Super 8 by Wyndham Plattsburgh

We had 7 rooms for a week. Our room keys never worked, requiring multiple trips to be electronically re-keyed. Breakfast was provided—all carbs—and when something ran out (eg peanut butter or jam) it was never replaced. No hotel room service—“we don’t make beds”. Well situated property with indoor “unheated”” pool/-no one could swim. With routine maintenance the motel could be nice, or average. But it fell short.

Hotel was dirty.. our rooms were freezing.. front desk forgot to tell us that we needed to flip a switch to get the heat to actually work.. the “heated” pool was freezing. Free breakfast had barely anything..

The Pool its very Cold!!!

Staff was completely unavailable for check in. I waited 15 minutes for someone to show up. When he did, he was completely disheveled and came from some room at the other end of the hotel that is for ‘staff.’ No idea what they were doing in there. The rooms were ok, but the hallway and stairway was filthy. The hotel was incredibly hot in the common areas- almost like the heat was on. It was August. The WiFi was not existent in the rooms, and regular cell service is spotty on the outskirts of Plattsburgh. Just a very unpleasant stay overall.

TV doesn't work, no pool, keys deactivated. The so called technician came to fix the TV; and he disappeared a while after. Nothing was fixed.

Lots of parking. Easy access to a store. Noticed you didn't have an elevator.

No iron Board no glasses in the room. No change of Towels in the room the don't electronic card does not work. Every time you have to go down to get new one. Poor breakfast choice .

Worst hotel I have ever stayed at. When we arrived they have you sign something saying you were made aware the pool was closed. I booked it for the pool so the kids had something to do. Front desk said it would be open that day or the next. It never opened nor do I believe it was planned to open. However, once seeing how dirty and in disrepair everything was I doubt I would've let my kids in it. There were some things for breakfast but we didn't eat anything given how unclean everything was. We took some milk and orange juice. My son said the orange juice was sour. The juice machine and water machine didn't work. The vending machine with water didn't work. We went to Stewart's to buy water to brush our teeth with and drink because there was no clean water available. A bug came up out of the sink. The shower water smelled terrible. The wallpaper was coming down like there had been a leak. There was a large bee inside, so unsure where the nest is. Carpet was stained. There were black flakes on the sheets. We honestly debated just leaving and losing money. I wouldn't recommend anyone stay here ever. I can't believe Expedia even works with them

They said heated pool and it was colder than anything we’ve ever been into. No heat at all. No one else swam. Doors open and algae in the pool. Picked the hotel for the pool and this is what we got. Disappointed.

The place is a dump! The key system did not work so I was unable to access my room. I was asked to take the universal key unlock my door, leave it open and return the universal key. Totally unsafe for all guests. Breakfast was pathetic.

Roaches in fridge, ice maker not working, no remote for tv. Left after 2 hours. No refund or discount.

Room was freezing asked for blankets told no. Shower curtain looked like someone dedicated on it. Towel rack fell off wall sink didn't work

The hotel was very dirty. There was ants dead bugs all over the floor. Looks like it hasn’t been clean in weeks. The shower was dirty. The breakfast you were allowed waffles or bread that was it. The wallpaper was falling off the whole place smelled like mold you couldn’t use the ice machine because it hasn’t been cleaned out. It looks like in years That outside property had ice cream cigarettes all over the ground . took forever to check in .. there was a customer in front of us. The hotel clerk was very rude to him. Tunafish left on air conditioner windows were filthy,cobwebs everywhere..

The first room we were given smelled like cigarette smoke. We were given a second room, no smoke smell, but the door did not lock when it was shut. There were cobwebs on the lamps. There was soap scum on the fixtures in the shower. The metal trim and radiators were rusty. The pullows were flat and the pillow cases had holes in them. In general, the place is in disrepair.

The refrigerator had rust spots and dirty inside. The microwave was old and dirty. The couch had water stains and food particle . The tub and walls of the bathroom was filled with soap scum

Not only were the staff rude but the room was dirty. The sheets were not washed they had visible dirt there was no TV remote. The couch was full of stains there was blood on the wall and light shade. There were only 3 towels and we had 5 adults. When I asked for more he gave me a hard time saying I already had 3. I told him we all wanted to shower and needed towels. He said he had none. We also reserved a rollaway bed prior to our visit but told us they had none after I paid extra to have it.

If you can afford to stay elsewhere, you should. The location is convenient and the price is low. We are not hotel snobs at all, but this was one of the grossest hotels we have ever stayed in. The sheets were cleaned, and we were grateful for that. But everything else was dirty, gritty, moldy, and stained. I did not want to sit on the couch or touch anything made of fabric. Much of the shower curtain was moldy - although we were thankful for the curved rod that kept it from touching us. The tub had deep dirt stains and grime around the drain, such that we showered quickly so our feet would not soak in the stopped up water. The towels were (hopefully) clean but all very stained. There was dirt, grime and grit in corners of the room, in the handle of the mini fridge, in the corners around the sink. The carpets were full of stains. Just stay somewhere else.

Filthy, smelled,mold in the bathroom, ripped carpet, chair was so worn out looked to be older than the motel, service was horrible, refused to get us clean washcloth and towell after trying to find someone from morning until 2 in the afternoon,and could never find someone at the desk for help even after a good 10 trips. Had to leave at 2pm for a weddingsi no clean towells. When we got back still couldnt get someone to get me a washcloth. Refused and said i had to wait till morning.... so never got clean towells for our 3 days there.Rude people that wouldnt bend for anything or give you the time of day. I could go on and on. We requested a king bed and after check in found it was a queen and man said he was too busy to help. Once he told me he was too busy to talk to me. Who does that???? Had our hands full and got to dooe to go to our room and the key wouldnt work. Went to the desk ... no one there. Again got back from wedding and key wouldnt work and had to walk around the building to the office. Parking lot all broken up as was concrete walk way... unsafe !!!! Never stayed at such a terrible place and we travel all the time. Not worth the $350 or so we spent ...

The bathroom was filthy. Dirt on the toilet. Hair and pubic hair in the bathtub. Also the handle to hold in the shower is completely broken and I almost fell trying to get up. It’s just sitting there and someone is going to get seriously injured

There is black mold in the sink and the shower. Tissues not restocked. Door would not close without pushing on it. While room smelled like mold.

Firstly we had to switch rooms as the door would not locked when closed. The employee said of the next room we were given he preferred we had that room as there was also an odour in our original room.The floor had been improperly cleaned (I found two m and m's from a previous guest ) and there was visible debris on the carpet. We skipped the free breakfast as when I went to get a coffee before breakfast the milk was sour that I poured into the coffee. Never again at this facility and definitely will not recommend it.

The property was very disappointing. They definitely need repairs and upgrades. My son didnt even want to get in the shower. There was one little bar of soap nothing else. The beds were extremely uncomfortable woke up with sore back.

July 8, 2024 outside is filthy, clean the glass on the entrance door, Summer in the Lake City, $ was decent but not a great value for what it is. Comfortable bed , TV worked, It was hot weather and the air conditioning was good, The door to my room would not fully close enough to lock on its own. !

We had a room change 3 times. The first room lights didn't work, second room had a hole on the outside door and you were able to peak through the door, the 3rd room also had a hole on the door but we had to settle. The hotel had a oder from the dirty carpets.

The hotel is close to Plattsburgh City Beach, Dollar General, some restaurants and a bowling alley. The AC, fridge, and microwave are still working, but I feel I was in the 80s using the AC and fridge. The microwave buttons for the timer are acting up (some buttons are working, some are "disabled"). The room did not have a personal coffee machine; instead, there were 6 packs of coffee creamers, sugars and sticks. This place will be my last resort if there are no options available. I hope the management will make some improvements...

Positives: Staff was very helpful and responsive once you could find them, location was optimal for viewing the 2024 solar eclipse totality. Negatives: Flaking paint and food cooked onto the inside of the microwave, shower curtain a little slimy, very limited breakfast options, broken vending machines, all of the outlets in the room were inexplicably loose causing A/C plugs to just fall out.

According to customer service, the hotel is independently owned, and can do whatever they want. It is a Super 8 by Wyndham Hotel in Plattsburg, and we had already stayed at several Super 8's by Wyndham in different states the past two weeks. This one told us upon request that it costs extra to stay on the second floor, instead of the first floor. At all of the other Super 8 hotels we stayed at the past two weeks, none mentioned an additional cost when the same request was made. They charged what was on the website. There was no mention on their web page about an extra charge for staying on the second floor, instead of the cold first floor room that never warmed up enough until mid day. At night, it was cold in the room. Otherwise, the people running the hotel did seem accommodating during the visit as well as distracted. They appeared short staffed. While I could never get anyone there on the phone from the in-house phone, if I called from outside someone answered. The room was nice and large with a large desk for working. It also had a kitchen with microwave, fridge and stove top. You'll need magnetic cookware to use it. In other words, a magnet should be able to stick to the pot or skilled you are using, and it should be able to cover the circle on the stove top completely. It was a Eurodib hot plate built into the counter. There were a couple of hitches, but I wouldn't be opposed to staying there again. Hopefully, they work out some things, and reconsider that extra charge

This is an older hotel, can’t expect much. I’ve stayed here a few times. The incidental fee is $100. The rooms are spacious however the beds are very firm. Never had an issue with the showers. The pillows are very soft and the AC is cold.

Had a great experience. Staff accommodative very convenient to viewing the eclipse at Lakeside. Staff went out of their way to make our stay a great one.

Stay: July 1-July 3, 2023 Hello: I received the worst possible hotel service in Plattsburgh, NY. When we arrived, we were given a room which door did not close from the outside. When I told the receptionist about that, I was given another room. When I finally checked that other room, the cleaning service did not seem to have been done since towels were lying on the floor, with no toiletries, used toilet, and obviously slept in beds. When I told that to reception, I was told that the housekeeping just did not finish cleaning completely but it was clean and that we could just stay there no problem. It took me some time to get the receptionist to walk with me and look at the room. He could not understand what the issue was and that there were no other rooms available at that time. When asked about when a locksmith was going to fix the door of the first room, the receptionist said he did not know, it could be end of the following day, he did not have any idea. The same pertained to the cleaning service. My frustration was great because we travelled from Maine to NY on the same day with two children, and arrived around 11 pm. The staff did not offer any assistance whatsoever, they disrespectfully continued talking on the phone while I was trying to address my concerns with them. Overall, the male staff was acting in a chauvinistic and disrespectful manner towards me, and trying to screw me over by offering another room that was not ready.

Suprise deposit on check in even though room was paid already. No service to speak about.

Desk attendant was rude and tried to charge an enormous security deposit that wasn’t listed on this site. Pool closed. Ice machine didn’t work. WiFi didn’t work. Towel rack was broken. There were blood laden spit stains in the sink and stains in the shower. The carpet was sticky. The chain lock on the door was too short to actually work. Dump.

Check in was great very friendly abd courteous

We were given a second floor room with no elevator. When we finally got to the room, our card key didn’t work. When we went to check in there was no one at the front desk and it took forever for someone to come. They also had no air conditioning on in the hotel so it was very hot. The manager was not that friendly and he had to run my credit card twice because he couldn’t figure it out

I was charged twice! Front desk clerk advised me that payment made through expedia was/is not accepted. I had to pay at the front desk separately. Please advise how I can get a refund of what I paid online.

The area and the crowd are not for me . I left before checking in. Too scary

Great location. Easy access to Plattsburgh and to Lake Champlain.

Close to water fishing location was why we chose this hotel. Found it to fit what we needed. Clean and close to lake. Easy enough check in. Parking allowed for boat parking. Would return when in the area to stay.

This hotel needs a lot of updating to its decor. Despite that, the beds were comfort and the pillows were great. Great place for an overnight stay in your travel.

A good place to stay. Room and common areas were clean, quiet and welcoming, staff was friendly, and location is great being close to public beach and ferry to Vermont. Some of the negative reviews are hard for me to believe after staying here for 2 nights. This isn't the Ritz Carlton or anything, but certainly not a dump by any stretch. I had a relaxing stay, felt safe, and would visit again.

It was a decent hotel. It was a nice quiet area, the beds were comfortable, the staff was pleasant. Also the prices were very fair also a nice walk to Plattsburgh beach which is not far. The hotel can improve on the quality of the breakfast. There was not a lot of healthy food available such as fruits, and the selection was not a variety. The pool was ice cold there was no heat in the pool. For those who do like to swim I would suggest management to take the time and heat the pool to a decent temperature. I was out for the day and when I arrived back during the evening my room was not clean. If you are looking just for a quiet place just to sleep and if you are not picky about food selection, then I think this place would be good for that type of stay. I feel the hotel would suitable for sure it totally depends on one’s needs at the stay. This place would work for some as well as not for others.

Chose this hotel because it was close to the highway for travel the next day.

The room was adequate. Took a while to check in because credit card machine wasn’t accepting anyone’s cards for incidentals. Sketchy people hanging around the property, so made sure we parked in front. The bed was hard, but clean. The shower water pressure was fine.

I was over in Plattsburgh got an event in Rouse's Point & it was convenient, clean etc etc

The breakfast consisted of toast, cereal and waffles. The part that bothered me was butter jam & peanut butter was in family style container and everyone used their own utensils (clean or dirty)to scoop out their portion. I only had coffee.

There was what we assumed to be an (unkempt) employee smoking outside the side entrance nearly the entire time we were there. The juice dispensers did not work at breakfast and the orange juice that was sitting out in a container was warm. Every member of the staff was lethargic and totally disinterested in everything.

I would say this motel is decent for the price nothing sticks out as great. However the staff was rude and unhelpful. We were 2 adults annd I asked for an extra pillow(there was 3) and blanket we’re told these did not come with our room. We also requested an extra towel (there was 2) and also told not included with the room. The continental breakfast consisted of muffin or cheerios coffee or tea.

The breakfast package is just for internet sales, they had bread and coffee...the waffle maker machine not working, only option was apple juice and cereals.

Very poor continental breakfast selections. At least offer yogurt, fruit or fruit cups. There were NO GLUTEN FREE options!

Had a 2 night stay. First room the light in the bathroom didn't work. The gentleman at the desk said ok but its a beautiful light? After changing rooms we ran out of toilet paper, only had decaf coffee. For breakfast there was toast with grape jelly in a jar that everyone leaves crumbs in no butter and make yourself waffles. No fruit, yogurt

It was a little weathered, but clean. The breakfast served was a bit sad. Limited cereal selection, flavored and sweetened instant oatmeal, only white bread for toast.....

A dump. Shower head leaked... sprayed up to the ceiling.TV could not be plugged in...too far from outlet. No remote. No plastic cups. No tissues. Hallway wreaked of cigarette smoke. Breakfast-juice dispenser out of order. Only cold cereal and waffles for breakfast. I will never stay in a Super 8 again, and I will think twice before booking with Expedia.

Dirty room, stained carpet sofas, bathtub with dirt around drain. No heating, froze all night. Disappointing breakfast choice, no eggs sausage etc, only waffle and cereal and no toppings or milk?
