The front desk staff person was not unpleasant, but he wasn't helpful in any way. I explained to him that I had a wife and little girl with me but he said we would be fine in our room. We got to our room and while the room was clean, there was a electric outlet cover missing with the device sticking out. When I sat onto my bed, it immediately sink in, the bed was broken. My wife also has sleep apnea (we should have brought her pillows). I went down to the office and the front desk person was in one of the couches in the lobby area fast asleep. It was only 6 or 7pm. I asked him if we could switch room because the room was unsafe for my little girl. The place is under renovation apparently so I asked for a renovated room. He said they had no other rooms, they were fully booked. I told him the bed was broken and the electrical outlet was sticking out of the wall. He said he couldnt but he would leave a note for his manager. No manager called. I even offered him $20. I then finally just asked for a couple extra pillows and he said they didn't have any. The room was clean. There is no extra latch on the door and the bathroom window exits to the hallway so it feels unsafe. There are some sketchy characters running around but I wasn't too worried about that. I was really concerned for bed bugs but didnt find any. All in all, pretty amateur experience but not completely terrible.

On the morning of my reservation Expedia sent me an email about fixing my credit card at the Greenview Inn by 11:24 pm or having my room cancelled. It was my screw up with an expired card that declined, but it was a pay at the hotel reservation so I didn’t think it would be an issue. I was already on my way and wasn’t sure I’d make it through Long Island traffic by 4:00pm check in, so I called the Inn to give them my credit card info. They told me that they already cancelled my reservation, and couldn’t help me. Thankfully they called me back after 10 anxious minutes and said they found a room and would honor my reservation. I arrived around 5:30 pm and check in was easy. I got back to my room a little before midnight, and my key card didn’t work. The desk clerk tried to open the lock and could not. He called the manager and when he arrived, he couldn’t open it either. After about a half hour of waiting they offered me another room, but I continued to sit in the lobby, because I needed my diabetic meds before bed. Around 1:00am they said it might be a while for a locksmith, so I opted for the offered room. They came and woke me up shortly after 2:00am so I could retrieve my clothes and meds. Guy said sorry, these Chinese locks suck and that they were ordering better ones. At check out I told the desk clerk my night was terrible and he just said sorry, and handed me my receipt. I was very surprised they did not offer me a discount or something to remedy the situation.

First of all, I liked the layout of the Inn, the entrance lead you straight to the rooms with plenty of parking space, with plenty of lighting and very clean. The room is neat and tidy with a king size bed, the bathroom is spotless, equipped with clean towels, shampoo, conditioner and body wash, so if you didn’t have them with like I did, because I wasn’t planning to stay in the area, ten you are all set. TV on demand, and WiFi provided free of charge. The Inn is located in a very quiet neighborhood, so you will enjoy a restful evening.I will definitely choose Greenview Inn Riverhead for my next trip!

First, we arrived late and I called ahead. The guy on the phone said fine. Then when we did arrive, it was dark and dingy and looked straight out of a horror movie. But the worst part was - when we went to check in - the receptionist barely spoke to us and when I said I wasn't informed of the need to pay a $100 deposit for incidentals on a 2-star hotel, he told us the following almost verbatim, "I can't deal with this. You should go somewhere else and don't stay here." I tried to cancel it online but Expedia said that the hotel refused to waive the fee EVEN THOUGH they told us to get lost and threw us out. THat receptionist even said, "what? Get Expedia on the phone and I'll tell them I waive the fee." I was not rude, I was not hostile, I just said that, "Expedia doesn't say anything about the deposit so I'm not paying it." This "Inn" does not understand service, hospitality, communication, or that it's a 2-star hotel, not the Four Seasons. Don't stay here unless you want to be treated like dirt and overcharged. On top of everything, Expedia told me to work it out with the hotel/my insurance. Called the hotel - they didn't pick up. The insurance is a pain. Massive pain in the neck for nothing. The only good thing is that I got back to NYC on the 495 a lot faster because we left on Sunday instead of Monday night.
