The hotel staff were excellent. The food was very good. The room was comfortable (accessible room) but could do with refresh. The carpet was quite stained in places, the tiles on floor of shower were sharp around the drain, the shower taps were roughly fixed to shower wall and very difficult to turn off, there was no air-conditioning in bedroom, no safe, and key card kept failing. The hotel also offered an indoor pool. However, it was always so busy as the hotel opens it up to non - residents. It was mainly full of children so not relaxing.

Really large rooms, comfortable beds, great fitness facilities and lovely breakfast. Next door to a huge Dunnes and other convenient stores. A bit of a walk from the town centre but a great option if you’re exploring the area. North Americans will appreciate the large rooms and easy parking!

I booked two days before arrival as a solo traveller. I received an email the morning of arrival to tell me that the leisure Centre wasn't open. I called them to be told that it was closed , probably for the duration of my two night stay. I explained that I was unhappy with this and only booked because I wanted to use the pool etc. Eventually they made enquiries and organised a complimentary use of the pool in another hotel. However I had to book a time and it was only available until 6.30 pm..I would have liked to have use in the evening. The only option open to me was to use it the following morning until lunchtime, as it closed for lunch. This conversation was going on as I was travelling to the hotel. They upgraded me to a suite, which was nice. Breakfast was not included in my package. I ordered breakfast , room service, on my last day and as there was no pen in the room, I had to use my lipstick to mark what I wanted on the list. I didn't ask for a full Irish breakfast but I got one. And was asked to pay for it on the spot!! There was no butter or jam with the breakfast tray. And when it did arrive I was asked to pay again! Before leaving I paid for a full Irish breakfast as I was told that it was what I got! I arrived at the hotel feeling very annoyed and left feeling the same way. Very disappointed with my stay and would recommend calling before you book to ensure that facilities are available as they do not update their website.

Staff and service was great the down fall was the small family rooms with one small window that could not open the full way there was a fan in the room but didn’t really help with the heat.the pool is very small no kids pool as advertised, there is a fitness class on every morning from 9-10 am which take over the pool but guest are not informed of this before hand which means guests can’t really access the pool till after 10 am and are left waiting at the side of the pool if you don’t know this. Lockers in dressing rooms were broken was had to find one that locked.

Gehobeneres grosses Hotel mit sehr grosszügigen Zimmern und freundlichem Personal. Im Zimmer hat es alles, was man benötigt und die Betten waren sehr bequem. Das Schwimmbad mit den Saunen und dem Wirlpool ist allerdings sehr in die Jahre gekommen und uns tränten die Augen nach dem Schwimmen. Es war auch sehr schmutzig. Das Essen im Restaurant war lecker und die Bedienung freundlich. Das Frühstücksbuffet war grosszügig mit warmen und kalten Speisen.

The noise level was off the charts and they couldn’t do anything about it on a Sat night. From kids running between rooms slamming doors and yelling in the hallways even after telling them to please be quiet is wild enough from 9:30-11:30pm, but we were not told that we have a room right above the restaurant and that they play live music until 11:15pm some nights including the night we were there. It vibrates through the floor and even with ear plugs, it was loud enough to sing to the lyrics. We would have changed rooms knowing that because we had an early start. I understand this is a hotel and there are many noise factors, but there has to be some level of expectation towards people’s comfort. They should invest in soundproofing their ceiling in the restaurant long term or warn people upfront short term. The foyer was pretty and has a beautiful perfume spray. The breakfast in the morning was top notch. The finishes in the room and hallways don’t match the age of the foyer and restaurant but I’m sure they will Reno eventually. Our room smelled like cigarette smoke also, which was off putting, but thankful my parents didn’t get that room because my Mom is allergic to it.

Zimmer ohne Klimaanlage, Art der Oberbetten nicht sommerlich, zu dick. Unser Stockwerk wurde renoviert, was eigentlich zu begrüßen wäre, als wir jedoch aus dem Lift ausstiegen sah der Bodenbelag aus als hätte jemand seinen Mülleimer ausgelehrt. Es lagen noch Reste vom abgeschnittenen Teppich und andere Teile der durchgeführten Arbeiten auf dem Boden verteilt. An der Rezeption wurde kein Hinweis gegeben das dort gearbeitet wird. Als 1. Eindruck als Gast sehr schlecht

Second time staying at the Talbot. Our previous stay in June was really good and so I decided to book again for this trip. Overall the hotel is nice with a newly opened bar and restaurant area. Rooms are spacious with 2 beds and a decent bathroom. This stay unfortunately we noticed some areas which could do with improvement. On arrival (6pm) there were no staff to be seen. We stood at reception for quite a few minutes before a passing staff member went through the back and a receptionist came out. The receptionist was really lovely so this made up for the wait. We were given room 405. On the way to the room we were shocked by the state on the carpets which looked like they had been splattered with bleach all the way up the corridor. Not good for a four star hotel. The room also had a large stain on the floor which looked like coffee and a strange smell. This soon went with the window open. The following day we needed a second key card. Again no one on reception so we had another wait till a cleaner went and got a receptionist out. The following morning we were woken by a smoke alarm going off twice and when it stopped a letter placed under the door stating someone on your floor has been smoking and if they find you smoking in the room you will be charged for the deep cleaning of the room etc. This sounded very accusatory. Considering myself and my husband have never smoked we felt offended by such a letter. Unfortunately I don’t think we will chose the Talbot again.

Very disappointing stay overall. Both nights we stayed there were weddings on which 1st night went on til after 12. Music thumping through the floor and people out in the smoking area shouting. 2nd night was the worst music went on until after 2 am absolute disgrace for a family hotel. People out shouting and fighting in the smoking courtyard. Ended up calling to speak to the manager who said he would ask for the noise to be brought down and people to use other smoking area. Lasted about 30 mins and was back as worse. Almost 3am going to sleep when the noise finally settled. Hallway doors banging non stop. Breakfast area is disaster air conditioning kept on and breakfast goes freezing cold. Pool is filthy and no shallow area or kids area. The dome play centre is good ans has great deals for familes. Overall hotel could do with some big reservations would not rate it four stars by no account. The food was fabulous on the 4th floor restaurant 3 course meal i think 30 euro and a great kids menu. Food was outstanding there, but bar menu is very overpriced and not worth it. This was our 2nd time here in a few years and was let down big time. Definitely will not be returning. Management i will say are great help and do try there best. But hotel overall needs big changes.

Good property. Don’t think it is a 4 star property though, more so 3.5 star. Room was clean, beds were very comfortable, breakfast was great. Great location, walkable to stores near by. Property could use some updating to get up to a true 4 star rating.

Very poor standard of family room. Just a regular room with two extra beds thrown in. Unbelievably warm on third floor even with window open and fan on, very uncomfortable. Advertises a kids club every night during summer, yet when we enquired they said they had to check it was on. Unfortunately it was on, and we sent our 5 and 6 year old there to be left without a drink in a soft play centre with no organised activities. Left to run around for 1.5 hours with not as much as water offered. Paid 10 euro per child extra for them to dine with Talbot Tiger - who didn’t show up for them, and surprise surprise no drink with their meal. Thank god we collected them early, as our 5 year old downed a 500ml of water the minute we picked her up and had been asking her older brother to ask them for a drink, but he was too shy as he thought he needed money. Kids of that age shouldn’t have to ask, they should be reminded to hydrate when running around a soft play “supervised”. The staff of the hotel are absolutely fabulous and couldn’t do enough for us including reception and bar staff - but overall I don’t know where the four stars come from. 240 euro for a Saturday night in a squashed “family” room in unbearable heat.

Staff and extra touches for our anniversary. Rooms ovee padel courts very noisy as had to leave window open cause room was so warm with radiators off. Also light hanging out of ceiling in gathroom . Buen hotel, algo mejorable la limpieza, no por sucio, sino porque huele a tabaco, tanto en la habitación como en los pasillos. Es un puntazo que esté incluída la piscina, con actividades y el gimnasio. El desayuno bastante completo y de buena calidad. Falta que tuviese aire acondicionado en las habitaciones. Un hotel de 4 estrellas con ventilador no es aceptable. És ideal si vas con niños porque tiene bolera, etc.

Everything was very good, very clean, room was spotless, bed very comfortable, had great sleep 😴 breakfast was excellent plenty of variety, nicely presented and hot food nice and hot, we enjoyed our stay and will be back for a longer stay, staff very helpful and friendly especially receptionist, thank you

Was staying for the community games. Music in the Bar til 12 and although we where staying in the 3rd floor you could hear it pretty loudly. Coffee for breakfast was seved in a pot. I requested a 2nd and the lady serving said I already had one. She never came back and when i spoke to her colleague, she told me the other person had left. Surprised at 7,30am that Cereal sever bowls where empty and little or no GF cereal. Service didn't give a great impression. Not worth the price, but we had little choice with the community games taking place in Carlow.

From arrival until departure the team at the Talbot I found the team to be warm, professional and attuned. Their service appeared effortlessly seamless. The bedroom was spacious and I had a lovely sleep in my super comfy bed, on gorgeous pillows. Breakfast was generous and tasty. The corridors to the bedroom could do with a refresh but other than that the Talbot Hotel was a treat of a stay!

Communication prior to checking in was NON EXISTENT. I messaged via the booking app ( no response), I emailed ( no response), I rang and the call was eventually answered by a young man who couldnt help at all as he was "only in the reservation office".

Wed Sept 3 the hotel itself was nice. town was beautiful. While eating our meal- (mine had a hair in it. Nothing was done when I reported it "my apologizes") my observations.... There was a party of some sort going on. they disrupted other diners by blocking a door open on a chilly night. The REAL problem was a child that was part of the party grabbed a handful of paper straws off the bar and put them in her mouth. THEN put all but 1 back in the straw container on the bar. I mentioned this to the bartender and to who I thought was the manager on duty. The bartender removed the straws but did not throw them away- just removed them to the back of the bar. I was watching to see what was going to be done. Unacceptable by anyone's standards! We left the dining room immediately! Sad because we were enjoying ourselves in your lovely hotel & town.

Second time staying at the Talbot. Our previous stay in June was really good and so I decided to book again for this trip. Overall the hotel is nice with a newly opened bar and restaurant area. Rooms are spacious with 2 beds and a decent bathroom. This stay unfortunately we noticed some areas which could do with improvement. On arrival (6pm) there were no staff to be seen. We stood at reception for quite a few minutes before a passing staff member went through the back and a receptionist came out. The receptionist was really lovely so this made up for the wait. We were given room 405. On the way to the room we were shocked by the state on the carpets which looked like they had been splattered with bleach all the way up the corridor. Not good for a four star hotel. The room also had a large stain on the floor which looked like coffee and a strange smell. This soon went with the window open. The following day we needed a second key card. Again no one on reception so we had another wait till a cleaner went and got a receptionist out. The following morning we were woken by a smoke alarm going off twice and when it stopped a letter placed under the door stating someone on your floor has been smoking and if they find you smoking in the room you will be charged for the deep cleaning of the room etc. This sounded very accusatory. Considering myself and my husband have never smoked we felt offended by such a letter. Unfortunately I don’t think we will chose the Talbot again.

Handle fell of my room door as I entered it. In all fairness to the staff they went above a beyond after I reported it, they got me a new room, restaurant was very good staff were brilliant. Will stay here again when in the area.

Alles war sehr gut - den Abzug gibt es, weil 2x das Wasser ausgefallen ist - wegen Arbeiten. Was ja in Ordnung ist, wenn man entsprechend informiert wird. An den tagen vorher hieß es nur, dass das Fitness und der Pool nicht offen sind. Das das komplette Wasser abgestellt wurde im ganzen Haus leider nicht. Trotzdem ein sehr sauberes Haus mit freundlichem Personal. Würde ich jederzeit nochmals buchen. Liegt ein bisschen außerhalb, aber die Busanbindung ist gut und man kann auch in die Innenstadt laufen.

Really large rooms, comfortable beds, great fitness facilities and lovely breakfast. Next door to a huge Dunnes and other convenient stores. A bit of a walk from the town centre but a great option if you’re exploring the area. North Americans will appreciate the large rooms and easy parking!

This was a good choice for us to get closer to Dublin for a flight out the next day. Free parking is nice and the room was fine. Nothing amazing, but clean and spacious.

It was a lovely hotel, fine spacious room. The only drawback was that it was a 25 mins walk into town. We were told that the carvery was finished at 4pm on the sat & when we went up it was just finished at 2.30. I should not have had it then because it was cold & the fish was leathery. The food on Friday night in the bar however was lovely. The staff were very friendly & helpful.

Lovely well kept hotel. Rooms are getting tired however the downstairs and communal areas are beautifully well kept. The cleaners do a fantastic job. The restaurant food was good although the chips were undercooked each time we had them. The breakfast was beautiful all three mornings - not one complaint! The reception staff were lovely, bright and friendly. The restaurant staff were friendly except one chap who seemed very stressed and short when we asked for a simple table of four. All in all a wonderful stay. Thank you for having us.

The main floor restaurant was fantastic. Our server Emilija was one of the best servers I’ve ever had. We were there at the soft opening and the atmosphere was inviting. The room was wonderful and clean and inviting.

Lovely hotel, i have stayed here several times. Staff are really nice. Breakfast was a disgrace as it is one set price so we paid €27 for cereal x 2, tea x 2, toast and yoghurt. The cereal was also a cheap brand and it was stale.

Nice stay overall bedroom decent but Bathroom could do with upgrade...Bar excellent,comfortable with really good lunch and dinner...lobby area nicly finished but hallways to rooms need attention and new carpets..breakfast wasnt great with very little left at 945 when breakfast served til 10.30 ...overall nice stay but does need improvements in areas

We had an amazing stay over two nights staff were so accommodating, location is good and the food in the restaurant was A1, will definitely return here

Great time for adults and children alike. The Dome is an amazing facility for the kid’s club and other times in the day, with so much to do. Pool brilliant for all ages. Gym excellent. Dunnes, chemist and other shops close by for anything you might need. Bar entertainment was original and a lot of fun. Food, breakfast, lunch and dinner very tasty (recommend the bangers and mash). Staff very helpful and went out of their way to make our adventure memorable.

The staff were very welcoming and friendly. Dinner was good. The menu was extensive but what I didn’t like was that with most of the fish or chicken dishes there was some red meat element included. The breakfast was very good, with a varied selection. Room was a good size for a family of 4.
