he could strip the sheets and leave new ones. I said that would not be a problem. When the sheets were stripped they were simply thrown in the corner of our room and not even taken out. The comforter with blood (not ours) was still on the bed in a ball and not removed. I believe there was. misunderstanding where it was, and rather than looking (I had specifically said)they just stripped the bed

The staff at this property was so incredibly kind, helpful, and overall tremendous. I cannot say enough about how great my experience was with everyone from the HOJO team. However the hotel itself is not nearly as great. The hallway and rooms have a musky smell. The couches in the room have a filament and layer of moisture over them. It gives me an overall feeling of uncleanliness. Finally, the area the hotel is in less than redeemable. I cannot speak highly enough of the staff however, I would not stay here again

Check out time is 11am. I went to get coffee and returned to the room at 10am. The cleaning lady was in my room. She drink my ice tea in the refrigerator. She was eating my potato chips, and she stole a gift i had on the dresser. I was so disgusted about her being in my room and eating my stuff i totally forgot about the gift. I called the property around noon and they retrieved the gift for me.

Waited 35min for someone to come to the front desk. Place is trashed smells and rude

The carpet was damp and felt poisonous. The room smelled weird and the sliding door locks didn’t work. Cigarette smoke smell filled the halls and grounds were dirty and abandoned looking.

The Hotel gives off a very eerie feeling. Never a good start when the first thing you do is strip[ the bed to check the mattress. The patio door (on the first floor) is flimsy and looks like it could easily be broken into. Also concerning when local police officers tell me to get out of the hotel because they have frequent complaints including just hours before my checkin.

2 Star at best, pool closed, store fronts closed, but close to food and gas and airport.

They are pretty rundown. The property was very dirty. It looks like they’re trying to repair it. The breakfast was just a bagel and nothing else. There are clearly drug dealers and other unsavory people about. We paid way too much for this experience

The hotel is definitely run down. But the rooms are clean and the staff could not be more friendly and helpful! The people that work there (and there work hard!) were great and made our stay delightful. The location was ideal for exploring West Point, Newburgh (especially the riverfront and Washington’s HQs), Beacon (across the River) and the Hudson itself. We had a great time!

We could tell that this had once been a very nice hotel, but h fallen into disrepair. We could also tell that the current owners are trying to bring this place back, but so far have not been very successful. When we first entered the building, there was a bad odor in the hallway. The desk clerk had an attitude of indifference. She quoted me a price that was more than the price on Hotels.com, and when I asked if she could match it, she said that I would have to book it online to get that price. So I stood in the lobby and booked the room on my phone ... pretty stupid. The room seemed clean enough, but the sheets made us itchy ... probably the detergent that they use. There were several small maintenance issues with the room, but nothing terrible. The kicker was when we went down for breakfast. There was coffee, juice, and packaged granola bars ... that's all. I would not recommend staying here until they get their act together.

It all started, at check-in, by the clerk telling us that the room we booked (it was a acessible room for reduce mobility persons because it was the less expensive) was unavailable and that we needed to pay 10$ more for an other room with 2 beds. She told us that they wanted to keep that room in case some persons needs it (which is totally fine!) but that the same room was 10$ more. We argued for a good 15 mins and she finally called the manager who said it was OK for us to keep the room that we paid for. Also the reservation we made with Expedia was advertising a room with breakfast included but there was none. The breakfast was in fact old coffee in a thermos and one "val nature" granola bar to go. Not my minimum for breakfast. I am very disappointed and dissatisfied because I felt like the clerk tried to scam me and that we took that room mostly because there was a breakfast included (way more easier in the morning with the kids) and we ended up paying for an acceptable breakfast elsewhere.

Restroom counter had two large cracks that were poorly repaired. Curtain was torn and too narrow for frame and bright flood lights shined thru all night. A bagel and granola bar was it for “breakfast” which is not a meal. Carpet was dirty along edges. Hall carpet was dirty & damaged. Decor was dated. Very expensive for a bottom level hotel. We’ll never stay at a Howard Johnson again!
