Beautiful, unique quaint converted schoolhouse with a great restaurant and pub, away from the fray of busy downtown. Half hour walk to center city. Great romantic spot for couples. Staff went overboard on making sure you got what you needed.

This is a quaint boutique hotel in a lovely part of Dublin along the Grand Canal but it was more like a babbling brook with a wonderful tree lined walking path along each side. There was a nice selection of hot and cold tasty breakfast items. The attached restaurant and pub were grand and even had a nice place to sit outside on a warm evening. Staff was very helpful and kind.

Convenient location. Friendly staff. Restaurant on site. Comfy bed. Nice shower. Only two quibbles: 1) It would be helpful to add a shower caddy, and 2) it would be great to have more diverse music (including traditional Irish music) on the restaurant playlist instead of the repeating loop of tired 80s and 90s pop music.

My wife and I stayed at the Schoolhouse on our very first trip to Dublin. I chose it for the character of the property, and it did not disappoint. The rooms very nice and seemed to have been upgraded fairly recently. However, it was the common areas that set the hotel apart. The vaulted dining room and bar area were charming and gave a sense of what the building was like when it was originally built. Also, the old-school keys were a nice touch. The compromise for this charm was location, not being in the center of Dublin. Still, the 20-minute walk to Trinity college was not bad since the weather during our stay was cooperative. I can also recommend the gastropub. We thought we'd just make use of the restaurant for breakfast but at the end of a long day of sightseeing we chose to have dinner at the hotel several nights. A good meal and then straight to bed!

Wonderful staff, lovely hotel, great pub/restaurant … met all of our needs except one … we wanted to leave one small suitcase at the hotel for 5 days while we bicycled in Connemara between our 2 stays at the Schoolhouse, but they have nowhere to store guests’ luggage. We were advised to try the bus station or train station to find a locker. We overheard another guest with the same request who seemed dismayed with no time to fix the problem. I wish a better solution could be found.

My son and I stayed for 3 nights and enjoyed the location, style and personal touches of the hotel. It's a charasmatic hotel with charm and fabulous personality. It's clean and comfortable with easy access to all areas of Dublin.

We really had a wonderful 4 day stay at Schoolhouse. The room was spacious and very clean. The staff was courteous and very helpful. The breakfast had a lot of variety and was very good. We also had dinner in the restaurant. Both the food and the service were top notch. We would certainly stay at the Schoolhouse again. If you are driving, the parking lot is small and challenging to negotiate.

Cozy hotel with friendly and helpful staff, centrally located. 24h reception is great for coming and going as you like, without having to worry about room keys. Some wear visible in the bathroom, otherwise the room was in excellent condition.

Staff in the dining area and cleaning staff are excellent - professional and genuinely friendly!!! Thank you. Buffet good! Cooked breakfast, less so. Bed very comfy and room size good. Rather faded glory and outside areas shabby snd dirty. … a little updating is overdue. Shower very weak. . The lift was out of order over 3 days so had to carry case up two flights of stairs. The hotel is well positioned for lots of places of interest in the city. I had meetings and one day missed food all day. I asked in the bar and at reception if a bag of crisps or a banana could be found ( since there was no mini bar). The answer was an emphatic no “ not after10pm” with zero concern and a swift return to her conversation with another staff member. Certainly no genuine customer care for a mature lady on her own. I appreciated that a taxi was ordered and came on time. Apart from the first night, reception was professional but lacking ANY pathic communication and whilst language skills were excellent, there wasn’t the usual warmth and rapport found in most Irish hotels. Maybe the reception area needs rethinking along with reception staff training around the word hospitality? The truth is that you can get more and pay less.

Wardrobe doors had signs of damage which had not been sorted. Window out to the rear of the property with food bins from the kitchen being raded by seagulls. Pleasant! Perfect for a quiet nights sleep in a large bedroom. Mine (and it appears most) were on the basement level which is a shame but some natural light still comes through.

We asked for a quiet room as the hotel is on a busy road out of Dublin. Our room at the back was very very quiet and I think most rooms will also be quiet. The breakfast was excellent and all the staff were very friendly and professional. Dining in the restaurant in the evening was good but there could have been more choice with perhaps a fresh fish option.

The rooms in the Schoolhouse are extremely comfortable with efficient heating and cooling as required. Television channel limited. The food offering was not as remembered from previous stays. Menu very limited and the chef appears to have a large container of shredded spring onions which are liberally sprinkled onto everything from scrambled eggs with smoked salmon to fried eggs to caesar salad!

This property is with easy walking distance of most everything, yet feels more secluded. It’s only about a five minute walk to the Hop on- Hop off bus and many restaurants and shops. More than anything else, though, the staff is absolutely wonderful. They go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable.

Excellent place to stay well looked after. The breakfast was very good and the chicken wings at the bar were the best we ever had. Staff are very good and helpful.

Rather faded glory and outside areas shabby snd dirty. … a little updating is overdue. Shower very weak. . The lift was out of order over 3 days so had to carry case up two flights of stairs. The hotel is well positioned for lots of places of interest in the city. I had meetings and one day missed food all day. I asked in the bar and at reception if a bag of crisps or a banana could be found ( since there was no mini bar). The answer was an emphatic no “ not after10pm” with zero concern and a swift return to her conversation with another staff member. Certainly no genuine customer care for a mature lady on her own. I appreciated that a taxi was ordered and came on time. The room was a good size and the bed was very comfortable with a good combination of foam and feather pillows. Good shower, although the power was a bit weak. Wardrobe doors had signs of damage which had not been sorted. Window out to the rear of the property with food bins from the kitchen being raded by seagulls. Pleasant! The service was ok, although I feel the attitude to a request for room service seemed an inconvenience and non-resident Bistro customers were given precedence (or so it appeared). Expensive rates which were not reflected in the level of service or approach.

This was a nice place to stay and only about a 15 minute walk to the central sites in Dublin. if you stay here you dont need a car. The restaurant was really nice and the staff friendly. The only set back we had was that they were trimming trees the whole time we were there and it was right outside our window and was loud during the day

Beautiful, unique quaint converted schoolhouse with a great restaurant and pub, away from the fray of busy downtown. Half hour walk to center city. Great romantic spot for couples. Staff went overboard on making sure you got what you needed.

This is a quaint boutique hotel in a lovely part of Dublin along the Grand Canal but it was more like a babbling brook with a wonderful tree lined walking path along each side. There was a nice selection of hot and cold tasty breakfast items. The attached restaurant and pub were grand and even had a nice place to sit outside on a warm evening. Staff was very helpful and kind.

This property is with easy walking distance of most everything, yet feels more secluded. It’s only about a five minute walk to the Hop on- Hop off bus and many restaurants and shops. More than anything else, though, the staff is absolutely wonderful. They go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable.

The rooms very nice and seemed to have been upgraded fairly recently. However, it was the common areas that set the hotel apart. Lots of character to this one. Enjoyed the extensive patio area where one can enjoy a cigar without smoking out the other guests. Staff was helpful in confirming the aircoach pickup location...super close as is the Dart station. Request a quiet room off the main road if you're a lite sleeper.

Well situated hotel in quiet area with short walk to Aviva Stadium or Temple Bar. Nice friendly staff. Food, just OK. Only issue was TV barely functioning, only 2-3 channels available, instead of full line up shown in guide. Spoke to staff twice and was assured it would be addressed but it was not.

I loved this 31 room boutique hotel in Dublin. The location was great and just 10-15 minute walk into the city center. Location is by a canal and there is a beautiful walkway to stroll. The pub and restaurant were great to have on-site. I absolutely loved our room… just charming with very comfortable beds & duvet. Staff was exceptional and you can buy tickets at the reception desk for the double decker hop on- hop off BLUE Bus ( which I would highly recommend).
