Hotel is amazing, so many antiques and curiosity’s to look at. Very much old fashioned style. Stunning views, quiet location. Book an Etna view room as away from the road. Lots of choice for breakfast and the hotel restaurant just up the road, La Caverna is wonderful. From the pool, reception and the restaurant staff I really can’t fault them. This really is a wonderful hotel. A short walk up a hill is Castelmola for beautiful shops bars and lovely for a drink in the evening. Bus stop outside hote 15 mins to Taormina. You can walk down if fit. Great location

Very nice location above Taormina. Good food in restaurant with very attentive and kind staff. Hotel is a bit outdated. Pool not heated when we were there. Lots of extra charges e.g. jacuzzi and sun towels.

Veldig fint hotell og hjelpsom betjening. De har shuffelbuss ned til Taormina som går flere ganger om dagen, så det var ikke noe problem, selv om hotellet ligger oppe i Castlemonia. Fint bassengområde og romslige rom. Bassenget var ikke oppvarmet, så det var rimelig kjølig. Fantastisk fin utsikt fra hotellet og mot Etna. Eneste minuset som gjør at jeg ikke ville bodd der igjen er at det var veldig hard seng og pute, som gjorde at jeg måtte bruke en genser som pute fordi jeg fikk så vondt i nakken. Spurte i resepsjonen om de hadde noen andre puter men det hadde de dessverre ikke.

Absolutely beautiful hotel. The views were spectacular! The staff was so friendly and accommodating! The restaurant was amazing! Pool area could be updated and they should have a waiter or waitress that goes around. They should have something to get rid of the bees! We couldn’t have breakfast outside in the morning because of all the bees! Breakfast was great but more hot options would have been better.

A good spot above Taormina. Runs shuttle bus to the town. Rooms are OK. Our was a little run down with a loud grinding air conditioner, and a leaking faucet. The staff are very hard working both at the hotel and in the evening at the restaurant. Breakfasts are good, and the pool is very good. Good parking available across the street under ground. Easy access to Castelmolo by walking up some stairs.

Great, friendly staff who know how to properly treat their guests. Beautiful views from the restaurant, pool area and our room of Mount Etna. The full breakfast buffet was incredible. In the evenings/night it was absolutely quiet outside. We took the Interbus to/from Taormina bus station, for 1.90 euros. It stops right in front of Villa Sonia Hotel ! Castelmola is an interesting community with many shops and restaurants. We took the walking trail down to Taormina

Wir haben uns sehr wohlgefühlt. Das Hotel ist abenteuerlich in den Felsen von Castelmola integriert. Die Aussicht auf den Ätna möchte ich durchaus als spektakulär bezeichnen. Das Personal ist überaus freundlich und hilfsbereit. Ein Gratistransfer nach- und von Taormina wird 2 x täglich angeboten. Wir empfehlen bei Bedarf einen Parkplatz zu buchen. Einziger Kritikpunkt, das Frühstück ist eher bescheiden und das Brot (ortsüblich) eine Zumutung. Trotzdem: UNBEDINGT HINFAHREN!!!

Beautiful secluded hotel with views of Mt. Etna. More importantly, the staff was superb and extremely helpful. Breakfast was diversified and plentiful. It was also very convenient to have dinner in "La Caverna".This is a definite top 10 hotel in Italy! Stay here and you will not be disappointed!!!

Clean and spacious room with fabulous view from the balcony. Shower was tiny and very dated. Lots of plumbing noises through the night disturbed our sleep. Breakfast decent with lots of fresh cake but the scrambled egg was watery and unappealing and many basic items such as bread often ran low and we had to ask to be replenished. Juice was awful. Lovely pool area with amazing view. Castelmola is lovely and the bus to Taormina stops directly outside the hotel. Overall a good stay.

We had a lovely stay at Villa Sonia. Could not recommend this hotel enough. The hotel was spotless, very large room (we booked the double with Etna views) Breakfast and hotel bar service was fab. Amazing location for exploring Castelmola and Taormina. A handy bus service operates throughout the day, just outside the hotel €3 return to Taormina centre (10/15 min journey) The hotel staff could not have been more friendly and really went out their way to make sure we had a good stay. Highly recommend the restaurant associated to the hotel a short walk up the road. A fabulous hotel for exploring the nearby sights or for relaxing and soaking up the sun (the pool area always had loungers free to use and was super clean/ tidy) Thanks for having us, we will most definitely be back! 😊

The hotel is situated just below the village of Castelmola. It is a small & quirky hotel with lots of antique furniture & artifacts. All the staff were very helpful & pleasant. The views of Mt Etna from the hotel were breath taking. All areas of the hotel were clean.

We stayed for 5 nights but would have loved to have stayed longer. Every member of staff at the hotel we met during our stay was helpful, especially David on reception who made us welcome as soon as we arrived. The whole hotel is kept extremely clean, and the team are visibility working hard throughout the day. We had a Classic room which was large enough for our needs and had alot of storage. There was never a problem with getting a sun bed around the pool and the views of Mt. Etna are breathtaking. Breakfast is a buffet with a good hot and cold selection and there is a great restaurant next door called the Caverna in addition a short walk up into the main square there are plenty of good restaurants. The hotel offers a free Shuttle bus into Taomina, can organise a number of trips, we had a day at a beach club, and a vineyard trip. We had a great stay and hope to be back next year.

The previous reviews and high ratings for this hotel are extremely misleading. This hotel is old and dirty -- our room was filled with ants and smelt like cigarettes. We checked in at 1am and literally checked out at 8am -- 4 days earlier than expected. Not to mention the staff at the front desk was rude and inconsiderate upon check out. It is also very far from the town of Taoromina and inconvenient to get back and forth. I would not recommend this hotel at all.

Das Hotel ist ideal, wenn man italienisch klassischen Stil liebt. Der Pool ist sauber, die Anlage eignet sich für Hochzeiten oder andere Feiern.

Seitliches Einzelzimmer, kleiner Balkon, Sicht etwas eingeschränkt. Preis im oberen Segment. Schöne, etwas in die Jahre gekommene Anlage. Sicht auf Aetna. Zweimal pro Tag Shuttle-Service nach/von Taormina. Wohltuende, abendliche Sommerfrische auf ca 500 m ü Meer.

Clean and spacious room with fabulous view from the balcony. Shower was tiny and very dated. Lots of plumbing noises through the night disturbed our sleep. Breakfast decent with lots of fresh cake but the scrambled egg was watery and unappealing and many basic items such as bread often ran low and we had to ask to be replenished. Juice was awful. Lovely pool area with amazing view. Castelmola is lovely and the bus to Taormina stops directly outside the hotel. Overall a good stay.

We stayed here for 2 nights and we wish we could have stayed longer. The view from our terrace was beautiful - it overlooked Mount Etna and the surrounding hills. Room was spacious and rustic, which made it feel authentic. All staff at the hotel were lovely and friendly. Breakfast was great and they had such a good choice of fresh food. The pool area was a nice touch - it was great getting in the pool after a long day in the sun. Would happily stay here again and would recommend this place to anyone!

The staff in this facility were very nice and helpful. In particular Davide on the reception desk was very helpful, respectful and nice. The only issue I had with this facility is the parking was a little bit difficult because of the nature of the area which was very hilly.

The staff was so very helpful - before and during our stay. They were very hard working too. The hotel is quaint and comfortable and our rooms had absolutely stunning views of Mount Etna! I would highly recommend this hotel!

Great place to stay in comfort and peace outside the bustle of the Town. Made special by the superb staff who all went out of their way. Oustanding. Davide (?) was simply fantastic. The free shuttle bus plus easy access to the service bus (with planning) results in easy and convenient commute. Davide even printed the days services for the guests.

Hotel is amazing, so many antiques and curiosity’s to look at. Very much old fashioned style. Stunning views, quiet location. Book an Etna view room as away from the road. Lots of choice for breakfast and the hotel restaurant just up the road, La Caverna is wonderful. From the pool, reception and the restaurant staff I really can’t fault them. This really is a wonderful hotel. A short walk up a hill is Castelmola for beautiful shops bars and lovely for a drink in the evening. Bus stop outside hote 15 mins to Taormina. You can walk down if fit. Great location

We stayed for 5 nights but would have loved to have stayed longer. Every member of staff at the hotel we met during our stay was helpful, especially David on reception who made us welcome as soon as we arrived. The whole hotel is kept extremely clean, and the team are visibility working hard throughout the day. We had a Classic room which was large enough for our needs and had alot of storage. There was never a problem with getting a sun bed around the pool and the views of Mt. Etna are breathtaking. Breakfast is a buffet with a good hot and cold selection and there is a great restaurant next door called the Caverna in addition a short walk up into the main square there are plenty of good restaurants. The hotel offers a free Shuttle bus into Taomina, can organise a number of trips, we had a day at a beach club, and a vineyard trip. We had a great stay and hope to be back next year.

Beautiful weather and location. We were there for our Honeymoon and Maria, Paolo, David, Mario and everyone at the Hotel made our Honeymoon even more memorable. Castelmola is on a steep hilltop so driving there is tricky due to very curvy roads. It is quite far from Taormina. The hotel provides limited shuttle service down to Taormina. Otherwise you can take a public bus that runs hourly. The little town of Castelmola is quite cute. The hotel is on the old side but they provide breakfast and the views of the mountains and Etna are excellent. Not the place to be if you are expecting the beach or Taormina.

Great, friendly staff who know how to properly treat their guests. Beautiful views from the restaurant, pool area and our room of Mount Etna. The full breakfast buffet was incredible. In the evenings/night it was absolutely quiet outside. We took the Interbus to/from Taormina bus station, for 1.90 euros. It stops right in front of Villa Sonia Hotel ! Castelmola is an interesting community with many shops and restaurants. We took the walking trail down to Taormina

Ett fantastiskt hotell på en fantastisk plats. Vi ville knappt gå från vår balkong med den underbara utsikten över Etna. Absolutely beautiful hotel. The views were spectacular! The staff was so friendly and accommodating! The restaurant was amazing! Pool area could be updated and they should have a waiter or waitress that goes around. They should have something to get rid of the bees! We couldn’t have breakfast outside in the morning because of all the bees! Breakfast was great but more hot options would have been better.

Hotel Sonia is traditional, well looked after , with great views. Breakfast buffet was very good . The pool are was very nice & the lunch menu very good value . The owners were very friendly & proud of their hotel . They also have an amazing real cave restaurant almost opposite which is excellent.

My family and I were completely blown away with Hotel Villa Sonia. Walking on to our terrace was like stepping into a dream that we did not leave until we checked out 4 days later. The pool was exceptional, the view was breathtaking and the proximity to Castelmoa and shuttle to Taormina were perfect. We have already started planning our trip back to Sicily with Hotel Villa Sonia as our first stop. Thank you for making our stay as close to heave as possible. Cecily

Hotel Villa Sonia was amazing! We had a great stay from check-in to check-out. The staff were so helpful and booked excursions as well as scooter rentals. Plus the breakfast and restaurant were great. Castelmora was only a few flights of stairs away and an amazing way to end the nights. Our room was spectacular, great view of Mt Etna and a wonderful haven from the midday heat. We would definitely return for future holidays.
