The “seasonal” out door pool is completely out of service, the liner is severely ripped and it looks like it’s been that way for a while. The lodge rooms are tired, toilet is so old it doesn’t have insulation in the tank and it sweats badly, leaving a permanent puddle on the floor that is rotting the vanity beside it. Sink had been broken and had an unsightly repair in it. Curtains were either musty or someone had smoked in room so the room smelled old for all these reasons. Ceiling must not be insulated, foot steps in the room above were very loud.

We came as a family of 5. Things we liked: across the resort there was a nice rocky beach with lots of marine life to see and kayaks/canoe/paddle board rental. We spent most of our time here during our two night stay. The indoor pool was nice-very cold- but welcomed after a hot day outside. Lunch at the club house was very good. The playground was well kept and fun for the kids. Loved the view Things we did not like- the outdoor pools were “closed for maintenance”. They have been closed a long time and there was no one working on them. The mini golf was only open Thursday-Sat. We were there Tue/wed so the kids were disappointed. The couch in our cottage was covered in human and dog hair, which isn’t especially great because my two kids have sever dog allergies. They offered to try and find us another cabin, but after a very long day of travel and already unloading our things before we noticed, we covered it with fresh sheets to make it usable. One of the two small burners in the kitchenette did not work. The cottage was very hot, but at least had fans. Went to do laundry and the washing machine ate up coins and did not work. There was one other one in service thankfully. The volleyball court was huge, but it was all mini rocks, not sand. As a family that plays volleyball, you can’t exactly play properly on rocks so didn’t use it much. Thankfully we brought a ball as there was not one available and ended up playing on the grass. The “horseshoe pit” was no where to be found.

The golf course was fantastic with great views of the lake from 7-8 holes and woods/holy terrain for the rest. The cottage we were in (#23) was decent (bed linen was new and clean, kitchen area was quite compact, bathroom was clean and tidy) but had a musty smell

We enjoyed our stay overall. The rooms are a little outdated, but very clean. The only downside was the indoor pool is not heated and the hot tub was boarded over and not usable.

The Resort is a fair distance from other areas. 2 restaurants on site, both great. The Resort is kept clean, nice and quiet for families but just make sure you plan well and bring lots of snacks. Beautiful outdoor pool, nice cottages, mini golf. Some things were a bit dated, but we found it charming.

Nice big room. I thought it was lovely and beautiful location with lots to do if you like being outside. I wish I’d had the time to take full advantage of all the amenities (boating, etc) I liked the artwork. Hot tub appeared closed, but pools looked nice. Mini putt looked closed, too?

I had high expectations for our stay at this "resort". However, I was disappointed in how dated the room decor was. Also, the carpet was stained; the bathroom sink had burn marks and chips on it, the gable holding up the sink was coming apart, there was a long crack in the floor tiles indicating it may be foundation related; the exterior of the window was so dirty it obstructed most the magnificent view; and there were four drill holes on the cabinet top housing the fridge. On the positive side, the rest of the facilities seemed to be updated, and the staff were friendly and helpful.

I did rented a one bedroom cottage there . Beautiful place amazing views and spotless surroundings. The cottage itself wasn’t properly clean , after getting on one unit I had to be moved because lights did not work and it was very dusty. Next cottage was horrible smelly like mouse urine as if no one freshly wash floors or surfaces. The washroom was very clean but towels were very hard to use as if they were not washed recently. The cottage deck area wasn’t clean it had a tomato slice on the stair and some dirt around. The room cleaning services is not offered unless you as a day ahead and the toiletries are not replaced unless you ask and been a cottage takes time and is inconvenient to have to walk all the way down to the office to get what you need. The receptionists are very friendly and understanding and had refunded me a pet fee that I was charged as I noted the poor cleaning and I had to clean myself all the time as just once I requested towels and were not even replaced that only time I asked on 4 nights stay. I also must say as I forgot to mention to the staff that the beds were the most uncomfortable beds ever. The mattress are so old that use metal springs …. Horrible nights so I slept on the couch most of the time. The place is beatiful but cleaning and uncomfortable beds are not going to make you stay unforgettable.

Overall disappointing stay. The cottage is very dated and was dirty. I cleaned it myself when we arrived. The dust under the beds and couch; leftover cheerios, toys, wrappers from last guests. The paint on the walls was chipping everywhere, the ceiling is about to cave in on one of the bedrooms. Not one of the window screens was usable so we couldn’t open the windows without bugs coming in. Chairs outside and the decks are rotting. The dining room and staff were the best part of our stay. The hut with ocean activities was a great touch.

The property was fine . Had over 30 plus ants crawling around in our room . Found them on the ceilings , bathroom and above our bed . Wifi worked 2 out of 4 nights . Didn’t offer us to switch rooms , just brought in ant traps that barely worked .

The best part of the stay was the scenery, the worse part was having a fan in the cottage that was too small to cool the place down. I called the office for another fan but they said they didn’t have one. All the money being taken in to this place you would think they would have heat pumps in them or at the very least window a/c’s!! The place was comfortable but maybe in the hotel section it would have been a better experience.

Huge, clean room with balcony and water view. Clean washroom with excellent shower but the toilet labours to flush number 2. Staff was excellent, friendly and helpfull but by 4 pm, sec9nd day, our room still hadn't been made up. Had to chase down more coffee for the morning. Very much chagrinned that, despite the high cost of the room, the breakfast buffet, same as provided free of charge in most hotels, ie scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, yucky fried cubes and coffee cost us $25 per person. Sec9nd morning we drove 30 minutes into tSt. Peter's for a proper breakfast for much less. We won't be staying here again.

Lovely big room, very comfortable. Was better than I was expecting. Enjoyed a swim too. Had a very good dinner in the restaurant with excellent service. Breakfast let them down, hot buffet anything but. If they can't keep it hot, then do a different breakfast service. Not much choice either, disappointing.

Older property. Bed not very comfy. Outdated property needs a renovation. Missing an elevator for lugging up suitcases. Staff lovely. Beautiful scenery and outside property. Seafood chowder amazing and lobster pasta good. Pan seared halibut coating was a strange texture with corneal and not great. Rich sauce with overpowering spices not complimentary to fish. Breakfast was fairly good.

The view was beautiful. My room was not that quiet. I believe I was near a group that had been out golfing. And continued to the 19th hole right next door. The staff was great. My food tasted wonderful.

The A/C in our unit was very loud, we were unable to sleep with it on. Mentioned it at the front desk but nothing was done. Food at the restaurant was good and staff pleasant.

Its outdated and pricey Wifi kept disconnecting and i had to drive tk reception to get reconnected

The front desk staff need to be trained more. When you are asked a question regarding a fridge not working or when is the boat tour going. Don't lie and tell the patron that you have to put ice in the fridge to cool it down or you missed the tour ,when the tour wasn't going out because we were the only ones to book the tour. Just let us know and we would be ok with that. The food in the restaurant was terrible. We had been at the resort many times. The food was great then , however, it is not up to par now. The waitress was nice and attentive.We expect good food and a more variety on the menu for the money we paid . This used to be a great resort but not now. We won't be back and neither will a lot of people who were patrons of the resort.Judith & Glenn Bishop

Hotel Front Desk Manager, owner of Barkley (didn't see her name) was phenomenal. Very attentive, accommodating and knowledgeable. All other staff we talked to were super friendly. The window looking over the water was filled with condensation, needed to be cleaned so we could see the sunsets. Also the AC wouldn't run at night so the room was too warm during the night. Dinner in the dining room was very good. Definitely come back!!!

If you are thinking about staying at this property I would rethink your choice. Reservations are recommended for the dining room but that has no impact on the service you will receive. We waited just under and just over an hour for our order on two sepatate evenings. There were only three staff and they had to do everything, including make your bar drinks, clear and setup tables, take orders and serve. And the prices were definitely out of line with the service.

A beautiful property and location. Staff were excellent . Checked in just as the restaurant was closing and they stayed opened for us and had an incredible dinner. Staff were very friendly and accommodating . Room was large, modern and beautiful. View was beautiful . Look forward to our next visit.

when checking out, I asked for a receipt. The staff said it will be emailed, which I never received. when I got home, I found I was charged twice, #378.32 and $378.32. I contacted the resort immediately by email, their answer was that I had to deal with Expedia Travel, because I reserved it with Expedia. I am pondering if I am going to keep using Expedia service.

A great location in a quiet location overlooking Bras D'or lake. Friendly staff. Breakfast was a little pricey so opted to eat off site. Nice Pool, Rooms upstairs have no elevator but for us that wasn't an issue. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.

TV was impossible to operate, had to get maintenence to help & it still would shut off randomly. Wanted to have supper & restaurant was closed due to a wedding, should have let us know, nearest place to eat was 30 minutes away and we just got back from that area & did not want to go back out. Lovely view of the parking lot & roof, the site says water or garden. Food was good when we did finally get into the restaurant

The Resort is a fair distance from other areas. 2 restaurants on site, both great. The Resort is kept clean, nice and quiet for families but just make sure you plan well and bring lots of snacks. Beautiful outdoor pool, nice cottages, mini golf. Some things were a bit dated, but we found it charming.

This place is amazing for a quiet getaway. It’s so secluded we thought we were lost! Even GPS was confused. I guess a lot of the clientele are locals because the restaurant was packed for dinner both nights were there. It’s an older establishment,but well maintained. It’s a beautiful location and the employees were so friendly.We would definitely stay here again!

Lovely big room, very comfortable. Was better than I was expecting. Enjoyed a swim too. Had a very good dinner in the restaurant with excellent service. Breakfast let them down, hot buffet anything but. If they can't keep it hot, then do a different breakfast service. Not much choice either, disappointing.

Our room was extra spacious, very clean with a limited view of Bras d’Or Lake. King-size bed was very comfortable, but both pillows too thick for my liking for sleeping; excellent as backrest for reading. Great meal at their restaurant at a table overlooking the lake. Bonus live music during dinner which enhanced the evening. (Was a Saturday night.) Enjoyed the pool which we had to ourselves for a time, which almost never happens. The pool area is tired and the hot tub was out of order and covered with plywood. No complementary breakfast and there doesn’t seem to be other nearby options, but we are from out of province and not familiar with the area.

The food menu was awful. There were only a few choices for meals - which very rapidly became boring. Above the restaurant ceiling there is a plywood floor and people walking there made noise loud enough to disturb the dining experience The room prices and food prices were too high, considering the very average quality that was provided in each case. The facility is billed as a resort, but there are limited opportunities for fun activities besides the golf course and the indoor pool. The Owners should develop boat activities on the beautiful Bras D'Or Lakes which abut the property. Surely fishing, and exploring by boat would appeal to many potential guests.

We understood that it was near the end of season. The place itself was very nice and clean and staff were friendly. The one complaint was breakfast. Buffet style. Not nearly enough food to warrant charging $22 per person. It consisted of scrambled eggs, home fries, toast, bacon and sausage. They ran out of eggs and coffee. Like i said, we know it was Oct 17th and close to closing up for the season but if you are going to be open then you need to make sure you have enough food on hand to see you through to the end. If you don't want to do a big order from suppliers than at least make a trip to the grocery store and buy what you think you will need. We were not impressed having to pay $22 per person and there was only limited items to choose from and felt that you couldn't take more because there were other people there that also needed to eat.

Food was absolutely amazing and the service we received from Akshit was beyond anything we could of ever imagined. He made or stay over the top. It's a great resort and has many options to choose from. Comfortable room with lots of space and we had a suite. We wish we could of stayed longer. Also the entertainment was fantastic. Great time all around but Akshit made the difference for us.

We stayed in a cottage. I was really happy to see all the cookware and dishware in the kitchen. We easily cooked our own food which we wanted to do. The front desk staff was amazing to answer all the questions. During our stay the laundry machine was broken so we could not do laundry. For some people that might be important to check before booking. For us it was fine as we did not have time for the laundry as we were busy in exploring Cape Breton and it was not our priority. More over we packed enough clothes so it was not required. The network coverage was weak, but we enjoyed staying away from the internet. The wifi is available but you had to be in the resort to get connected. The outdoor pool for little kids was half full. So, kids complained about that. Overall good experience of staying in a cottage. I will definitely re-book if we go there again.
