General Morgan Inn

Great property. Unique and quaint. Very Charming. I would definitely recommend it to anyone traveling to Greeneville. We felt safe and it was conveniently located. Adorable candy shop attached to the hotel. (Sweeter than Sweet.) Negatives: room was a bit chilly and never quite reached the temperature it said it was set to. Bring extra blankets in winter! Restaurant was closed for breakfast on Sunday. A heads up at check in on Friday would have been helpful since we came down Sunday to have breakfast. Other than that, the stay was great! #topnotch

Drunks at the door prevented easy unloading. Elevator and hallway smell of smoke and marijuana . Bar closed at 9 pm on Friday night wish we’d known that we would have brought our own beverages. Dinner was excellent.

Vents were dirty and the towels were ripped and had holes in them. Staff was nice and accommodating. Restaurant closes at 9 pm

Property has a lot of character. Nice bar and restaurant but on Friday and Saturday night the bar and restaurant closes at 9 PM. Have to go off property to get a cocktail. Makes it very inconvenient.

Beautiful place w friendly staff. Even has free shuttle to Niswonger Performing Arts Center. Great choice for sure!

The room was very clean, the receptionist was efficient and welcoming, the salads we purchased at the front desk were fresh and delicious, and having a free shuttle bus to and from the Niswonger Center was a great convenience.

The hotel is large and comfortable. The rooms are clean and the staff was friendly and so helpful. I would defiently stay there again. There was a quick shuttle to the local playhouse and the dinner was delicious !

Nice downtown area with onsite bar/restaurant and parking. Surprisingly quiet, but maybe this was due to a weekday visit. Floor was creaky, so I apologize to the people below me ;)

Lovely small historic hotel. Beautifully decorated for Christmas in the public areas. The lovely room was neat, clean, and comfortable. Parking was easy and convenient. Breakfast is a voucher to the coffee shop for $7.

Our room was very clean, the best I have seen in quite a while. The coupons to the coffee shop were fine, it is just down a hall, and there are plenty of options. Better than any continental breakfast at other hotels. My one suggestion would be to tell guests that on Sunday's they put out juice and muffins for the guests.

This is a lovely historic hotel. The rooms are huge and very clean. The properties very charming. Dinner on site was fantastic. Staff are very accommodating. Special mention to Megan who was so helpful when our flight was cancelled and we needed to change our reservation for that night.

Very Euro in feel. High ceilings, fireplaces in the rooms, comfortable beds. We could tell the exterior grounds are gorgeous, even though the weather was wet and gloomy during our stay. Our room, though lovely and clean, will need some help soon. The luggage rack was unusable, stuffing was coming out of the lounge chair, the sink drained slowly and the comforter was skimpy. Thankfully, the mattress was excellent, and the place has plenty of character, so we would stay again. There are coffee pucks in the room and a huge variety of teas in the lobby. The included breakfast was a credit for the coffee place in the building. Friendly service with smoothies, breakfast sandwiches, bagels & muffins, etc. I would use the credit for food and have the coffee from the room, which was better. There is a great candy store accessible to the lobby with lots of cool vintage candy as well as Tennessee produced sweets. We ate at Brumley's, the on-site restaurant the first night. The entrees were decent quality, although appetizers were mostly deep fried bar food. The vegetarians in our group had to have the single meat-free side salad and a lukewarm baked potato. This was the case throughout the area - not a foodie town, so in context, this was pretty good. This is a grand old building that they have not spoiled with inappropriate remodeling and we appreciate that! We would come again. I would stay here over a chain any day!

Bathroom counter small. Air conditioner loud during night

Room was surprising large. Should have a grab bar in the bath tub to help getting in and out for old folks.

The air conditioning was broken in our room, we were able to move to another one. Moved to the new room and the air was broken as well. Neither of the rooms would get below 75 degrees.

Large rooms, pretty area and downtown

When we checked in the air conditioning was working great. It was around 70 degrees outside. Through the night the air conditioner stopped working. Thermostat sais 76 and was set on 68. Impossible to sleep at night. The front desk lady was very unapologetic and said it was due to rapid weather changes outside. Which there were none currently. Another pateon also complained and he was guven the same treatment

The hotel is dated. The double bed is not comfortable for two people.

Great stay. We appreciate old hotels. Bed was a tad noisy and hotel is VERY a close to train tracks. Know and you still have a great time.

Small room.

Very comfortable stay. Staff was very pleasant and helpful. Beautiful historic building with gorgeous Christmas decor! We liked the private parking lot, comfortable beds, excellent water pressure, great toiletries, and the $7 credit each for the coffee shop downstairs was enough to cover a coffee and bagel/muffin each. We also got a local sweet treat gift from the sweets shop. A nice touch! The hotel itself was very quiet and I did not hear other guests. We were in a room facing the street however and the road noise was quite loud. I am a heavy sleeper so this wasn’t an issue, but recommend to request a room facing the courtyard for those who are not. Also due to the age of the property there is an old smell to it that may be unpleasant to some, but considering we had just vacated a hotel room that stunk of cigarette smoke and rebooked here at this hotel instead, we didn’t mind :) Thanks so much for a great stay!

The restaurant, bar and coffee shop were all closed during the entirety of our stay. We had to leave the Inn to eat dinner and there was only a limited breakfast option. The staff was very unhelpful..

The General Morgan Inn is an amazing place to stay. This facility offers so much history and beauty. Plus there is a wonderful restaurant on site with a full bar and a great bar tender. Everyone of the staff members were wonderful and friendly but Patricia went out of her way to make our stay memorable. Thank you Patricia.

The only hickup was housekeeping not cleaning our room. The staff apologized and were very nice. The breakfast vouchers did not cover the limited breakfast offered but historical area and hotel were nice

My husband and I really enjoyed the inn. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the room was very clean and nice. A very quaint and charming place. I left something at the inn and a staff member called to tell me. We were too far to turn around and they offered to mail us the item. To have staff go out of their way meant a great deal to us. It’s not every hotel/inn that would do that. We will definitely stay there again.

Staff was friendly and professional. Restaurant was excellent. Room was clean and comfortable. The only negative was vacuuming outside of our room around 8 AM.

We were there for a wedding. Hotel staff super friendly and helpful with a number of special request. Very comfortable room. Great coffee shop and nice lobby coffee/muffins on Sunday morning. Lots of areas within hotel to socialize with family. Perfect for our needs.

I stayed here recently, and it was almost comical. If you’re looking to stay at an establishment with zero customer service and concern for their guests, then the General Morgan Inn is the place for you. Besides the fact that the onsite restaurant is completely overpriced for the most mediocre food I have ever had, and that’s if you care to eat there after you’re not greeted by anyone including the Manager that is less than a foot away, and along with the fact that there is zero room service, although marketed through the room (which is probably for the best), and not to mention there is not a single person their to offer to hold the door while you have a cart loaded with Christmas gifts, I take that back the women behind the desk and the Manager had eyes on me as a desperately struggled, this hotel is so outdated that it’s not vintage, it’s just well, old. My room was so basic, my curtains torn, a tv so small you can’t see it from the bed. There is so much false advertising as well. Don’t believe the ‘breakfast included’, it’s a seven dollar voucher at a coffee shop down the street that doesn’t even have breakfast sandwiches. And the voucher decreases in value as the hours go on from 6am. I spoke to the Manager, and asked if someone could please hold the door for me, and was told “sorry, we can’t do that”. I have never written a review before, more or less a negative one. But, being in the industry, and working hard for my money, I felt the need to warn others ag

Convenient walk to areas of interest

Charm and service were excellent. Their restaurant was wonderful. Great location to stroll and explore the downtown area. We look forward to coming back.

Historic downtown Greeneville is awesome!

Great historic hotel in the middle of a quaint town. Front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. Travel tip: arrive early because the downtown area shuts down early. We arrived at 9PM and had to drive outside of downtown to find a place to eat.

OMG was this hotel noisy. If you absolutely have to stay here make sure you are on the top floor. But even then the noise from outside won't let you sleep.

The hotel is beautiful. The area is also quite nice, and the hotel is located in the heart of downtown. Lots of historic sites all around the area. We had a great stay!

Not sure where breakfast was, unclear if there was a place to eat there, had to walk down the street to a local diner which was great. There was a bar that we were going to see if they had appetizers but the gate was slid closed at 9pm unwelcoming

Lovely historic town, nice to see main street being rebuilt. Not keen on the breakfast options, expected more of a hotel.
