Origin Baton Rouge, a Wyndham Hotel

Hotel was great! Parking was horrible! I paid to park in the hotel’s parking lot. You receive a hanging pass when you pay to park in their lot. Well, when we got back, there was a party going on up stairs. Over 75% of the lot had cars with NO passes. We told the receptionist about it, and she told us to park in the lot next door. No call was made to remove or ticket these cars. So a paying guest staying at the hotel and who paid to utilize the hotel’s parking lot was told to park next door. Very upsetting!

Way closer in than I thought. Easy walk to downtown sights. Nice place and fun vibe. 33 bucks is a bit high for valet but it was worth it overall.

Didn’t like the dirty parking lot next door that was supposed to be valet and had valet signs but was self park and didn’t seem safe. Limited dining options in area and onsite bar wasn’t open.

When you advertise on your website that you have valet parking, you should have valet parking. When I arrived last night, I was informed that you didn't and that I could park in the lot next to the law firm. When I went over there, the kiosk said that I could pay $15, but that only covered me until midnight. Presumably, I would need to go back out there at midnight to pay again so I wouldn't get towed. Then I noticed that there was a small lot next to the hotel. I was told that that lot was full and that I would have to park on the street. I am a solo traveler. I should not have to walk around at night because I have to park on the street. When I book a hotel, I expect that the information on your website is correct. I would not have booked this hotel if I had known what the parking situation is. Especially not at the ridiculous rate that I paid. Do better. Carpet was nasty in the room. I know this because my socks were brown after walking around in the room.

Was convenient to the convention center and staff was nice. Parking difficult and limited restaurant

Small rooms, valet parking was not valet parking and it cost 18 dollars a night to park yourself, sometimes you had to park out front because that lot was full. Hotel had a funny smell to it

The hotel was great. It would have a little better if the bar stayed open a little later. We stayed one night and the breakfast was closed the next morning. The valet was nice and quick, the staff was friendly as well. The decor was cute and added visual interest.

This is a very cute, trendy, boutique hotel. It's very inviting and the location is great. It's in a fairly quiet area but within walking distance to the river, bars and restaurants. The staff was friendly but....my bathroom was not clean! I walked in and there was atill a dirty was cloth in the shower and the drain was full of hair!!! I had to ask twice to have the cleaning crew come to my room and all they did was remove the wash cloth. The hair was still in the drain!

This is my 2nd stay at this hotel. The first visit was April 2024 to tour LSU. We had a nice stay and earmarked it for future visits. When we returned for move in, August 2025, we choose Indigo (also downtown) simply to try something different. We returned to Origin for Family Weekend, September 2025. Wow..... What a significant disappointment and letdown from April 2024 to September 2025.. The hotel - overall - just doesn't present as clean.... The bathroom in the room was undeniably not clean and it is worn. The toilet literally had a ring in it. The shower door glass had soap scum buildup.(Both hard to photograph) The room also showed signs of overall wear. Rooms lean dark so when you see signs of wear, uncleanliness and then it's dark....it's not ideal. Front desk staff left no impression. Bar staff lacked warm hospitality. Oddly, on FAMILY WEEKEND, the restaurant closed at 7p and the bar at 9p. So, we found ourselves around the block at the Watermark hotel a few rimes for late night eats and drinks. The bar staff at Watermark? HOSPITABLE!! Friendly, engaging. I could have brought these concerns to the staff but felt - given a few interactions - that there would be zero concern or empathy. So we just gritted through. All of Baton Rouge hotels would need to be sold out for us to return to Origin.

Outside is full oh homelessness and crackheads, ok what everything can’t change that. Boom so we check In lobby is NICE!! Total photo op ! Love it ! Hallways , ok! Love the cheetah carpet. We walk into our room, decor , on point so many photo op’s, but the room itself was DIRTY!! Floor felt disgusting, there was an open coffee creamer in our trash can, beer bottle cap and were bottle cap on the ground. Remote to the tv? Gone , asked for one never got it. We also had a roach inside the tissue box . Overall would never return. Bed was soft tho, praying to god the sheets were clean since the room wasn’t .

The hotel was decent, bed was comfortable. The shower was dirty and there was a huge dead cricket in the bathroom when we walked in. Check-in and check-out was quick and easy.

The property was not well kept & they did not provide parking as it was a full lot, oddly, but yet I found a place right in front of the building where valet was which was fine. The room was dirty. There was human filth on the shower door and there was no soap in the shower. Overall, not a very good experience would not recommend Baton Rouge for any purposes at all other than driving through

Quick and easy check in, room was spacious and had a great view of downtown. Bath tub was a bit dirty.

The first room I was given had an unmade bed that looked like someone just woke up from. I showed the front desk lady pictures. She said, “Sorry,” and gave a new room pretty quickly. The second room had a cup with straw on the TV stand and some of the coffee cups were just laying on the TV stand. One of the pillows on the bed had a huge indentation as if someone had either punched the pillow or laid their head on it. The bathroom had long black hair on the floor. It was late and I needed to rest up for a health event that started at 6:30a the next day at the Raising Canes Center so I cleaned and sanitized the areas of the room that I needed. I typically don’t stay at 3 star hotels and this experience confirmed the reason why. The convenience of location is not worth compromising quality and cleanliness.

The hotel looked very nice. Cute decor. Great location for the parades downtown. The windows and doors are not very soundproof. You can hear everything. My husband liked the mattress but too firm for me. The bathroom sliding door was pretty annoying. Slammed a finger. We liked the restaurant for breakfast.

One night stay - best room ever!! King bed with 2 sets of bunk beds….awesome!!!

Friendly staff. Clean room. No closet. No hangers upon request. Iron available but no ironing board available upon request.

Front desk staff, valet services, and cleaning crew were outstanding. However, the room and bathroom needed more lighting. TV/cable reception was spotty and kept freezing. There was no microwave or refrigerator in the room.

Room and Hotel were nice. AC was stuck at 65F the whole time. Otherwise good time

I had a problem with the air-conditioning not working then I got moved to a lesser room and then had to reaturn all keys before being gven keys to a third room. So that means up and down elevators with luggage.

Was close enough to walk from the River Center. Staff was super friendly. Room was in pretty good order. Only complaint is the air conditioning. Definitely needs to be cooler!

My first time staying here and it was really nice. Check in was super easy. Room isn't too big but the beds are comfortable and bathroom is nice!

Ridiculous light on thermostat is like a head light in your face. Unable to turn off. Staff states that it cannot be turned off.

Really unique, fun boutique hotel. Loved the tiger decor. The staff was great. Restaurant was good albeit a bit overpriced for breakfast. (We didn't eat dinner there) SUPER convenient to the River Center. The one and only issue, NOISE. Absolutely ZERO noise barrier from the street AND the hallway. You could literally hear everything.

Staff was amazing

This is a cute new boutique hotel experience operated by some horrible employees. I arrived at the hotel at 10:00 PM. I could not find anyone to check me in. This was because the girl working the front desk was asleep on the floor. I checked in and went to my room, and things were fine until around midnight, when the fire alarm started beeping. I called the front desk, no answer. I called again three more times throughout the night, and there was no answer. I did not sleep. When I checked out the next morning, the new lady working the front desk proclaimed, "I've been here all night, and you never called, so that's your fault." Unbelievable. Again, this was an old Holiday Inn Express recently renovated with new owners. I guess the hiring pool must be pretty sad in Baton Rouge. I would NEVER stay here again.

I stayed two nights with my family, they didn’t clean the room the first day, trash cans got full, ran out of toilet paper, shampoo, soap, didn’t get enough towels. I asked three times to get my room clean and the only answer I got was “Sorry for the inconvenience” I will never stay at this hotel anymore

My stay was okay for the most part! Housekeeping was knocking on my door at 9 am and checkout wasn’t until 11! When I answered she said she would come back later…she came back at 10:45 and instead of knocking she just let herself in. I was undressed so I’m beyond upset.

We had a great time and Corey was great. He answered any questions that we had and he was very pleasant.

The manager and staff were excellent.

I am a platinum member with VIP access and perks. When I make a reservation, I use the VIP access filter for hotels that recognize this status—and did so in deciding on this hotel. When I checked in, I asked about an upgrade and was told it would cost me $250–more than twice what I was already paying. I told the clerk my status and she called a manager who said that free upgrades were only for Wyndham members. The room on the surface looked comfortable enough but we found trash behind the chair, a dirty coverlet (looked like paw prints) and black pubic hair on the toilet seat (neither of us have black hair). When reported, there wasn’t even an apology.

The staff were amazing and super friendly, had a problem with our rooms AC but were upgraded at no additional charge

The best part about the place was the people. I forgot my phone charger and was trying to find a place downtown to find one. I mentioned it to one of the reception people (RENAE) and she found one in her purse and gave it to me. She wouldn’t take anything for it. Very kind and generous person!!

Clean, small boutique hotel. Downtown is dead after dark and on weekends so there is nothing around.

Spent three nights here: wonderful room and amenities, and right next to many restaurants!

It’s a clean room to sleep, if you don’t hear the homeless. No frills, but clean. Not the safest area to walk through, but not too dangerous. Wouldn’t want my wife walking it alone.

Looks just like the pictures, nice comfy room. Staff were wonderful. Breakfast available in the morning at their little cafe. Happy hour from 4-7 and it was 50% off wine or beer. Parking in the back in Downtown was an added bonus. It was perfect for me.

Amazing hotel it was clean and modern and up to date. It felt like home away from home, the staff was amazing and very helpful definitely will be returning. The restaurant Passe was amazing and the servers were awesome the best breakfast and coffee I ever had!!

Very clean and comfortable room. However the "All day Cafe" while a great place for a great breakfast is NOT all day. The all day cafe is part of what attracted to me this hotel over other ones. Sadly I was quite disappointed I could only get breakfast. though it was good.

We stayed at Origin because it had a cafe. We had breakfast in the cafe and it was awful. Despite the cafe being almost empty, we were told by the hostess that we could take any table. Long story short, the hostess was also the waitress and cashier for the entire cafe. It was 15-20 minutes until before we could order and only after I got up and told the waitress that we were ready to order. After we placed our order we waited for for about 45 minutes before I had to get up and ask why we had to wait so long. The hostess/waitress said she would now check with the kitchen to see if our order was ready. After about 10 more minutes we were finally served our food. Same problem with getting our bill and paying it While we were undergoing this miserable experience many people came into the restaurant to eat and left without ordering because of no or extremely slow service. We will never stay at Horizon Baton Rouge again again.

Lovely hotel...calm, quiet and clean. Downton Baton Rouge isn't really a busy and noisy city, and that is perfect for me. The hotel is very clean, modern and very well put together. The restaurant, Passe, is in transition to a new concept, menu, etc. and that's OK. I had breakfast there a few times and it was great. Restaurant staff and front desk staff were great. My favorite place to stay when I'm in Baton Rouge.

The property wasn’t too bad. The room was adequate for my needs for my vacation and was close to where I was going however, I will say that you need to find other dining means for breakfast luncheon dinner as I wouldn’t rate theirs that great.
