Very economical, older hotel but clean, definitely needs updating and TLC. Provided a continental breakfast, which was perfect. AC worked great, the electoral outlets don’t work well, hot water is slow but eventually comes. Would stay there again, it’s very reasonable and staff very nice and felt safe.pool not open

Great location, free parking in parking deck right next door, was able to check in hours early as hotel was not busy at all. You can picture this hotel in its heyday but has definitely seen better times. Staff was friendly. Comfortable walk all over the business district and to the river walk and various restaurants. Downside: its like a ghost town. Restaurant is closed. Pool is closed. No food options. Vending machines that only sometimes worked for us. Ice machine not working on our floor. I never saw anyone other hotel guests! Overall, we will stay again. Its in a prime location for a great price. Affordability and convenience mean the most to me. And checking in at noon was amazing. My teen thought that it gave creepy abandoned hotel vibes that he is into ...especially in the dark wood elevators and the old era music playing as we walked around with no other guest in sight lol.

Phone in room didn’t work and when reported to front desk I was told it was hit or miss with the phones. Card key entry unstable, had to get a new card and still intermittently worked. Ice machine on floor (5th) didn’t work and didn’t have a sign, Continental breakfast with no fruit. Hotel Signage is over the adjacent garage and barely noticeable during the day hours. No signs ground level near entrance.

The hotel is dated and is in need of a full upgrade and renovation. I expected a “real” buffet breakfast but only got watered down coffee and packaged, overly sweet muffins. The main reasons, I booked this hotel was location, free buffet breakfast and the gym. The gym was HORRIBLE, it should have been closed for the mildew and mold. Clearly, this hotel needs a lot of work. I gave a 3 stars because the staff were friendly, hospitable and helpful.

No dining available, poorly maintained and old carpet, Keurig coffee maker did not work reliably even after replacement, phone did not work to call front desk, front desk did not answer when I called from my cell, ice makers worked on only 2 floors of 7, pool out of service, elevator only worked when both up and down buttons pushed, and it was almost $300/night for graduation weekend!

Our first room appeared to have soiled sheets. Front desk switched rooms quickly with no problems. Rooms were pretty clean. Bathroom was clean except the tile and caulking around the tub had significant mildew. Shower curtain bar was drooping down preventing the curtain from staying closed( causing water spraying on the floor). A breakfast sandwich and burrito would be a nice addition.

I stayed here on business. The property is in a great location, close to everything. Unfortunately I found "BEDBUGS" IN MY ROOM!!! If you\'re planning to stay here .... DON\'T!!! Save your time and money. I checked out way early. I didnt even ask for my money back. VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!

Smelled like mildew and mold. Elevator was broken, had to take stairs, not hot water in shower, water didn't drain in the tub. Ants crawling around the room and on the bed. TV channels were not working. AC unit is extremely loud.

Aged is one thing, but The Grand is neither clean nor welcoming. The paneling in the elevator is chipped and scratched, and some basic maintenance would help. Some elevator buttons are missing their numbers. I was on 6th floor but there was no six! There's no excuse for not marking it. Our room was dirty and dusty. The old air conditioner unit was dusty and grimy, and needed a good wipe-down. The phone was disgusting and didn't work.The carpet was badly stained. The tub, by the drain, was badly stained black. Worst, we didn't notice, until leaving, that the smoke alarm had been removed! No excuse for that. When we checked in, we were told that "there's no housekeeping...no one to make up the beds." It was not a welcoming experience. The parking lot, not attached, does not have security, and is creepy. Single females should stay elsewhere. We planned to stay 3 days but left after one. One night was too much. In all fairness,the bedding was clean and the beds comfortable. The shower was good. Just the condition of the hotel and rooms was bad.

Room smelled musty, beds were small and Soft. Mattresses were thin. Room looked like it was wiped quickly. Had to clean with sanitizing wipes which wiped off dirt. Sheets were clean. Very outdated hotel.

We had a horrible time with the keycard access and had to come down multiple times for help to get into our room. Absolutely disgusting hotel. Original room was filthy and full of black mold from the furniture to the carpet including the vents. bathroom had pink mold. I was switched to 3 different rooms. All of the rooms were in the same condition. We refused to stay and had to book a different hotel. Definitely unsafe. Only good thing i can say is the staff was extremely nice and accommodating and tried everything in their power to give me a better experience.

Staff was super nice and friendly. Room was very clean, neat, comfortable , and in good condition. The common areas need a bit of TLC, just a bit worn. Great value. Would stay there again when in Lynchburg.

In town for business with Liberty U. Although the hotel was not all that close to Liberty, being in the downtown area was a good choice. Parking was convenient. There were many restaurants in the area. Continental breakfast was adequate. WIFI internet was slow.

We've stayed here before and understand what condition the hotel is in. We stay here for overnight trips because the price is right. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are clean. This time, the shower in our room didn't work. We made do and informed the front desk attendant when we checked out. The attendant just said that she'd let maintenance know. We expected an apology of some sort and gratitude for letting them know. Just total lacking of basic customer service.

Very slow check in. Our key card did not work right and we had to have them reactivated. The security lock was broken off the door. There was one piece of soap. Would have been nice to have had one for the sink and one for the tub. There was no hair dryer. We looked in the closet and all the drawers. Whatever had held the hairdryer in the bathroom was broken off. Staff was friendly, but was understaffed which made check in so slow. Breakfast was nice and the gentleman in charge was delightful.

Arrived at 5 pm way past check in time, waited in longline at checkin. My room as well as several others was not ready. Was told come back later. My room was not ready until 6:15. I was supposed to be at an event that started at 630. This lack of preparation on the hotels part caused me to be 45 late for an event i had come to town to attend. This was not the best experience.

Anytime I’m in town this is my goto hotel as it’s always clean, staff is nice an welcoming. The manager on duty at night is always very pleasant an this is the best hotel in Lynchburg.

Downtown Lynchburg, parking is in garage but they let us in employee parking because we were in large F450. Walking into the hotel, very Grand looking. It seems as though they are trying to make it new, not sure if its always been a hotel. Does not currently have restaurant but are working to open one apparently. Our first room was not clean, staff was very accommodating to give us a new room and also offered discount for the inconvenience ( i haven’t seen any refund yet but we shall see). Staff was really very nice and helpful. Our 2nd room was “clean” top blanket had stains (which i took off) the rest were decent. Bathroom had old cast iron tub that had shady repair on drain, broken tiles. Overall the room was ok, not great but ok. Probably wouldn't stay here again but I am extremely picky and its shocking that I even stayed the night. We were only really here from 12am until 9:30am.

It seems as though they are trying to make it new, not sure if its always been a hotel. Does not currently have restaurant but are working to open one apparently. Our first room was not clean, staff was very accommodating to give us a new room and also offered discount for the inconvenience ( i haven’t seen any refund yet but we shall see). Staff was really very nice and helpful. Our 2nd room was “clean” top blanket had stains (which i took off) the rest were decent. Bathroom had old cast iron tub that had shady repair on drain, broken tiles. Overall the room was ok, not great but ok. Probably wouldn't stay here again but I am extremely picky and its shocking that I even stayed the night. We were only really here from 12am until 9:30am.

The hotel needs renovation. I'm sure it had its golden days. Despite this, the hotel is clean, quiet and the staff are friendly. Very well located in the historic downtown. Walking distance to excellent dining options. Free parking.

Great location, free parking in parking deck right next door, was able to check in hours early as hotel was not busy at all. You can picture this hotel in its heyday but has definitely seen better times. Staff was friendly. Comfortable walk all over the business district and to the river walk and various restaurants. My teen thought that it gave creepy abandoned hotel vibes that he is into ...especially in the dark wood elevators and the old era music playing as we walked around with no other guest in sight lol.

This hotel is older, but very clean and has a lot of character! The staff was extremely helpful and friendly and all the support personnel were equally great. The price was very good, and the downtown location was charming. It was just a block away within walking distance to the iconic 90 year old Texas Inn! I will definitely make this my go-to hotel in Lynchburg.

Convenient to restaurants & theater. This hotel is a great location. Parking is free next to the hotel. This is an older hotel with potential. There is a gorgeous bar and restaurant area but is not open. Room was clean. It did take quite a while 8-10 min for the water to get hot for the shower.

The hotel is nice. In the downtown area so very walkable. Parking does seem limited. Also, we were notified upon check in that they've done away with their breakfast so you may want to take that into consideration. The beds also were quite small for two people. Overall, service was good and it met our expectations.

It was a quick trip to see grandchildren and returned to the Grand and the place was rather nice and quiet as always. The staff as friendly as ever and the breakfast was hot and fresh and well stocked. The breakfast attendant was outstanding and was quickly helping multiple guest and items at one time. His personality and hustle was greatly appreciated.

They just got a new key system, which meant that none of the keys actually worked. The card keys. Everytime I went to use it; it wouldn’t even read. I had to walk to the elevator everytime and call the front desk to have them come let me in my room. They are very nice and always brought me back a new key, but that key still wouldn’t work. Also, the showers don’t drain. Literally like at all, standing in a tub full of water trying to take a bath. It was driving me crazy. I’m sure my feet never got clean. Staff is nice, but they do not have breakfast and no daily housekeeping. So reusing the towels really sucked. But it is what it is. Lobby is beautiful. Hotel is nice, but those small things really bring the rating down a lot for me.

No breakfast was a surprise as I chose this place because it advertised having breakfast. Only super brutal coffee and hot water for tea. The outside parking is convenient but difficult for getting in and out. The staff was kind and all apologized for no breakfast which was discontinued just before Thanksgiving weekend 😕. No rebate or offer for compensation for the inconvenience of having no breakfast. A Pop tart from the limited vending machine was unsatisfactory. It seems this hotel is in transition but decisions being made regarding that do not honor their promises or their guests. I hope they can do better. Hotels.com should intervene for the guests who booked there and did not receive what they paid for.

for what I paid, NO BREAKFAST SERVED, NOR WAS THERE COMPLIMENTARY COFFEE???? The hotel did provide me a list of places to eat for both breakfast & dinner (which, by the way, were EXCELLENT) and in walking distance of the hotel. The free parking was a plus.

Staff was excellent. The room had a jacuzzi tub that didn't work. The bathroom ceiling was cracked. The bathroom walls were bubbled an decaying. The room door didn't work correctly. The huge king size room with a sofa, had a tiny 32 in TV about 15 years old. The mattress wasn't comfortable. The biggest problem was no breakfast.

The staff were lovely and the lobby impressive. The rooms are dated— the wallpaper, bathrooms (tiles in shower need a good bleach cleaning), dirty desk chair. Was disappointed when I entered the room to see 2 full size beds instead of queen, as advertised. Apparently all the rooms have the same sized beds, so don’t expect a queen. Location in Lynchburg is good. Hotel was fine for one night.
