Very nice! I stayed one night in Rm 1010 with a view of the church. Very clean. Excellent staff here. Cohesive morale. You can tell they enjoy working there and like their jobs. The gym was under construction so no workout. Sat at the bar for dinner( short ribs) EXCELLENT fare! Parking: Don’t pay for valet parking when you can park right across the street. If you arrive 5 PM or later, you can park on the street until 9 to 10 AM the next day for free.

it was a quick business stay. Nice looking old hotel that was comfortable for a biz traveler. That said, their valet is service is HORRENDOUS. THey have this silly app, that pings you for tips. Then when I used it to call for the car it took almost 1/2 hr get the car. THere was only one valet on a weekday morning in a busy downtown hotel. Thats. bad enough but then I realized a guy near the front counter on a phone had the same jacket as the valet with the valet company name on it. I went to ask him for help and he said he didn't work for the company. I asked him about his jacket and he said he was busy and couldn't help me. There is a paid parking lot across the street from the hotel, I was dumb not to use it. The parking company is a 3rd party but an embarrassment to the hotel.

We enjoyed the stay. The building is historical but is update enough to be nice. The rooftop area was a big plus with great views of the city. We enjoyed a coffee from the lobby and a tasty lunch from the restaraunt. The people were nice and we will stay again.

Superb location. We walked to all museums and restaurants. Helpful and friendly staff. Comfortable beds. Clean. Roof top bar is hopping and views are beautiful.

None of the fitness center treadmills or bikes worked. The hallways smell like mold. Service is mostly indifferent, and the rooftop bar is depressing. It isn't horrible, but this hotel is so mediocre that it's offensive.

Hotel was nice. Quick and easy check in. No on site parking and expensive valet. Lot across the street was $20 per day and convenient. Room was overall clean, but there was some overlooked lint/debris in the middle of the floor. And hair in the shower. But nothing that wasn't easily fixed. But for the price, shouldn't have been there. Only 1 elevator was working, so was longer wait than usual. But hotel is nice and an easy uber ride to the new Amphitheater. Would definitely stay again.

A bit of a mixed review. So I guess it depends on your personal preferences and type of visit. This property is an older property with two old very small elevators. Family and friends booked most of the hotel for my daughter’s wedding. Only one of the elevators was working our entire stay. Very inconvenient for a weekend of wedding activities and quick in and out changes. We were on the 12th floor so stairs were not an option in high heels and long gowns. However, the room was more modern and clean. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was roomy! Towels were new and clean. It is for these reasons I gave a higher score. The valet parking was a bit of a hassle as there is not very much room out front for checking in or out. And it’s expensive. The valet staff were amazing but we ended up parking in paid parking after already paying valet parking because of limited front access. There are restaurants within distance which was convenient because we didn’t want to deal with the hassle of the car. Even though you could go in and out as much as you wanted. There is a rooftop bar that was busy. We did not try the hotel restaurant. I hope this honest review helps you make a decision.

Our room was very clean and comfortable. However, the corridors were badly in need of vacuuming and made the hotel seem a bit seedy. The fact that the wood of the exterior window sills was badly rotting also reinforced the impression that maintenance was not a top priority. For a less expensive hotel, this might be understandable. But for $460 a night room, one has a right to expect excellence.

The front desk agent was wonderful — friendly and helpful — but the rest of the stay was very disappointing. There was hair in the bathroom, shower, and on both beds. The gym below had no towels, no wipes to clean equipment, and all the treadmills were broken. The hotel felt neglected, with spiderwebs on the light fixtures and dirty, stained carpet on the stairs. I used to work for Hilton Corporation and hold a degree in hospitality, so I understand what proper standards should look like. I don’t normally write negative reviews, but this one felt necessary. Sadly, this property does not represent the Hilton brand well.

We got a room with two queen beds because we were travelling with our two children. One of the bed sheets had what looked to be dried blood on it. It has definitely been washed but was enough that we didn't feel comfortable sleeping in that bed. We all had to cram into one queen bed. Staff was very nice and even called up to our room to let us know we left our lights on on our vehicle.

The Front desk clerks were very friendly. The online pictures was as good as it gets. There was some type of fecal matter in the bathroom, that required house keeper removal of it on check in day, another guest receive the same room while I was occupying it. The restaurant attempted to hike the price for the same meal the following day for $6.00 more and retracted it when I informed them of the price the day before and also the price is still the same on the menu, According to the front desk there were no increase in price of the restaurant menu. The toilet was on the brink of overflowing for the duration of the stay, it was within a inch of overflowing, before it would slowly drain. The building could definitely use a renovation throughout, unless the past is the new thing today. I asked for TV remote along with ironing board that were not in the room.

Beautiful building, fabulous and helpful staff. My only complaint was the damp ild carpet in the hallway on my floor, which needs replaces. The room was great and updated.

Hallway smelt strongly of mould, room window frame had gaps to outside making it very noisy, people sceaming on my floor, housekeepers did not want to service room. Service in the restaurant was poor. A very old run down hotel. I will never stay here again.

The most popping rooftop in Birmingham… you take that as you’d like to. Rooms are in need of an update. There’s like one power outlet in the whole room, no towel rods or hooks near shower. No fridge or cool box. No smart TV. Carpet and wallpaper peeling. Staff was nice and overnight valet is great.

I was a little disappointed in the hotel. Their “gym” doesn’t match the photos and has little equipment. The room was humid and wouldn’t really cool down. The shower water would never get truly hot. They also said there was room service and dining but there was no way to look at a menu. Also the WiFi provided did not exist as a network option. Just overall not the best. Probably wouldn’t go again.

Staff Excellent! Eveything Else, Not Good! Beds are Super Firm, Furniture is Very Worn, Chipped paint and dents everywhere, fabric is worn on the seating, nightstands are painted and peeling, the room is very small and tight. the windows are so thin you hear every sound you can think of at night, people walking, talking, car doors closing, regular street traffic, I kept thinking a window must be open. The bathroom shower and sink are very nice but even the ceiling had rust marks and the door was worn in the corners. You could just tell that the property really needed a lot of upgrading, it looks like they tried to do a couple of nice things and left everything else shabby. Not good at all. They could have at least put in a mini fridge next to the desk, that would have been a nice plus for guests. Valet Mike was great and so were the front desk ladies and the cleaning staff. I would only stay here if you need to be in this exact location. The lobby is very pretty but I don't enjoy looking at furniture in such poor condition in my room. :-(

They could have at least put in a mini fridge next to the desk, that would have been a nice plus for guests. Valet Mike was great and so were the front desk ladies and the cleaning staff. I would only stay here if you need to be in this exact location. The lobby is very pretty but I don't enjoy looking at furniture in such poor condition in my room. :-(

The room was very comfortable. We had a corner room with bedroom separated from separate seating area by a hallway which housed closets and coffee station. The bathroom had a large shower with rain type shower head. The only negative was no towel bar and water pressure was a little low. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The valet service for car was prompt.

Cool little hotel - love the art deco design. Only complaint was that it was a noisy street that night: and, early morning there was a marathon in the area & the announcer was quite loud. We were on the 14th floor and heard a lot of street noise.

Room did not have a small fridge, lighting was absolutely horrible, no small sofa or chair to sit on, water never got hot for showering - lukewarm, old water stains on the ceiling in the bathroom around the return register, for $300 a night I DEFINTELY expected better!! No extra blankets! Will not be staying here again

Some of the rooms don’t have AC. The description says they all do. They all do not. If you’re lucky you will get a room with AC if not they might say “maintenance is coming to look at” but they aren’t coming. We demanded a different room and fortunately they were amenable. Our new room was much better.

The breakfast cafe was frustratingly slow and the espresso coffee maker out of service. When we first checked in we were assigned to a room with no windows. Had to come back down and ask for a room that had windows. Elevators have not been inspected in the required time period. One night of our stay the smoke detector went off and we smelled electrical smoke. Immediately left room and had the on duty staff member inspect the smoke detector and found the battery to be week. We asked to be moved to another room and he complied. That room had no ironing board or luggage stand, the next room had no coffee maker. The hotel has maintenance issues, cleanliness issues in the public spaces and restaurant, and is understaffed. I worried about our safety and the safety of other patrons. We will not be staying here again.

it was a quick business stay. Nice looking old hotel that was comfortable for a biz traveler. That said, their valet is service is HORRENDOUS. THey have this silly app, that pings you for tips. Then when I used it to call for the car it took almost 1/2 hr get the car. THere was only one valet on a weekday morning in a busy downtown hotel. Thats. bad enough but then I realized a guy near the front counter on a phone had the same jacket as the valet with the valet company name on it. I went to ask him for help and he said he didn't work for the company. I asked him about his jacket and he said he was busy and couldn't help me. There is a paid parking lot across the street from the hotel, I was dumb not to use it. The parking company is a 3rd party but an embarrassment to the hotel.

DO NOT STAY HERE!! There was no hot water at this hotel my entire stay. I had a group booking and none of my guests had hot water either. They also erroneously charged my card 5 TIMES even though I provided them with the correct payment information before we arrived and during our stay!!! The incompetency was from the top (management) to the bottom (every front desk worker that worked a shift during our stay). They kept telling me they were going to fix the mistake, only for them to turn around and make the mistake again and again! Hilton should be ashamed! My organization will never stay here again.

Hotel all in all was good. But the hotel restaurant left a lot to be desired. Staff is very under trained. Took forever to have my order taken. My food was constantly messed up. Had to ask for my check multiple times.

The staff was awesome beginning with parking and ending with check out. Every single employee was nice, professional, and went above and beyond. The hotel was clean, smelled freshly, and decorated tastefully. The staff was great when it came to directions, parking and recommendations. This will be my go hotel in Birmingham in the future!’

I am not someone who leave negative reviews but my experience was absolutely terrible. I waited over an hour to check in because the room was not ready/cleaned - by the time i was checked in it was after 4:40pm. They let othet people who came in after me check in before me - shows how unorganized they are. The description shows suites having shower/tub combo but they only had showers. The property is OLD and although they did renovated the property the suite is not worth the extra money. it feels tight and narrow. The phone line didn't work. Internet is unbearably slow.

This historic hotel is a gem. While not a large property, it has a lobby bar, restaurant and coffee shop. Downtown Birmingham is a safe place but was pretty much of a ghost town during our 4-day visit. There are restaurants within walking distance, but you have to find them. You can valet parking or use the public lot across the street.

This is a beautiful property. The staff was kind and attentive. The food was good. The roof top bar was amazing, but the set up and slow bar service was a little disappointing. The area is questionable for safety. Overall, the name and location are what you are paying for.

Expected a nicely updated hotel with the historic charm but the hotel was actually just old and outdated. The whole town completely closes down at 11pm on Sunday even when there are events. So disappointing. The hotel area was unimpressive and had zero restaurants or bars nearby. I will not stay here again.

We enjoyed the stay. The building is historical but is update enough to be nice. The rooftop area was a big plus with great views of the city. We enjoyed a coffee from the lobby and a tasty lunch from the restaraunt. The people were nice and we will stay again.

This is a great hotel! We loved the historic appeal. The service was wonderful. We loved the views from the rooftop bar and the drinks were great. We wished there was more seating inside and shade for the outdoor seating.

We had really great service at the hotel bar and restaurant. I saw a lot of bad reviews about their service before booking the hotel. However we had great, friendly service and great food for dinner. Great service at breakfast the next day, but food wasn't as good :( Perfect walking distance to the Alabama Theatre, which was the reason for our stay. Valet parking is expensive, but super convenient, and they were super quick when getting our car. Room was fine, no fridge and the ice bucket was super small. But overall a great stay.

Construction still going on at 10 at night and staff don’t know when it will stop, possible go on all night. Exhausted and was looking forward to a good nights sleep. Unable to do so. Too tired to contemplate moving at this time of night which was all they offered. They should not put guests one floor above all night construction. Wouldn’t have chosen this hotel if I knew. Also no gym and no menu in room for room service. Terrible experience.

The bed was the best hotel bed I've had in a while, but that's where the good ends. The room and bathroom were gross (other people's hair everywhere in the bathroom and crumbs all over the floor and chair) even though they had been "cleaned." The lobby and elevator floors were also really gross.

This hotel is over 100 years old and it seems like they haven't made one upgrade since it's opening. We had a freezing cold shower and the neighborhood was very sketchy at best. Really disappointing property but the staff was super friendly.
