The hotel is older which I love and the staff are all wonderful - especially Carina (very helpful and a wonderful host for the hotel). Only issues is the hotel does not have parking and I unfortunately got three tickets on the side street so learn the parking rules. Otherwise love the hotel, tea/latte machine, and living area where you can watch the boats go by.

This hotel is a bit of a legend with Stockholmers. Art nouveu and twentieth century modern collide. I wouldnt want this changed. However, when I arrived I found there was no lift to my level. If i had known this, i would have booked next door. I think it only fair to alert prospective guests that could be a considerable inconvenience to some. However staff were quick to take up /down luggage. If you can manage atairs - then enjoy the old fasioned luxury of thexEsplanade

With this hotel, you’re paying for convenience—15 min from anything in Gamla Stan; 15 min from anything in the museum district. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. That’s where the nice things end about this stay. I want to be clear that the things that need fixing are the responsibility of management and not the employees, who go above and beyond. But this hotel is charming in the common spaces, while the rooms are rundown. We booked 3 rooms; 2 of them had issues with sewage smells, 1 had a broken toilet, 1 had a problem with gnats and what appeared to be baby spiders. The shower is maybe 2ft X 4ft? Extremely narrow—and the tile has mold and mildew spots, as well as grout that is coming up or just missing in some places. The beds are comfortable, but the rooms are in desperate need of paint. Be advised you are on the corner of 2 very busy streets, so even with the windows closed, it’s very loud. The coffee machine was broken for 50% of our stay. And for guests who are differently abled or elderly: there is no elevator and this place is most definitely not wheelchair friendly. You pay for a nice hotel, but in the end, end up with a rundown-former-gem that is in desperate need of management to spend some money on room renovations.

The Esplanade is in an older, charming building. The hotel was located, I believe, only on the first two floors of the building, which has a lot of charm and character. I didn't feel the lack of an elevator because our room was on the 2nd floor but this could be a problem for some. If people need the modern amenities, this isn't the place for them but the location was fantastic (across from the water) and you could feel the history of the place. The breakfast and available coffee/tea on the main floor were very nice. It is very easy walking distance to the old town Gamla Stan and many of the museums and other places of interest so really an excellent location for a stay in Stockholm.

The hotel has a very relaxed and homely feeling to it with wonderful staff. The bed was comfortable and good showering facilities. Coffee and tea available all day in the downstairs lounge. Breakfast very good with homemade bread. Situated opposite some of the boat trip berths and in easy walking distance of most of Stockholm's tourist attractions.

It’s an old hotel but that is part of its charm. It is very clean and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The location is superb. Asking distance to the Vasa, Abba, National Museum, the Palace, the Nordic Museum. There’s a small public balcony facing the harbor that is a great spot to people watch. Lobby is very small but again, it’s an older style of hotel which is a nice change from the fancier newer hotels.

Das Hotel hat seinen ganz eigenen und tollen charme. Leider kein Aufzug für schwere Koffer. Lage ist hervorragend und alle Sehenswürdigkeiten gut zu Fuß zu erreichen. Gerne wieder.

Sehr gut gelegene Unterkunft direkt am Hafen. Es gibt ein vielseitiges, gutes Frühstück, Das Personal der Rezeption und der Küche ist sehr freundlich. Ein wunderschöner Salon mit Balkon und Kamin zum Sitzen und Lesen entschädigt für unser dunkles Zimmer zum dunklen Hinterhofschacht, dafür ist dieses ruhig (leider etwas muffig riechend aber sauber), besser und heller sind die Zimmer zur Seitenstraße. Ich würde wieder dort übernachten, allerdings mit Zimmer zur Seitenstraße.

Kan inte rekommendera detta hotell. Vi bodde i sviten som var vacker och fint inredd men utan något extra. Inte ens en flaska vatten. Eller något extra så som man borde kunna förvänta sig när man bokar en svit för 4000kr. Badrummet var ostädat, slitet och påminde mer om ett badrum på ett enstjärnigt hotell. Hotellet hade ett småsmutsigt badkar utan propp.

Rummet luktade instängt och gammalt, och det var mycket damm på taklamporna. Inredningen kändes också gammal och fåtöljerna fläckiga. Personalen var däremot väldigt trevliga men totalt blev vi ganska besvikna.

Overall experience was great. Some issues with road noise due to overly loud cars. Dan in bathroom was very dusty and at times blew dust round the bathroom. Overall though very clean and comfortable. Fabulous location and lovely breakfast.

Below average, even for Sweden’s (poor) standards of hospitality and service. No elevator, no help with luggage, leaky shower, blocked closet, few and old power outlets, tiny room. But great location, big windows, and nice authentic old Swedish interior. And inexpensive for the area.

Exceptional hotel- showcasing the absolute best of Art Deco design. The whole place is a treat - beautiful architecture and furniture throughout. We loved how historical and authentic it is. We stayed in the gorgeous Room 10, with French balcony overlooking the harbour, which is both very spacious but also cosy, because it’s almost circular! Lovely comfy sofas, very tasteful blue and gold decor. Staff were incredibly helpful and very welcoming. Breakfast is really lovely. Many thanks!

The building is gorgeous and location perfect for visiting Stockholm. The hotel doesn’t necessarily meet premium standards but the beds were comfortable and we enjoyed our stay. We stayed in the room 14, which is described as suite but it’s basically a very large room with very small and outdated bathroom. If you’re staying over the weekend the street right below is super loud until late at night due to traffic and music. We asked the receptionist is Sunday night as loud and her response was “I’m not responsible for the regulations of the street” which was a bit amusing but not very helpful. They stay on Sunday night was less noisy. The hotel doesn’t have a gym and the bathroom was very outdated, and breakfast was good but very basic. Coffee was from a machine, no fresh latte with specialty milk ;) I would recommend this hotel but not for someone who’s after premium experience and service.

Vackert hotel men ganska slitet. Rummet vi fick var precis ovanför trafikljusen i en korsning och det var väldigt mycket störande ljud, vilket tyvärr inte framgick vid bokningen.

We loved staying at the Esplanade. The charm and character of the entire building was incredible. With this hotel, you’re paying for convenience—15 min from anything in Gamla Stan; 15 min from anything in the museum district. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. That’s where the nice things end about this stay. I want to be clear that the things that need fixing are the responsibility of management and not the employees, who go above and beyond. But this hotel is charming in the common spaces, while the rooms are rundown. We booked 3 rooms; 2 of them had issues with sewage smells, 1 had a broken toilet, 1 had a problem with gnats and what appeared to be baby spiders. The shower is maybe 2ft X 4ft? Extremely narrow—and the tile has mold and mildew spots, as well as grout that is coming up or just missing in some places. The beds are comfortable, but the rooms are in desperate need of paint. Be advised you are on the corner of 2 very busy streets, so even with the windows closed, it’s very loud. The coffee machine was broken for 50% of our stay. And for guests who are differently abled or elderly: there is no elevator and this place is most definitely not wheelchair friendly. You pay for a nice hotel, but in the end, end up with a rundown-former-gem that is in desperate need of management to spend some money on room renovations.

The hotel has a very relaxed and homely feeling to it with wonderful staff. The bed was comfortable and good showering facilities. Coffee and tea available all day in the downstairs lounge. Breakfast very good with homemade bread. Situated opposite some of the boat trip berths and in easy walking distance of most of Stockholm's tourist attractions.

The building is gorgeous and location perfect for visiting Stockholm. The hotel doesn’t necessarily meet premium standards but the beds were comfortable and we enjoyed our stay. We stayed in the room 14, which is described as suite but it’s basically a very large room with very small and outdated bathroom. If you’re staying over the weekend the street right below is super loud until late at night due to traffic and music. We asked the receptionist is Sunday night as loud and her response was “I’m not responsible for the regulations of the street” which was a bit amusing but not very helpful. They stay on Sunday night was less noisy. The hotel doesn’t have a gym and the bathroom was very outdated, and breakfast was good but very basic. Coffee was from a machine, no fresh latte with specialty milk ;) I would recommend this hotel but not for someone who’s after premium experience and service.

Loved the architecture, and the fact that it was built in the first few years of 1900. The staff was exceptional. Breakfast was included and it was excellent. The gal taking care of the food was very friendly. The nights were warm and later we found that we could have asked for a fan. We just thoroughly enjoyed our stay and your beautiful city.

We booked a standard room with a queen bed but when we arrived we discovered our room had 2 twin beds instead. We asked at reception and we were told we got an upgrade. We explained we preferred a queen bed but we were told they were fully booked and could not accommodate that. But disappointing!
