This was the most exquisite place we have ever stayed in. Everything was picture book perfect- and we were treated like royalty! Be sure to go into the castle garden and smell the rose named “Golden Celebration.” It has the best scent ever and was a fitting reminder of our golden anniversary! We highly recommend the history tour for an even richer experience!

This was truly special. I took my 10 year old daughter hoping it would be worth the bus ride from London, and it absolutely exceeded my expectations. We rented Tudor costumes and walked all around taking lots of photos. My daughter was in heaven. The Anna of Cleves room was luxury accommodations and absolutely worth it. The bed was so comfortable! The three course dinner was delicious, and my daughter was allowed to order off the kids menu which she found to be exactly what she wanted. Breakfast was great also! The staff couldn't have been nicer and really seem to enjoy their jobs. I think it is perfect for a one night magical stay. It was a splurge and it felt like we got more than we paid for! We certainly made the most of it and will never forget it.

It was too hot to stay in a castle without Aircond, otherwise a quaint bedroom and interesting castle experience. We were excited to enjoy the legendary Relais & Chateau experience but disappointed at the limited staff on hand and very disappointed with dining experience. In all an unexciting stay with funeral dining atmosphere.

We have just come back from an amazing overnight stay at Thornbury Castle. Everything was perfect! Reception staff were friendly - we were early and they took our bags whilst we relaxed with a drink in the lounge and then a walk around the beautiful walled gardens. Our room was clean and sumptuous. Breakfast was delicious with quality ingredients. Throughout our stay we found staff exceptionally friendly and helpful. The whole castle is beautiful - from the inside décor to the outside. The village is a short walk away and a pleasant place for an afternoon or an evening meal. Highly recommend.

The castle was beyond any expectations we had! The food was beyond wonderful! We had a six course meal in the dining room. We were blown away by the cleanliness, the attentiveness of the staff, the property itself! Everything was just wonderful! We are actually hoping to go again soon!

Absolutely stunning castle. The rooms were done to an amazing standard and were absolutely spotless. The staff were really helpful and friendly. We had to leave early in the morning and they provided us with a pack up breakfast. It was a very special experience.

It was all great. The bed was a bit lumpy. In the morning I felt I was sleeping in a hollow as did my husband and we aren’t big people. Great location excellent staff.

We paid almost $1000 for 2 nights and received a very small room with small bathroom and no counter space. The room was pretty but still very small. There was a bug in the bathroom once. The worst was that it was extremely hot in the room to the point we could not sleep and were sweating in the room. It was over 80 F in the room. We spoke to hotel staff who were polite but did not do anything nor offer any partial refund. Hotels.com also did nothing. Luxury price but not a luxury experience at all

Amazing venue, steeped in history. Our room was beautiful and of a very high standard. The taster menu was exquisite. All staff were attentive and friendly. Would definitely recommend.

This place is amazing! We stayed here as a couple for 4 nights in May. We were given a conplimentary room upgrade because we were celebrating a special occasion, and we were able to add an extra night into our stay abd stay in the same room. We absolutely fell in love with the place. We were only supposed to stay for 3 nights, but added on an extra night and the staff kindly arranged it so that we could stay in the same room. The rooms are absolutely huge! We stayed in a superior deluxe room and it was 45msq! The room was beautifully and elegantly decorated and the bathroom had both a shower and a bath, plus his and hers sinks. The hotel and grounds are stunning and well looked after. The staff are professional and polite. This place is perfect for a romantic stay for couples. Not much to do in the immediate surrounding areas, apart from some country walking. However, the place is less than an hours drive from both Bath and Bristol. My only one fault from the entire stay is that the room didnt have a coffee machine. I think thats a must in 2024. I'd definitely stay here again. Keen to stay in the Henry VIII suite!

We have just come back from an amazing overnight stay at Thornbury Castle. Everything was perfect! Reception staff were friendly - we were early and they took our bags whilst we relaxed with a drink in the lounge and then a walk around the beautiful walled gardens. Our room was clean and sumptuous. Breakfast was delicious with quality ingredients. Throughout our stay we found staff exceptionally friendly and helpful. The whole castle is beautiful - from the inside décor to the outside. The village is a short walk away and a pleasant place for an afternoon or an evening meal. Highly recommend.

This place is amazing! We stayed here as a couple for 4 nights in May. We were given a conplimentary room upgrade because we were celebrating a special occasion, and we were able to add an extra night into our stay abd stay in the same room. We absolutely fell in love with the place. We were only supposed to stay for 3 nights, but added on an extra night and the staff kindly arranged it so that we could stay in the same room. The rooms are absolutely huge! We stayed in a superior deluxe room and it was 45msq! The room was beautifully and elegantly decorated and the bathroom had both a shower and a bath, plus his and hers sinks. The hotel and grounds are stunning and well looked after. The staff are professional and polite. This place is perfect for a romantic stay for couples. Not much to do in the immediate surrounding areas, apart from some country walking. However, the place is less than an hours drive from both Bath and Bristol. My only one fault from the entire stay is that the room didnt have a coffee machine. I think thats a must in 2024. I'd definitely stay here again. Keen to stay in the Henry VIII suite!

The castle was beyond any expectations we had! The food was beyond wonderful! We had a six course meal in the dining room. We were blown away by the cleanliness, the attentiveness of the staff, the property itself! Everything was just wonderful! We are actually hoping to go again soon!

Amazing building, gardens and history. Lovely staff. Food great, but portions small. The singular for ravioli is raviolo, so I would suggest taking something for a midnight snack, you may need it.

This was truly special. I took my 10 year old daughter hoping it would be worth the bus ride from London, and it absolutely exceeded my expectations. We rented Tudor costumes and walked all around taking lots of photos. My daughter was in heaven. The Anna of Cleves room was luxury accommodations and absolutely worth it. The bed was so comfortable! The three course dinner was delicious, and my daughter was allowed to order off the kids menu which she found to be exactly what she wanted. Breakfast was great also! The staff couldn't have been nicer and really seem to enjoy their jobs. I think it is perfect for a one night magical stay. It was a splurge and it felt like we got more than we paid for! We certainly made the most of it and will never forget it.

Weekend stay at Thornbury Castle. Fascinating, historic castle. We really enjoyed our stay. The restaurant was excellent and breakfast likewise. Our room was at the top of its own tower, with a fantastic bathroom. Great shower, although a bath would have been nice. The public rooms are amazing, with lots of character. Bit cold this weekend, but it was snowing outside.

It was too hot to stay in a castle without Aircond, otherwise a quaint bedroom and interesting castle experience. We were excited to enjoy the legendary Relais & Chateau experience but disappointed at the limited staff on hand and very disappointed with dining experience. In all an unexciting stay with funeral dining atmosphere.

The property is amazing, nice gardens. The staff are not warm as we expected. The dinner menu is not much of varieties and too expensive and the wine is also too expensive Room is nice and the bed is comfortable I do not think we will return

Amazing venue, steeped in history. Our room was beautiful and of a very high standard. The taster menu was exquisite. All staff were attentive and friendly. Would definitely recommend.

Grounds and buildings were beautiful. All you could expect marrying old and new. Actual rooms transported you back in time but with modern amenities that did not detract at all. Fulfilled a dream of mine and my son’s to stay in a castle. Staff were professional and welcoming. We had tea service which was done well. We are tea lovers and do tea service often back in the States. Dinner was phenomenal!! The dishes were 5 star Michelin and taste was out of this world. Drinks were also hand crafted and unique. All in all great overnight stay. Worth every penny for the experience delivered. Would return again.

Beautiful Castle, serene and relaxed, with amazing food and great service. Rather expensive but you get what you pay for. We have stayed multiple times before and will I'm sure stay again, the service and the atmosphere are always fantastic.

This is a beautiful property. We dined like royalty and the breakfast was very very good. Our restaurant waiter was very professional and did a great job describing the wine pairings. Our room was truly magnificent. We stayed in the queen Mary room. It was truly a bucket list item for me. The castle is a must do for history lovers and romantics.
