Convenient location with parking in heart of Tonbridge.

A creaking floor in an old building is quaint but the whole of the floor creaks, bedroom corridor is is too much. The room had a basic clean but the toilet needs descaling. It's not nice to use a toilet like this. The carpets are threadbare to the point our room had a big rip in the carpet which is a trip hazard that I had daily. Staff are pleasant. Parking good. Bar void of people, atmosphere and everything. The biggest bug bare was no evening food. Outside it boasts about food and grill. Reality, no evening dining

This stay was a bit of a disaster. First of all i need to say that the receptionist that i met in the morning ( young lady) most helpful as we needed to leave a vehicle in the car park for the day. This is an old property - 200 year plus i seem to recall.This may explain some of my issues, but not all. It was a hot day but past the heatwave. My room was frankly unbearable and the window had been left just about open to get a bit of air in but it could not make up for the heat in the room. When arrived there was another guest asking if he could get another room due to heat, so it was not just my room. There was a fan - but this had obviously fallen over a few times and as a result did not work correctly, so it didn't really help. I went for food. Restaurant closed until further notice and the staff couldn't expand on this..Had to go out and eat in the end. Went back to the bar, but no one in sight to serve and it was very uninviting to say the least. Wireless - did not work in my room, so i couldn't work. My phone thermometer in the room was reading 29oC and this did not change until 3 am when i eventually dropped off. The bedroom looked as if it was re-furbed a few years ago but poor finish and photocopied labels are peeling off which didn't look great. Room comfortable but the hotel is very tired rather than old. Looks as if they started to re-furb but ran out of money. Shame

We are repeat visitors to the Rose & Crown. There's no other hotel with location and free parking. As usual we had a twin bed room in the annex. The beds were okay, not fantastic. Room was clean, and the hotel was quiet at night. All the staff we spoke to were friendly and helpful. Although, we did have to ask for towels and loo roll for the bathroom when we arrived. Shower was the biggest let down - nonexistent water pressure - but there's a bath if you want it instead.

Very good value in a good position near the castle. In the process of being upgraded I think, the restaurant only offered breakfast, which was good. There is a bar. Staff were very polite and helpful.

Friendly staff, great location and within easy walking distance to the train station, rooms are a little tired but comfortable. On site parking available foc but quite tight in places.

Very very tired hotel, 'garden view' was just weeds & a fence. No resturant open atvtime of visit, breakfast was ok, but chairs fir example peeling their covers. Clearly bought to be a rebuild but only paint brush being used duringvthe visit, the fundamentals are still old & need totsl referb to be like what Best Western hotel's used to be.

Being refurbished so restaurant was closed and some facilities lacking. But breakfast was good and the room was fine. The staff were excellent and very helpful and friendly.

A very third rate experience. Ripped & stained net curtains. Wallpaper coming off wall. Dirty hand basin (not cleaned from previous guest). Bathroom shelf not level - items fell off. Smeared mirrors and tiles. Generally grubby communal areas. Marked and stained furniture. Less than comfy beds. The only good thing was the location. Needs a complete overhaul and brought up to modern expectations. At £60 a night off season, an expensive & less than pleasant stay.

The property was in very poor condition. Rooms very, very basic. Showers not working properly. Dirty worn carpets ..wallpaper falling off the wall. Breakfast extremely basic. Dirty entrance to rooms with cigarette buts everywhere. Very poor for expensive price. Will definitely not be returning.

So shocked how bad this place is. Urine on the toilet seat. Ripped bed sheets. Extremely hot room despite all windows being open. Dirty table and bin in bathroom. Paper thin walls and very smelly.

Best Western, worst would be a better name. Ripped carpet, dirt bathroom. Soiled toilet to name a few! Avoid this place at all costs!

The bathroom was absolutely filthy. Hair and grime all around the toilet, walls and shower curtain. The shower dribbled out with no pressure at all.

- Room was not very clean ... very dirty behind the bed. - Room was not made for my last night there. - Nobody was at the reception when I was checking out (even though they advertise 24 hour reception). - No hot water during my last 2 days. - Will not use for any future trip I am planning.

My stay at the hotel above the Rose and Crown was genuinely awful from start to finish. When I checked in, the room wasn’t just dirty, it was unhygienic to a shocking level. There were used condoms in the toilet, human faeces left in the toilet, and old pizza boxes scattered around. I asked to be moved, hoping it was a one-off, but the second room wasn’t any better. Again, there was human faeces in the toilet, showing the rooms hadn’t been cleaned at all. To make things worse, when I ordered a drink downstairs, the pint I was served had visible floaters in it. When I asked for a refund, I was told they were unable to provide one, despite the drink clearly being undrinkable. The entire place felt like a genuine health hazard. Because of the appalling conditions, we checked out just a few hours later. The whole experience was completely unacceptable and extremely unpleasant. I have photos but they aren’t “family friendly” to share on this platform AVOID!!!

The cleanliness and condition of my room were unacceptable. There were cobwebs in the bedroom, and the wallpaper was ripped in several areas. The bathroom was also in very poor condition, not clean with lots of visible mould, a dirty shower curtain, and multiple black stains across different areas of the ceiling. In addition, the carpet outside the bathroom was damp throughout my stay, and the room had not been properly cleaned, with sticky stains left on the furniture. The bar service was also far below standard. The drink selection was extremely limited, with basic options such as lemonade and orange juice unavailable. I also found that the photos on your website are misleading and do not reflect the current state of the rooms, particularly the bathrooms, which are in significantly worse condition than depicted. These should be updated to accurately show the actual quality.

Arrived and the first room we were allocated was grim. - The toilet didn’t flush - The toilet was dirty, the kind of dirty where it doesn’t look like it’s been cleaned properly for some time and simple deep clean would have done the job - Sink also covered in old grime, again easily sorted with a deep clean - Carpet that was snagged and dirty - Bed - one of its legs looked to be holding on for dear life - No loo roll - Cobwebs - Grubby old yellowing shower curtain - General stains and splashes on wall - No shower gel etc just one small bar or soap to share - Complimentary tray (tea, coffee, water etc) nothing like the photo. Asked for a change of room due to none flushing toilet and the customer service was terrible. General body language and the tone of the conversation made us feel very uncomfortable and like we were very much an inconvenience. Second room marginally better, but still no loo roll, stains on walls, poor quality mattress and dirty toilet again. We were meant to be staying two nights but only did one and booked ourself into another local hotel at our cost. We just didn’t feel comfortable, particularly safe or welcome. Says it has a restaurant, it doesn’t and the whole place was just tired and feels like it’s on its way out. When I used the toilet in the main reception, AGAIN no toilet roll.

We had a twin room, my bed was desperately uncomfortable with a sagging middle - it needs replacing. Fortunately, there was a 3rd bed in the room, so slept there.

Very outdated, room was dusty, stuffy and stunk of cigarettes. Bed was so uncomfortable, didn’t sleep at all. Mattress so soft might as well be non existent. Just overall poor. Positives: very central, car park included.

This old Hotel is sadly showing its age. Being on the main road we had constant traffic which kept us up along with the hot room.

Old building so expected some issues but shower was not good, I’m not tall and had to bob down to get showered and the temperature was impossible to get reasonable! Also not doing evening meals even tho the welcome pack in your room gives meal times for evening meals!? Room on Road front so noisy!

Very dated meds a new mattress and headboard. Inside window frame dirty. Very basic room

Been staying in this hotel many times over the years and it is sadly going down hill. Whilst the main hotel is older and quirky the annex part in the car park really needs an overhaul. Lots of little things like blown bulbs, bathroom heating not working, missing sink plugs, no plastic tumblers in the rooms anymore, badly stocked bar..I could go on. The whole place is just looking very tired and all the little comforts in the rooms are no longer provided.

Really liked the old fashioned feel of the property and room. There is a bit of noise from the msin road outside but I ubderstand there isn't a lot they can do about that. Would stay here again.

The hotel is very dated and in need of repair - whilst price is reasonable and staff helpful the environment is in need of a refurbishment . It could be a lovely hotel as it has a lot of history .

Blood stain on the sheets, no evening meals, things falling from the ceiling in the breakfast area, no tea out for breakfast, no pastries like advertised and very limited fruit options. Staff only doing their best as it only seemed to be one person to cover the desk and breakfast or the desk and the bar at any one time.

I stayed here whilst attending an event at TOFS Very convenient for Tonbridge and railway station. Always staff available to help. Comfortable rooms, i would stay again if visiting Tonbridge.

Reception and Bar Staff very helpful and friendly during stay

No one around to assist on arrival firstly. (1st person I encountered just said “someone will turn up shortly”) Room was dated and not the cleanest I’ve seen. It’s a pub with rooms above BUT the pub wasn’t open. Cheap and “not so” cheerful I suppose

Fantastic polite staff friendly

I stayed for 2 nights whilst working in the area and despite some terrible reviews, I found it to be more than reasonable, with good access to local amenities, parking was great on site and I was able to use it for the 3 days of work, and it was clean too. Staff were friendly and helpful, the coffees from the bar were also decent, and it was quiet at night too. The bed was a little old and had seen better days but was fine for being comfortable, the room was a little old fashioned and the floors were a bit noisy with creaky floorboards, but it is an old pub, so I felt it was fitting with the character. I'd happily book again.

I was impressed with the cleanliness of The Rose & Crown Hotel, I found the staff friendly and extremely helpful. I will definitely be staying again.

Staff were really nice and attentive, though surprised we only had one bath towel for two guests, hotel is just a bit tired and in need of some TLC though the rooms are spotlessly clean. Location is wonderful, Tonbridge is a lovely town

Friendly, helpful staff with great customer service. Lovely, comfortable room at a good price.

This is an old building so, if you like creaking floorboards and a warren of rooms, it is your sort of place. Conveniently located at the top of Tonbridge High Street, with car parking, it provides easy access to the surrounding area. Breakfast was excellent.

Great hotel on Tonbridge High Street.

Overnight stay as our house was full with visiting family. The hotel is old & quirky but the room was fine for a night.

Good location in centre of town. Facilities could do with an update as annex area dated and rooms need a refurb, although clean and had all things needed. Staff really friendly and helpful.

A lovely, quirky old building. It was very clean. The staff were friendly, happy to help. I found plenty of parking in their rear car park. One of are mattresses was very flat. My partner didnt mind. We had a lovely expensive here. We would stay again.

An overnight stay en route to the West Country. All members of staff were very helpful and Receptionist was welcoming and informative. The hotel and my room was comfortable, well appointed and clean. Being situated in the high street, the hotel is convenient for access to Tonbridge town centre, the park and castle and an ideal centre for exploring the local countryside. Highly recommended.

Pleasantly surprised after reading negative reviews. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was warm, clean and comfortable. Yes, the floors creaked but its what you would expect in an old building such as this. Plenty of hot water for bath/shower. However shower lost pressure due to lots of people showering at the same time each morning. There was a good choice for breakfast and cooked to order. Excellent location in the centre of town.

Great location in High Street but overpriced for the standard. The hotel has seen better days and would benefit from a refresh. Breakfast was a bit limited and service at breakfast not the best - had to hunt around for some ketchup and pepper and vacated tables were being wiped with strong cleaning liquid smell whilst we were still eating! Bathroom didn't have any shower or bath gel and our room overlooked a very unkempt area with deep weeds growing all over the place included over the generators. Really doesn't feel like this place is very well kept - I don't think £134 for one night is justified!

Appreciate it was a hot day but the rooms and corridors were boiling, a fab in the room would have helped. The breakfast was sub par too, no juice, no tea, some food was cold
