The Lafayette Hotel

My room was clean and tidy. I booked a balcony room but drove 6 hours to only find out they didn't have anymore. I had to pay to park in their parking area, my car and 12 other cars got there Windows smashed in... paid 150$ for secure parking. Only to get my windows smashed in. When I brought it to the concierge attention he literally told me "Welcome to New Orleans"

I experienced an unexpected ordeal at The Lafayette hotel when my vehicle was immobilized by a wheel boot despite having paid for the hotel’s parking service. Another guest faced the same frustrating situation with their car in the same parking area. After discovering the boots on our vehicles, we each had to pay $120 to have the devices removed. When we approached the hotel staff for assistance or compensation, we were met with an unhelpful response of “sorry, nothing we can do,” leaving both of us frustrated and out of pocket for what appeared to be an error in the parking enforcement system. The incident highlighted poor communication between the hotel and its parking management, ultimately resulting in paying customers like myself being penalized and receiving no support from the establishment we had chosen to stay with.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

Great hotel and excellent location. Gets loud at night and elevator broke last day we checked out. It was a great hotel and why it was 4/5 for us.

The hotel is in a great location. Parking was a little expensive. Overall, it was a nice and convenient.

You get what you pay for. It looks nice but it isn’t much. There was no iron in my room, the business center has a computer but it didn’t work at all. Room was clean, near city hall so it was a safe environment. About a 10-14 min walk to bourbon st. Staff were friendly and responsive. Again nothing luxury or spectacular, looking for a place to sleep that’s clean and quiet this is it. Anything else no!

Really great deal on a beautiful hotel. Room was large and comfortable. Conveniently located within walking distance or the Riverwalk, French Quarter and Garden District. Electronic check in was easy and convenient to not have to keep track of a key card. Parking isn’t on site and is just an unsecured parking lot a short walk from the hotel but it turned out not to be a big deal.

Should specify more that there is no actual lounge area or gym

It was super nice until I paid for parking and came to my car the next morning and had a boot on my car. Be careful parking in this hotels lot

We arrived on a business trip on May 4, 2025. I liked the hotel, everything was clean and beautiful, but I was very upset about the parking. I paid $46 and it was not guarded in any way. In the morning, when we came to pick up the car, the glass was broken, tools were stolen and the car was scratched. That night, 8 cars were damaged, everyone’s windows were broken. I was very upset.

Everything was great except for the parking. Be careful when you park in their designated lot, you may get booted like us and another guest did, due to poorly marked star and reserved spots.

Cons You get what you pay for! The bathroom was dirty, I cleaned it myself. Mold around the shower. The entire room is old, outdated and dark. You can’t call the attendant, you have to text. Not suited for people who prefer a traditional hotel. Pros Great location, walking distance to most attractions and restaurants. The front desk person was kind enough to hold my bags after I checked out.

Upon opening the front door to the hotel they had a leak, which was the first red flag. We were able to check in early, which was a bonus. When I got off the elevator on the floor of my room it reeked of mildew. Upon entering my room the furniture was old and reminded me of a funeral home. The bathroom was nothing like the photos. There was no walk in shower. The room was clean, but it smelled badly and was dewy. The windows and mirrors were dry rotted and rust was everywhere. I broke out in a terrible rash after sleeping on the sheets. Do NOT stay here.

The property photographs well but is in need of a rehabilitation. The bathroom in the room had dirty grout and the light fixtures were covered in rust/dust.

The property is well kept, clean, and very pretty. We did not go to the pool, so can't speak to that, but the room, although small, was nice and quiet. We used public paid parking about a block away (no hotel parking) and had no issues. Walking distance to all the sites and the stadium. Will definitely stay with them again!

The area seemed safe, clean and walkable. The staff were so sweet. The room was perfect -- clean and cozy. The check-in and checkout experience was seemless.

The place was spacious and in a great location. The trolly was across the street and a block away. It was also a wonderful walkable location. Everything was 5-20 minute walk. It was a nice way to see New Orleans. The hotel itself was dated and not as clean as other places. Nothing that bothered me but room service did not come at all to clean, there was some mold in the corners of the tub, and the hallway had a mildewy smell. The sheets and the floor were clean. Overall I did not mind my stay.

Had a cockroach in my bathroom as well as seen one in the hallway. Bathtub had dirty spots in it like it wasn’t cleaned well. Didn’t know there’s room service for a fee of $30-$40 dollars every time requested. Half the plugs did not work in my room. Other than that, rooms are very spacious and location was everything as you are in the heart of downtown.

Our staycation was incredible! Beautiful hotel. Such a perfect location. The room was so clean!! We will stay there again just for the mattress! Soo comfy! We did not need staff attention but we knew they were right there. Wonderful stay!!!

I was not informed as to the wifi login and password when I checked in so when I needed to use the wifi, I could not get in touch with customer service. There was alot of outside noise, trollie, motocycles, vehicles. At around 9pm the fire alarm went off and I later found out that it was a false alarm. The coffee maker was totally useless because there was no outlet near by to plug into.

The bed was very comfortable and nice and clean. I wasn’t use to not having a telephone and my television didn’t work.

Excellent location. The room was clean and comfortable, but a little worn. The only problem was that the room (210) was near the building’s air handlers resulting in a very loud mechanical noise 24/7 that kept us up most of the night. I would suggest asking for a room on the Saint Charles Street side of the building.

Staffs are okay. One queen bed room size is very very small. Inediquete light. No bed side table lamp provided. No tissue paper provided. Very inediquete outside lights, windows blocked by next door building. Room #415. Never get this room.

Only problem was internet for T.V's kept going down

Perfect location! Street car stop right in front of hotel. Plenty of restaurants close by. Hotel is beautiful. Our room had a balcony that overlooked St. Charles Avenue. Room was nice size. Clean bathroom. Room could use more outlets and lights as it is a bit dark, and there were cobwebs with bugs in corner of balcony door. Overall I would definitely stay here again. Also the attached steakhouse Desivegas was wonderful. Mezzanine level has snack and vending machines. Front desk person available at all times and very helpful.

Beautiful Hotel. Quiet rooms. Only down side was the lighting or lack there of in the room.

Beds are extremely comfortable. Lacks a microwave for leftovers. Walkable distance to French quarter. It's a historic building. Has elevators.

Virtual front desk does not always respond. Attendant at actual front desk directs you to virtual. Not customer facing at all. Fridge & several lighting fixtures did not work. AC could have been colder. Dining options are limited around the property, but it is walkable to French Quarter.

The staff was AMAZING

While the location is nice, property is ok too but services were very poor. I was given inside room while we paid for street view room. Hotel has virtual front desk and 2 ladies sitting at front desk aren’t helpful. If you want water bottle you have to get it rom vending machine and if machine doesn’t dispense water bottle no one is there to help OR provide you water bottle at night. Front desk simply said we can’t do anything. Stayed for 3 days and even after asking room wasn’t cleaned. We can’t help was the only answer that was provided if front desk ladies were asked something. Overall poor customer service, won’t stay there ever again or recommend it to anyone.

A Wonderful Stay with Exceptional Service My recent stay at this hotel was truly fantastic. The moment we arrived, we were impressed by the incredibly friendly and helpful staff, especially the valet attendants and front desk team. Their warm welcome set a great tone for our entire visit. One of the standout features was the electronic key card system—it was an absolute game changer and made getting in and out of the room so seamless. While there were a couple of small quirks—the fridge would occasionally turn off and we had to ask for an iron—all the amenities were accommodating and met our needs. The highlight of our trip, however, was the outstanding service we received from Bianca. She was not only super friendly but also went above and beyond to make our stay amazing. Her efforts made a noticeable difference and truly elevated our experience. I highly recommend this hotel, and want to extend a special thanks to Bianca for her exceptional hospitality. I will note that due to the Kasa stay, late checkout is an option but must be paid- however, it’s not much and it made our trip home easier.

We had a great experience! Booked 3 rooms and got one room upgrade. The hotel was clean and comfortable. The staff were all amazing! We would highly recommend this hotel and stay again on our next visit to NOLA!!

Terrible staff and service, woken up multiple times and ruined my stay. Cleaning people ignored my do not disturb please sign and came in anyway. Over 3 hours before checkout at 8 and 9am. Building also had extremely loud construction inside and outside. I barely slept and was offered no remorse or refund. Disgusting customer service

The upgrade to a King Suite was amazing. Jen at the front desk is our new best friend. She was very helpful and answered all of our questions.

I was traveling to New Orleans for a funeral. Unfortunately, I was forced to change my reservation due to weather. I had to make four different calls before I finally reached somebody at the actual hotel instead of a call desk in who knows where. I spoke to Marisol - who, after almost an hour on hold - allegedly connected me to somebody named Taylor. Taylor pretended to reschedule my reservation. I discovered this two days later when Roan and Team Kasa sent an email informing me that no such arrangement had been made… This is the total opposite of what you would expect from the “hospitality” industry. I will not recommend Kasa to anyone.

Front desk was so friendly and attentive. It was go convenient to txt for help or any questions. The local was perfect will definitely be staying here again. And the steak house in the first floor is a must try

Communication was great. The on-site attendant hooked me up with a great deal on a last-minute swamp tour. Great location right on Charles street next to the street car. Valet always opened the front door. Nice people.

Ability to walk to everything, even the French Quarter

Great location, slightly away from the crowded area, streetcars is a not factor for noises. Staff are friendly and kind.

This hotel is in a great location. Very easy to transportation, dining, sites and only 6 blocks from the French Quarter.

GREAT spot right on the St Charles trolley rout into the Garden District. Walk to everything. Close enough to the FQ but none of the noise. Comfy bed, nice people on staff.

Excellent location

Lovely hotel with an excellent and helpful staff. No frills. Just a clean room with a comfortable bed in a prime location 3/4 of a mile from the French Quarter. Air conditioning works very well. The St. Charles Trolley stops right across the street, getting you to the Garden District in 10 minutes. And it is just a blocks away from several excellent restaurants and coffee shops. It's a bit worn around the edges but at these great rates, who cares? Would definitely stay here again.

We loved that the Lafayette was in a quieter part of town but still walkable to everything. The casino.. the superdome.. bourbon street.. lots of dining options. And the balcony was super cool to have

Overall our stay was really nice! The distance to Canal, Bourbon and French Quarter was quite walkable for us, if you don't enjoy a 10+ min walk to Canal, the trolleys stop right in front of the hotel and take you to Canal right in front of bourbon, so the location is very accessible to all the fun. Rooms were clean, cozy, cute, & beds were very comfortable. The view from the 4th floor was neat too! My only gripe is the parking, it was quite pricey for the location. It's about a 3 minute walk, which isn't terrible considering most of our visit was walking around Bourbon, but for the price, the parking could be a little bit closer. It's the block behind the hotel. Make sure you don't park in any reserved spots cuz people were getting booted, so don't risk it. Once we figured out the trolley system (a day pass is 3 bucks) everything went really smooth. We were even able to take little breaks and come back to our room to rest up a lil. If you do plan to stay here don't waste your money paying for parking anywhere near the french quarter or Bourbon, which will cost you about 40 bucks. Just use the trolleys for 3 bucks for the whole day since the hotel is very close to the main attractions. We learned by the 2nd day to save our money, especially since you're already paying quite a bit for hotel parking already. Other than that, service at our hotel was great and we definitely will plan on staying here again now that we figured out our system. Thank you very much for a great time!

Clean room. Short walk to and from the Superdome, Bourbon St, and other attractions.

I enjoyed the Lafayette-happy hour at the Desi Vega’s Restaurant downstairs was the highlight-especially our servers-Christiana and another.

We have stayed here many times, but this was our first time in room 214. It was quiet and very roomy! Loved it! We always enjoy Desi Vega’s restaurant and bar. The parking lot is very convenient, less than one block away.

The rooms were cozy and clean. I recommend getting one with a balcony to experience the true New Orleans vibe. There is no breakfast option (but I don't eat breakfast) and I got stuck in the elevator (I got to use the help button, very cool, and I got out quickly, a total fluke) but other than that, it was a delightful old hotel with so much charm!

It’s a lovely hotel short walk from the Amtrak station and 10/15 min walk to the French quarter and steam boat ride and from nfl stadium too. It has a lovely steakhouse adjoining the hotel and a short walk to cafe/restaurant at the end of the street going to French quarter that does breakfast/dinner and tea. Also loads of bars and restaurants in the French quarter. Room have lovely beds walk in shower and coffee facilities in the room. As well as a tv if needed.

Lots of great places nearby for breakfast. Walkable in all directions. Close to shopping, restaurants and bars.

Super location. Try Herbsaint(restaurant on the corner). Room was great.

Walkable to Morial Convention Center. Much better prices than the close walks across from the convention center. Plethora of excellent restaurants. Desi Vargas in the building was superb.

I think as a hotel that it has a lot going for it if you want to approach New Orleans carefully. It takes about fifteen minutes to walk to the French Quarter and a cable car runs adjacent to the hotel. Sort of a more corporate area. But if you don’t want to be above a party it’s great. I didnt venture to the steakhouse below but it seemed to be a decent cloth napkin place. The rooms are a steal if you get a balcony room. I got a corner spot and it was a decently sized, comfortable clean room. Mattress was old school springs btw so if your back is tricky like mine, you feel it the next morning. The hotel itself was tidy with a tinge of class and a little spartan. Not like a continental breakfast kind of place. But it was pretty classic. My only complaint was I stayed for a week and there’s no like, maid onceover while your gone from the room so I kinda stole some toilet paper from the mezzanine men’s room because no one was at the front desk to ask for more. I dunno. Overall you could really do worse. I think it’s a pretty solid place for the price and location.
