The Bay Tree Hotel

Excellent position, friendly staff, clean. Breakfast was very good although as it’s freshly cooked you do have to wait especially if it’s busy. We also ate in the restaurant one night and it was the best meal of the weekend. If we come to Burford again we will definitely stay here

Perfect location for visiting restaurants and pubs in Burford on foot and a short drive from other beautiful areas of the Cotswolds. Large, clean room with comfy bed. Very quiet - no noise disturbances. Lovely breakfast.

Our sleep was also badly affected by the noise. The kitchen door was constantly banging until around 11:30pm and then started again at approximately 7:00am. The window could only be opened a fraction, which made the room feel uncomfortable. The shower was another major disappointment. The water pressure was so poor that it took around half an hour to properly wash the soap and shampoo from my hair. This is simply not what I would expect from a hotel charging £301 per night.Breakfast was also disappointing. Although there was a buffet, we felt pressured to order a cooked breakfast. Once we had ordered, our table was not cleared and nobody came back to ask if we wanted more tea or coffee, despite there appearing to be plenty of staff around. The service felt disorganised and inattentive. Toast arrived before the cooked breakfast and was cold by the time the hot food arrived.I had also contacted the hotel beforehand to let them know that it was my partner’s birthday. Sadly, nothing was done to acknowledge this or make the occasion feel special. When you have informed a hotel that you are celebrating a special occasion, you would expect at least a small gesture. I appreciate that the hotel is in a desirable location and that this is reflected in the price. However, at £301 per night, I expected a much higher standard of accommodation and service.I have stayed in many hotels over the years, including some considerably less expensive, and this was genuinely disappointing because

Wonderful stay at the bay tree hotel. Very quaint and full of character. Just off the main stretch in Burford with a large car park to the rear for hotel guests. Comfy bed, hot shower, Molton Brown amenities. Had everything I needed. Staff were excellent, especially the very helpful Aimee at reception who went out of her way to track down and return an item I left.

Lovely hotel just off the main road, staff very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was very nice with a good choice. Would certainly stay again next time I’m in the Cotswolds.
