Carvi Beach Hotel

Very good location, good healthy breakfast, nice pool rooftop, and lots to do around the area. Could have a cleaner/updated gym, but overall was a good stay.

The Carvi was great hotel with its beautiful view of the Atlantic Ocean and proximity to Lagos Old Town. It had a wonderful roof top pool and included a nice breakfast each morning. Also next to the hotel was a fantastic boardwalk/walking trail overlooking the beaches. Would definitely stay here again.

Hotel mit schönem Blick aufs Wasser, tollem Frühstücks- u. Restaurant-Bereich. Die Zimmer waren sauber sowie ausreichend groß und hatten eine sehr große Terrasse. Nicht so angenehm war, dass die Poolbar bereits um 21:00 Uhr geschlossen wurde und wir im Restaurant, sehr höflich, aber darauf hingewiesen wurden, dass der Ausschank von Getränken ohne Essen nicht möglich sei. Ausflüge mit dem Auto, sollte man vorher so planen, dass die Rückkehr erst am Abend erfolgt, erst dann gibt es eine reale Chance einen Parkplatz zu ergattern. Das Hotel hat keine eigenen Parkplätze. Der Parkbereich vor dem Hotel ist zwar relativ groß, dem Andrang der Strandbesucher aber nicht gewachsen.

Parking was public parking right near a very popular beach which made it difficult to get a spot in the afternoon. Staff were awesome!

Overall, stay was fine. Parking is a mess and the staff don’t care to assist with it. They rent towels for a 10EU deposit- cash only, but you can only change them every 3 days (not what they told us initially). Breakfast was fine, coffee is awful. Beach is so packed as Camilo beach was covered in seaweed. The beach area smelled like sewage. The location is fine if you don’t plan to leave it but not the most walkable location if you do. Pool was fine- nice views.

Unfortunately the pool was closed for maintenance which we weren't informed of when booking. The property itself is fine and very clean, but nothing special. Comfy beds and good pillows. Great shower. Staff were pleasant enough but had minimal interaction with them. The nearest beach was covered with an algae which you had to wade through to swim. We were told by locals this was the worst affected beach and found more pleasant beaches about 20min walk away. Within walking distance to town but if you don't like walking Bolt cabs were cheap. We walked and found it ok and very safe.

We specifically picked this hotel as it advertised parking. On our very first day there we left to do laundry in our rental car and returned at 11am only to circle the parking lot for at least a half hour. If you plan on staying here don’t bring a car. The hotel is attached to a very popular public beach and nothing is available until late at night. Staff were rude when we asked if we could parking in the empty spots designated out front (see picture). On our second day we told the from desk that our shower leaked from the hand attachment and after 5 days no one came to fix it. The shower pressure was definitely an issue. They had problems with plumbing as we could hear the sink gurgle when you flushed the toilet and all they the night you could still hear this. Towel deposit for the beach was 20 euros cash and staff would not even give you an extra towel. Although the beach and walking paths are close just stay somewhere else and take the $4.50 train trolley that stops right there. Pictures make the hotel look new but it is far from that, infact there is a large derelict building with graffiti all over it next door.

Great location right next to a beach, and the entrance to the walking path to the lighthouse one way, and city center the other way. Great for getting in a walk/run or taking scenic photos. The front staff was great, the room was spacious and clean, we had a giant balcony w loungers table and chairs and a drying rack. We were in a Jr Suite. The continental breakfast was very generous. The pool was clean and had a beautiful view with ample loungers available and a sun deck. 4/5 stars because of the gym. Calling that room a gym is a gross overstatement. There were 2 pulley systems, but only 1 bar and a hodgepodge of handles. No free weights. You can incline bench, but not flat bench. 1 set of 4Kg kettle bells. And the morning I went down it was infested with flies. If a true gym is important to your vacation -go elsewhere.

Room 401 hase sewer gass coming from the shower. Front desk states it is just the ocean and it is not. Restaurant is amazing and the only nice thing about the hotel. The bed was old pillows were well used and it was not a good experience overall

Rooms were basic but very clean. Rooftop Sun deck, pool and lounge were good. Breakfast was excellent. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Fantastic location too!!!! Nothing negative to report….

Wir waren 5 Tage im Carvi Beach. Leider hatten wir einen Balkon zur Seite heraus ohne Ausblick (Blick direkt auf eine Wand, da war aber eh kaum im Zimmer waren, störte dies nicht). Das Frühstück war sehr gut mit vielem frischen Obst. Die Zimmer waren praktisch eingerichtet mit Safe und kleine Kühlschrank und sauber. Die Matratze war recht unbequem. Die Zimmergröße war super. Leider tropfte es sowohl auf unserem Flur aus der Wand und auch von der Decke bei uns im Badezimmer, wenn andere Gäste über uns duschten. Die Lage ist super um die Strände von Lagos zu erkunden. In ca 20 min erreicht man zu Fus die Altstadt von Lagos mit zahlreichen Essensmöglichleiten. Direkt vor dem Hotel sind ausreichend Parkplätze vorhanden. Für einen Kurztripp an der Algarve sehr zu empfehlen

€200+/night for mold, fake eggs, and hostile service? Absolutely not. I’ve stayed in 40+ hotels across Europe and North America. Carvi Hotel was one of the worst price-to-quality ratios I’ve encountered. I rarely leave reviews, but this experienced left me with no choice but to WARN other travellers. The reality doesn’t match the photos. Our room had visible mold and rust in the shower, no bathroom ventilation, and filthy AC filters. By day three we were both feeling sick and checked out early. The breakfast was inedible. Eggs bulked with filler, instant coffee pretending to be fresh, sugary water instead of juice. We both got stomach aches. At this price, it’s insulting. Service was dismissive to hostile. One staff member was great. The rest gave eye rolls for simple requests like beach towels or purchasing a drink. We felt unwelcome from start to finish. Common areas reeked of industrial cleaner — more hospital than hotel. When I tried speaking with management, I was told no one was on-site and to “contact Expedia.” We’d booked four nights but left after three. To the owner: We saved for months for this trip. Your hotel didn’t just disappoint us — it soured our impression of Portugal. At over €200/night, travellers expect clean rooms, edible food, and basic respect. You’re currently failing on all three. Wake up. This isn’t personal — it’s a fair warning to other travellers.

Overall this property is the good because of its location. The property itself is ok. I will say their cleanliness and staff is excellent. Only major problem I had was there was ants in my room and a worm I found in the bathroom the first morning I was there. I’m assuming the worm came up the shower drain. I didn’t bother making a complaint because after that I didn’t see another worm and I blocked the entryway where the ants were coming from. Last thing I will add is it’s definitely overpriced for the season and the facility in general.

The property is situated in a beautiful location. It's quiet, close to a large beach, and still a walkable distance to the town core. The rooms themselves are fairly nice, clean, and the breakfast has a decent variety. The biggest downside is that the wifi is horribly inconsistent so if you needed to work or use it for any reason you need to make sure you are right beside an access point/wifi extender. Other than that it's a good option for a relaxing beach vacation

Room was clean and comfortable. However, I was on the third floor, right below the restaurant and I could hear everything while it was open. Since 8am to after closing. I could hear all the chairs moving while they were cleaning. If you stay there try to get another floor, maybe. The place is excellent and in a great location.

This hotel is located at the best area close to the beach with fantastic view to the rocks and the sea. It is a 3 star hotel with not enough facilities at the room. No coffee machine or kettle, no iron in the room, no tissue paper in the bathroom ( toilet paper was available), however the room was very clean. The top roof pool was nice with beautiful view to the beach. Staff are so so.

Staff was not very approachable. No in room coffee or tea facilities. Provide Tiny bottle of Water as courtesy.

The hotel is okay. We rented 3 rooms and perhaps if we were on a different floor, I would have liked it more. Pros: Location is right next to the beach. It is close enough to other beaches as well as being about 15 minutes from downtown Lagos which has so many restaurants. Cons: No coffee machine in the room and breakfast does not begin until 8 am. The convince stores around there are cash only.

Came to Portugal for our honeymoon, we booked this hotel primarily for the location- stayed here for 10 nights, loved how close it was to the beach and a walk into downtown Lagos for food. Our overall experience was okay, some things I didn’t like was we had to pay for towels to borrow then got our deposit back once we returned the towels. Well one of our towels dropped on the balcony below us from the wind (we could see it) and when we told the front desk they said they make a note of it but we never ended up getting our deposit back for it… Hotel rooms were not cleaned everyday and at weird times. Beds were made almost everyday but not fresh sheets (I know this because there was sand in my bed which wouldn’t have happened if they were fresh) not the end of the world but unusual for a hotel in my experience traveling. There was one day / night where the entire 4th floor (where our room was) had no wifi. To the right of the hotel is a beautiful beach, to the left is a run down hotel that the cartel took over. We always walked towards the right and avoided the left when going downtown. Overall we would book this hotel again primarily to be close to the beach and walking trails. Breakfast included was good.

Well located. The suite was worth the Price. Confortable beds. Amazing view. Cons: if your room is underneath the patio or restaurant, you will be awaken by 8 by the chairs moving around on the floor.

Great location !!! Couldn’t have asked for a better spot. Rooms are good- bathrooms need an upgrade. Slow close on the doors would be nice because you hear them slamming at all hours. Great breakfast buffet.

Beach access and quality the best!! Apart from a seaweed problem at one end, but not a problem. Room was simple but spacious and airy with stunning views of sea and sunrises. (Junior Suite 4th floor).

Had a wonderful stay at this beautiful property. Staff was very helpful upon arrival and provided excellent concierge services, from helping up book a speedboat tour to the Benagil caves, to making a dinner reservation for us at a nearby restaurant, to offering to allow us to continue using the facilities after our check out. Room was very nice, clean and spacious. The balcony was great with the towel rack, which came in handy after a day at the beach. Property is situated right in front of the Praia Dona Ana beach, which is a very picturesque beach. The restaurant upstairs is great - breakfast is delicious with many options and dinner was excellent! The hotel is close enough to the town center / Old Town to walk to. Surrounding area has a quiet and relaxed vibe. Overall loved my stay here and would definitely come back if I visit Lagos again.

We stayed in the Junior Deluxe Suite and felt super safe as two young women on vacation! Firstly - Bogdan and Carlos were INCREDIBLE hotel staff who were super attentive, kind, went out of their way to help us during our stay. Incredible service! The beach was super accessible, ~20 min walk to Old Town Lagos with a wide range of choices for food, bars, and shopping! Room was immaculate - balcony was HUGE and had slight view of the ocean. Did I mention the beach was a one minute walk away! Thank you Carvi!!!! ☺️☺️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Disappointed by Management namely Silvia Saved Only by Wonderful Staff I stayed at Carvi Beach Hotel recently, and while the location is beautiful and a few staff members were truly outstanding, my overall experience was unfortunately marred by poor management. During my stay, I had an issue with towels that was handled unprofessionally by the manager, Silvia. Instead of resolving the matter with basic courtesy and hospitality, she was dismissive and unhelpful, making me feel more like an inconvenience than a valued guest. This was extremely disappointing, especially in a service-based industry where guest comfort should be the priority. That said, I want to highlight two staff members who went above and beyond: Carlos and Bohart. Both were genuinely kind, attentive, and made every effort to make my stay more comfortable. Their warmth and professionalism stood in stark contrast to my experience with management and are the only reason I would consider giving this hotel another chance. The hotel itself has potential — great location, decent facilities — but unfortunately, poor leadership can overshadow even the best views. My hope is that management addresses these issues so that future guests are treated with the respect and hospitality they deserve.

I accidentally booked the wrong dates for this property ( same dates wrong month) and reached out immediately to request a date change. Despite multiple polite attempts to explain the situation well in advance, the property declined to assist in any way. Even after Expedia contacted the hotel twice on our behalf, they still refused to help or offer any flexibility. We were not asking for a refund — just to adjust the dates — and the room was never used. The lack of empathy and customer support was disappointing and frustrating. If you’re considering staying here, just be aware that in the event of an honest mistake or issue, you may not receive any support or consideration from the property.

This hotel is in an excellent location. Close to walking paths and a beach with a view of the ponta da piedade rock formations. It is about a 10 to 15 minute walk to a grocery store that has a laundromat. The hotel itself has much to offer: a roof top pool with stunning views and a snack bar, a gym in the basement and the best breakfast I've ever had at a hotel served in the restaurant at the top of the building. We were there for a week and enjoyed all the breakfast servings. We had a meal in the restaurant and the food was excellent. Staff were friendly, attentive and helpful. I was even able to get the back story on an abandoned apartment building we walked by every day going into town. We stayed at the Carvi in early May, 3 weeks into our month long vacation to Portugal. It was an ideal place for us to relax and rejuvenate. Very good value for what we paid to stay.

The hotel is in a great location. It is a short 15 minute walk to downtown, and it is adjacent to a wonderful beach. The breakfast had nice selections and made a great start to each day. We got a parking spot each day when we needed it, but it could be an issue during busy times as it is not reserved for the hotel. Walking to downtown for dinner was a treat, but I'm happy we stayed outside of downtown as it is quieter and more relaxed. I would suggest getting an Uber or Bolt for the ride back to the hotel at night.

The breakfast included has good food choice. The dinner at the rooftop restaurant has good quality food at a reasonable price.

The rooftop restaurant was excellent as were the inclusive breakfasts. A big shout out to our favourite waiter Pavlo, who made our experience very memorable. Always a smile on his face whether on the morning or evening shift.

The location is good, near the sightseeing spots. The hotel restaurant is very nice, good views. Dinner price is reasonable, food is delicious. And the breakfast is also very good.

This location was perfect for us. It has direct assess to Praia Dona Ana which was a great place to hang out and enjoy the surrounding. In the evening we would walk (about a 20 min walk) to Old Town. Breakfast was great, lots of variety. I would stay here again when I visit Lagos!

Walking distance to Praia Donna Ana Beach. About 20 min walk to Old town Lagos, or 5 min Uber ride. I wish the hot breakfast items were actually hot. Overall, enjoyed our stay there.
