Holiday Inn Express - Dallas Downtown by IHG

They are obviously remodeling: rooms had solid flooring instead of carpet. But they haven't finished installing new HVAC, so you still have the old under-the-window motel air/heater. Room was 'cozy' which was fine. And the lobby and breakfast areas were super clean and inviting. The elevators (both) make horrible sounds and jerk a lot when in operation - not reassuring. There is NO parking at the hotel, and they don't have valet, either. The closest public parking lot is 3 blocks away for around $30 per 24 hours, but it looks like a new parking garage is being build next door.

The hotel was very convenient for our needs. Close to Union Station and the area had a few homeless hanging around as to expect near mass transit. The biggest issue was parking. There really is none provided by the hotel so you’re left with public parking down the street. There is a nightclub nearby which made any opportunities for street parking near the hotel off the table. Otherwise it was a nice room and nice staff.

Hotel was decent overall, but old and the room was very small. Only 1 elevator worked. There was a lot of construction outside the hotel that was noisy and inconvenient. Also no on site parking at all so unless you are just walking or using Uber then I wouldn’t recommend.

The elevators broke mid stay and we had to walk down 5 flights of stairs with heavy suitcases, very upset!

Was informed at check in that the elevator was out of service. Hotel clerk offered full refund so we could go elsewhere with an elevator since we were in town for hospital procedures that prevented us from using stairs.

Unfortunately this site is under renovation. I’m sad to say it’s impossible to tell which parts are finished and which parts were lipstick on a pig jobs. Quick but cheap. The hallways are dark and foreboding. The rooms are poorly lit and furnished like a Hollywood version of a pay by the hour hotel. I did a double take when the elevator stopped as if we had been transported to another dimension by mistake. I must have checked the reservation details a dozen times I was so convinced this was not the same hotel we’d chosen. Expedia deception strikes again! The climate control is in adequate and essentially useless. The bedding so thin and worn out we needed extra duvets for the beds. Parking is several blocks away with uneven walking surfaces, and unappealing return to the hotel.

I'm not sure I was where I was supposed to be for my work but it was fine for just one night. No pool. You are downtown. A little noisy. No parking.

The staff was incredibly helpful here, and were even able to get us checked in an hour early when we arrived sooner than expected. The door required a keycard to enter, along with the elevator, which helped make my husband feel safe despite him not being a city person. There is also a DART station just a block away, which made transportation to downtown and Deep Ellum super easy and convient, even after a few drinks. Overall an excellent location if you're traveling to Dallas, especially if you've never been here before!

No issues with quality of hotel and B’fast is good. Great location with access to light rail and proximity to historic Dealey Plaza. No hotel parking is available and must use nearby parking lot or meter parking.

I like that it as a fitness center with dumb bells!

Hotel needs a lot of cleaning.

We have been traveling with our daughter for the last 12 years and this hotel has been one of my absolute favorite! From the modern decor, friendly service, incredibly clean interior, yummy breakfast and the fact that it smells amazing everywhere you go inside the building haha I highly recommend this hotel and hope to get back to it again in the future!! Also, it is within walking distance to the Convention center and all the JFK stuff is right outside which is an added bonus! Within walking distance to lots amazing food places, also!!

We came in for the night to participate in an event downtown the following day. Overall the room was comfy and quiet. The only complaint as far as cleanliness was the elevator had blood stains along the rails. It made us somewhat skeptical of the location but it worked out for the better.

Miserable condition: dirty everywhere-staircases, halls, rooms (hair, bugs, dirt, …), totally run down, lots of broken parts and pieces, gym was only open/working/functional during a very brief period (and even then there were still dripping ceiling leaks etc). Staff was helpful but nothing they could do about any of all that. For $60-80 per night I probably would have been less surprised and dissatisfied about the miserable conditions but at $350 per night this is totally unacceptable!!!! Would hope Holiday Inn / IHG somehow compensates me for this horrible experience ! Thanks very much, Thomas Iseler

The hotels seems to have gone through a renovation in the not too distant past. It was very well done, room was amazingly clean and comfortable. Also, location was perfect to get around to anything you want to do in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area.

Property was good, neat and clean

Staff great. Surrounding area not so great. Smell of cleaning solution overpowering the entire hotel. Parking was a meh.

I just needed a place to sleep and park my stuff while I attended a nearby conference. This place was fine, the room was a bit cramped but it had everything I needed and the staff did a good job keeping the place clean and orderly.

Well i would like to start off by saying the lady at the front desk was very nice and helpful.. The cleanliness of the elevator and room was not good… the room floor has stains on them… the walls was chipped up with paint missing…. The furniture was old and chipped up…. The vents in the AC needs replacing…. Also the rooms was stuffy made my allergies bad… and head started to hurt….

It was a fine place to stay, walls were thin rooms were small, no hot water in shower. I’ve stayed worse places but also stayed at better places

I understand it’s an old building but please get rid of the sliding doors for the bathroom. There was about a half inch gap when the door was closed. Fine for solo trip but definitely not for family or friends. I tried using the bathroom in the lobby for a little more privacy but same with the downstairs bathroom.

Rooms are too small we could barely move around in it.

Room was clean yet lacked attention. Safety door latch was broken. Beds were uncomfortable. Felt extremely crowded in the room with 2 beds and difficulty maneuvering. Extremely loud noise which sounded like thunder coming from within the hotel but unexplainable.

The hotel was updated and visually appealing. Our standard king room barely had any room to walk around the bed, very tight space, but okay for just two of us for one night. Shower was good but narrow. Bed was comfortable. Room was clean. No major issues. Parking wasn’t far but it was confusing to find at first. The parking lot cost $20 for up to 24 hours, and was about a 2.5 block walk from the hotel. Finding dining nearby was tricky only because parking was not available at most restaurants and we were not familiar with the area. When we arrived, check in was slow, we were third in line. The front desk associate was being fairly rude to an international guest, and we felt bad for the guest. Breakfast had a pretty long window and there was a good selection of hot and cold items - oatmeal, pancakes, bacon, eggs, omelettes, yogurt, pastries, cereal etc. Generous checkout time of 11am. Our only big complaint would be construction starting directly across from our room around 5am, waking us up earlier than we planned.

Everything was good except Thursday morning water was not hot just barely above cold

AC unit didn’t blow enough air in the room to keep it cold. Shower floor was cracked and since it was made of plastic the water ran into the bathroom everytime someone took a shower. No closet space in the room at all. It was clean and too much of a hassle to change rooms with hotels.com or the hotel.

The first attempt to check in, which, granted we were early, the lady couldn’t find our reservation. She stated we would need to come back at 3:00. She was very short and curt with us. When we returned around 5:30, the man couldn’t find our reservation and told us we needed to contact Hotels.com. He would not accept the itinerary number or the receipt of payment. While I was trying to get in contact with your company, I heard him tell the next guest he couldn’t find their reservation either. And a guest who had just checked in came back down because he had given her the keys to the wrong room. Finally, he said he found the reservation. He wrote 608 on the key envelope, scratched out the 8 and wrote a 9, then handed me a new key envelope with 608 on it. I went to this room and the keys didn’t work. After the confusion I had witnessed, I tried the key at 609 and sure enough, it opened the door to 609, which had 3 guests in it. I apologized for the intrusion and went back to the front desk. I told him I had the wrong keys and at first, he insisted I didn’t but finally reconfigured them. No apology was given.As for the room, it was the size of a closet. Every time the water was turned on in the bathroom sink, it sounded like there was a leak in the wall. Parking was 4 blocks away, although it was advertised as “parking available “. Very deceptive. The breakfast items such as eggs and coffee, were cold. This was the worst place we have encountered on our now 21 day road trip.

I had a great check in. The woman at the desk was so thoughtful. I arrived late in the evening and during check in the woman asked if I was traveling alone. She stated she did not want me to walk around the area alone at night so she told me a close parking spot that I could use until the morning. I really appreciate her taking my safety into consideration. She was very kind and for that I am so thankful. I might have the spelling wrong, but her name was Miral. Thank you again for making my trip to Dallas a safe and fun time.

What is with all the deodorizers in the halls, elevator? One elevator not working for our entire stay. Extremely limited dining!! Front desk staff hid in room behind desk. Not helpful at all.

The staff at the property were very friendly made checking in and out convenient. The room was clean and well kept. Overall, I was very happy about the property in itself. It does appear to need a few renovations, but that didn't negatively impact my stay.

Picture this New Year’s Eve. You go with your girlfriend to watch the fireworks at the tower, drunk and in love. You checked into your room but due to the traffic couldn’t bring your stuff inside before the count down. After the clock strikes mid night after after waiting 2 hours to find a parking spot. You two waddle your way through the lobby to your room but your key doesn’t work… The numbers written in the key match the door but they don’t work. You listen closely and you can hear people in the room YOU payed for and CANNOT get into. So you go down the the lobby where you wait 30 min for the lady hyped up off of steroids and pre-workout to stop yelling at the front desk, clerk about people smoking on the stairs. The clerk is just as baffled as you when you explain to him that he mistakenly gave the room YOU payed for away to a different person. Mind you you haven’t seen the room so you can’t even tell if the room he says he’s gonna give you instead. He’s even remotely close to the one you paid for. They said that if you wake up early in the morning, come down to the front office, they would compensate you for the whole mixup and you did just as they instructed only need to find out, it’s a different guy working the desk in the morning. He says the same thing. The other guy told you the night prior so you wait before you write this review to see if they actually follow through what they’re gonna do and they don’t. Horrible day never again save your money.

Staff were very helpful and polite. Breakfast was appreciable. The walls between the rooms and the hallways are very thin. You can easily hear whatever is happening on the other side of your room.

Front desk agent was unfamiliar with credit card capture. This caused them to cancel my stay while I was sleeping, give my room to another guest who attempted to enter my room late night and scare my family. Ultimately I was charged twice. Find a better option.

While traveling with my young daughter for a cheer competition, they gave an adult male guest a key to my room. He attempted to get into my room at 10:30 pm at night. Thankfully I had the door latch locked and brought my own door stop and safety alarm so I was able to detour him.

Friendly staff I will always come back.

By far the easiest fast check in experience Ive ever had at any hotel. And ya girl stays at a lot of hotels. The staff was wonderful! They laughed and joked with us, and were friendly and sweet. I would stay there again and again. Def changed my pov on this chain.

Locality was very good for anything we wanted to do, walking distance. Parking was a little bit of an issue but we were lucky it was the weekend. Facilities good. Breakfast provided was a plus. Staff lovely. Overall, would recommend Holiday Inn at Dallas.

Fantastic location in the downtown area opposite the railway station with a super view of Dealey Plaza. Staff very friendly and room was immaculate. Great place to base yourself for a Dallas adventure.

Walking distance to convention center. But hotel does not have a parking garage and rooms are VERY small. The hotel has you park in a lot about 2 blocks down, the lot has cameras and well lit but my husband and a few other trucks were broken into. Sketchy area, probably wouldn't stay here again or even recommend it.

This hotel is in a great location. It’s in the heart of downtown Dallas We walked just about everywhere. The daily breakfast that was provided was very good. This isn’t a fancy hotel, but very clean and centrally located. We would stay there again.

Great little hotel for a weekend. The area around it is a little sketchy, but I never felt unsafe. I could safely walk during the day and at night. You are 2 blocks from the 6th Floor Museum and Kennedy's assassinations site. They have a very good breakfast and nice clean rooms. i would stay here again if I return to Dallas for work.

Excellent location to tour downtown area

For me, it was a great and comfortable stay in the Historic District of downtown Dallas, and in an establishment serving the best complimentary breakfast in the country!

The room at night was not as quiet as expected. Breakfast appliances were broken. Juice machines broken, toaster dangerously malfunctioning but available for useage. 😞

Excellent location for Dallas touring! Bonus, the building has historical significance as well. The rooms are rather small, but location is excellent, breakfast is provided, and it met our needs for a quick Dallas pitstop.

Very close to the Amtrak train station and blocks away from restaurants. Hotel staff were very nice and knowledgeable of the area. They had a huge breakfast area with lots of option to choose from. Will definitely plan to stay there again.

There was no restaurant at the hotel even though that was advertised. There was also no parking and the parking they did provide was suppose to be at a discount with their coupon code. The coupon code didn’t work and when I told the staff this they shrugged their shoulders and told me I’d have to go through the parking lot company to get the discount. The breakfast hours they posted were also not accurate. They were late every morning serving breakfast. I am a single mom with a toddler and I thought this would be an easy hotel for us, and it was the most incovenient hotel.

Room is small. The breakfast time is short and no water is around unless you pay for it.
