We travel on a budget. Most of the time that means chain hotels - clean, dependable, BORING. The Priory is LOVELY. An affordable boutique hotel, as close as a hotel can be to a B&B. The room was big, the bed comfortable, the shower fantastic, the black out curtains kept out the light. The fitness room was fine. The breakfast was tasty and fresh. The gorgeous courtyard was a pleasant place to have coffee. The tiny bar has a really great bar tender named Michael who is also the mixologist. He pours a great drink. If we ever find ourselves in Pittsburgh again, for certain we will return!

The Priory Hotel was an excellent choice for the two of us for 2 nights, we went to Pittsburgh for a baseballl game, they even had a shuttle added for the guests to and from PNC park, we were also not far from any of the many other attractions. check in was easy, staff were all very helpful, and rooms were clean and comfortable.

We had a great stay at the Priory Hotel. The room was clean. The bed was comfy and had plenty of pillows. There was a small coffee maker in the room. We really like the antique furnishings in the hallways. They have a workout room and computer room in the lower level of the hotel. The parking is free, which is a big bonus in Pittsburgh! They also have a shuttle service too. They offer a hot breakfast, but you have to choose a time for it to be ready. If I had to improve on the breakfast, it would be to make the choices more transparent. We were afraid to order a breakfast muffin, fruit, or yogurt because there were no choices for flavors. The hot breakfast choices were ham or sausage croissants. There was no where to make modifications to say no cheese for those who are lactose intolerant. We ordered one sausage and one ham croissant with egg and cheese. They were the perfect temperature. There was hot coffee and tea in the dining area.

This was a great find! Free parking. Available shuttle to get to and from venue we were visiting. All the staff was exceptionally friendly. Would definitely stay here again when visiting Pittsburgh.! Thanks for a great night away.

Nice building and aesthetic, but the breakfast and parking need serious attention. A paper bag with bottled juice and squishy items to eat in the room isn’t expected; gravel parking lots are not appropriate for luggage, they should be paved. Otherwise, a clean property with pleasant decor.

The hotel was charming. The lobby had a warm, welcoming feel. The room was clean throughout, with fresh towels and a spotless bathroom. The beds were comfortable, and we slept well each night. The location was a real plus. It was within walking distance to so many cute shops, cafés, and local spots. We enjoyed exploring on foot and never felt the need to drive. We loved our stay. The staff were friendly and helpful, and everything ran smoothly. We would definitely stay again.

The Priory Hotel is gorgeous! Spotless and beautifully decorated. The owners have obviously taken great care and consideration when choosing each piece of furniture. The breakfast was awesome. We grabbed a drink at the Monk Bar and enjoyed it out in the courtyard. What a lovely space that is! The hotel itself is a 10/10. The area immediately surrounding it is quaint but when you venture out a little further it is a bit rough. We did walk to a local restaurant called Huszar (a must try…delicious food!) and we were fine. Nobody bothered us at all. The hotel does offer 2 free parking lots. One was even gated with access using your card key. Both very close. If we are ever in this area in the future, we will definitely be staying at the Priory Hotel. It was hands down one of the nicest places I’ve ever stayed.

Very nice boutique hotel! Lovely rescued and renovated building. Our particular Queen room was quite small, but other family had a King bed and the room was much more spacious. We had a 1am loud talker in the room above us (out of the hotel's control) and I had to pad up the stairs to say something, so the guy finally wrapped up his phone call. Rude! Great central location to many tourist destinations. We loved Pittsburgh! Even though the traffic was pretty slow.

Great historic hotel. The bed was really comfortable and the bar was convenient. We enjoyed the courtyard as well. The downside was that the shower was really small the neighborhood seemed somewhat unsafe for night walking.

We really enjoyed our stay at The Priory Hotel. The building is charming and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The complementary breakfast was very good. The room was a little dated, but it was large and had everything we needed. The bathroom is very small, as is to be expected in an old hotel. Everything was exceptionally clean. There are two parking lots hotel guests can use; the only time we had a problem finding a spot was when there was an event at the connected event space on Saturday night. Free parking across the street was convenient. Because it is a historic building there are some sound/noise issues which cannot be avoided. The room was also a bit tight and the layout wasn’t ideal but this is also due to the historic nature of the building.

Can hear everything outside and above you, and are next to train tracks. That’s not a reflection of the staff or building itself. Very beautiful and historic. Friendly and helpful staff. Only forewarning future guests who might be light sleepers

Michael, the bartender was great!! Very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was an issue. We ordered for 8:30am. We waited until 9:00. We said something and they didn’t make our order a priority after making the mistake. I left some clothing in the room and they called me immediately to shop it to my home. Thank you for that!

Excellent boutique hotel in Pittsburgh area within walking distance of both sports stadiums and many dining and activities. They did a great job of renovating the old building into a hotel and the staff was outstanding.

This is a beautiful property. The rooms are exceptionally clean and comfortable. it is convenient to Pitt as we were visiting our daughter. The parking is free and across the street from the hotel. Staff is friendly and professional. Now for the reason. I am writing the review. We woke up this morning in a bit of a hurry to check out and we had no hot water. I called the front desk and was told to let the water run for about 5 min (I had already done that) and then call back if it does not get hot. We let it run for at least 10 min and then decided we did not have time to wait for someone to maybe come and fix it so we quickly took our showers with cold water. When we checked out I told the front desk that we never did get hot water but we had to leave. All he said was 'sorry'. We were not offered any type of compensation at all for our inconvenience. Other than the hot water issue, it was a nice stay but will not return.

We had a 1am loud talker in the room above us (out of the hotel's control) and I had to pad up the stairs to say something, so the guy finally wrapped up his phone call. Rude! Great central location to many tourist destinations. We loved Pittsburgh! Even though the traffic was pretty slow.

Great historic hotel. The bed was really comfortable and the bar was convenient. We enjoyed the courtyard as well. The downside was that the shower was really small the neighborhood seemed somewhat unsafe for night walking.

The Priory’s location allowed us to easily get to the Strip District and PNC. The building is meticulous and charming. There is ample parking between their two lots.

If you look at the pictures on the hotel website, or check the Deutschtown website you'll see that the neighborhood is very different when you arrive. Most shops are closed, there is trash everywhere, and you will not feel comfortable walking anywhere.

The brick building has so much character. The decor is simple and elegant. Common spaces are sufficient. The courtyard with the fountain is a peaceful spot is a nice place to eat breakfast or just to relax. Breakfast: you check off your choices on a sheet of paper the evening before. You also select your time for pickup so that the sandwich is hot. Coffee and tea available in common area as well as in your room. Shower: it took a long time for hot water to come. A/C was loud when it turned on for a short burst of air. If you are sensitive to outdoor noise, be aware that trains go by at night. Sketchy neighborhood, but the hotel is at the end of the street. Private lot directly across the street was nice, considering that other options in Pittsburgh charge $30 or more for parking. We walked across the bridge and into Pittsburgh with no problems. We would not hesitate to stay here again.

Excellent boutique hotel in Pittsburgh area within walking distance of both sports stadiums and many dining and activities. They did a great job of renovating the old building into a hotel and the staff was outstanding.

Lovely old historic hotel with lots of understated elegance. High ceilings, woodwork, gorgeous windows. Lovely room furniture in a nicely sized room, nice sized bathroom with carrera marble. Tiny shower though. Parking is in a crushed stone lot across the street. The overall area seems iffy. I feel that for the price and the overall aim for elegance, the desk staff should offer help with bags, especially up the front steps, or at the least open the door. Not that the staff wasn't nice, but the level of service was more like a Holiday Inn Express than an historic Inn. The included breakfast to go was an underwhelming farewell. I didn't expect a sit down breakfast, but I also didn't expect gas station type Saran-wrapped gummy lump of a muffin and a an Activa yogurt. I would stay again if I had business where it's out of the way location made sense, and I'd make a better plan for breakfast.

Our room was large, quiet and clean. We enjoyed a drink at the smallest bar in PA one night where we were able to mingle with other guests. Grab and go breakfast was a nice surprise. We stayed 2 nights, so if we had stayed a 3rd night, we probably would have looked for a breakfast spot nearby as the grab and go breakfast menu did not change during our stay. But eating the substantial bagged breakfast in the courtyard was lovely. The complimentary ride to and from the 2 baseball games we attended at PNC park was a game changer. Overall a wonderful experience at a unique property.

Beautiful building, room felt luxurious. Very clean. Breakfast is a little weird. You order it the night before and then you pick it up in a shopping bag at a chosen time in a room with tables and chairs, but it's not a dining room, really. There's no serving people there. But the food was good enough. Anyway, we have no trips planned, but I would stay there again.

The breakfast is very poor, not up to par with a hotel of the category or rating indicated in its advertising. The way the stay in the dining room is cut off is unpleasant and it is also unpleasant to have to put the wrapper or the bag where the breakfast is delivered as a plate. There is not even a plate or other eating utensils. In addition, knocking on the room door and calling by phone minutes before lcheck off the room is also very unpleasant.. In all the hotels I have been to they do not do these actions.

Beautiful hotel which looks more like a B & B. Rooms and the place itself is very elegant. Free parking across the street or additional parking around the corner. For the free breakfast, you fill out a paper the night before and choose a time to go pick it up in the morning. A freshly made, delicious breakfast sandwich with fruit and beverages were waiting for us at the time we requested. They have hot tea and coffee in the same area with seating.Staff are very helpful and polite. Very cute seating area outside. Very close to nearby attractions which for us was a concert at PPG Paints Arena. Would definitely stay here again.

We loved this little boutique hotel. Service was wonderful. Everyone was very friendly. Cute little bar and fireplace lounge in lobby. Breakfast was to go but really good. Ham and cheese croissants were a hit! We will definitely come back.

Had a remarkably lovely experience! The property was delightful and it was such a nice mix of historic ambiance with modern amenities. The entire staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. They were able to assist us with dinner recommendations and even provided transportation! The room was beautiful and comfortable and the shower had surprisingly great water pressure for a third floor on a historic building. The breakfast was delicious and convenient and even the little gym was well-equipped. Just an all around wonderful stay! Exceeded expectations and would definitely choose again to stay there! Highly recommend!

Everything at this hotel was top notch. It is a boutique hotel with a lot of character, previously a monastery. Exceptionally clean with special touches like an excellent breakfast and a shuttle that will take guests wherever they want to go within a 2 mile radius. The outdoor garden was spectacular. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. We will definitely stay at the Priory Hotel again if we go to Pittsburgh.

Most of our stay was okay. Parking is very tight if you have a large vehicle. We also had a room facing the courtyard, and it was very loud in our room until well after 1:00 in the morning. Finally, the biggest problem was that it rained overnight, and all night long, we heard dripping that we thought was outside. However, around 5:00 in the morning, we realized that our room was leaking. It was dripping on the bed and running all down the wall. We went down to talk to the staff at the desk, but all she did was apologize and come up and take pictures. When we checked out, we were told that management would reach out to us, but no one did. We got very little sleep. I liked the location for walking to PNC Park, but because of the issues, I don't think we'd choose to stay here again.
