The complementary high tea and house boat cruise really made our stay in Kollam. Our room was of a very high standard but tired in areas, as were some parts of the hotel. Overall excellent but management could really do with investing in maintenance/upgrade to make this a truly world class destination.

Rooms needs to be renovated to the five stars hotel level, specially bathrooms. There were hard water marks everywhere in the bathroom also on a wood floor in the main area of our room. Someone probably spilled something on a hardwood floor previously. Buffet breakfast and dinner is average, food was not hot, waiter had to warm our food in the microwave. I would not consider this hotel as a five stars property.

The above ratings speak for itself. This was a very disappointing stay. Arrived late and my room smelled like the septic system was leaking. I asked the hotel to fix it but unfortunately had to ask every day for my 6 day stay. I didn’t get hot water in my shower and had to repeatedly ask to get this fixed but no luck. The front desk offered to put me and my group in different rooms but ended up smaller rooms with same smell.

Lenin is an excellent photographer who understands when to step in and assist without invading the guests' privacy. It would be beneficial to promote him to a higher, more visible position where he can help with small tasks, such as taking photos and providing useful information to guests, without being tied to his desk at the front entrance.

This is the best property in Kollam. The views of the Ashtamudi lake and the surrounding scenery are both jaw dropping. Breakfast is a grand feast! Staff is responsive and very helpful. I always stay here when I’m in Kollam.

Overall excellent but management could really do with investing in maintenance/upgrade to make this a truly world class destination.

This is the best property in Kollam. The views of the Ashtamudi lake and the surrounding scenery are both jaw dropping. Breakfast is a grand feast! Staff is responsive and very helpful. I always stay here when I’m in Kollam.

All staff from security, reception, restaurant & cleaning were so welcoming & friendly. All staff spoke good english. Hotel was excellent with free boat ride & afternoon tea. Rooms were clean & modern. Eating in the restaurant is pricey.

Room was ok, staff untrained and unprofessional, the hotel was like a fish market, food was substandard. Overall, probably a 3-star hotel masquerading as a 5-star. Would not recommend it to friends.

Very good stay, everyone in there are extremely helpful. Yes rooms need refurbishment a little but other than that people, food other areas of property everything outstanding.

The Leela Ashtamudi is a truly beautiful hotel with a prime position overlooking the backwaters. The staff were excellent. The complementary high tea and house boat cruise really made our stay in Kollam. Our room was of a very high standard but tired in areas, as were some parts of the hotel. Overall excellent but management could really do with investing in maintenance/upgrade to make this a truly world class destination.

Rooms needs to be renovated to the five stars hotel level, specially bathrooms. There were hard water marks everywhere in the bathroom also on a wood floor in the main area of our room. Someone probably spilled something on a hardwood floor previously. Buffet breakfast and dinner is average, food was not hot, waiter had to warm our food in the microwave. I would not consider this hotel as a five stars property.

Overall we liked it. The bathroom was small, toilet was positioned very near the entrance, normal should be on far side and sink should be the first as you enter a toilet. Lastly, the swimming pool was not stocked up with bath towels, both for men and women ?! Had to ask for it. The sowers stalls did not have any ventilation as a result the rooms became very steamy. Not enough shelf or hooks to hang towels or swim wears ETC. The two guard rails to enter into the swimming pool were were lose and rattling?! Do not expect 5* hotel to have this kind of problem.
